Miley Cyrus Naked on a Wrecking Ball

Miley Cyrus released a music video for her new power ballad, “Wrecking Ball” and the concept is soooo innovative.

I’m kidding! Are you ready for this? Miley swings naked on an actual wrecking ball.

No. It’s not a parody. She’s serious. Oh so serious. Really, Miley, you need to be more literal or we simply will not get it.

When she’s not naked, Miley licks masonry and romps around in her underwear looking as if she’s badly in need of a bowel movement. Metamucil, honey!

Seriously, Miley, you gotta stop trying so hard. It’s not a good look.

i actually like this one, at least the song

  • b_james

    She is officially the worst.

  • I LOVE Britney

I disagree with you on this! This one is much better than WCS! I love everything, even the naked part! The only thing I feel a little awkward is when she licked the hammer!

  • gem2477

    Stop Miley, just stop.

  • Amy Beth

Couldn’t they have included a spray tan in the video budget? The tan lines were pretty distracting!

  • lollypop12

I don’t even know what’s wrong with her. Why does she think being naked and licking hammers is attractive? All I saw (and want to unsee) is her pubescent naked body, her big saliva filled mouth and really bad acting. She can’t even act emotionally in a music video, no wonder her film career has been in a rut.

  • Larc

It boggles the mind to think what she may do eventually.

  • Joanie Yan

She accomplished what she wanted – she got us to watch (although it did give me a headache).

  • Gwen

A desperate cry for attention. it’s sad, really.

  • Darko_5

Well that should get about 100 million hits by tomorrow. I think this new MIley all started with the haircut didn’t it? I

  • MichaelG (MikhailXO)

Oh wow!! Who is this daringly innovative, talented vixen? Could this REALLY be….Miley Cyrus?? She is soooooooo grown up!! -an individualistic, determined WOMAN!! who IS Hannah Montana anyway? She is SOOOOOOO uninhibited, edgy and provocative! It’s like she is an entirely different entity!! Hannah WHO??

(How’s that Miley? NOW can you stop assaulting our senses, please!)

  • Liteasy

Not me – I won’t watch somebody that is so hard up for attention. Plus, she’s not attractive in any way.

  • thedeviledadvocate

Did someone spell the title wrong? I thought the title should have been
    Reeking Bawl.

  • Larc

It’s like a very bad car wreck. You can’t not look.

  • HermeticallySealed

“Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Miley Cyrus in an act of desperation.”

  • thirdtime

According to this article, Vogue just canceled her cover for the December issue. These stunts are getting her a lot of publicity, but it may start backfiring on her.

  • R Gray Shaw

Ok. Music video is weird and so wrong… I wish she just stops trying so hard. Having said that, the song is actually pretty good and catchy IMO.

  • EB

Here she goes again, insisting on hypersexual gimmicks. Stupid!! It could be a relatively/mildly powerful video as the song really doesn’t suck at all…. but she ruins it by thinking that nudity and writhing around licking random objects is like, SO edgy and like, original and controversial.

She is going to waste any potentially good material she has this way. Not that I feel too badly about it, however.

  • Sassycatz

    Thank you, Britney! ;-)

  • EB

No one legitimate is going to want anything to do with her. She will just make whoever affiliated with her look like trash.

Only people who are totally desperate for attention will want her, like MTV or SNL. And for magazines, maybe Rolling Stone will feature her soon because they like to gain sales from controversy.

  • chillj

Cute girl. She looks better in this than on the awards.

  • Incipit

Drive by posting – based on the thumbnail and the headline – Gotta say, I agree, and, BTW – I love the salute to “Chicago”, HermeticallySealed.

Maybe Miley could have a word with her costumer, see if they could go to the corner store and buy some spray tan, at least? They got nothin’ else to do. What a boring waste she has become.

  • No Thanks

Bitch needs to put her clothes on. Sad thing is, it’s a good song but the video has ruined it.

  • Anny_nanny

I wonder can she finally stop to save on small things and spend money on a good clipmaker and screenwriter? I have already understood no sense to spend money on a good song.
She does Britney and X-tina look singers of the highest level, not to mention that some of their music videos were masterpieces of pop music.

  • fuzzywuzzy

So predictable and unimaginative. Licking the sledge hammer is gross, not sensual. Riding the wrecking ball nude is boring. Does Miley really expect people to like this crap?

