X Factor winner, Melanie Amaro, has been keeping a low profile since she won the competition last spring. She’s got a new single out, “Don’t Fail Me Now,” and at last we see the singer in action as she performs the tune in her brand new music video.

She looks very glam! Check it out below

    Ugh…
i don’t like it much. Anyone could sing this…and whilst Melanie has lovely natural vocals, one certainly can’t appreciate them with this crap. She looks like she has sampled the entire assortment of the Lancome’ counter here, and I do wonder if her ‘time off’ was spent recovering from a rhinoplasty. Hmmmmmm…

The reason why Idol can do the so-called “journey” thing is the time factor. AI starts in January and ends in mid-May. It gives them five months to show all kinds of BS. XF has only four months (September through December), plus they have the National League Championship Series and World Series to deal with. Not enough time. Perhaps another network (ABC?) could do the journey thing with more time.

Why are they giving her this generic, chick-flick soundtrack fodder? I have to believe she can do better and that her potential is just being buried by the label, but then again I don’t know. The song isn’t really that bad, a little lame in parts and the video is cheesy but it doesn’t sound terrible. Only so many singles and chances that she will get to make an impression.. maybe time is already up for her career.

Nedsdag, I am sitting here counting on my fingers.  I think the Idol journey is 4 months.  Either way, we do seem to know the contestants better through the process.

I feel sorry for Melanie as I think she could have done better with more help from LA Reid.

It might be because the competition of AI focuses on individuals and not teams.  So we get to learn them more individually.
