Micheal Jackson will be buried tonight at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA.

via LA Times:

Friends and family will converge on Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in Glendale this evening for the burial of Michael Jackson.

Authorities will be out in force for the funeral, though they don’t expect huge crowds of spectators. The funeral begins at 7 p.m.

Jackson will be interred in the expansive cemetery’s Great Mausoleum. The pop singer’s remains will be placed in a crypt in the Holly Terrace section of the mausoleum, a massive building that is the final resting place for stars from film’s golden age, such as Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard and Clark Gable.

The burial caps months of rumors about where he would be laid to rest. One report had his body stored in a crypt owned by Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr., and there was widespread speculation that an elaborate grave — and ultimately, a Graceland-style museum — would be constructed at the entertainer’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County.

But Jackson’s family, led by his 79-year-old mother, Katherine, selected Forest Lawn, a 20-minute trip across the San Fernando Valley from their Encino home.

On Wednesday, it was decided that Jackson’s estate will pay the undisclosed expenses for the singer’s funeral today — a sum one attorney called “extraordinary.”

RIP, finally, Michael.

I agree MJ, it’s about time. Finally maybe Michael can RIP.

He will only be where they are putting him now, for about a year. Then they will move him to his final resting place.

RIP Michael, the pain is over.

ETA…I can’t figure out how to display a avatar. Help anyone? Puhlease?

    RIP Michael

I am a MJ fan. He came to Brazil in 1996 (not only Brazil, but to my hometown, Salvador, where he filmed part of the videoclip “They don’t really care about us” – I actually saw him from upclose, as he left the hotel), and everbody that met him said he was the greatest guy, really sweet. I think is a shame that he thought that he had to change his face (he was a handsome man – remember the don’t stop til you get enough video?), and that he was such a lonely person. He will live forever in his music (some of the best songs of Pop history) and in his amazing performances, that will be admired forever.

Lisa, go to gravatar.com. Also, where did you read about this not being his final resting place? Frankly I hope it is. Of course there should be some public memorial like Graceland I guess, but it’s not necessary that he be interred there. Oh well, it’s in his families hands not mine.

Soberba, what a nice memory. He was a handsome man, I just don’t think he thought so.

Abbysee, I went to gravatar but it had me change my password. I wonder if I need to do that here too?

It was on the news. The Jackson family bought 12 plots and that is eventually where Michael will be. They said in about a year. The interment under the glass painting is only temp.

I can’t edit, but apparently my avie works now. Woot

Abby found something that might help ya!

Scroll down on this site and see an old map of the cemetary. Where Michael will be “for now” is under the “Last Supper”. That building is on the right side middle.

Where he will finally be laid to rest (with 11 other of the Jackson family) is way to the left in the “Holly Terrace” building.

Thanks Lisa. I thought they were going to move him to another place entirely. I think this place is ideal. Also that all of his family will eventually be there is appropriate as well.

Okay about gravatar….you have to register. Once you register and download a picture, your avatar will be linked to the email address you used to register @ mj’s. It won’t work otherwise. It’s usually pretty simple. Well it took me about a week to work it out the first time I tried it, but now, it’s easy.

I have to say this is the first time I have ever heard of evening burial. Full moon and all.

  • Lisa

lavender, Twilight/gloaming/evening was Michaels favorite time of day. It was when he was inspired. It was a magical time of day for him.

May you now find the peace you sought in life Michael.

Saw the burn victim now known as Dave Dave (not a typo, he doesn’t want to use his original surname because his father is the one who maimed him) give tribute to MJ on television today. MJ helped him a lot and even if you don’t know the story you can imagine that he really needed the help. Moonwalk on your grave if you want MJ, as long as you are happy now and at peace that’s all that matters.

I still wont accept this I saw the casket and i just refuse um sorry I just cant its too painful he was a wonderful sweet gentle man so who was outright done wrong by everyone;which caused him to do the strange things he did. I feel bad that his family is still milking him even in death.I will not watch the show because I know MJ was totally against it. Shame he ruined his beautiful face and oh my gosh I think he was da sexiest in 87′ wooo. I hate plastic surgines You can say he was a greedy pedo all you want but the downright truth is he was simply magical he had some strange ways had a habit of not paying peoople but would you? But we all do strange shyt and he was 2 good for this shyt of a planet and may da KOP RIP 1958-FOREVER! ;-)
