Just as a warning, I am not able to access the Add Board. It has changed its username & password. That means as of right now I do not have access to real-time adds as they come in. It is possible that I will not post adds until All Access posts them tonight. If someone else has access, feel free to post the adds. Thanks.

  • Danielle Fan!

Thats a bummer! please dont forget to post them tonight however if they dont get posted today? Thanks!

  • ptebwwong

Currently, a Scotty fan over at IDF does have access to the Add Board. The poster is only posting Scotty’s adds. But they did say they would post all of the country adds when it’s finished.

If you are able to find out a new password, please share. Thanks!

  • ptebwwong

Posters have asked, but I don’t think they will give it. I think the reason for the login info change is due to someone over at Mediabase finding out that multiple users have been using this login info. So they’re wary about giving it out.

  • Danielle Fan!

Hopefully they do. If you have a membership there please ask them to post Cass and Danielles, much appreciated.

  • Kathleen Moore

    Is that for Feelin It?

  • ptebwwong

Yes. These are early adds. Official add date is next week.

for a song that high on HAC, it’s totally flopping on iTunes.????????

  • bridgette12

It’s not flopping, it’s just not doing that great. But that tends to happen when radio propels a song up the charts and it’s not catching on with the listeners.

  • Eilonwy_has_an_emu

It’s an HAC-native song, not a song that rose on HAC simultaneous with (or after) being a pop hit and therefore picking up significant sales momentum from pop radio. HAC listeners don’t buy singles with the same enthusiasm as CHR listeners. P2 also doesn’t have the tailwind from winning Idol and the Olympics placement this time.

There’s a point at which the iTunes ranking becomes a warning sign of trouble ahead, but I think we’re a week or two short of being there yet.

  • ADRIANAARG1980

    Thanks for that :)

The song is still on sale on Amazon as MP3 version for 0.69, while the iTunes-version costs 1.29, so people probably tend to buy the cheaper one.
Last monday the song was on the way to climb in the Top 100 iTunes chart (#108) and the next days it began to fall . This was the time, when the song went on sale on Amazon.

  • Jbadger

Scotty getting some nice early adds! Excited for the adds day next week.

  • elliegrll

It’s way to early to call the song a flop. It sped up the Hot AC chart, which is nice, but chart position doesn’t have anything to do with human nature. People have to be exposed to a song more than once before they fully become aware that the song exists.

  • jpfan2

The song was doing fine until 2 weeks ago when it seemed to lose its mojo. Conan appearance didn’t help much either. I am hoping the video sparks sales. CHR plays music based on surveys and requests. I hope HAC works the same way and there is real interest in the song. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Home or GGG and that may be an issue as well. Listeners may not connect it to P2.

  • jan

I know that adds are not directly available from mediabase any more – where can we find them? All Access is telling me they are not available until midnight.

  • Eilonwy_has_an_emu

The song was doing fine until 2 weeks ago when it seemed to lose its mojo.

I’m actually kinda buying that looking at iTunes ranking is deceptive when Amazon has the song on sale for roughly half what iTunes is charging, especially when the dates line up so well.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like Home or GGG

Y’know, in the thread(s) introducing the song, consensus ran toward the position that it sounded very much like Home and GGG. I don’t find it indistinguishable from them (some did), but I’d put it in the same cluster and not be surprised that it was the same artist. If I hadn’t paid attention that the artist was P2 in the first place, I wouldn’t be able to make the connection, of course. But people who bought his music before shouldn’t have huge trouble with it.

Listeners may not connect it to P2.

Don’t radio stations still do those bumpers that go “Hi, I’m Phillip Phillips, and you’re listening to my new single, ‘Raging Fire,’ on 107.8 MIX-FM, your home for hits of the nineties, noughties, and today”? I gave up on my HAC station a while ago because it gave too much emphasis to 2008-era soft rock, but they lurved those things and used them heavily.

Whaaat? It sounds very much like them. In fact, probably too similar to get people to buy it.

  • jpfan2

I haven’t heard P2 intro the song but then I don’t hear it all that much.

  • DBfan

To me, the song being on sale for .69 tells me, the label is concerned with the sales backing up the chart position. Also, Amazon sales are so much smaller than iTunes. I really don’t know if being #50 there is selling much.
Generally, I prefer when a song organically rises at a slower pace (but not too slow), not from too much label push. But as a reflection of people hearing the song and loving it/buying it. There’s a better chance for it to be a huge hit. It’s better to have too much label support than not enough. But they may have overdone it here. IMO, it’s way too early to say if there is a problem with Raging Fire. Only time will tell if it goes #1 and crosses over to Pop to help album sales, which I would define as a HUGE hit. But since everyone is discussing it, I added my two cents.

