Yay! Nice to see both LO and TOML going up..slow and steady.
Off-topic cos the headlines post is not available yet:

Singapore has released David Cook’s album already
and for a limited time, it comes with a free calendar poster.

    Singapore fans:

HDD building chart has gone up… lol

  • ozarka

Why the lol? How do you interpret those HDD numbers?

  • sue

I can’t view the numbers, and yeah what’s so funny??? huh?

  • http://myspace.com/girlgeek mj

Why the lol? How do you interpret those HDD numbers?

There is nothing to interpret at this point. You can’t extrapolate the numbers, because different vendors release sales at different points of the building chart.

All you can do right now is watch the numbers.

  • ozarka

Thanks MJ. Sue, you have to use Internet Explorer or Netscape to view the numbers. Firefox won’t work.

  • sue

Ok I see it! So with 36.20% reporting, we see that Archie is at 67,735! Not bad, I wonder if he will get to the 200,000 predicted album sales? Never the less he is doing great. :)

Isn’t that a Target exclusive? Gives us a window into at least one of the vendors that reported.

  • JudyOhio

Where did NOW 29 come from to go to 2nd? I thought DA was going to land in 2nd. Looks like he has some catching up to do if he is to nab the number 2 spot.
    :unsure_tb:

  • AInoob

Taylor Swift is going to debut at over 700k? *insert Simon Cowell/Fantasia performance face*

  • ozarka

Where did NOW 29 come from to go to 2nd? I thought DA was going to land in 2nd.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Could the initial prediction be that off? It came out of nowhere. I’m hoping that Now 29 is sold at just a handful of outlets and that we’re pretty much seeing its peak right now so that David can move up into its place.

  • sma11ie

OMG, is this what you guys are doing? This real-time stuff is so exciting!

ETA: I’m truly baffled by the folks who are still buying those Now discs in this era of singles downloads… GOOO Archie!

  • cruzceleste

Go David… is like elections all over again…lol Go David…

  • ozarka

According to Amazon, this is the track listing of what’s on Now 29…

    1. Pink – “So What” (ZOMBA)
    2. Katy Perry – “Hot & Cold” (EMM)
    3. Pussycat Dolls – “When I Grow Up” (UMG)
    4. Rihanna – “Disturbia” (UMG)
    5. Ne-Yo – “Closer” (UMG)
    6. Chris Brown – “Forever” (ZOMBA)
    7. Kardinal Offishal w/Akon – “Dangerous” (UMG)
    8. T.I. – “Whatever You Like” (WMG)
    9. Lil Wayne w/T-Pain – “Got Money” (UMG)
    10. Savage w/Soulja Boy – “Swing” (UMG)
    11. Young Jeezy w/Kanye West – “Put On” (UMG)
    12. Yung Berg w/Casha–”The Business” (SONY/BMG)
    13. Jordin Sparks – “One Step at a Time” (ZOMBA)
    14. Leona Lewis – “Better in Time” (SONY/BMG)
    15. Boys Like Girls – “Thunder” (SONY/BMG)

    17. Daughtry – “What About Now” (SONY/BMG)
    18. Matt Nathanson – “Come On Get Higher” (EMM)
    19. Darius Rucker – “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It” (EMM)
    20. Keith Anderson–”I Still Miss You” (SONY/BMG)

All this for only $11.99 at Amazon.com.

  • Michelle

Isnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t that a Target exclusive? Gives us a window into at least one of the vendors that reported.

Yep, and iirc AC/DC is a WalMart exclusive so they’ve reported as well.

  • Kirsten

Yep, and iirc AC/DC is a WalMart exclusive so theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ve reported as well.

Walmart is supplied by two different vendors that tend to report at different times. AC/DC is way too low (HDD is generally not that far off), so there should be another update for them.

  • soundscene

All this for only $11.99 at Amazon.com.

Except NOW! isn’t selling as well on Amazon as David is. lol. I don’t think HDD counts Amazon, though, at least not in the building chart. It takes the top 8 (I believe) vendors, and its final numbers are pretty close to the actual numbers reported by soundscan.

NOW apparently frontloads on the building chart. Last time one debuted, it already had half its sales at 35-36% in. That isn’t too surprising when you consider that NOW doesn’t do well on iTunes, which is one of (if not the) last vendor to report in. NOW barely made the teens on iTunes this week, and David was at #2 for half the week, #3 for the other half (and is still at #3).

From looking at the chart, it seems a little over half of Walmart isn’t in. Target may be all in, but the numbers may get adjusted up when soundscan reports the actual numbers. Christina still looks a little low, which makes HDD about 10K off for her. I suspect most of David’s sales came from Walmart and iTunes–the two vendors that offered special versions.

He ranks #1 at Virgin this week (Taylor is #5, NOW isn’t in the top 10), #2 at Newbury Comics (Taylor is #1, NOW is #8), #9 at Borders (Taylor is #5, NOW isn’t in the top 10), #6 at Hastings (Taylor is #1, NOW is #4). Walmart doesn’t give its top 10. Neither do Target or Best Buy. Even though he’s currently at #3 on iTunes, I’m sure he well-outsold the current #2, Twilight, for this past week on iTunes, putting him at #2 on iTunes with Taylor at #1. NOW is at #15 on iTunes, and that’s higher than it was most of the week.