  • DragonFly

Halloween costume shops!!!!—-cheap foam sport hand & large plastic wrecking ball on heavy chain w/ hammer. These are (were) all Dollar Items but now they have a new & classy THEME. Pls don’t let the cleverness stop Girlfriend!!

  • EB

All the hammer scene did was send me into a 45-second long mental monologue about how nasty metal must taste and if one could ever be mildly poisoned or ingest something dangerous by licking it.

  • bestmusic

Are we here target audience??? The teens will love this and she probably care what middle America thinks.

  • usedtobelucy

“I wonder can she finally stop to save on small things and spend money on
a good clipmaker and screenwriter? I have already understood no sense
to spend money on a good song.”

    This. This this this.

Are there no directors, art directors, creative directors, *nothing* around to give her better concepts than this? Or did she just hire really really stupid ones? Or is she just so adamant about her own “ideas” that she refuses to consult anybody who’s, you know, actually any good?

I’m baffled by this, actually. Very few people, especially with the amount of money there has to be to invest in her reinvention, repeatedly do stuff that’s just this plain bad, cheesy and laughable. Don’t get it.

  • Garrett Clayman

i like it too and if P!nk released a video like this everyone would call it art

  • fuzzywuzzy

I wonder if this is true?

Wintour isn’t the only one bothered by Cyrus’ performance, Liam Hemsworth thought it was “mortifying” and has decided to cut things off once and for all.Entertainment Wise reported that Cyrus is due in the UK this week for a a series of appearances and her fiance doesn’t seem interested in joining her there. Instead he headed to Canada over the weekend for an appearance on the “Rush” red carpet to support his brother.

“He is over her and wants to make a clean break,” said a source. “No more back and forth.”

The source also added that apparently Hemsworth is just weeks from permanently calling it off.

  • Jake W.

I like the song, but I hate the video.

  • lkingcorn

    What next Miley? Playboy spread?

  • hayes

Lol that is so true. If this were Pink no one would bat an eye. Unfortunately there’s just an air of trashiness that comes with Miley. I can’t take her seriously.

  • curlyenta

A lot more influential & well respected people than her have done Playboy. It would be a step up for her at this point.

  • fuzzywuzzy

The director for Miley’s video is Terry Richardson, known mainly for his photography:

The sexual nature of Richardson’s photography has always been controversial, as has the sexualized atmosphere and activity at his photoshoots, in particular on the part of Richardson himself.[2][4][12]

Richardson has been accused multiple times of sexual exploitation of young models. In March 2010 Richardson was accused by Danish model and filmmaker Rie Rasmussen, who was upset at Richardson’s use of her picture in his Terryworld book alongside shots of half-naked young girls depicted as performing sex acts. Rasmussen commented, “He takes girls who are young, manipulates them to take their clothes off and takes pictures of them they will be ashamed of. They are too afraid to say no because their agency booked them on the job and are too young to stand up for themselves.”[2][4] Model Jamie Peck related, “Of all the fine folks I’ve frolicked au natural for, he’s the only one who’s left me feeling like I needed to take two showers.”

He’s relatively new to directing music videos:

Richardson has directed music videos, including an alternate music video of the song “Find a New Way” by the band Young Love and Whirlwind Heat’s “Purple” featuring models Susan Eldridge andKemp Muhl.[17] He directed the music video for “Red Lips” by Sky Ferreira.[18] He also makes a cameo appearance in 30 Seconds to Mars’ video for “Hurricane”.[19] On August 29, 2013 he directed Beyoncé in a music video at Coney Island for her upcoming single “XO”.[20]

Richardson has posted the WB video and a series of photos of Miley on his website – sparse clothing, lots of tongue, same old, same old, lol :

ETA: Richardson seems very happy with the video:

    “The teens will love this”

I’m very curious about this. Does any significant number of people from any demographic like these recent performances of hers? Find them actually sexy? Or edgy? Or entertaining in any way at all? Maybe you’re right that it appeals to teens — and if it does, I’d have to guess it’s because, like her, apparently, they don’t really know what sexy and edgy are and think that this is it, just because she’s naked or nearly so and they haven’t seen exactly this before?

Dunno. I’m not particularly middle America. I have nothing at all against sexy, erotic, edgy, avant garde, even pornographic, in many cases. But I don’t see her doing anything that fits any of those labels. This and the tv performance truly just seem very unsexy, stupid, amateur, awkward and laughable to me…. so much so that I’m hard pressed to see anybody thinking it’s actually erotic or cool or whatever.

