Wow. Sounds like a great organization.

Well, good for Michael. I hope this gives him the opportunity to support his family and have a little fun making some music.

Something tells me that they may just call the 2010 season “Country Idol.”

I didn’t particularly like Sarver while he was on AI. I didn’t think he was as talented as some who didn’t make it to the top 10. Simon knew what he was saying that he is a nice guy, and people should vote for him.

During the summer, I saw many videos and reports, how he really made an effort to talk to the fans, give them autographs and hugs. He was particularly a good sport when they asked him to sign Adam’s RS cover. When I went to the barricades and Sarver was out signing autographs, Adam came out. Many young girls started screaming, crying and yelling out his name. Instead of being annoyed, Sarver turned towards Adam and, gestured to Adam and said, “There’s Adam.” I didn’t see any malice whatsover. I read into it, “there is my friend Adam”.

I’ve heard at least a couple of interviews where Sarver could have been talking about himself, but uinstead he spent his time to speak highly of Adam, and saying he has learned a lot from him. I know many Adam fans suspected Sarver may have been homophobic in the beginning, but after the tour, and even most recently, we have discovered what a sincere, “papa bear” Sarver is.

His album may sound like crap (I don’t think it will), but as soon as it comes out, I’m going to be one of the first to get it. I will support him as he has supported Adam.

I wanted to edit my post, but couldn’t. I wanted to add that I don’t even like country music. I may even buy Danny’s music.

  • Reflections On Life

@BestAI – I found your post very moving & heartfelt. It shows that this is not just about music for you. I hope Sarver gets to read your post sometime soon. Maybe you should tweet him with it!

I am so happy for him , because he amazed me with his growth as a person and an performer while on tour.

Okay, think this means the only top 10ers without a record contract are Megan, Anoop and Matt (Lil’s post this week said she would have something out soon).

Season 7 has both Davids, Michael, Brooke, Jason, Kristy and soon Carly so looks like a tie.

    Any bets on who’s next?

    flyaway, what about Scott?

I keep seeing Dream Records listed as with “Universal Music Group” which makes it sound as if it is with the major music company by that name. From anything I’ve seen, that really doesn’t seem to be the case. Unless the websites for three different organizations are wrong, Dream Records is partnered with Universal Christian Music Group, not Universal Music Group.
When I looked it up last month out of curiosity, Dream Records’ information page states that it is partnered with Universal Christian Music Group. Neither Dream Records nor Universal Christian Music Group were listed under Universal Music Group’s website. Universal Christian Music Group’s website did list Dream Records but said nothing I could find about any relationship with Universal Music Group.
Maybe it’s a minor point, but it bugs me a little that they keep presenting it like that. Unless there is some unpublished connection between UCMG and UMG, it seems a little misleading to refer to Dream Records/Universal or Dream Records/Universal Music Group. Not sure whether this may be out of carelessness, to make Dream Records seem to have a more high-profile standing than it does, or to deemphasize the Christian music industry connection when Michael is aiming toward a country market more than CCM.

It’s really great news to see some outside of the top 4 getting signed. Michael seems like a nice genuine guy. I wish only the best for him and his family.

  • druzilla

    Good luck to Michael.

I really thought Matt would get signed before many of those further back.

  • iluvai

This is great news. Michael Sarver was really good on tour and seems like a very nice person.

  • lucy

I really thought Matt would get signed before many of those further back.

I think that the genres Matt’s best at aren’t high-selling enough for people to snatch him up, mega-talented as I think he is. … To me, his strength seems to lie in kind of jazzy, bluesy, sort-of-blue-eyed soul stuff, and that doesn’t sell very well just now.

And, honestly, talented as he is, I haven’t seen him do a very good job with the sort of soft, alt-ish rock that he kept saying he *wanted* to do.

Matt was in my top tier of favorites last season, and I hope he gets something going one of these days. … .He probably won’t be going country, though, which seems to be the one genre that they — correctly, I guess — *really* believe that they can sell …. That said, I can see Michael doing really well at country. Hope it works out for him.

Lil is already signed, but there hasn’t been an official press release yet..if i am not mistaken

Hope Matt or Anoop is next…but I think Megan will be next, i think she said she had some exciting news on twitter not too long ago..

What’s the scoop with this label? country? christian?

  • maracaibo

Congrats to Michael. Wish him the best.

I am still sad though there’s no news about Matty G. His originals were pretty great the other day during his mini concert.

I just think Matt is so talented that he truly deserves a shot to record..

Maybe the problem right now is the genre he wants to go into, labels must be undecided on how to market him. I think he can do so many styles though. THat could also be the problem.

If Matt decided to go country he would be super successful IMO. I remember Top 11 night when Matt performed”So Small” how impressed Randy Travis was with him. I loved that performance it was magical.

Let’s hope Matty G doesn’t fade away in the future. It would break my heart. I always though the was going to be the next one sign after the Top 4 but I guess not. Sigh..

So glad for Michael such a nice and loving person..wtg Michael!

What’s the scoop with this label? country? christian?

They are very new, most or all of their artists so far are doing Christian music I think. The most well-known is Press Play. Dream Records may not necessarily see themselves as limited to Christian music, however.

Michael is describing his music as country? From the one song I heard, it did have a Christian element in it, so maybe there is a crossover range he’s looking at that could leverage the abilities/experience of Dream Records and their partnership network.

Sorry Michael’s thread, but now that the discussion has turned to Matt, I have to add a few things.

I know we are all anxious to find out what Matt is going to do, but he is writing some amazing new music (particularly #Imissyoutonight !!!) and I’m sure he’ll get it out there soon. By taking his time he has been able to make some connections with A-list country writers and producers, even though the music he is writing is definitely not country. I doubt this ever would have happened if he had been tied to a recording contract.

It may be true that Matt doesn’t fit nicely into a specific radio-friendly genre because his sound is truly unique. But I know he’ll have a long and successful career performing and writing music, even if he never becomes a major radio star.

Well, he’s extremely talented, in multiple ways.

So somebody in the music industry is surely going to want to hire him for *something*, seems to me. They recognize talent.

And then once he starts getting jobs in the big-time part of the industry, he can build connections and possibly get something bigger down the line or at least a good contract with a solid indie label and a touring gig. He’s at least on the radar screen now, and I can’t imagine that his talent will be allowed to go completely to waste.
