MJ’s Idol Pool Week 9 Update

I threw all my points on Brooke, too. This week is actually the least conflicted I’ve been. I don’t think I’ll change it at all between now and the show! (But don’t hold me to that.)

I put 15 on Brooke and 5 on Carly. Maybe I should put some on Jason.

Arrgh! I didn’t want to think about it. I think Jason is safe, I think Carly should be safe, but……Brooke should be gone, but she is just so darn sympathetic. Not going to change my pick though. Of course I hedged my bet. This is torture.

I’m putting all of mine on Brooke; if I do end up splitting, it’ll be with Carly.

There’s talk over at IDF that TV Guide leaked that Jason was going home.

I’m still not completely convinced that it won’t be Syesha. She was really good last night, but I’m not sure that she has the fan base to save her, especially when she’s up against the dreadheads and VFTW.

Apparently, a TVG reporter named Adam Schubak spoke with Ryan?? I’m very skeptical.

Ryan’s been doing this for 7 years. I think he knows not to blab the results to reporters. That said, I’m still nervous for Jason.

ETA:No way Ryan finds out until he gets to the studio today for the show.

I really hope that rumor isn’t true. I didn’t even think Ryan knew the results ahead of time, and he certainly wouldn’t be telling TV Guide about it. There simply cannot be 3 girls in the Top 5. One of them could sneak into the finale with a David and we know TPTB don’t want that. I think Jason is fine.

I’m putting my points on Brooke, but I really don’t have a strong feeling about which girl will be leaving.

CarieB, I think those people probably haven’t updated their picks and one of their choices defaulting to David Cook. Surely!

Jason BETTER be safe. I spent two hours, STRAIGHT, on two phones voting for him.

I haven’t been that dedicated to voting since Elliott.

Carly Smithson performed second to last and got excellent comments from the judges, including Simon. But, perhaps people felt it was safe not to vote for her this week, and she could be a surprise boot.

Oh, I hope. I can’t stand her and her crazy antics anymore.

I don’t know if Syesha’s fanbase is big enough to save her. I’m betting on either Brooke or Carly as the boot, considering last night was probably “Save Jassoonn!” night.

If there is vote splitting going on between the two, I don’t think it’s enough to hurt Cook at all. I think he’s garnered enough of his own fan-base to keep him safe. His performance wasn’t a “Cook” performance, but it certainly didn’t lose him his already gained fans and I think got him the votes of new ones last night. Cookie isn’t going anywhere NEAR that bottom 3 tonight. Look at DI. They’ve been wrong before, but the number one (in green) has never gone according to their site. He’s so safe.

Well, I stopped looking at DI going into the Top 12 (here’s to me and my laziness), but I’ll take your word for it. I was just worried, since I only got about 10 busy signals last night out of 150-something calls for him (and I didn’t dare to vote-split with Jason after that), compared to about 100 busies from about 275 calls last week.

This will most likely be one week where Syesha won’t have to hit the stools (or center stage, or wherever the hell TPTB tells Ryan to place the Bottom 3 tonight). Whoever her fanbase is, they probably power-voted last night after that Broadway-ready performance. I can see a big block of the casual vote having gone to her, too.

I haven’t heard anything today…yet. Word has it that he’s been sporting a cast/sling at the shows. Could it be that someone threatened him in the back alley for getting the fans in a tizzy every freakin’ Wednesday afternoon????!!!!

I’m not in this pool thing, and I’m glad. I would really have no clue who to put my points on tonight, other than I wouldn’t put any on DC. My gut feeling is Brooke. My second gut feeling is Jason. But it could easily be Syesha or Carly too. I don’t know how you guys choose!

Ryan could seriously lose his job for that. I doubt it’s true. Really? Seacrest may act goofy sometimes, but he’s hardly an idiot.

The week that Michael Johns (waaa) was voted off, who did they pick to win here? What was the buzz then?

As for the Jason boot – I won’t believe it til I see it. His fan base is so strong. Brooke SHOULD go, for sure, but any of the girls could be in danger tonight.

That’s bull. I clicked on that link – and the alleged TV guide employee says “could this be a spoiler for your site?”. Like anyone would ask that question. Knowing the bootie of the most popular tv show in the world before anyone else does? Yeah, that would kind of be a spoiler. And, someone from TV Guide would know full well that it was. If TV Guide had that kind of scoop – it would be on their site, they wouldn’t be sending it to some unknown blog.

The competition is so predictable right now.. I really don’t think Little Archie will give be any threat to DC come finale week.

IMO MJ was the only one who could at least give Cookie a run for the money, it was certainly a mistake to let him go so soon.

I still don’t buy it (although originally I never thought Jason would get past week 6, but I wasn’t expecting everyone to like him as much as I do), I really don’t think that Ryan would do that. He would get his pants sued off.

Ryan is one of the few who do, but he doesn’t know long before the show goes to air. I recall him talking about the Chris D boot and how he was in the producer’s office and they told him who was going home. He was stunned. I seem to recall him saying he had a tough time with that show because he felt so weird around Chris, but he had to be careful not to telegraph anything.

