Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Jan 13-19

The Monday Morning Mediabase memo contains 6 milestones this week – two from Idol, two from The Voice and two from X-Factor (for the same song).

One Direction is really hitting their stride with “Story of My Life”. This track is anchoring their 3rd album “Midnight Memories”. SoML continues to climb on Pop and had the biggest spincrease on HAC. That was enough to move the song into the top 10 on HAC (skipping right over our top 15 milestone). Suprisngly, the song also hit top 50 on AAA which is usually the domain of indie cred.

Also crossing-over to a new format for this album cycle is Daughtry. The group’s “Waiting for Superman” is currently top 15 on HAC and top 30 on AC. This week, they debuted in the top 50 on Pop. Daughtry has done well on all three formats in the past, but their brand of Rock isn’t the current flavour of the moment so this cycle has been harder work for them.

As noted last week, Cassadee Pope’s “Wasting All These Tears” went top 10 on the published chart, but it is only this week that the song hit a Monday morning top 10. The song started losing spins last week, though, and that usually heralds the end of a song on this chart (you can gain and lose bullets further down the chart, but losing a bullet in top 10 is usually fatal). Meanwhile, Danielle Bradbery who won the latest season of The Voice continues to climb. Her debut single “The Heart of Dixie” moved into the top 15.

Lee DeWyze is fighting up the HAC chart with “Fight”. The song which leads his first album with his new label achieved top 40 on HAC.