Is there a demographic that does? Color me confused.

  • Tinawina

I like the song. She looks great. The video is nice minus…

    1. Hammer Frenching. Weird and yucky. But I can see how you would need to throw something unexpected in there to keep it from being boring.

    2. A naked girl literally riding a gigantic ball while supposedly being deep is sssooo freaking funny. It’s like something that would happen in an SNL parody. It didn’t go with the video because it made me laugh so hard. I do love me some big dumb double entendres though.

    That is all. LOL

  • jobeob987

First of all, this isn’t a bad song at all. In fact, it’s quite catchy. Bonus points for Miley adequately conveying the emotion of the song. Unfortunately, it all goes to hell with her nude frolicking and licking the sledge hammer, etc. It’s almost as if Miley doesn’t trust her own talent to carry her and must fall back on these cheap gimmicks.

  • RedMountainRanch

She’s naked on the wrecking ball showing the vulnerability and the softness compared to the destructive wrecking ball
It wasn’t explicit like it could have been, in fact in comparison to the videos by Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke this is mild. guess the difference was they were dudes and the naked chicks added an art element at that point?

The hammer scene was a swipe at Tulisa. But for a family friendly blog, I won’t go any further than that.

Besides the fact that the video had NOTHING to do with the song, besides a wrecking ball, I think I covered everything. Now if only this song can be a hit so the poor girl can buy clothes. (If anyone hasn’t figured it out, I have lots of sarcasm in this post)

  • fuzzywuzzy

Nah, Playboy is too tasteful for Miley now. lol

  • usedtobelucy

Wow! … “takes pictures of them they will be ashamed of.” That about sums it up. “Of all the fine folks I’ve frolicked au natural for, he’s the only one
who’s left me feeling like I needed to take two showers.”

    Well, this totally explains it.

It’s like the kind of cheap porn that gets made in a former auto-body shop out by the interstate exit that has all the big-box stores. …. The kind of stuff that always strikes me as being “enjoyable” only for repressed bitter old unemployed fat men who actually *hate* both sex and women ….

That’s exactly the way these recent MC performances have struck me …. And this is what passes for “edginess” today among some people, I guess. Gross.

  • jobeob987

I considered the possibility that her being nude in the video might represent vulnerability. Then I thought of her lack of attire at the VMAs and was inclined to reject that thought. Thing is, I’ve always felt Miley showed a lot of potential. She has great comedic timing. I’d love to see her succeed long term in music or TV. I just don’t think this is the way to do that.

  • usedtobelucy

“A naked girl literally riding a gigantic ball while supposedly being
deep is sssooo freaking funny. It’s like something that would happen in
    an SNL parody.”

And unwitting self-parody is, I would think, kind of not that good for your career? I guess we’ll see …. (Although I, too, like the song …. Maybe everybody will just ignore the videos…. doesn’t seem that they count for much positive any more, so maybe they don’t count for much negative, either … She probably should stay away from doing this kind of stuff on tv specials, though ….)

  • Guest

Miley is a legend, the Britney for this generation.

  • pj

Dang, that is lame. The close-up bits are trying to mimic the Sinead video “Nothing Compares 2 U” but falls flat. I am not even going to comment on the rest. I think everyone has pretty much summed it up.

  • MichaelG (MikhailXO)

I think even Playboy requires the subject be attractive, somewhat physically appealing, etc. So….

Additionally, you just know Miley would reject the offer, make the rejection public and capitalize off the seemingly negative publicity by spouting off some crap about how she does not want to be objectified in a magazine devoted to “men’s entertainment”, and that what she Chooses to do in her videos is empowering to women and SHE is in control of her own artistic expression!! Blah blah blah… When we all know that ‘tarting it up’ is ‘tarting it up’ no matter how you slice it.

  • Tinawina

I think her target audience will love it. The cinematography is great so it looks good. She emotes, so it will seem deep. It will garner her attention so the YouTube count will be high. 2 controversial vids in a row plus the VMAs makes her an official “provocateur”. I don’t think she actually is employing any real intellegence or forethought behind any of this but it will certainly work In terms of pop culture taking her seriously and giving her attention I think.

  • usedtobelucy

Could well be. It is well shot and the “she emotes, so it will seem deep” is a good point.