I would be pretty shocked if NOW stayed at #2 for much longer when more retailers report their numbers.

  • Tatiana

Thank you Soundscene for being the voice of reason here. I don’t want DA to get beat by NOW! that would kinda stink! Man, when is HDD gonna update their numbers again???

By the way – am I correct in thinking DA has surpassed Jordin’s first week sales at this point? So much for not being marketable…

  • cruzceleste

^Not to ruin your fun Tatiana, but Jordin wasn ´t marketable neither (yes I know you don ´t want to put Jordin down), but I think is true that as it is now David has surpasse Jordin first week… I hope he gets steady sales from now on…

  • Tatiana

No, I like Jordin alot! I just don’t like how so many peeps put David A down and said he couldn’t hack it outside of AI – bloggers, the mainstream media, and some other AI fans I used to commiserate with, grrr. They can continue to say what they will, but I like it when the numbers speak for themselves.

  • frogcooke

    Tatiana..

they can say anything they want
but it worked out just fine
so if it works for him then it works for him.

    lol

  • cruzceleste

    ^LOL Froggie…

I know Tatiana, we all are in that together…Go David!!!!

  • gerreb

    haha….good one frogcooke!! :laugh_tb: :clap_tb:

Just to refresh everyone’s memory, here are the predictions HDD made a few day ago…

YOUR FEARLESS WEAKEND TOP 10 CHART PREVIEW: This is clearly Taylor Swiftà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s moment, as the 18-year-old prodigy follows the universal (see how we did that?) critical hosannas for her sophomore album on Big Machine with what is shaping up as a stunning 550-600k bow. Youth will also be served in the #2 slot, which will be occupied by the debut Idol runner-up David Archuleta (Jive/ZLG), with a projected 200-210k. Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s a battle shaping up for #3 between two more debuts: Archuletaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s labelmate T-Pain and UMeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Now 29, as both trend toward 160-170k. This weekà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s charttopper, the soundtrack to Twilight (Chop Shop/Atlantic), is jockeying for the #5 position with AC/DC (Columbia), as each appears on course for 100-110k. The second half of the leader board will most likely be occupied by Repriseà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s debuting Enya (90-100k), Disneyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s High School Musical 3 (85-90k), RCA/RMGà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s Target exclusive on Christina Aguilera (bowing with 70-80k) and either Grand Hustle/Atlanticà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s T.I. or Columbiaà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s John Legend (both looking 60-65k-ish). Archie is closing in on number 2. :clap_tb:

Hey, I thought Archie would come in between 160-180K. Maybe I’m getting better at these predictive powers. HDD, call me! LOL.

Good show Archie. I’ll wait for the official numbers before running comparisons.

  • E

Very proud of you David! those are great numbers no matter what :D now hoping for consistent album sales the coming weeks.

  • abbysee

Yeah David! Quite okay with those numbers. Let’s see where they go from here. I am sure he is quite proud of himself.

  • blissful

Great job, Archie! Who is Taylor Swift? Sheesh, that’s a lot of albums.

  • LK08

Someone said that amazon is not part of HDD and that it should go up for Billboard’s numbers.

Last week, #1 was Pink and she sold 180, 470, so David did great!! Woohoo!

  • Keel

Wow, Taylor Swift sold a CRAZY number of albums.

blissful, she is a country (poppish) singer/songwriter who is big with the teen crowd. She also dated and got dumped by one of the Jonas brothers recently. The only song of hers that I heard on the radio (HAC/Top 40) was Tears on My Guitar which I actually found execrable, but I heard that the reviews for her new album are generally favorable. She’s been releasing a single a week from this new album and has gotten mass single downloads off that gimmick. She’s apparently built herself a head of steam that’s translated into full album sales. Wow!

  • LK08

Taylor is a crossover artist. Her song, “Love Story” has been a huge hit. Check out her music video of it on youtube. Not bad.

  • ozarka

Woohoo!! David’s album debuts at Number 2! Congratulations, David!!! :clap_tb:

  • soundscene

Last week, #1 was Pink and she sold 180, 470, so David did great!!

Actually, last week’s #1 was Twilight with 165K. Pink was #2, like David, with 180K a couple weeks ago.

I had heard that Amazon wasn’t in the final HDD numbers, but I don’t know that for sure. Soundscan numbers are generally around the same as HDD.

  • LK08

soundscene, thanks for the clarification. Someone gave those figures on another forum.

  • jodeb

Still glad to see Bucky has a song on the charts in “I’ll Walk.” Okay, I’m living in the past, lol, but I do love country music and I do love Bucky.

  • itsalleternal

I finally found the full numbers available at http://www.mediabasemusic.com/charts.asp (although they aren’t ranked, the spin count is shown).
