Matt Giraud debuts a very pretty ballad, written with JT Harding, at the The Listening Room Cafe Tuesday night in Nashville TN.

Matt has been in Nashville co-writing and recording with Marcus Hummon (“God Bless the Broken Road”) and others.

Gorgeous vocal! What do you think?

2nd Update: USA Today’s Brian Mansfield reports how two fans got their own private concert last night!   The set list was different too.   Check it out HERE.

UPDATE: More songs: “Miss You Tonight”,   “Go On and Sing Boy”, “Georgia”

    Music good.
    Singing good.
    Lyrics suck.

Ooh, I like – bluesy sort of vibe, very chill. He makes me ashamed of my piano playing non-skills, lol.

  • J9BT

I love Matt, but this song sounds kind of repetitive to me. Same notes, same words, over and over again. The piano sounds great, as does his voice, but I’m not sure I’m a fan of this song.

  • csprof

    Very nice!

The following Youtube channel has Matt’s six performances from last night. I’m pretty impressed with “Bless the Broken Road”.

    It didn’t grab me.

  • Kaykohl

    I liked 4am.

Didn’t like Bless the Broken Road.

  • flicker

I love Matt. His voice sounds really good, and his piano skills – incredible!

  • idolbeat

I really like them both! 4 AM, on first listen I thought was okay after listening the second time, I thought it grabbed me, and the third time, I am hooked. Feel like it is John Mayerish and could see it as a hit!

Boring. Boring. Boring. :( Sorry Matt! I like him & he’s got a great voice but I couldn’t sit through that, I cut most of them off halfway through.

  • Diane2

Piano skills….amazing! Voice…good. I just think the songs sound too much like John Legend. Not original.

  • windmills

I’d have to listen more to hear more of the lyrics. I like the vibe of the songs, especially Go On And Sing Boy. 4 AM doesn’t sound too bad but I actually thought Matt could’ve sounded better on it.

I really think Matt will have a nice career for himself as a songwriter if nothing else but it’d be nice to hear a full album from him.

I don’t know if this was already posted, but Brian Mansfield of Idol Chatter reports here that Matt gave a private concert to 2 fans who were late to this appearance at the Listening Room Cafe. What a guy.:-).

That boy smashes it on the piano. Kills it! I’m actually a big fan of this song, 4am. Awesome Job Matt!

  • hazuki

Love this song! I need studio versions now.

Oh and MJ, you typod his last name wrong just to let you know ^_^.

  • crys

What a sweetheart that guy is! That was very nice of him. I wish there was a vid of “Breaking in a Broken Heart. I LOVE that song!

  • csprof

I think he sounds great. I enjoyed 4AM and liked it better in the second listen, but agree with crys on “Breaking in a Broken Heart” and also “I Miss You Tonight”, which are tied for my favorite. I also really like “Gimme a Break”.

I am amazed that Matt went straight into this performance from two days of writing and recording, and he sounds energetic and strong.

  • Kanadie Bonttell

When I saw the title 4am, I thought I was going to hear a cover of Matchbox 20′s song 3am. At least he made it 1hr later!

  • aries13

I love Go On and Sing Boy!! It’s my favorite of his originals!!!

  • Suzanne

I love Matt, but . . . snooze. Maybe more accompaniment and harmony background singers would make it interesting for me. It is repetitive.

I loved it the first time I heard it and am still loving it. It has such a cool jazzy vibe to it. Man I can’t wait for his CD to come out!

Oh we will be having a cellcert for Matt’s performance on New Years Eve thanks to Kelley! Not sure what time he will be singing the National Anthem but the game starts at 6PM EST/7PM Central. Come here if you want to listen. We will also be cellcerting the half time performance.

He’s a good singer and obviously a nice guy for doing a second show for two fans, but he needs to stop writing songs. Some people just aren’t gifted in that area and he’s not. Matt should find some good people to do all the writing for him and he can sing and play piano. I’m stunned at how bad some of the lyrics are.

  • crys

I don’t see what the fuss is over the lyrics. I actually like them. It’s a very cute song & tells a sweet story.

BTW, Matt’s been co-writing some very nice songs, w/ very good lyrics. Check out “I Miss You Tonight,” for example. I don’t think he needs to stop. He’s doing just fine.