  • naturallivng

She is a legend in her own mind… it takes a lot more than some cheap nudity to become a legend LOL

  • fuzzywuzzy

    Selected twitter responses to Miley’s WB video here;

Oops! Miley had a wardrobe malfunction in Paris. lol

  • naturallivng LOL

Miley Cyrus considered a name change to just Miley because she is so famous now…

  • girlygirl

It’s a good song. I don’t need or want to see the video.

  • Ronnie D

I am not usually one to jump on the artist bashing bandwagon, but I can’t help myself here lol. First, the close up of Miley crying and singing these “intensely emotional” lyrics….umm…Sinead O’conner did that already darling. Oh, and she didn’t have to use fake tears, she FELT those words. Licking the sledgehammer I sort of understand, because that’s probably how she get her record deals…hehe

    I need a palate cleanser…

  • Ronnie D

Hell no. Back in the day Britney was at least an incredible dancer. Miley cant sing or dance.

  • dreamr23

Well, I liked the song more than I was expecting to… but yeah, the video…*sigh*…

  • CanadianLady

Not watching – picture is way more than I wanted to see. But I do feel very sorry for her and her family and friends. She is in serious trouble. Nothing funny about that.

  • Anny_nanny

Yes! She already shaved her head and we saw her naked! Can we escape the marriage at all surrounding idiots and immediately move to rehab?

  • HKfan

Not too sure about that…I was in the car coming back from a party the other day with 4 18 and 19yo’s. (2 girls and 2 boys)….we were talking about the VMA’s, and they all brought up Miley saying how bad it was, and they were all laughing about her.

  • halo9125

Gouging out my mind’s eye now….

  • Miss Blue

Has the fiancee run screaming from the continent yet?

  • HKfan

well first, I really like this song…..
and second, I didn’t think the video was that bad, she looks far more attractive in it than she did at the VMA’s, there’s hardly any tongue which is a plus….
Its not the most imaginative video, and I don’t get why she feels she needs to be naked, but the only part I didn’t like was the licking of the hammer, that was just pointless, the rest of it was OK..

  • Miss Blue

But Pink hasn’t released a video like this, has she? She has certainly had years of opportunity. Maybe it’s because Pink has class?

  • lkingcorn

Truly don’t think Miley in a melt down. I believe this is a very calculated thought out move on her part. It’s just totally unexpected from a twenty year old. Will it make or break her? She being dropped bynVogue cover but doing SNL, so only time will tell. The public is immune to nudity as its been done to death.

  • Bugme Nomor

Are we supposed to care who Terry Richardson is? Or did he direct the spot for free in return for the credit at the end?

  • usedtobelucy

“I believe this is a very calculated thought out move on her part. …The public is immune to nudity as its been done to death.”

I’m confused by the first statement of yours that I’ve quoted here, largely because I think the second one I quoted is a key point!

Nudity generally *does* bore everybody now. And what she’s done here — to me, anyway — doesn’t add anything interesting enough to provide much of either a positive or negative thrill for most people. That being the case, I don’t see how it would really help her (or particularly hurt her either, of course….)

So what are you thinking she’s calculated she can achieve by this, given that you yourself say that nudity’s been done to death?

I guess I also don’t get it being “totally unexpected from a twenty-year old,” since 20-year-olds are pretty much exactly who I expect the most nudity from — they’re old enough to do it and not too old to have anything physical to hide!

  • Bugme Nomor

Miley is set to host SNL on October 5.

  • fuzzywuzzy
  • Garrett Clayman

her glitter in the air grammy costume was pretty similar

  • Bugme Nomor

    Many people like the song.

Co-writer on it was MoZella (born Maureen Anne McDonald). She was also a co-writer on a popular song (“Undone”) found on Haley Reinhart’s album.

MoZella has real talent and I’m glad she stands to benefit financially from Miley’s notoriety.

  • Bugme Nomor

    Miley performing live. With dwarves:

  • milwlovesadam

I realllly mean dammit. I actually like this song. And the vocal.

And, to me, you can start throwing tomatoes my way, she’s no more naked than Gaga was in Bad Romance. Which was another emotional and stark video. Not in any way comparing Miley to Gaga’s talent. Just the visual.

Although, hahaha, I do get the Sinead O’Connor reference.

  • breakdown

She still seems like a little girl trying to act like an adult porno star. It just doesn’t work on any level.

  • EB

That really figures. Mozella is a very good songwriter and artist herself.. I wish she was more popular. But well done to her, it’s the best “Miley song” I’ve ever heard.. and probably the last good one.

