Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Dec 9-15

The airwaves are becoming saturated with Christmas songs and that means fewer milestones. Non-Christmas songs are struggling to earn spins and there are only so many times any given Christmas song can be played during a day. It’s Christmas! Do you know where all your presents are?

But, there are still some milestones to go around. Four to be exact.Kelly Clarkson is taking a break from the 3 milestones she’s had a week lately. This week she has just two. Her original “Underneath the Tree” continues to top the AC chart for its third week and her version of “Blue Christmas” moves into the top 10 of that format.

Over on CAC, Colton Dixon’s “Jingle Bells” moves into the top 40. He is going to be re-releasing his album in the new year.

Danielle Bradbery not only landed the Olympic song, she’s also got her regular single hitting top 20 this week. Will they keep working “The Heart of Dixie” in the new year or launch her Olympic song as her second single? Since the first line of the commercial is “There’s a voice inside that’s trying to be heard” could also serve as an advertising for The Voice itself (surely to start after the Olympics). Decisions, decisions.

Meanwhile, X-Factor’s One Direction hits top 15 on Pop with “Story of My Life”. This could be their biggest radio hit since their debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful”.
