Kelly Clarkson premiered her new song, “My Life Would Suck Without You” this morning on the Elvis Duran show on Z100 in New York City. Listen to it now!

Reports had the song bridgeless–not exactly. There’s a slowed up verse that kinda serves as a bridge. It leads into a cool little instrumental break that explodes into the chorus. Very nice!

Yep. Kelly the Pop Queen is back.

    Ahhh it’s buffering! Thanks MJ!

    MusicOnDemand lady is back! LOL.

I like it – the guitar intro reminds me of SUBG..and I hear some dance beats..is this what some meant as Katy Perry-like?

Anyway, it’s growing on me..Go Kelly!!!!

  • yeahyeahsure

    Surefire #1! :clap_tb:

  • jokiebird

Meh…it’ll be a hit, and I’m happy for her, but it’s a little too electronica-dance for my taste. The cover is growing on me, though.

  • hypertwink

I finally got the joke. This is Dr. Luke talking to Kelly. I just remembered that he was also involved in Kelly’s spat with Clive.

  • Easy

    My Ipod…..would suck…..with this song.

  • gabygal

I really really want to love this….but right now its just….meh
I feel like I have heard this before

    but
I’m sure tons of radio airplay is in the future, its great to have Kelly back!

  • tinydcfan

LOVE it!! Jamming out in my office chair lol :jittery_tb: Thanks, MJ!!

  • abbysee

I like it alot. It will be a big hit. Can’t wait to hear more of whats on the cd.

  • Jolene

I think this is one of those songs that I don’t really like at first listen, but would later grow on me. My main problem is with the lyrics.
So far it’s meh as far as I’m concerned, but I’m sure it’ll be a big hit.

  • poporange

Now Kellys has a new cd and the song will be a hit on the top 40 , she is standing tall and I am happy for her. I do not know how much the label chastising Kelly on last cd effcted her maybe she just felt like doing something different then.

  • terps

It will be #1., it is really a good song to jam to.

  • http://widyatarina.wordpress.com widz

Yep, it will definitely be a Top 40 hit. #1 is a sure thing..
I’m curious to see what the rest of the album sound like..

  • calimari

Seems like a typical pop hit to me.

  • ggdoorsfan

Kelly is in great voice,, but I’m not feeling this song….. Her sound is usually so indistinguishable from the rest of the pack, but I’m having trouble distinguishing this from Katy Perry or P!nk…… I will wait to hear more songs from the album, cause I know Kelly has the voice and the talent to bring it.

In spite of my initial reservations, I think it will be a hit.

  • FolkFan

I think it’s okay. I’d be fine with my local radio station playing it, I guess, but I can’t say that I really like it.

  • http://myspace.com/pm68 Pam

    It’s an okay song.

Her sound is usually so indistinguishable from the rest of the pack, but Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m having trouble distinguishing this from Katy Perry or P!nk

You made a good point there. It sounds too much like what is on Top 40 radio now. I still think she’s a great artist and hope the song does well.

  • J.S.G.

Re-recorded SYBG and just changed the lyrics. Not a bad idea.

  • May

I’m not crazy about it but I agree that it will probably do very well. Right now it is sounding like a Pink song…just not as good. I doubt this was planned, but it was a smart move to release it while “So What” is losing steam and also smart to release it before Cook released “Declaration”. I see crossover with both songs.

  • weareallinnocent

    Alrighty then…

For context, here’s where my head is right now. Just this week I purchased and am enjoying listening to My December. So, I’m way into angsty Kelly and not quite ready to move into candy-coated Kelly just yet.

Also, lyrically, the song sucks for me. For me, Kelly singing “I’m nothing without you” lacks authenticity. In fact, the vibe I get from the song lyrics is that the label peeps with whom she clashed are forcing the subliminal message that Kelly’s life would suck without them, which basically is what they tried to impress upon her when she released My December.

On the other hand, if this is Kelly responding tongue-in-cheek, I could definitely embrace that message! That’s probably not what’s going on with this bubbly song, but maybe I’ll pretend so I can like it. LOL

Way too analytical, I know. Sorry. Like I said, that’s where my head is with Kelly right now….

  • latingrl2005

This a perfect poppy song to reintroduce Kelly into radio. She’s bound to have hidden gems in the album a la “Addicted”. I hope more people give MD a listen without all the negative crap surrendering it. It’s really a great cd.

  • elisad

Nice song, but the beats sound stupid.

  • SashaB

This song will get a lot of play on Top 40. I prefer Kelly’s voice over Katy Perry. Not an immediate love on first listen, but I don’t dislike it either. I’ll need a few more listens.

Am going to wait until I hear the entire album before I opine though. “Never Again”, which I liked, was my least favorite song off My December. “Irvine” and “Somber” are so different from “Never Again” – so I’ll wait and see. I’m sure the video will be fun. I enjoy Kelly’s videos.

  • windmills

I’d like it better with different production. If this is a song about Kelly and Dr. Luke/Clive Davis then the lyrics make me sad. They have Kelly singing “Either way I found out I’m nothing without you”! I’d rather not think of the song that way. It’s catchy, mindless fun and the video should be cool.