  • EB

She has calculated correctly that the nudity, no matter how boring, will make for a zillion news headlines, YouTube views, trending topics, etc.

So in her eyes, it will be a great success for those reasons… that it is being talked about. Still lame, from my perspective and a good way to distract from a very decent track.

  • EB

If the VMA performance didn’t put the final nail in that coffin, I don’t know what ever could.

  • usedtobelucy

“She has calculated correctly that the nudity, no matter how boring, will
make for a zillion news headlines, YouTube views, trending topics, etc.”

Oh, okay I get it — a pure media-attention calculation. I was thinking about a calculation that it would do something for her career. But it does make sense that she would think about the noise she’d make by doing this stuff, and probably imagining that the noise alone *would* prove something and help her career.

  • EB

It just gets worse and worse.

  • EB

She was also really pretty and had some great songs. Her worst track is probably better than ‘We Can’t Stop’. More of a natural star than trying-too-hard Miley, even if it drove the poor lady bonkers.

  • EB

Be that the case, how sad for this generation.

  • No Thanks

Apparently it did. Gossip abounds that he’s dumping her.

  • usedtobelucy

“I realllly mean dammit. I actually like this song. And the vocal.”

Aaaaa….Videos don’t have much to do with sales or airplay, do they? Won’t the song just go on its own merit, and the video be largely ignored after the initial press noise? I don’t know whether videos ever actually affected songs’ success or lack of it much, but seems to me they really are pretty irrelevant today, at least, aren’t they?

  • roaringpen

The vocals sound pretty good. But it’s Miley trying too hard Cyrus. *facepalm

  • lkingcorn

My statement was taken out of context to posts I’ve read that she is at the very least out of control, which I don’t believe she is. I think she is taking a “Calculated” risk that what she is doing will pay off. I applaud your defense of 20 year old nudity, which I am also not adverse to…when it speaks to me. Are you also in favor of 20 year old male nudity that is certainly the age for it. But I thank you for upbraiding me. Guess you told me.

  • milwlovesadam

Yea, not really talking about radio or sales in my post. Just commenting that I was kind of surprised that I actually liked the song.

  • EB

Been a long time coming! Although, what’s with that rumor.. she has yet to be dumped? What is the silly guy waiting for?

The slowest but most inevitable breakup continues to be slow but inevitable.

  • bearcatnat

So the wall is her relationship with Liam, right? You did a good job with that wrecking ball, Miley.

  • EB

Oh, the wall isn’t her career? Maybe there’s a double-meaning.

  • EB

Apparently a rather sordid character! :/

Director of Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’ video accused of lurid past:,0,166600.story

  • l8er

Liam seems relatively stable with some decent acting roles. AND he’s the more attractive one in that coupling. He could do so much better. I do not get that relationship.

  • Lielle Hart

    Of course publicity affects sales.

Video views are even used in Billboard’s chart placing,

They wouldn’t be if they were irrelevant.

  • Lielle Hart

Why are people saying things like “her career is over”?

I mean, look at the monstrous sales of her two singles. The first one, with the “gross music video” even sold 2.2 million in the US alone.

I wouldn’t be surprised if her album was one of the top sellers of the year.

  • usedtobelucy

Wasn’t upbraiding you in the least — was just asking what you meant because I wasn’t sure what you were driving at and found some of it intriguing!
Sorry that you took offense at this. No offense of any kind intended. I was just attempting to engage in conversation.

I get what you’re saying now about the calculation versus out-of-control, though. I hadn’t been one of those who thought she was out of control, so this didn’t occur to me.

  • No Thanks

I’m sure their publicists are coordinating. :op

  • Niall

I think this is working and will continue
to work temporarily. But she won’t have the skill of, say Madonna, to
reinvent herself again in a way that brings back segments of her
audience or people in the general public who are alienated right now.

  • overthetop1

I think she’s kind of disgusting, licking a sledgehammer and all, but I thought Madonna was kind if disgusting back in the day. People can’t get enough of her. She’ll be selling out stadiums in her rubber underwear to support that album.

  • lkingcorn

Sorry for the snark..been w/out wifi all day and hotter than Hades today spent afternoon in hot car looking for guitar for 17 yr old nephew. I have no real, issue with Miley being herself, I have no moral issues with today’s pop scene, nor nudity. I admit to not quite getting the naked scene in the name of art. Personally, I think controversery sells, which is a problem as I think a lot of what is considered art today is total crap. Hope I haven’t offended you. I also like a good conversation. Btw I think some spray tan would have given more authencity, but then I guess it would have been less in the moment.

