I can’t believe no Boundaries is still hanging around.

  • lindsaylopez

wow, no boundaries is still there..

  • Tamarynd

I can’t believe Come Back To Me re-appeared on the Pop chart. . .

  • Aileen

Come Back to Me reappeared mostly due to songs going recurrent and being taken off the Pop chart. It’s the same reason the Daughtry’s No Surprise had a nice jump even though today’s quick cut for it was fairly dismal.

Come Back to Me may not be what Pop wants, but I thought that Daughtry would quickly climb the pop charts based on name and previous success alone, but it does seem that CHR is going more into the dance music direction. On HAC, No Surprise is doing great which also supports the theory of HAC being more Pop/Rock friendly.

  • Jolene

At least it seems the CHR stations that love CBTM continue to love it, since it’s been bubbling under the Top 50 for a while. Oh well, I’m happy to see it in the Top 10 on HAC this week.

No Boundaries is still moving up on AC, but isn’t doing anything at all elsewhere, which means it’s potential selling power is very limited. Nothing out of the ordinary for Coronation singles, it should be long gone by the time Kris has his lead album single out.

  • Tamarynd

^Aileen and Jolene, thanks for the info. I just thought it unusual for CBTM to re-appear on Pop after all these weeks.

Will we see Michael Jackson songs on these charts next week, under the recurrent status?

  • Kirsten

Will we see Michael Jackson songs on these charts next week, under the recurrent status?

I imagine they will show on the recurrent versions of the charts. Some his songs got signficant airplay.

  • CFIdolsfan

Slow and steady for Phil, :-) . He has several events coming where he will get to showcase his new songs some more. He was awesome last night, according to one fan, who went to the Freedom Celebration concert he headlined in Cleveland, TN.

  • FolkFan

So far, I haven’t seen any sign of Michael Jackson songs being recognized for their heavy recurrent airplay, which has surprised me. [You can get the charts on All Access to display currents and recurrents, but no MJ songs appeared when I did that.] Maybe Billboard’s charts will be different…. I’m really looking forward to seeing all of the MJ numbers this week. Word on Pulse is that HDD will include MJ sales; if that’s correct, we should be starting to get some interesting numbers later today.

Speaking of All Access, I was wandering around the site, checking for add dates, etc., and I found this under “Cool New Music” for the HAC format?

Would we see big numbers though? I shouldn’t imagine the stores would keep a big stock of Michael Jackson’s old albums, or would they? From what I heard they ran out of stock very quickly.

  • FolkFan

If you think of each store in the US having on average, say, 3 MJ CDs (no duplicates of any one of them) and selling out of all of them, that would add up. Plus, the digital stores have sold a ton of them, as they didn’t have the stock problem.

  • Kirsten

Speaking of All Access, I was wandering around the site, checking for add dates, etc., and I found this under ‘Cool New Music’ for the HAC format?

Interesting. Aren’t those things paid for? I wonder if they will send it for adds.

    Word on Pulse is that HDD will include MJ sales;

HDD always just reports the numbers and doesn’t filter out albums that are ineligible for the BB200. I remember when “The Eagles” came out with their huge numbers and HDD bragged that they would report them even though it was ineligible to chart on the BB200 (due to it only being available at one vendor). BB changed their rules that week.

I agree though, that it will be tough for MJ to chart very high if he didn’t have a lot of CDs in the store. He’s certainly doing well digitally and on Amazon. We shall see. I’m sure Epic/Motown is gnashing their teeth that MJ didn’t give them enough warning to restock the shelves. I’m only half-kidding.

  • FolkFan

It would not be surprising if the Essential MJ or his Number Ones CD outsell the top current CD this week. [BEP was initially estimated to sell between 90-95K.) Should be interesting to see—we probably won’t have a good sense as to how his sales are until itunes reports, and then Amazon will just be part of the “estimation” that HDD does at the end of its process.

    Wow. What a first update.

Itunes typically isn’t part of the first update. If it is not here, we should see a pretty big jump for several of those titles.

So, I have a cool story. I’ve been saving it for this thread.

I was tooling around in my car on Saturday, running errands and I happen to have the local HAC station, Mix 98.5 playing.

A song was introduced–”new music from Mix 98″ and it was Kris Allen’s “Heartless”! Looks like Mix has added the song to their playlist!

This particular station loves all things Idol, and I remember after Season 5 finished, Chris Daughtry’s “Wanted Dead Or Alive” was in heavy rotation on the station.

That’s when I got an inkling that Chris might have something going on…

  • Kirsten

LOL. Well, I, for one, hope that the Mix’s magic touch holds just as true for Kris as it did for Daughtry. I just checked the add board for Heartless and it was also added to KDUK (Top 40 in Eugene). It’s had 17 spins this past week on WBMX in Boston.

It does appear that the song isn’t getting much airplay elsewhere.

  • SashaB

    Wow, MJ’s sales are impressive.

I suspect that Kris Allen will do quite well come fall. Good for him.

  • cookcricket

WooHoo! mj, that’s what I like to hear! I hope it holds true for Kris too!!!!

  • FolkFan

Arggh—I wish that HDD would update.

Nice that Kris’s Heartless is getting some adds. It may not be huge, but it’s a good sign, I would think.

  • Aileen

    Latest tweet from HDD

HITSDDMichael Jackson will have three of the Top 5 biggest selling albums this week, maybe even the top 3…will post final numbers tomorrow

I can’t wait to see those numbers.

  • FolkFan

See, now they’re just mocking us, if they have the numbers to say that but aren’t updating the buiding sales chart.

  • SpenserJ

Should be an interesting chart week. I’m still just impressed with how many cd’s Carrie still sells after having that album out for so long. That sucker’s never going away!

  • weareallinnocent

I must be the biggest sap on the planet. Every post here about HDD and Michael Jackson’s numbers puts a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes! I’m crying about numbers, forgodsake!!!

Note to self: Get a friggin’ grip! :cry_tb:

Word on the street is that Carrie is going to drop another album in early October. I don’t think she has been out of the BB 200 since 2005.

    Yay!

I still wish they’d push it as a possible B-Side. Funny thing about Eugene – it’s a big college town. This could be a good sign.

Yes it is. It’s also very organic/granola. Another good sign? LOL (the press release refered to Kris’s music as being organic)

  • FolkFan

Well, damn. And Amazon hasn’t hit yet. Looks like three MJ CDs selling over 100K this week.
