Monday Morning Mediabase Update – Jan 3-9

The charts have settled back down after the Christmas freeze and we will note songs achieving milestones this week and during the break.

All three One Directioners who have songs out right now hit milestones this week. Niall Horan who is working his debut single “This Town” moves into the top 40 on AC. The song is also top 15 on Pop and top 20 on HAC. Zayn released a song with Taylor Swift for the new Fifty Shades movie and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” went top 40 on AC (debut) and top 40 on Rhythmic. During our break from reporting, the song debuted on Rhythmic while also going top 15 on Pop and HAC. Louis Tomlinson collaborated with Steve Aoki just before Christmas to release “Just Hold On” and it debuts on the Pop chart this week. One Direction itself returns to the top 30 on AC with “Drag Me Down”.

Jasmine Murray from the 8th season of American Idol debuted on the CAC chart during the break and this week she goes top 40 with “Fearless”. I believe this is the first song she has ever charted.

Camila Cabello broke with Fifth Harmony during the break and continues to have success with her solo projects. “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly goes top 40 on HAC.

Lindsey Stirling from AGT enters the top 50 on HAC with “Hold My Heart” featuring ZZ Ward. She continues to create fusion music.