  • EB

I don’t doubt that the songs and album will sell but if her dignity has to die a very excruciating public death to attain it (and it has), her success seems a bit lesser to me.

  • iluvai

I like the song, but I don’t get why the music video has to be so raunchy. They (whoever they are) should have been able to come up with another concept. Miley is so pretty, but she is making herself look so ugly, jmo.

  • iluvai

lol MJ. It’s not a parody, but I can’t wait to see the inevitable ones. :)

  • CollegeLifeUSA

Earth to Miley – You’re trying too hard.

  • Bugme Nomor

Bieber sells a lot too. When he was booed at an awards shows recently, he said he was working hard and wanted to be taken seriously as an (adult) artist.

That desire is more deserving of respect than an ambition to go down in “history” for twerking at a televised awards show.

So, for many people who once followed Miley, her career is as good as over because this is the end of the line for them.

Many more who have never followed her — like myself — have no intention of starting now.

Because, as someone noted, it’s one thing to use shock value to call attention to your talent and another to use it to cover up your lack of talent.

Nothing kills a bad product faster than good advertising.

  • springboard2

All media outlets seem to be milking her ‘outrageaous’ behavior since it equals hits.
She is just playing the game.

  • usedtobelucy

Yeah, I like the song, too — and I’m also kind of surprised by that.

  • g122y

the song is so good, but the music video is so overdone. THIS IS WHAT THEY CALLED “ART” IN POP MUSIC..SHE’S BACK WITH A BANG! EHEHE

  • usedtobelucy

Good point about videos as publicity. I was just kind of thinking about them dying out as an art form and the apparent dying out of media that was actually devoted to showing them in that light. But I guess now they function instead as ads that you throw out there in hopes that the media and the public will be intrigued by them and spread them to give you free advertising. ….

(I was also kind of talking about the possibility that a dumb video could actually hurt a good song’s chances — that’s what I really doubt would happen at all today. If the video’s widely perceived as not good, it’s either just going to drop off the radar and have no negative effect or be widely viewed for ridicule purposes. But those viewings will actually constitute advertising for the song, so I’d expect them to have a small positive effect on sales ….)

  • usedtobelucy

No problem! And sorry about the missing wifi and the overheated guitar search!

On spray tan — Well, nothing like the lack of it to give your video that highly desirable low-budget we-cranked-this-out-in-15-minutes look, I always say!

  • stargazed

Oh, my dear God! This is comedy gold.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Or, is the game playing Miley? ;)

  • fuzzywuzzy

Miley mistakenly believes that she needs to be this outrageous in order to divorce herself completely from her “Hannah Montana” persona.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Is it even possible to parody Miley more than she’s done herself?

  • fuzzywuzzy

I think that Miley’s goal is to alienate all of her fans who have any fondness and attachment for her as “Hannah Montana” persona, and attract a different demo of fans.

I don’t think that Miley has a sense of what dignity really is, and is willing to do almost anything for attention and commercial success. She is reshaping her fan base, discarding anyone who can’t accept her new persona. It remains to be seen as to how successful she will be in the long run.

  • Annatree

I actually like her vocal on this song. The video is just ok. And I think people are making to much of it. So she is basically naked for most of the video, so what. I have seen Gaga, pink, Madonna basically naked a lot more times.

  • Incipit

Geeze, that child is boringly self-involved – - I didn’t like her in either of her personas – no loss to me…but that deliberate faux controversy sounds kinda like Idol’sFOX’s strategy with the judges panel last year – only half of it worked.

  • HermeticallySealed

Because if there is anything true in the world, it’s that going to church automatically makes someone stop outrageous behavior. . .

  • geekygirl

This made me literally lol MJ, don’t need to watch the video, your comments are entertainment enough! :D

  • No Thanks

THIS. It’s like her plan is to shove a stick of dynamite up Hannah Montana’s ass and blow her up. I’m not against an artist reinventing themselves, but she seems so angry and resentful of Hannah Montana (and by extension her father for dragging her into it for years). It’s like she screaming “Fu@& you Hannah Montana and FU@& you Daddy!!! Die! DIE! DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!”

  • Montavilla

What a funny way of putting it. “Just weeks from permanently calling it off.”

