Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Jan 7-13

Mediabase milestones this week from American Idol (seasons 1, 3 and 9) and X-Factor (UK – season 6).

Kelly Clarkson enters the top 10 on HAC with “Catch My Breath”, the song anchoring her Greatest Hits album. The Song has gone top 20 in the three mainstream formats.

Also from Idol is third season winner, Fantasia. She may not know how to tweet, but she definitely knows how to make a successful UAC song. Her latest single “Lose to Win” is storming up the chart. It first appeared on the chart last week and is now in the top 30 (almost top 20). With a strong bullet, this song should do very well.

Finally, from Idol, we have “Crying on a Suitcase” from season 9 third place finisher Casey James. Overcoming an objectifying audition, he has worked diligently on the country circuit and his label has been very patient with this song. It all paid off now that the song is in the top 15 on Country.

Olly Murs represents the X-Factor franchise this week. He’s had a lot of success in the UK market, but this runner-up from Season 6 has failed to make a lasting impact in the US. Pairing with the radio-bait rapper Flo Rida was a good move as their song moves into the top 30 on Pop.
