I’ve been expecting to see Jason Castro’s song to show up on this. My radio station in Podunk, USA plays it all the time, as much as they play Battlefield.

Even though Jason’s song has been available for awhile and some stations have added it to their playlist (though not many) his official single drop date is today, 10/5.

  • jms

This is the top 50 in airplay, right? Did Kris make the top 100?

  • sidewalkstory

mj, today is the 5th, not the 4th.

  • Q3

jms: This is the top 50 in airplay, right? Did Kris make the top 100?

    No.

  • suebrody

jms, I also am curious. Kris topped the top 100? Wasn’t his drop date last Tuesday?

  • BCU79

LLWD is not on this list because it has not reached the Top 40 on any of the different radio formats yet.

The song does not officially go for adds until next week.

Sometimes we get leaks further than top 50, but rarely.

jms, I also am curious. Kris topped the top 100? Wasn’t his drop date last Tuesday?

Next Monday (12) for HAC. Next Tuesday (13) for Pop.

mj, today is the 5th, not the 4th.

Yes, I know, but the airplay is as of the 4th. I cannot predict the airplay for today. I always date it as of the Sunday to try to indicate that it’s only up to Sunday.

  • Kirsten

Thanks, brie. So odd that my little station is playing it so much. I guess I don’t expect any station to play something that other stations are not, in the age of clearchannel.

    thx for the explanation Kirsten

Are there any numbers for Kris?

These numbers are for the first 40 in each format. Kris will probably be in the top 50 on the HAC chart, and in the top 100 on the pop chart. Brian Mansfield should have the numbers posted later today, if he’s feeling better. I believe that Kris was at 67 on the HAC last week, and in the high 90′s on the pop chart.

Q3, since Kris made the top 100 on both the pop (Top40) and HAC charts last week, how do you know that he didn’t make both or either chart this week? His spins increased on both charts, and at the very least, we know that he made the HAC chart.

  • brie200

flicker, it might depend on where you are. If it’s a radio station that Jason’s hit in the past few weeks on his radio tour or if they are advertising an event with him, then it’s likely to be a station that would give his single more airplay.

  • CindyM

Wow, Come Back To Me has long legs, doesn’t it?? That song has been out forever. I rarely heard it on my radio station here in Albuquerque, but after he played a show in Santa Fe and visited the radio stations here, I hear it on the HAC station all the time now. Amazing what touring can do for you!

  • Michelle

Wow, Come Back To Me has long legs, doesn’t it?? That song has been out forever.

Seriously — it became 2nd single in what, February? and just now is topping the playlist at the HAC station here.

  • washpd

LLWD’s spins and audience impression numbers are way up this week, helped quite a bit by its two spins on Open House Party last night (which reaches a large audience), and the Z100 add and multiple daily spins. The single has not even gone for official adds yet, so these numbers pre-add date are really good.

It seems clear to me that Jive’s intention with regard to LLWD is to use it not as a commodity itself, but, as a marketing tool to sell Kris and the album. The timing of the rollout fits perfectly for when the album will drop, getting LLWD to really good airplay and Kris to maximum audience impression at just the right time.

  • leome

    No.

No what? It’s top 100 on HAC and Top 40. It should be really close to top 50 on HAC

  • babybelle32

I think you’re right, washpd. If this song had started out of the gate with a bang, that would have been nice, but it would have also been indicative that the sales and attention had more to do with Kris Allen from American Idol, than Kris Allen the artist or even the song itself. By working it’s way up the chart, and sending Kris out on promotional tours, Jive is introducing Kris the individual artist to people, and hoping or ensuring that the song will be near or at it’s peak in terms of airplay, at the same time that the album is released.

In the past, we have seen contestants debut with a bang, mostly thanks to AI fans buying anything, regardless if they liked the music or the radio stations that played the artists music, but then just as fast as they hit the charts, the former contestants fell off the charts just as fast. The record labels capitalized on the contestants AI fame, but did nothing to establish them with radio stations, or listeners/buyers who didn’t watch AI. This doesn’t seem to be Jive’s plan with Kris, and it wasn’t their plan with Jordin.

Kristen-you can’t predict the numbers and I was gonna ask about the lottery darn it..(bad joke)

You’re not kidding. I’m in a top 20 market and Come Back to Me is #2 on the HAC stations playlist and Light On is still #19. You’d think we’d be able to get a concert scheduled in the area with all that DC love but so far, no such luck.
