This week’s milestones feature Idol’s two country winners and two of the S3 “divas”.

ETA: A S2 country artist re-emerges on the AC chart!

Season 3′s winner, Fantasia, has taken “Collard Greens & Cornbread” to top 10 on UAC. This is her third single from her third album, “Back To Me”. She performed CG&C on the Idol results show on March 13th. All the singles from this album have gone at least top 10 in this format.

Also from Season 3 is Jennifer Hudson. “No One Gonna Love You” has gone top 20 on UAC giving her two songs in the top 20 in that format (the other is her first single “Where You At”).

Carrie Underwood’s duet with Brad Paisley has hit a milestone every one of its weeks, but that’s the way it tends to go with Carrie. This week, “Remind Me” reaches top 15 on the Country chart. This is the third single from Paisley’s recent album.

Our latest winner, Scotty McCreery reaches his very first top 20. I’m sure that a lot of people hearing “I Love You This Big” for the first time on Top 2 night wouldn’t have predicted that Scotty would get the song to top 20 on Country one month later. Sometimes coronation singles just work.

Season’s 2 Josh Gracin has re-emerged on the charts. Josh finished 4th in Season 2 and signed with Lyric Records in 2004 (he was in the Marine Corps when he was on Idol, but was honorably discharged after completing his service). Lyric Records was the country division of Disney and featured Rascal Flatts. Josh’s first album saw 3 successful singles (top 5) and went Gold. His follow-up album took a while to record and struggled. He was dropped by Lyric in 2008 and signed by Average Joes in 2010 (Montgomery Gentry is probably their biggest act – but maybe I just know them because Scotty sang one of their songs). His latest single “Long Way To Go” has flown up the AC chart from 72 last week to 35 this week.

Close the box! Put the words back in there RIGHT NOW!”

Yikes! Sorry… I’ve edited my post, lol =P.

I’m excited for the Dav-alanche. I’m expecting the bunker will be a happy place from which I’ll be enjoying the media goodness without angst. It’s all good for me. I’m loving my CD-DVD and EP :)

LOL! I was picturing this sort of treasure chest thing propped open with cartoons words with “We Believe” floating out of it. I’m tired, I’m picturing all kinds of weird things right about now :)

If we’re not naturally happy, we’ll just get drunk :)

Scotty had an even better week at Billboard than I’d imagined! The IdolsNow twitter has confirmed Billboard chart rankings for all the Idols. I’m just posting the ones from Billboard Hot Country Songs.

#12 (up from #17) Brad/Carrie (RM) *Greatest Gainer*
#17 (up form #22) Scotty (ILYTB)
#40 (up from #47) Kellie (Tough)
#45 (up from #46) Lauren (LMMD)

Chart highlights confirm Brad and Carrie are this week’s greatest gainer and Blake’s at #1 w Honeybee for a 3rd straight week.

I’m trying to figure out who else Scotty passed. Probably Eli Young Band but it’s possible he passed Josh Turner. EYB was doing better at Mediabase AIwise than Billboard so they’re more likely.

But still, it’s going to get way harder for both the Idols in the t20 to move up and pass songs now. There is nothing going recurrent on Mediabase above them for the next couple of weeks. I think it might be the same on Billboard.

I’m really happy about what Remind Me’s doing considering it’s doing what it’s doing without a video or a live TV performance. Or an adds date until today, lolz. Brad seems to be performing everything BUT that song live. *le sigh*

I love how well Scotty and Lauren are doing. I really enjoyed them this past season, and even more, I do think they have the potential to be great artists. I hope they are enjoying their ride and that radio keeps the love coming.:)

Brad seems to be performing everything BUT that song live. *le sigh*

Haha, windmills. Their goal is to drive you crazy by the time you hear it live. I’m sure that moment will be awesome – I can’t wait!

LOL From what I can tell by looking at the addboard, the song fell short of getting that last monitored non-Canadian add today. The only market left is Columbia, SC. #88 Until you said something, I didn’t realize how little TV promo the song really had. Considering, it has indeed done amazingly well.

But I also enjoy plenty of music from bands that sell in quantities so small that they can track their sales on a cocktail napkin from their favorite dive bar.

