Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Feb 11-17

This week, the charge on Mediabase Milestones is led by the UK franchise of the X-Factor and Idol both with three each. Carly Rae Jepsen, Crystal Bowersox and Little Wings have songs going for adds this week.

Olly Murs takes point on the British X-Factor invasion of the Pop charts. His “Troublemaker” featuring Flo Rida looks to establish him on US radio (he has had previous songs chart, but this one looks like it will get him wider notice). The song has just gone top 20 on Pop. Cher Lloyd continues her success in America with “With Ur Love” featuring Juicy J entering top 40 on Top 40. One Direction’s “Kiss You” (despite going old school with how they spell “U”) is marching up the Pop chart, but the milestone they hit this week is on HAC where the song enters the chart in the top 50.

Speaking of HAC, Phil Phillips, the latest American Idol winner, enters the top 40 in that format with his second single “Gone, Gone, Gone”. The song only went for adds last week on AAA (where it sits in the top 30s). His previous single “Home” also returned to the 40 on Alternative Rock radio. Stefano from season 10 of Idol (now with only one name) debuts in the top 50 on Pop with his second single “Yes to Love”.

Season 3 American Idol winner, Fantasia, enters the top 15 on UAC with her latest single “Lose to Win”. The title seems apt because sometimes you have weeks like this. The song was stubbornly stuck outside the top 15 for the last couple of weeks and this week, with a spincrease of only one, the song retained its bullet and climbed up 4 spots. Other weeks, a song is gaining spins like mad and going nowhere. The position on the chart never tells the entire story.

Finally, a mention of the voice. Chris Mann’s “Roads” re-enters the top 40 on AC.

Looks like COAS is done. Bring on Drive!!

Looks like Kelly’s next smash People Like Us is going to radio on March 4th! Via Combustion Music, the publishing company of one of PLU’s writers, Blair Daly:

Make sure you check out Blair’s next single, ‘People Like Us’ off of Kelly Clarkson’s Greatest Hits album, going to radio March 4!

  • samuelgrant

Glad to see Cher’s new single taking off! I think it’ll do better than “Oath” on the radio. Also, I think Carly Rae’s new single could be a hit, unlike “This Kiss.”

  • jpfan2

In on likelihood GGG is going top 30 on HAC in 2 days. ;)

Yep. The song is also def going top 20 on Triple A.  All good signs on radio so far for P2′.  If the guy could spin off a 3rd hit single, we’d be seeing something than no Idol contestant has achieved in years.

Of course I’m getting way ahead of myself. Especially because Home took a very long time to climb the charts. It’s possible GGG will do the same and not really peak until August or September!

    You missed Stefano at Pop.

Totally. Thanks for the info. I’ve added him now. Cheers!

  • AndyB11

Interesting Crystal is going for adds on “Movin’ On.”  I follow her closely and don’t know that she has ever sang it in public before. Maybe holding it back because they knew it was awesome? I’m hoping!

When do we find out the add dates for Jessica’s new single? If the add dates were in February, wouldn’t it have showed up on mediabase by now?

  • http://twitter.com/BamadansPad Danny Latham

Movin On was never sang in concert yet. However, if you have a free acct at All Access, you can hear the single. If y’all love horns and mellow guitars, you’ll love it. Nice smooth jazzy feel. Love it better than Dead Weight and Stitches. I think the Mama Sox resurgence has hit a fever pitch, and not just because of Broadway.

  • jdanton2

I doubt the add date for Jessica’s single will be in February. the song will hopefully debut either online or radio this month  but the add date will probably be maybe March.

     Thanks

  • revolution

WoW!!! Movin On is amazing… here it is: http://www.allaccess.com/triple-a/future-releases you might need to set up a free account to hear it…

Crystal movin on up with this!

  • girlygirltoo

I thought “Dead Weight” was supposed to be the first single? Did they change their minds?

  • Caro3278sweet

Hm. I like Dead Weight better. Crystal doesn’t really have a jazz voice IMHO. Haley, yes. Crystal, no. I think Crystal is more funky folk with a light touch of country. It’s like the horns and percussion are on one page and she’s on the other.

    Wish her the best though.

  • revolution

I saw a tweet from a publicist that called “Dead Weight” a “buzz track” it said official single coming later. I guess this is it…

  • http://twitter.com/BassCampbell bass

everybody go buy fantasia new single its a really hot buy inspiring song

  • jpfan2

Not sure if President’s Day is affecting adds but so far the count is:

    8 Phillip Phillips Gone,Gone,Gone
4 Kelly Clarkson – Catch My Breath
    1 Kelly Clarkson – Don’t Rush
1 Tate Stevens -Power of A Love Song (is this his official single?)

  • Caro3278sweet

1 Tate Stevens -Power of A Love Song (is this his official single?)

Yep. That’s the cliche ridden first single that his label chose for him.

Tate has an excellent country voice. But so far, all I see is a sing-by-the-numbers, video-by-the-numbers roll out. Me no likely.

  • jpfan2

President’s Day has impacted adds. Only about 30% of all the adds are in so more to come tomorrow.

  • girlygirltoo

Is there an official add date for Tate’s single?

  • EvenMoreron

I wonder if they should wait until April to release People Like Us.  Even though it’s almost 5 months old, Catch My Breath is only peaking now.

  • revolution

Crystal Bowersox had 2 adds, Knoxville and Sant Fe…she was also listed as hotest new track by KINK in Portland and KCKC in Kansas City and was their hot new music play in Kansas City.

  • girlygirltoo

According to the mediabase adds board, the stations that added Movin’ On are in Albuquerque (not Santa Fe) and Knoxville. But neither of those stations are monitored by Mediabase, so the spins they give her single won’t count toward any chart placements

  • revolution

KBAC is Radio Free Santa FE… and like I said earlier most AAA stations are not monitored… KCKC and KINK’s program directors listed it as the hotest new release so adds there are coming soon.

  • girlygirltoo

Maybe maybe not. Program directors list songs as “hot” all the time but then never play them, let alone officially add them. So we will have to wait and see. Hopefully radio will respond well to Crystal’s new single.

  • revolution

yup…kckc is not listed as an add yet but they played it and asked listeners to rate it on their website…no link to song on website so they must have played it on the air…got 96% loved it…4% liked it…

  • revolution

KINK is Portland….hometown right now and location it was recorded…pd likes it it will get an add….KFUV is a station Crystal has been on the air twice on Rita Houston’s show…Rita loves her and was promoted to Program Director this week…I think she will add her and thats the NYC market.

  • girlygirltoo

do you know when they played it? was it today (Monday)? Because according to mediabase, neither KINK nor KCKC played the song in the past reporting period (Monday 2/11 to Sunday 2/17).

  • revolution

yup…Monday at 3:45 pm…they play a new song every day at 3:45 and fans go to website and rate it…

girlygirltoo: Is there an official add date for Tate’s single?

Not yet, and no signs of a radio tour or radio push to lead up to an adds date either.

  • girlygirltoo

    oh I see. thanks :)
