Grrrr!!!! The Mediabase links have been changed and nobody seems to know how to get full access to the charts. Blah!

Note: Numbers indicate position on the chart while numbers in brackets indicate the position on the chart the previous week. ‘^’ indicates that the song has a bullet in that format.

I apologize in advance if I’ve missed anybody in the top 50. This change has thrown me off my standard way of generating these charts. Please let me know if anybody who should be there is not and I’ll add them.

If you are trying to follow somebody not in the top 50, please use the following link: Quick Cut Info. Enter the name of the song or the artist and search. Change “7 Day” to “Quick Cut Data” for the song you are interested in and select “Go”. Select “Go” again and you will get a chart of all the formats the song has been played in for the last 28 days (it won’t give rankings, just spins and total audience impressions).

    Grrr, indeed! I loved getting to see the whole chart so I could detect how D.C. is doing comparatively in terms of rising and falling. Like, right now, are most of the AC #’s above TOML still falling while he’s still rising, so he’s likely to go even higher soon, that kind of thing. And how fast are the #’s coming up behind him. ETc. Okay, so maaayybeee I was getting a tad compulsive. :)

    Thank you sooo much for finding this much for us, mj.

    You can get information on the Top 40 spins in a variety of formats by going to http://www.fmqb.com/. In the column, put your mouse cursor over MEDIABASE 24/7, and the formats will pop up to the right. No information outside of the Top 40 in a given format, however.

    Yeah, I’m compulsive like that too. Mediabase restricted access to their real-time charts on July 11th with no explanation. But you can still get the chart movement data you’re looking for in selected formats by registering for an account at http://www.allaccess.com/.

    For instance, Cook’s TOML still has his strongest bullet in HAC (^236 spins), and the tracks in the few slots ahead of him are showing some weakness. He could jump a few slots there in the coming week and may ultimately break into the Top-5. I would also expect a Top-5 bow in AC next week, since he’s right on the cusp and still has a strong bullet in that format.

    Also, while TOML feels like it has stalled a bit on Top-40 radio (it has only inched up 1 slot in 2 weeks), it did get adds on 13 new mainstream playlists this week (including one major-market station, KIIS-FM in LA), which is a bigger jump in adds than it has seen since debuting back in May.

    Thank you Kirsten for getting what info you could. It is very much appreciated. A lot of the DC fans like me were keeping track of the Mediabase info. I had the link saved in my bookmarks and would post the numbers daily until early last week when I could no longer pull that link up and was keeping a log of the stats also. GRRRR for sure! lol

    I am also registered at All Access so at least for those of us that are, we aren’t cut off to everything which is good. LOL

    Folkfan and LadyMadonna, I’d give you my first-born as a show of gratitude, but he’s 24, so you may not want him. On the other hand, he’s very cute and he’s self-supporting. :)

    Okay, so. . .trying to remember how he was “moving” when last I saw these charts. . .seems to me he’s having a surge all of a sudden. His “move” on AC is by far the biggest of any of the artists who are in the Top 10 with him. I’m just going to go ahead and say this dangerous thing from out here at the end of the creaky limb: I think the top spot on AC is not out of the question. Eventually.

    Also looks like a surge (compared to last week)on HAC, and I definitely agree it looks as if #5, at least, is within range soon.

    Top 40 looks much tougher to climb. Some of those Top 10 artists are sure sliding fast right now. Maybe the whole list will shift and pull him up with it.

    I wonder if there has been a Tipping Point in radio plays in the last week. Hmmm. The tour just has to be helping, right?

  • FolkFan

    Spritely: Ha!

    Seems like the tour is helping. Also, it seemed like there was a downshift in spins across these formats during July Fourth weekend, so we’re only now seeing the dust settle from that.

    I’ve been interested to read that some DJ’s (I have no idea how many) are introducing the song as being sung by David Cook, without mentioning Idol. At TWOP this morning, somebody reported hearing Kacee Kasem do that. My totally-fangirl interpretation of this kind of thing is that a lot of radio people like and respect him–maybe they saw him on Idol, maybe they interviewed him–and they actually want to help him, not hurt him. And I have now reached my wishful thinking quota for today.

    As FolkFan said, I think the charts are still rebounding from all the “1000 Song Weekends” over the 4th of July holiday. But the tour also does seem to be helping the single pick-up airplay. I posted this at TWoP this morning but here’s a list of the Top-40 starters for TOML this week. These are stations that just added the track to their playlist during the week ending July 13, 2008. I marked the ones that are in markets with either a recent tour stop, or those where the tour will be passing through within the next 2 weeks:

    * WDJQ-FM Canton, OH
    * WPIA-FM Peoria, IL
    WXKB-FM Ft. Myers
    WXYK-FM Biloxi
    * WZBZ-FM Atlantic City
    KKPN-FM Corpus Christi
    * KHOP-FM Modesto, CA
    WNOK-FM Columbia, SC
    WABB-FM Mobile
    * KKRZ-FM Portland, OR
    WIHT-FM Washington, DC
    * KIIS-FM Los Angeles
    WHKF-FM Harrisburg

  • gabam

    WIHT-FM Washington, DC
    * KIIS-FM Los Angeles

    These are major!!! If he gets in heavy rotation at those stations, he will shoot up the charts. If KHOP puts it in heavy rotation, the rotation will be very heavy.

    Best wishes to Cook.

    Interesting, LadyMadonna. That seems like a lot of Starters.

    Totally out of left field. . .I wonder if one of the reasons there may be no DC single released this summer is that TBTB want to see exactly how high TOML can go on radio. The higher this one goes, the bigger and quicker boost for the next one, I’d think.

    Ack! I didn’t realize the time! Must work! I guess I thought I was employed by a David Cook Statistical Research Team, lol.

    Eta: “. . .want to see exactly how high TOML can go on radio” without a new single to confuse things.

  • tierbee

    WIHT-FM Washington, DC

    That one is definitely a big deal around here.

    It’s been playing here on 92.5 but that strikes me as more of an adult channel. (Which is why at 35 I often end up listening there instead of 99.5/WIHT which plays a lot I like… and a lot that gives me a headache. Guess I’m getting to the point where my parents started calling my music “noise”? OH NO!)

  • jdanton2

    Jordin Sparks and Tattoo is #10 at AC.

    Thanks for catching that! I’ve added it to the list in the main post.

    I’ve noticed that here in NYC on the stations Z100 and 102.7. On WPLJ I’ve heard them announce it both ways, depending on the DJ. The times I’ve heard it in the afternoon, the DJs tended to leave off the AI part.

    Thank you so much for all of this info. Looks good. Just wanted to clarify that Canton is nowhere near any upcoming tour stops. It is in my neck of the woods and the closest tour stop to me is in Cleveland (but not until September 4).

    Oops! I actually knew that Canton was near Cleveland, but my scribbled post-it notes had that tour date marked as 8/4 instead of 9/4. Sorry, and thanks for the clarification!

    Tuesday: DC has moved on up from 34 to 33 on Top 40, but there’s bigger movement below him, so I don’t know if he can hold that. He has moved from 10 to 9 on HAC. Holding steady at 6 on AC, but he’ll move up there.
