Matt is amazing!! I am so glad he was discovered on this show – this is only the beginning of great things for him. Matt Giraud is one of those contestants that we will remember in a few years and (if Idol is still airing) refer to as an example of how winning isn’t everything.

Ok, so I commented before actually watching them – haha.

What is with the HAT comments? I mean, come on! But good answer Matt, “JT wasn’t the first guy to wear a hat!” you tell em! Love Matt, though. What a great personality and talent.

Yes, Matt has a girlfriend. I’m pretty sure she was in the audience when he was booted.

I think the fact that “relieved” is the first word that comes to his mind shows how much the pressure of the competition got to him. He’s mad talented, but had trouble controlling the nerves and and holding up under the pressure.

I hope he puts out some good music after this!

maybe i missed it, i thought ryan invites all the booted contestants on his radio show; however, i do not remember reading about this for anoop/lil. I think Matt is talented but it was time to go and he should be glad he got more than his share of fair treatment on idol. best wishes to him!

I wonder what the judges would say about him working with The Fray and Gavin DeGraw… I really hope he gets to make the music he wants to make instead of the staying inside the box the judges tried to put him in. He seems like such a great guy and I really hope he succeeds. I loved when he said “I think they’re gonna bring me back…” when they asked him how the rest of the competition was gonna go!

Matt has a cute brunette girlfriend that’s in the audience often. I think she had her bangs pulled back last night.

Does anyone know if the booted Idols still go to Leno and Ellen and Mike/Juliet shows like last year? I haven’t seen any videos – only from Regis.

I won’t be voting at all and I won’t be watching until the finale (when Matt is back on!). I mean it when I say Matt Giraud is MY freakin’ American Idol. No one else can do it – Matt does it for me.

Ryan does normally have the botted contestants on the next day, but was out (sick?) last Thursday, so no Anoop interview.

Honestly, I don’t think I will vote anymore this season. Matt was really my only favorite that I would vote for. I will say this, I would like Allison to go as far as she can.

TWOP is reporting that Matt in his interviews is saying that Adam was not happy with his performance (which may be why Adam thought he had a chance to be voted off and would explain his weird facial expression after his performance!)

Maybe Simon was right that he had so much potential to be great but he lack a bit of confidence.

It occurred to me this morning that I think Ryan had asked him to pick the group he belonged in without declaring him safe. Make of that what you will.

Boy, that whole long conversation about whether Matt was getting any in the mansion was really weird and inappropriate (uh, rumors about Matt and another contestant aside). What exactly was Ryan trying to do? I can’t figure it out.

Awww – I am so thrilled for Matt that he is getting offers already. I think he is extremely talented. He sounded great when he sang his farewell song last night. If he hadn’t listened to Jamie Foxx, and just did it the way he did in rehearsal, I think he might have still been on the show. I am looking foreward to seeing what lies ahead for him in the music industry. He strikes me as a very sincere and nice person. There goes my wish for a Matt/Kris top 2!

I’m so glad he’s at peace with being off the show and that he’s relieved. The stress of being on that show has to be a killer. I’m soooo glad he went out on a good note, with a great sing-out.

I’m thinking that if Brooke, who went out fifth got a perfomance on the finale results, so should Matt.

I just hope he gives us a full version of Georgia. that would be awesome.

I didn’t expect to come to like Matt as much as I do. I often liked his performances when others didn’t, and found myself listening to his stuff over and over. The only performance I really did not like was the Bryan Adams song which I hate no matter who sings it. Kris or Allison will get my votes(if I vote at all) depending on which one performs best and I too will vote like crazy for Adam should the final two be Gokey and him.

Well as a big Matt fan, I won’t be voting again until the finale…then only for whoever is up against Danny if he makes it there! I like Allison, Adam and Kris equally.

I have this gut feeling he will get signed by 19 if not by someone else.

That’s great he has offers. I think all 5 will be signed by 19. I think they are all that strong.