Amazon sets sale prices without consulting the label — its business model is to buy the tracks outright and price them as it sees fit. So putting RF on sale tells nothing about Interecope’s hopes, dreams, and fears. What it tells us is that Amazon thinks the song or the artist is popular enough to use it as a loss leader to drive other singles purchase traffic to its site.

The Amazon sale should mess up iTunes rankings, but it is not in any way a bad sign.

    thanks – will do

  • Lori

What she said! I was just going to say it’s exactly the opposite message. Amazon picks the songs as loss leaders to generate more sales so it’s actually good news for RF, but lo and behold, the lady with the emu beat me to it ;)

  • DBfan

That goes along with the same lines as when the labels claim it’s “completely” up to iTunes whether there is a banner for a release. Labels obviously have relationships with their sellers, and when an artist is important to them, they make sure things happens. One example, it was not Amazon who decided to sell Lady Gaga’s album for .99. What the party line is and what really goes on are very different. Who the label is willing to use their collateral for, to go all out to support, is what makes the difference between the successful and non-successful artists.

That fan rumor back again? Amazon’s business model is very well-known and discussed within the investment community. I’m going to believe what Amazon’s management tells investors in discussions that are regulated under securities law (translation: lying gets yo ass kicked by the government) over persistent fan rumors that it “has to be” some other way.

  • DBfan

I don’t know anything about a fan rumor. So I don’t know what you are referring to. I was talking about how the music industry works. There are various ways they promote those who are their priority whether with their sellers, radio stations, tv show appearances, etc., and they are not going to tell you about it, for obvious reasons. They use party lines which I know for a fact are not what really goes on. I didn’t mean to infer that Amazon took the loss when the label wanted something, if that’s what was confusing. I thought that was clear by using Lady Gaga as an example.

Amazon’s and iTunes’ management are both openly contemptuous of “how the music industry works” (as well as “how the publishing industry works”) and very proud of how they don’t have to make deals with content publishers but are sufficiently monopolistic to dictate terms and do whatever the hell they want. This comes up again and again in management discussions. Heck, it’s come up in law suits over how these companies price content.

The labels are openly unhappy with both companies and have tried assorted end runs and alternatives to lessen Amazon’s and iTunes’ power, always unsuccessfully.

This isn’t a matter of “toeing a party line” to fool the poor, silly public. This is tension that’s basic to why the music industry is such a financial mess.

Also, as I said, publicly held companies cannot lie about their business models to the investment community, not without facing severe penalties. A claim that depends on multiple well-established companies with conflicting interests all collaborating in the same lie is, by definition, false.

  • DBfan

TBH, I don’t have the time nor the patience to keep going in circles. Everyone is entitled to believe what they like as the truth. But I stand by what I said and have seen it many times (especially on iTunes), and have discussed it extensively with friends in the music industry.

No adds for James. All the adds I posted were for any talent show alums.

Regarding the “Born This Way” album: Amazon paid the full price to Interscope, so Gaga’s label wasn’t affected. Amazon priced the album 99c and took the loss.

Just downloaded my copy of Celebrate. It’s currently at #9 in Pop and #42 overall.

Looks like other fans also wanted the bonus tracks only available on I-tunes download. What’s your take on those rankings in comparison to MOABD? Numbers seem closely familiar to me if I’m remembering somewhat?? correctly. I know I’m happy to own both songs & wouldn’t have missed out.. Fun looking back at the vision of James “live-on-stage attitude” performing Get Over Yourself.

  • justmefornow

The numbers are very similar. MOABD was #5 on Rock and in the #30’s somewhere overall when it debuted.

I agree, smart move putting Get Over Yourself on itunes as a bonus track. It’s probably my next favorite track after Children Under The Sun. The poppier tracks, though, definitely skippable. But I had a few of them on MOABD too.

  • DragonFly

Fans are responding in general to loving/liking the album w/some like you wanting some/more– heavier songs (but those I’ve seen mostly approving overall James work in it). So far (no hard copy arriving for me yet except from his site which I don’t open) but liking 4 out of 4 recorded songs I’ve heard. I find so much vocal talent already in those—the rest I’m confident will be good for me.

  • justmefornow

Yeah, I’m still waiting for the TSA bundle I ordered from his website too. That’s the only hard copy I ordered because of the charity tie-in. And the itunes for the bonus tracks.

  • CanadianLady

Itunes Canada doesn’t have Celebrate. Sigh.
