Fantasia and Elliott in the single digits on the charts. Bucky has a top 10 radio hit in country. I guess radio does and will play idol music after all. It would be interesting to figure out why some songs get radio play and others (really just as good) don’t.

  • dante

Elliott, Bucky and Kellie P just keeping inching their way up the charts. Good for them!

How can Ayla be that high on AC? Very strange….. does she get alot of promotion in the NE?

    and where is JPL?

  • Allison

I have never heard Kim Locke’s song on any local AC station and it’s consistently ranked so high on AC. It’s like a phantom song! What’s with that?

  • Kirsten

She seems to get herself in the news in Boston a fair bit, but most of her spins seem to be in the South.
McAllen (TX), Corpus Christi (TX), Lafayette (LA), Beaumont (TX) and Jackson (MS) are her big markets.

    Woo Hoo – Go Elliott!!!!

BTW I now love Heaven Knows! It’s a cool song and I love it even more now that I’ve seen it live!

I’ve never heard Ayla or Kim Locke on the radio and the station I listen to at work is AC…

  • poporange

Good for Elliot and Bucky they both have good songs and deserve the playing time.

Ayla might pass Taylor going down, that would add fuel to some fire for some critics or bots.

Kim Lock is played here on the station I listen too and hope they add Elliot he would be perfect..

I’m seeing Elliott at #30 AC and #35 last week. We must be looking at different charts. You got a link?

Oops. Transposed the digits on that one (fixed now). But, we are looking at different charts. I have Elliott at #29 this week and #34 last week.

Here is the link to the Mediabase published chart:
    http://www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/AllAccess/Charts.asp?format=a1r&cutoff=0&showtopn=2000&showyear=y&dpt=n

You are probably looking at the monitored chart.

  • sammy

Kirsten, do you know what the difference is between the different charts: monitored vs published?

  • Kirsten

Kirsten, do you know what the difference is between the different charts: monitored vs published?

The published charts survey a subset of the stations surveyed by the monitored charts. Mediabase does not monitor all the radio stations out there. So, as I understand it, they select a subset of the stations that they do monitor that better reflect the entire spectrum of stations (kind of like how the polling companies only survey 1800 people, but project their results for the entire nation because the 1800 people they select are representative).

The published charts are the ones that are used in the countdowns and are more likely to reflect the BB charts (BillBoard uses Nielsen BDS to survey radion stations and it does the same thing…monitors a subset of the stations).

The monitored stations give you a better idea of how many spins a song might have gotten, but the published charts give you a better idea of how a song is doing in relation to other songs across the nation.

    Thanks, Kirsten. That’s interesting…to me, anyway. :wink_wp:

I hear two idols on the radio…. that’s it …. 2 …. Kelly and Chris …. they are played over and over.. specially Chris…… I used to hear Carrie, but not anymore. And I listen to ALOT of radio.

  • hs

I’m a Chris fan but he’s getting waaaaay overplayed!

Hey, 9 is a lucky number for Elliott! :)

  • WVIdolFan

Im in WV, Charleston and the country station here plays carrie and bucky a lot.

  • sammy

I hear Chris, Elliott, Carrie, and Kelly on my local station. Good for them. Chris was played a lot but it has eased off lately.

Kelly’s “Sober” is the number 1 song in one of the two local stations I have started listening to recently. Elliott’s WFY is, of course, the number song in that other station. Heh. ;-D
