Matt Giraud performed last night to an estimated crowd of about 5, 000 people at the opening ceremony of the Meijer State Games of Michigan at Van Andel Arena.
The inaugural, Olympics-style competition was hosted by the West Michigan Sports Commission and was set to attract some 3, 500 athletes from across the state to compete in 15 sports from June 25-27.
The opening ceremonies featured a parade of athletes, the lighting of the cauldron, pyrotechnics and music, featuring Matt.
