You go girl! I was always asking about Lil on here but no one ever replied. She was kinda like “The Forgotten Idol.” Even in concert reviews almost nothing was said about her except she did a good job with Put a Ring On It.

I followed Lil on twitter as well as all the others. She didn’t tweet for about a month–up until a few days ago. So I’m glad to hear this news.

It’s a good photo, although a bit much IMO. She is a good-looking woman.

Hopefully things will go well for her. She lives in a good location.

Also wanted to say that I thought Lil did a really beautiful job of “Surrender” on the Idol Season 8 CD. I put it on repeat, crank it up, and just enjoy. I like that type of music.

Holy breasts, who are the other 4 who aren’t signed? Anoop, Matt….. uhh, I’m missing a few lol. But 6 seems like a really good, somewhat surprising number given how much people seemed to dislike this season.

This is good for Lil, I was one of her fans early on but then she started going sour like milk (which comes out of breasts lol pun). I could listen to her album at Hooters. Or when I’m eating melons for a healthy snack. Or when I’m watching Drake & Josh and Megan calls them “boobs”. Or when I order oven-roasted chicken breast, my favorite sandwich, at the local Subway. *is hit with a tomato in the face and people booing*

But in all seriousness, I always thought she had potential and a great voice, she was my very first favorite this season and I wanted to see her be the one to beat Adam and Danny. I loved her on tour (though I do agree with the critics that she did lack originality). I have a feeling if she comes up with something original, she could be a big hit. I love the Mary J. Blige/Keyshia Cole vibe she gave early on, those are two of my favorite R&B singers. I also met her on the tour signing autographs and she seemed like such a sweet person, we so sang Single Ladies together until I forgot the words. Such a wonderful moment that was.

Good for Lil. I love her haircut. I remember when the season first started, I thought she would be one of those to beat. I believe they featured her in some of the commercials for season 8. She can sing for sure.

I’m not sure what Bungalo’s relationship is with Patti LaBelle (whose name they misspell on their site, lol), or at least with some release that Patti appears on.

Seemed doubtful to me so I looked it up. Patti’s website and Def Jam records’ site both say she is with Def Jam, much bigger label (Ne-Yo, Rihanna among others). http://www.islanddefjam.com/artists/default.aspx?labelID=74
The link at Bungalo for Patti has a picture of a gospel album that shows up in listings elsewhere as under Universal Recordings. Maybe Bungalo has some relationship for that one album, although that same album is also listed under Def Jam’s entries for Patti. Not sure what that means.

Bungalo seems to have a lot of UAC types. I think Lil could fit well there, though that picture makes it seem like they are going straight for Urban…

I never ‘got’ Lil. I thought of all the black divas Idol has had over 8 seasons, she was the weakest. The news that she’s been signed actually really shocked me, especially since it’s before Matt and Anoop who are way more marketable. I mean, I’m happy for her and all, I just would want to know the record company’s thinking behind this.

I don’t mean to be cruel, but I’m cracking up at the idea that Anoop is just sitting around fielding offers, waiting for the best deal. Like there’s some line of record execs winding around the corner hoping Anoop will choose them.

As a side note, I flamed out famously in MJ’s AI pool last season because at the beginning, I had picked Lil Rounds as my overall winner. Man, did I call that one wrong or what?

SpenserJ, I understand how you feel…the first time I watched it was Top 13 night, and my favorites were Adam, Danny and Lil (I had no idea that Simon had said the same thing). I think Lil finally lost me the night she came out in a prom dress to sing Celine Dion. I wished that I could reach through the TV screen and shake her until her teeth rattled! The AI experience just did not bring out the best in her, I don’t think. But I hope that she has people around her now who can provide some effective guidance to her.

Anoop is just trying to find the right fit for him, and I believe he is actually going the indie route first. This is what he mentioned on his AI chat.

No, Anoop is not just siting around fielding offers,waiting….since he is fairly new to the business:

-he has been looking for management ( people whom he thinks shares his vision of who he is as an artist),
-he has been looking and meeting with possible writers and producers and making demo recordings which he’ll shop around record labels which he thinks exemplifies his music
-he’s been learning how to write songs himself

Anoop is an intelligent and ambitious person.I think he realizes that AI IS NOT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY so he’s willing to work for a deal….I don’t think he’ll grab the very first opportunity that comes by if he doesn’t think he’ll be able to make the music he wants to with them…

Well, good for Lil, but count me among those who’s shocked that she’s been signed. I honestly thought she was in one of those overcrowded fields where they aren’t looking for any more people to market because they’re becoming more of a niche market these days.

Heck, JHud’s album has not even gone platinum, even though she has become a huge phenomenon, has sung her stuff (usually gorgeously) all over the place, won awards for the album, etc. etc. (Not that I think that Jennifer’s album was a good enough showcase for her — seems to me she deserved much better songs, but still…)

But maybe Lil goes in a different musical direction from Jennifer? I thought of Lil as one of the pretty traditional, big-voiced divas, given the stuff she chose on the show… But the picture does make me wonder. She’s going to be Rihanna instead, maybe?
