American Idol Season 7′s Michael Johns and Season 6′s Melinda Doolittle just shoot for the stars if it feels right as they did their best Levine and Aguilera at the Barefoot Formal on New Year’s Eve at the Casa Dorado in Cabo Mexico.

Dmitry Chaplin (DWTS), Chelsie Hightower (SYTYCD & DWTS) and Stephen “tWitch” Boss (SYTYCD) perform a dance routine while the duo sang Maroon 5′s “Moves Like Jagger.”

The show, featuring a slew of stars from American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars was directed and choreographed by Idol music director, Michael Orland and DWTS pro, Louis Amstel.

    Melinda and Michael always sound good, but I wish they sang a different duet. Is this the only one?

    Oh and btw, Dmitry’s also a product of SYTYCD.

    new years eve? there were like, what, 5 people there? i feel bad for the performers. last time they’ll be doing that gig.

    I agree, I keep waiting for someone to actually move like Jagger when they do this song.  Even Adam Levine doesn’t move like Jagger (at all).

    I usually like both Michael and Mindy Doo but not feeling this duet or the dancing. Adam Levine & Christina A have nothing to worry about.

    Holy Dmitry ! I did not even notice any singing while Dmitry was dancing on stage.

    That was kind of…uncomfortable.  Everyone seemed to not exactly know where the blocking was – not enough rehearsal maybe.  And Dear God, you’re just adorable Michael Johns but do NOT sing that song again.  Not good, babe. Not good. 

    How could you tell how many people were there?  I couldn’t.

    MLJ is like my fave song of the past year and uh, well that made me cringe. I HATE when a song becomes such a huge smash and everyone starts covering said song, even people who are a horrible fit for the song. 

    On a different note anything with Dmitry in it is always a good thing.

    The song just really didn’t suit them. So just bad song choice! Still love them both!

    Well, I love Mindy Doo and she did a credible job.  I have always found Johns to be very, very cute but lacking charisma.  I actually liked it better when he moved to the back and the dancers took over. Not terrible, but it did seem a bit unorganized.

    also it annoyed me that michael kept saying “those moves” instead of the “the moves”

    Michael did this event last New Years as well -he obviously enjoyed it last time & seemed like he enjoyed it this year .He takes his wife Stacey-so its part holiday part work. Ha PJ -I’m totally the opposite -I’ve met Michael & he just oozes charisma to me.