  • oceana

Well I’ll be in the minority. I hate it. I love Kelly’s voice, and I can hear her voice, but the loud drumbeat and electronic elements make it impossible for me to listen to.

This might be a good song to listen to at a dance club, but on my ipod? NO.

I hope the rest is not like this. I hate drumbeats that drown out a song, and over-production. This is so artificial. Darn I’m disappointed. This feels to me like a step backwards for Kelly. I hope the cd changes my mind.

  • hardkandy

I hate buffering! Definitely very Since U’ve Been Gone-ish. I think and I hope she will have a lot of success with it.

  • Niall

Kell, my life would suck without you. Welcome back.

    Yes, I love it. :)

  • golcook

I like this better than Pink or Perry’s songs. Just not feeling Kelly in here, but as she said in tne UK radio interview, the cover of the album is actually nothing to do with the sound of the songs in it “70Â ´s rock vibe” I’m hoping more interesting songs in the album like Maybe-Addicted-Gone.

But as you said, it will have huge success and honestly I rather see her succeed in the market with a song most people would like, but also having songs with substance in her album even if they won’t make it as singles.

  • golcook

And remember Light On?? Many of us were disappointed with it, and it turns out to be one of the worst songs in the album.

    Sheà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s bound to have hidden gems in the album a la à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Addictedà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ .

ITA! “Addicted” is still one of my favorite Kelly songs (along with Sober and BTHE).

  • hardkandy

à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Addictedà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ is still one of my favorite Kelly songs

Addicted is amazing. Her vocals in it gives me chills.

  • cheese

The lyrics are kind of “eh” but I like the overall sound of the song (I actually tried singing the lyrics to “Human” during one part and it worked) and I like Kelly’s vocal. I need some new music to get myself back on my dusty treadmill and this will do the trick.

  • stelladallas

I actually think it’s the lyrics that will make this song a hit, especially with “the kids” as they say. Besides the title lyrics, which are attention-grabbing (like it or not), lyrics like, “I have issues, but you’re pretty messed up too”, will appeal to the angsty young people.

I just wish we could hear more of Kelly’s voice on this song. The productin drowns her out.

  • bubbles

I like the song, but don’t love it yet. Maybe it will grow on me. It will more than likely be a hit, and Kelly does sound great!

  • oceana

I don’t think it sounds like SUBG because I love SUBG but I don’t love this. Go figure.

  • 2dogs

It’s very catchy. I like it and now the chorus is stuck in my head. They played it on the local radio this morning and the DJ’s were a little mixed about it. Like oceana, they wished it sounded more like SUBG. Although I love SUBG, I think this has a very current sound and will be a big hit for Kelly.

  • sabby_rina

I don’t really like it but I already know that I’m gonna hear it all the time and I’m gonna end up liking it.

I’m just so happy that she’s back with a new CD!!!

  • movin2thabeet

So far, I’m not really digging this song. Sure, it’s catchy and will probably be a hit on Top 40 radio, but I agree with those who’ve said that the production gets in the way of Kelly’s beautiful voice. OK for others to remix this song to be electronica, but for the original to be this way just doesn’t work for me. Seems like they were going for the sounds of chart leaders Pink and Katy Perry. Too bad, since it diminishes Kelly’s own unique vocal stamp and puts it on the back burner.

  • primeminister

I’m probably in the minority on this, but I actually liked the 30 second clip better than the whole song. No qualms with the word “suck,” but I’m not a big fan of the lyrics because the “Miss Independent” Kelly, whom I love, is missing.

  • lex

That’s about exactly what I expected after listening to the 30 second clip, a rarity to be able to get the whole feel of a song from 30 seconds worth, and a disappointment. I’m not sure I would have distinguished this as Kelly if I didn’t know going in, it’s very generic and pretty boring, actually. Probably a good workout song though, so there’s that. I’ll stick with My December and hope for a return to something more heart-felt from Kelly in the future, maybe even on this CD (though I won’t buy it without listening first).

  • luckeee55

Love Kelly, don’t love this song. But I believe it has huge hit potential judging by what is popular on CHR these days. I do wish there was something here that separated her from the Pink’s, Leona’s etc. however. Maybe the other tracks on the CD will be more “Kelly”.

  • http://absinthedreamers.blogspot.com/ Starrlight

It does sound like pretty much all the other Top 40 power princess. But Kelly just does it a wee bit better than the rest of them =)

  • GeminiDolly

I dont like this song, but I love Kelly so I hope she succeeds with it.

  • dreamr

It won’t play for meeee. :(

  • dante

Not sure how I feel about this song, but I love Kellly’s voice and it will at least be good for my exercise playlist – it may grow on me.

  • thesheriff

I don’t hate it. But I realllly can’t wait to hear what ballads she’s gonna have on the album. THAT’s exciting.

This is one of those songs you can get a speeding ticket to!

  • http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=587900002&ref=name cruzceleste

Not the best I have heard from Kelly, not crazy about the song, and the vocals arent that impresive… for me is actually in two or three leves below since u been gone…maybe if I listen to it 10 more times… but IÂ ´m sure her album with sell well…