The concert will be amazing. That is where Matt will really shine. I think he and Adam will have the biggest post Idol careers. He’s got personality, some edge to him, he can dance, play piano, sing. I think his problem was confidence and people stuck him with the Justin Timberlake title which he doesn’t like, and can now distance himself from.

I kinda doubt this is true unless they can reference an interview. It’s not Matt’s place to relay how Adam might or might not have felt about his performance. If he is going around saying that, it’s pretty uncool, and that doesn’t sound like Matt.

It makes total sense to me that Adam was not happy with his performance (why would Matt lie plus Adam face after his performance), but I couldn’t figure out why until I read this:

ALSO, what was wrong with him after the performance was that the band lost tempo mid-way through during a transition, but he’s SO talented that he adjusted to it, improvised and pulled it off without anybody else noticing, but HE, the perfectionist, was unhappy, knowing that it wasn’t as good as it could have or should have been.

He would say nothing of this, of course, because he would never call the band out like that. Instead, what he told Matt was that he wasn’t happy with his OWN performance. That’ just the kind of guy he is. But THAT was what was the matter with him after the performance.

I trust Adam for all his decisions and because he DOES want to win, I think that “I’m feeling good” will probably be the last of his flashy performances. Thank goodness he has such a perfect voice that he doesn’t NEED them to win……

Even though nobody could ever put out his beautiful light, I hate to see it dimmed.. even a little bit.

There was definitely something off with Adam (his personal feelings) about that perf. It was pretty obvious, and we’ve all gibbered about it elsewhere. Your explanation (Heart) seems plausible.

All I know is, it will set things up for some interesting moments from Mr. Lambert next week, without a doubt. Can’t wait. (Squeeeeee)

Matt was just on Jay Leno. It was a pretty quick appearance but it was a cool surprise.

What’s with Ryan being so sex-obsessed in this interview? And why do I get the feeling the topic was more about him than Matt or Kris?

As for Adam being asked to choose a group, if he was 3rd in total votes as some of us suspect, then either group would have been a correct choice. He’d be in both the top 3 AND the bottom 3.

Off the subject of our Matt but I think they purposely switched out Kris and Adam for the drama. Maybe just to make Simon’s dopey-gokey prediction a little bit more realistic?

This is what Matt said in the MTV interview. It makes me think the other quote just dropped that part. He also said he wasn’t in it to win but got his goal of playing piano on the Idol stage.

Oh wow….. GREAT point! I never thought about it that way. Just like the way they were sitting on the couch. He could have been smack in the middle. Obviously its better TV to put him in the bottom 3 than the top 3 though.

Whether it makes sense or not, it’s very uncool of Matt to go around intimating that Adam was unhappy with his performance. That’s for Adam and only Adam to reveal or not reveal to the public.

In the press phone conference Matt was asked about Adam being in the bottom 2. Matt responded with what Adam TOLD him – Matt had the right to comment – the reporters were talking to Matt not Adam – why it would be uncool is beyond me. He didn’t say he thought Adam’s performance wasn’t good – in fact, he said the exact opposite. He thought all 5 gave great performances. Why would Matt lie?

Matt is a classy guy – he has nothing but love for all the contestants. He has shown it and his cast mates have shown the love back. He said they were all like siblings. So, go Season 8!

I find it funny that the subject is Matt and people are talking about Adam and whether he liked his performance. Matt just responded to a question and specifically said that he thought everyone did great on Tuesday. Idol is all about drama and milking the audience for everything. Matt is a brilliant artist and I hope these offers come through. I think he will be signed by 19 and I actually wouldn’t be shocked if all 5 of them were signed. In reality, with this much talent anyone could go home at any time. At this point I don’t think it matters who wins!

Matt is an awesome interviewee. So honest and matter-of-fact. He’s the best TALENT this season of AI! I can’t wait for his album and to see him on tour with his own band. He’s amazingly talented and versatile. He can crossover all genres and be great! I hope the music industry embraces him and helps make him HUGE in the biz! I love you Matt G! Keep living your dream!

I can’t wait till you start covering the tour, MJ, and all these bloggers start writing in about how surprised they are by Matt’s talent. I think he’ll be great on tour.