LOL so true! Mostly all my favorites sell diddly squat. That’s what happens when you love underground rappers, neo soul types, quirky indie rockers, singer/songwriter folkie chicks. When’s the last time you saw those people at the top of the chart? Oh, 20NEVER? The Idol ride has been atypical for me. At least other people know who I’m talking about when I mention them. No one else knows who Little Brother and Jean Grae are. :D

All these top 2 idol types get to make well funded major label albums. They get to play the songs on national television! Big magazines talk about them. That’s huge stuff! Whatever they make out of it after that is gravy. They all will make more than me no mater what happens. I’m pretty sure Taylor Hicks beats my salary 3 times over even now, years later. LOL

Dang, what’s with all the Cook fan sadness?! Yikes.

Here’s another perspective: I come home from a long day, open my mailbox and AM SHOCKED to find TLM and TQN in my mailbox!! YipPEE, a day early for ME!! :-) And, I didn’t even pre-order from DCO until last week. Imagine my elation!

    As it should be… lol

Seriously, I know all of you nerds — with your naysaying and doomsday scenarios and what not lowering expectations to subterranean levels — are simply setting the stage for celebration next week no matter what the numbers. Otherwise, I’d call for immediate return of your fan club cards! Heh.

Wish I could attend (or even view in real time) Cook’s Today Show appearance… snif. You all please go and enjoy, bask in the light and love, for me. Please!

  • McCreerian

Will Josh gracin be releasing his song to country radio too?

  • windmills

Joyed: Haha, windmills. Their goal is to drive you crazy by the time you hear it live. I’m sure that moment will be awesome – I can’t wait!

Ha! I understand it though. I would’ve loved an AI finale performance but may as well save the promotion for later when the song’s more likely to need it. IF that’s what they’ve got planned because it seems like they might hold off on performing it until the CMA Awards in November, which would be months after it peaked. The problem is there aren’t really any major TV events to perform it on this summer when it will be on the radio.

The song’s surprised me with how well it’s held up on Itunes so far. I don’t know if they expected that but they probably had some idea seeing as Remind Me was album only for the 1st couple of weeks Brad’s album was out.

Doesn’t mean I didn’t have a little frustrated moment when I saw Brad would be on The Voice singing Don’t Drink The Water with Blake though ;) Not my favorite song in the 1st place and even less now :P But it’s a song that’s probably more fun live than recorded where it feels like just another “get drunk in Mexico after a breakup” song.

Pam: LOL From what I can tell by looking at the addboard, the song fell short of getting that last monitored non-Canadian add today. Looking at Itunes, definitely. But as far as radio play, I didn’t mean to imply that was happening despite the lack of TV promo, not that you were inferring that either.

From Billboard Country Update it turns out the extra song ILYTB passed is in fact Josh Turner’s I Wouldn’t Be A Man by 43k AIs! There’s something a little sad to me about that but the reality is Josh’s song shouldn’t ever have been a single and this is already its 35th week on the chart. They should release As Fast As I Could if they don’t have new music ready from him.

ILYTB is less than 200k AIs behind Crazy Girl by Eli Young Band so watch to see who has a better week this week. ILYTB actually gained more than 2 million AIs on BDS so it had a much better week on BDS than Mediabase. George Strait’s Here For A Good Time will still probably pass ILYTB this week but if he’s the only one then ILYTB should be in good shape to hold steady at #17 next week.

I realize that TLG isn’t a monster hit, but I don’t feel it’s a complete failure either. It has been steadly in the top 40 in it’s target formats for the past 3-4 weeks, still climbing albeit slowly, still getting some airplay and adds, and the video is doing well on VH1. And all this depite the fact that it is in a genre that isn’t the most popular right now. If it’s time to try a different single, maybe it will be the monster hit, but that’s not guaranteed either. Possibly the album will do well regardless, but that remains to be seen. But for me, I really like the album, and how it does will not affect that.

I’m glad that he has stuck to the music he wants to do, and not as concerned about what is the most popular or what will sell the most singles. He has said in several interviews that he is more concerned about putting out a good album, and I think he has done this, and he does have an audience. Hopefully the album and any singles from it will do well.

So excited for Scotty!!! Someone on another forum thought that he is the youngest male solo country act to hit the Top 20 in country. Anyone know?:)

  • eyelinerandcigarettes

    His single is #18 now!
