With so little Casey James news lately, I thought I’d post a little something that’s been floating around the net the past couple of days.

It’s a pre-Idol song, written and arranged by Casey, called “She”.

The live acoustic recording reveals a pretty melody and solid effort from Season 9′s resident guitar god.  That’s Casey’s mom, Bybee James on harmony.

Casey is currently settled into new digs in Nashville, where he is preparing to release his debut album, due out next year, on Sony Nashville records.

Listen to “She” after the jump.

I love Casey’s voice – I hope he does well (and stays bluesy rock – not country).

Wow, great find. Really like it. I think is fits nicely into the “alt-country” genre. Reminds me of a few different artists: acoustic Eddie Vedder, Ryan Adams and even a little James Taylor.

Very moving lyrics and interesting, compelling music arrangement. If Sony let Casey James put his stamp on the CD it should be an rejuvenating experience for listeners. Definitely has a crossover sound to his music as he indicated.

This confuses me as we have heard nothing from his record label ~ this is a pre-idol song. I hope they are investing in him but so far it’s all behind the scenes.

I’m also sure as MJ can attest, almost every idol contestant who gets a contract states they are going to bring something new to the genre. It must be in the contract script

Well they are obviously not pushing to get an album out as quickly as possible and they signed Casey as a band. Casey was 3rd in a year with very low viewership figures, so it properly does make sense for them to take a more long term approach then usual. They are not going to capitalize so much by the fact that Casey was on idols, so it seems like they are approaching him more as they would any new artist.

I love this song. When you can listen to a song and it touches your heart and moves you emotionally then (in my opinion) it would be a hit. This song does that for me. I can only imagine how great it would sound if professionally done. This was a live recording and it sounds great. I am glad that Casey is taking his time getting his first CD out. I would expect nothing less from him. I am proud to say that I am a sold out Casey James fan. Some have commented earlier that every artist says they will bring something new to the genre, I believe that Casey truly wants to accomplish that on his CD. I believe every artist would want to do that. Some may not be able to do that but I’m sure they genuinely want to be different. I believe that Casey will, he has a sound all his own, that I would recogize anywhere. I wish him the best of luck. He has paid his dues now I hope he gets to reap some of the benifits. I for one will buy his CD and any others that he puts out in the future.

Who says Casey James doesn’t have alot of fans?? I know of many, who followed him through Idol, followed by the AI tour, and continue to follow him. We are anxiously waiting his first single, then his first cd. I love the song “SHE” and hope it will be on the first album.
His fans are not going anywhere, and will be here to support him.