Ryan has to know who is getting the boot partly because he’s not allowed to put it on his little cards anymore. Ever since Clay read who was the winner of S2, they’ve had blank cards for Ryan to “read” from. Jordin confirmed that last year (those tall ones! They are always taking advantage of shrimpy Ryan). Plus, he needs to know how to set up shots, etc, etc. The dudes in the editing department also know.

If TV Guide had that kind of scoop – it would be on their site, they wouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t be sending it to some unknown blog.

A lot of times they get told things but they have to sit on the information or they lose a source. If Ryan told them that, they might not be able to publish it or they lose some insider status with AI. TV Guide does a lot of special feature things with AI.

Nonetheless, that TV Guide thing looks like a hoax. I refuse to read IDF to find out what the rest of the story is, but it just looks really lame. It doesn’t sound like a reporter to me.

It doesn’t matter the size of the fanbase, as TPTB will remove whomever they choose and right now, Jason is sucking votes from Cook and Archuleta.

Well this little incident will now cause the fans of whoever does go home to smell a rat. If Jason does go home of course his fans will be upset.

If someone else goes home their fans will wonder if Jason was really supposed to but they saved him because of the leakage and booted someone else instead.

Ryan finds out who the bootee is when he arrives at Idol in the afternoon.

It’s stupid. Like Kirsten said, that email doesn’t ring true. A reporter wouldn’t send an email like that.

The link at IDF is actually pretty amusing. That blogger is getting her head handed to her on a platter. What did she expect? She’s probably just trying to drive traffic to her site. Wow, and she mentions the sources name! Bush league!

BTW, If I happened to receive information like that I wouldn’t post it ahead of time. I would never spoil something the contestants themselves haven’t learned yet. That’s crappy.

NOLA, actually, whoever gets the lowest amount of votes will be removed from the show. TPTB can’t do anything about it. They can try to persuade people to vote for certain contestants but the final outcome is America’s vote. Do you really think they voluntarily removed Chris Daughtry in 4th place?

Sarah – Don’t forget there were two phone numbers for each contestant so no doubt there were less busy’s. Also, in the previous weeks of my power voting caper, I rarely got any busy signals. Last night I had more busy’s than any other week previously, and on both lines. But by 20 minutes in, the lines (both) opened up. Actually, I think busy signals are driven by where you live.

Also, anyone remember – is this the night of dividing everyone into three groups of two to a group? Maybe we will be able to guess who’s getting the most votes by their groups. But I guess sneaky Ryan could trick us again!

Interesting. I’ve always believed that TMZ worked with Nigel and company. I think they get their song spoilers straight from the source. And, unfortunately, I think the producers leak the negative stuff to them as well.

There were 2 people who screwed up the lyrics last night — David A and Brooke.

The difference between David A. and Brooke is that David A had the presence of mind to keep going. Brooke on the other hand completely forgot them and made the band stop and start, which makes her look much worse than if she would have just muddled her way through it a few seconds until her she started remembering.

FAIRNESS dicatates that Brooke goes. Simon and Randy from the beginning have always emphasized NOT FORGETTING your lyrics PRECISELY to avoid this problem live.

Look, I love Brooke and she has always been my favorite girl in the show because I love the Carly Simon/Carole King vibe about her. But she is always on the verge of a breakdown every night. It’s getting uncomfortable watching her. She isn’t a performer cut out to compete. She’s probably one who deserves to be in a smaller, more compfortable venue where people aren’t concentrating on every dot and “T” of your singing.

I’ll buy her album because I love the pleasantness of her voice and I like her style. However, I’m not sure I can stand another nervous wreck performance like this. America should really be merciful and let her go. Number 6 is a good place to go ( like Kellie Pickler ).

Every year we get the “employee saw the boot video being made”. I think they keep updating all of the idols boot videos; I don’t believe they start making the videos the minute they find out who gets the boot. I’m sticking with Brooke. All 20 points, baby!

I live in OH, and if I try to vote on my landline I can’t get through at all (I’m in Cooktardsville, OH, BTW :smile1_tb:), but I can get though with very, very few busy signals on my cell phone (two I think? Calling, not texting…) I think the carrier is the difference.

I am nervous, too…I may be a Cooktard, but I like Jason and I don’t want to see him go yet. Brooke definitely deserves that more, IMO.

I at least wanted Jason Top 4, but he just really sukked it hard last night. It was worse than KLCs 8 days a week and probably one of the worst in Idol history. What was up with him breathing so hard into the mic? I hope someone advises him to fix that. I still adore him and will buy his music but Its not a shocker that hes going home. Its a shame it got leaked though.

CJ – I like Cook too – each for a different mood – I hope they both go thru to the end and G-Dolly NOTHING can EVER be worse than how Kristy country – fried that Beatle song – nothing I dont think?

Oh Dolly, Jason had a temp of 104 and had an IV in him before he went out but said nothing. Neither did the judges like they did for Rami and Kristy when THEY were sick HMMMM???
