Megan Hilty Cast in New Sean Hays Comedy

All of you Megan Hilty fans can rejoice! The ex-Smash star has been cast as a series regular opposite her former Smash co-star, Sean Hayes, in his new NBC comedy, Sean Saves The World, according to TV Line.

Megan will play Liz, the best friend and co-worker of Sean’s character — a role originally portrayed by Lindsay Sloane, who left the project shortly after it was picked up by the network.

The sitcom, set to air on  Thursdays at 9/8c,  stars Sean as a gay single dad to a teenage daughter who has just moved in with him, there’s also some workplace stuff involving a temperamental new boss.

Watch the trailer below. The cast also includes Linda Lavin (Alice) as Sean’s mom, Echo Kellum (Ben and Kate), Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Samantha Isler and Vik Sahay (Chuck).

YAAAAY! So happy that Megan has been cast in a television series. She is amazing!

Great that Megan will be back on TV. But I hope Sean isn’t as boring on his own show as he was on Smash. If he is, there may not be much future for it.

If it doesn’t work out, Megan can always sing about her cancelled shows with NPH on the Tonys again. It was AWESOME!

Megan is so super talented, I just hope that the show is well-written, so we can see both her and Sean for a long time. I agree that he wasn’t very funny on Smash, but that is how it was written. He was positively hilarious on Will and Grace, but he was written as a stereotypically flamboyant nightclub performer. This time he seems to be going for a more “real” guy. More of a “see? Gay dads are good dads”.

I just hope hope that by being less flamboyant he is still funny. Both he and Megan deserve a funny show. She was outstanding on the Tony’s, and on the Marvin Hamlisch special for New Year’s Eve too.

If nothing else, he is still the producer of Grimm. Which kinda amazes me.

Well, the Megan Hilty fans better enjoy her while they can because I don’t see this show lasting.

Good for meghan, she was the breakout star in Smash.

Will and Grace’s old time slot

Wishing Meghan the very best with this new show. Sad part…we won’t be hearing her lovely voice.

I love the uber talented Megan Hilty! She deserves to showcase her goods in another venue….but, if this promo trailer is any indication (and one would assume the best jokes to be included in the trailer…), then this show won’t be a hit. #hellocancellationbear

I agree. Would love her to do another Tony’s stint with NPH. She is just so awesome…

I’m willing to give this show a chance. If it’s less than stellar, then Megan will be the bright spot, just like she was on Smash.

  • emme1000

So excited for Megan….can’t wait to watch.

  • curly_yenta

Glad to see the REAL talent of Smash get the opportunities she deserves. Go Megan!

For those Megan fan’s in Austin, she will be performing live at the
Zachary Scott Theater on Tuesday, June 18. Just her and a microphone
for 90 minutes. It should be great.

And she will be great in
this comedy with Sean. They will come through. Don’t forget about the
great Linda Lavin. She will make it even better.
