Monday Morning Mediabase Update: Apr 16-22

Kelly and Carrie switch milestone formats, foreign versions of X-Factor and Idol continue to make in-roads on US radio and Kris rounds out the milestones for the week.

Carrie and Kelly are trading milestones on their home formats. Carrie debut single from her fourth album goes for adds this week on HAC, but it’s already achieved a top 40 in that format. “Good Girl” also went top 50 on the AC format this week. This song is in the top 10 of its home format, Country. Meanwhile, Kelly’s debut single from her fifth album went top 40 on Country. Kelly’s “Stronger” (her second single) continues to top the HAC chart and went top 5 on AC.

One Direction, Carly Rae Jepsen and Rebecca Fergusen all represent versions of X-Factor and Idol from other countries. X-Factor UK is the mother ship of that franchise and One Direction is their second biggest success story in the US after Leona Lewis (and may soon eclipse her). This group is helping to generate a resurgence of the boy group phenomena. They went top 10 on Pop this week and top 20 on HAC. 1D came in third on their season of XF, but Rebecca Ferguson came in 2nd. She’s currently got two songs on the mercurial UAC chart. Her “Nothing’s Real But Love” song has been up and down all over that chart, but it’s top 30 today. Run Free just achieved top 50. Finally, Carly Rae Jepsen from the now defunct Canadian Idol has achieved top 15 on Pop.

Our final milestone this week comes from Season 8’s Kris Allen. His debut single off of his 2nd album went top 50 on AC.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson’s “Think Like a Man” returns to the top 20 on UAC. The movie itself premiered this week and was number one at the box office this weekend taking in $30M.
