    ‘No Boundaries’ : 20 AC (18)

Stick a fork in it. This one is done. Please don’t make him keep singing it on the tour. Wouldn’t Walmart like it if he sang “She Works Hard for the Money”? Yes, they would. And we always want to make Walmart happy, don’t we? Yes, you as a vendor, do.

    LOL.

The major reason I stopped listening to radio. The same songs over and over again. I will listen to what I want to listen to on my ipod.

    ‘No Boundaries’ : 18 AC (20)

Is that reversed? Because Kelly’s MLWSWY is 18 AC .
But I agree, I wish he didn’t have to sing it on tour. I’m glad I live near Boston, that plays Heartless all the time. I think I heard it 3 or 4 times over the weekend. I was a happy girl.

Kristen—it is in the very small print in the winners contract “sing a lame a** song” It also makes other feeling bummed a little happy thier not singing such a lame-a** song..

It is. Thanks for pointing it out. I’ve fixed it.

Ah-ha. Finally a sensible explanation for the horrid coronation songs. You may be on to something!

As goes Boston, so goes the rest of the country? A girl can dream…

I have a feeling MJ’s numbers are going to be crazy again, as Amazon shipped many of last week’s orders this weekend. I know this, er, firsthand. :-)

  • SpenserJ

It might be easier at this point to count the number of industry records that Michael hasn’t broken.

word. just read this on hdd – it’s a bittersweet feeling to see him moving so many units – i still don’t think we’ve absorbed the full impact of his loss in the pop music genre…… he is untouchable as the king of pop, and nothing said or written about him in the coming years will ever diminish that…. rest in peace, michael… your fans will keep your legacy alive….

DON”T STOP ‘TIL YOU GET ENOUGH: Forget our sales projections from Friday morning. Michael Jackson’s Number Ones moved nearly 225k at Wal-Mart, easily making it the best-selling album this week. We’re told that about half of the end caps were taken up by M.J. product and that, in some locations, Jackson CDs were merchandised in at least a half-dozen other areas throughout the store. The selling price was $9 even. When sales from other retailers are added in, Number Ones will easily top the 300k mark in sales this week. Holy mackeral. (7/6a)

CBTM lost its bullet in HAC as of today, and it didn’t pick up any new HAC adds yesterday. It should hit #7 anyway, because the song ahead of it is dropping at a pretty fast rate, but that will be its peak, I believe.

So, it’s getting close to time to announce a new single, I think. And DC had better get a third single if Kelly is getting one despite her anemic sales numbers.

CBTM lost its bullet in HAC as of today

I went to the DCO thread to see what they have to say, and from Folkfan’s wording, it sounded to me like CBTM lost its spincrease which, from what I understand, is not the same as losing its bullet. Can someone confirm?

And DC had better get a third single if Kelly is getting one despite her anemic sales numbers.

I agree. Question is, which will it be? Haha. A much-debated topic. I hear Lie and LOTM are on the stickers along with LO and CBTM. Hmmm…?

  • Aileen

CBTM quick cut increased by 8 spins on HAC, but it was at -6 on mediabase monitored stations. Some of it may be due to holiday music specials. We’ll know more in about one week. There was one HAC add this week, although it was logged on 7/2. There are only a few HAC stations left that haven’t added CBTM, so few or no adds at this point is to be expected. I do agree that the new single should be announced soon.

    Thanks for the info, Aileen!

  • tinawina

Yeah, I think HAC stations are some of the main ones on the MJ spin-a-thon. LOL. I expect his albums sales will be low again too. Hopefully he’ll hold steady with last week, but I suspect he’ll do whatever the rest of the chart did again. We’ll see what’s really up in a week or so.

Not that I’m not ready for a new single. I am. RCA, um, can we get that going please? Thanks.

  • FolkFan

That’s about right. Prior to the July Fourth weekend, CBTM had a spincrease on the HAC chart of just over 100, and then its spincrease dropped over the next three days. We’ll see how it does once the MJ and holiday stuff washes through the system—it could be peaking, but it might not be.

Given how well DCTR has continued to sell, as well as the continued good spins for all of the DC singles, I feel sure that there will be another single. What it will be, well, RCA has never consulted me on that sort of thing, so…. [smile]

On a more general matter, there really is a question as to how this MJ phenomenon is going to affect other CDs and songs. Will there be songs or records that lose their momentum (or their chance at initial momentum) and never recover? There is definite evidence from last week that sales for non-MJ CDs were depressed. I guess that the hope is that a song or CD that loses some momentum during this timeframe will regain it in the next couple of weeks, but that might not be true for all of them.