Do they have a contract or something? He can’t actually break up with her until October?

  • DragonFly

Overcoming being the butt of jokes obviously paying off– the moral of both her “shows”.
We’ve come to know people these days with extreme dieting/workouts who scream for people to NOTICE!!! To me this also pours into that mold of “what’s the use of such a fine body w/o sharing the image w/a deservingly, anxious public”. They don’t want to be alone in front of that mirror doing the only admiring.

Justin T another recent ex. that needed extra stuff to bring viewers in. Some just can’t get enough publicity. IMO

  • Montavilla

I don’t think the naked women in those videos were considered artistic. It message was the plain old “let’s put naked women in the videos to get hits (and let everyone know that I’m straight).”

Now, had it been fully clothed women and a naked Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke, then maybe the nakedness would have conveyed vulnerability and been artistic.

  • Happyhexer

No she didn’t. I haven’t watched and have no intention of doing so. The descriptions are bad enough.

  • Happyhexer

Ughh. That is seriously disturbing, fuzzywuzzy.

  • taylor

Personally, I could have done without the sledgehammer love, but all of it is typical pop star behavior. I’ve seen it all before, from Madonna to Pink to Gaga to Rihanna…

Obviously there is an audience for Miley and for her videos and music. Wrecking Ball is now #1 on iTunes, knocking off Roar.
The video will easily smash One Direction’s 24 hour viewing record to pieces, to get the #1 spot back. Miley now has three songs in the top 20 on iTunes.

  • waitingforthe1

the reactions to this video are so OTT as to be more laughable than the actual video itself IMO.

Miley is no more desparate than Rhianna, Gaga, Pink, Britney and Katy or Madonna before her. She’s doing exactly the same things they do (or did)the only difference I see is that Miley began her career with an apple pie image on the Disney channel.

I love this song and I think Miley is trying to grow as a young woman and an artist. All this slut shamming going on really is sad.

Miley has had only two boyfriends to my knowledge, Nick Jonas and Liam. She’s hardly this out of control girl out screwing every guy in her path. These are performances, as an artist not a statement on what kind of human being/person she is.

She has shown no sign that she’s out of control in her off stage behavior. No arrests, no bar fights, no rehab, no stealing, etc.

People need to learn how to separate the onstage persona with the person IMO.

  • waitingforthe1

she looks beautiful. She’s young and hot. Why not swing on a wrecking ball….I watched it three times.

  • waitingforthe1

pubescent body? you realize she’s a 20 (almost 21) year old grown woman, right?

  • fuzzywuzzy

I know, that struck me as weird too. If he’s done, why wait “weeks”?

  • waitingforthe1

you’re judging based on public perception and not real facts from within that relationship.

People like to pretend that they know these celebrities and what they are like in their off camera lives, it’s one of the reasons why 24 hr news is so dangerous.

No one knows the inner workings of anyone’s life except their own and I highly doubt any one of us would want to open up ourselves to the scrutiny that is placed on celebrities so that our choices/lives could be questioned, second guessed and berated.

    VEVO ?@VEVO 2h

The OFFICIAL count is in! @MileyCyrus #WreckingBall wrecks the #VEVO24HourRecord w/ 19.3 MILLION VIEWS!!!

  • fuzzywuzzy

    What was the previous record?

  • taylor

10.7 million for Best Song Ever by One Direction.

  • fuzzywuzzy

Thanks. Thing is, this kind of record just means that you have rabid fans who are playing this video on repeat (often assisted with computer software) 24/7, so I’m not sure how meaningful this kind of record is.

  • taylor

Eh, the same holds true for all the artists with big fanbases. They all watch the video multiple times to try and run up the video count.
The difference here is that her videos are causing her songs to shoot to the top of the iTunes chart. It happened with WCS and the same is happening with WB. The record, in and of itself, isn’t really ~meaningful, but what it is doing is getting publicity and bringing attention to the song, so that people are then going to iTunes to purchase it.

  • lollypop12

Yea, but she trained her body too look like a girl who hasn’t gone through puberty. She looked much better with curves 2 years ago.

  • Don’t lie

My God. I cannot stand her voice whether speaking or singing. Ugh. What a mess.

  • cynthia

Nice song..but Miley i have lost all respect dear , you have to many young ladies who look up to you, they count on you as a successor to pave the way of wholesomeness .. you have totally sold out to the DEVIL. No more moral values! Put some clothes on seriously
