The parade was 65 minutes late, but that didn’t keep people away from MacKenzie Bourg’s hometown visit to Lafayette Louisiana. The American Idol Top 4 contestant visited the University of Louisiana for a tailgate, sang the National Anthem. After spending time at his alma mater, St. Thomas More Catholic High School, a parade took him to Parc International for a concert.

According to The Advocate, MacKenzie performed four songs he’s done on American Idol — Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean,” Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and his original piece “Roses.” He followed with Justin Bieber’s “Sorry.” MacKenzie also performed “Halelujah.” and “Sweet Pea” by Amos Lee.

“This has surpassed every expectation I could imagine,” MacKenzie said to the crowd about how his town came out to support him. “Thanks for making this one of the best days of my life.”
