Thanks so much for posting these vids, mj.

I’ve loved Matt from the start, and I love him still. He never quite got a handle on his nerves, but hopefully people can see the talent underneath. Hope he manages some sort of career after this.

The other contestants have a lot of love for him – that was a great comment package.

  • Cindyy

I love Matt! THank you for the videos. He’s so amazing, and talented. He really gets into the lyrics of each song. His studio versions are so amazing. I’ll follow his career forever.

  • sma11ie

Aw, I really love Matt. Seems like a great guy– genuine, funny, all that jazz. Too bad the persona he had on stage was one where he always looked like he was about to puke. Those nerves man. He needed more stage experience, I think. Lots of raw talent, sad he didn’t get to show it all on AI. Wish the best for him.

So weird, Part 2 and 3 aren’t loading completely for me… one gets stuck around 4min, the other at 13 sec…guess I’ll try again another time.

  • Lana

GOSH!! Watching these just makes me want to cry all over again. Matty is such a great guy, and he so deserves all of the success that he will get. Keep Rocking Matty G!

  • Victoria

Matt and his Western movie! :laugh_tb:

He seems like a great guy. I hope after Idol he can relaxxxxxx and not let the nerves get to him. I think if he can do that, he’s on his way to a great career.

  • weese

I hope your dreams come true Matty G.!

  • khomphuong

I like Matt ..Can’t wait for his CD come out….Bettter than that dumb Taylor HIcks …HOw the hell he won American Idol that season ?

  • maracaibo

    Awww.
Matt seems to be such a real genuine guy.
He took this ride with all the stride in the world. He seems so sensitive too,
I didn’t wanted him to leave. He has sooo much potential to make it.
When he is not nervous he is just freakin awesome. His recordings prove it.

I really really hope someone gives this guy a chance and signs him.
He just needs a bit of direction and he will be more successful than Danny and Allison IMO.
Go Matty G! I love you. I teared up for him last night. I will be following his career and will buy his CD for sure.

  • cacity87

Matt is amazing. He just has that “something special” that makes you connect with him emotionally…I am actually tearing up writing this (yes, I am such a baby!). I supported him from his very first audition when I heard him say, “This is big. This is big.” You could tell he was passionate about music and making the most of this opportunity on Idol.

I will be following his career forever. 5th place on American Idol is definitely not something to be upset about…although, when it comes to Matt, I know I personally feel that he could’ve won the whole thing. Who knows, the real competition comes after Idol anyway, right?

GO MATTYG!! Blow them away baby!

  • primeminister

    1) Jillian needs to SHUT IT about him being eliminated during “his week.”
She keeps saying “Maybe I’m reading you wrong” or “It seems to me like…” How about shutting her mouth and just FREAKING ASKING HIM how he feels?

    2) Adam: “Matt Giraud has a talent that intimidates me.” hahaha awwh!

    3) Seeing clips of “Human Nature” reminds me of why I liked him a lot back then. I think the nerves really got to him, which made him unable to really connect and succeed in a live-tv competition. Definitely very talented though–I mean, I’ve taken piano lessons for years and there’s no way I can play like that! Hope he puts out great music. :)

  • Jackfan143

Only wish the best for Matt. He’s a good guy who will be awesome on tour. Love that he voted for Cook. Make you even smarter Matt. GO MATT!

  • Tracy

Matt seems like a funny dude. I also think his nerves just got the best of him in the end.

  • ShellBen

Aww, Matt. He’s such a cutie.

I worry about him, because from reading around the net there seems to be a general distaste for the guy even on a personal level and I can’t really understand why. I find his nervous “aw shucks” personality so endearing. I hope people haven’t 100% written him off because I can see him making a career in music that’s good enough to make him happy. He won’t be a superstar, but going off of other interviews….I think he knows this. Matt kind of reminds me of Elliott during his season…in the sense that at the moment he’s very awkward and intimidated by everything and it’s really affecting him as an artist. After season 5, Elliott went out there and toured small venues like crazy, did interview after interview and now he’s a pro. His interview skills did a 180, and he performs with so much more confidence (I remember he used to get major goat boy vibrato jokes and I hardly hear that anymore). I hope the same sort of thing happens for Matt. He just needs to get comfortable with everything. When he’s relaxed he sounds so much better. I wish we could get full video of his rehearsals with the mentors…those clips always sounded wonderful.

  • TheRealLife

I sure am going to miss Matt. He is so amazingly talented and what I find most sad is he was never given the credit he deserved. He has so much raw talent and passion for music. I haven’t felt this connected to a musician since Billy Joel. I hope he has an amazing career and I know he has me as a fan for as long as he puts out music. Can’t wait to see him on tour this summer.

  • hardkandy

Matt def looks better with a hat on. I hope now that he’s off the show he will finally get that mole/wart/pimple removed coz it really is distracting and he will be million times more goodlooking and nice to look at without it.
I feel kinda bad on how huge my turnaround on Matt was, I REALLY liked him before he performed VLV on semis and it was just all downhill from there for me… but I wish all these contestants the best of luck and even if he’s one of my least faves, I won’t wish him any less than that. Good luck Matt!

  • cookcricket

I heard Randy say they’ve got your back Matt, I’ll be watching for that album.

Okay, I had no idea how funny Matt is! His western movie thing was hilarious! I have a few of his studios and will probably download this last one!

    Wish ya’ the best Matt!!

    2) Adam: à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Matt Giraud has a talent that intimidates me.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ hahaha awwh!

Hey, I don’t see Adam playing the piano! ;)

  • Laurie

Matt is very charming and endearing. I liked that he was a bit unsure of himself. He is so talented and it hasn’t quite sunk in yet for him that he is. Rickey Minor made a comment on how extremely talented Matt is as well. To play the piano like that without any formal training is impressive. I felt he had one of the best voices in the competition. I could listen to an entire CD of his many times over. I was hoping for a Matt/Kris top 2. Oh, and it was sweet that he mentioned he watched last year and voted for David Cook.

On another note, that Jillian person needs to go. She is terrible at interviews. Wouldn’t one say you made it to the TOP 5, not bottom 5? I could point out other things she said, but I won’t. How she ever landed this job is beyond me!

  • wonderings

I really like Matt, but I could hardly stand to watch the first two parts of these interviews because Jillian is so bloody annoying. Stop with all the over-gushy compliments already! (And the rather insensitive repetitive comments about being eliminated on “his week”) Smart questions & some sincerity would be much more appealing. Part 3 has a few nice bits though. I love to hear the contestants spreading love to each other.

Yes, here’s hoping the nerves will diminish now that the pressure of the competition is off. It’ll be interesting to see how he does on the talk shows.
I, too, think he could shine on tour.

  • wonderings

Yes, yes, Laurie! Very endearing, with so much talent & potential. Love the piano and the voice. I hope he finds some good mentors to guide him outside of the Idol bubble before his name rec fades.

( There was an offhand mention of Dancing with the Stars somewhere – I have no idea where that came from but it would be an interesting way to keep his face out there while making an album. )

Down with Jillian! Can’t wait to see Slezak’s Idolatry interview.
