Lee Dewyze, Thia Megia, Blake Lewis, and Elliott Yamin performed Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” in Downtown Branson over the weekend.

The quartet is playing at the Moon River Theater through June 16 as part of The Finalists Live series. For more information, check out this link.

My first thought was – “What is that sweet little girl doing with those dirty old men?” I would not have picked Thia to fall in with this crowd, haha.

Parts of it were OK, parts of it gave me a headache. I still like the original version the best. And also, Lee’s head looks GIGANTIC with that hair.

Oh gawd, no disrespect, but they just slayed that song but in a bad way. Their voices don’t blend well. At all.

Lee covered this at his show in March, which was the first cover I’d ever heard if this song so he was before the world caught up to this song.

Great video, love Lee’s voice on this song, rough and powerful.

Kinda of a hot mess I would say. I come away thinking Thia should have waited a few more years for idol she looks so much more grown up and her voice is great add this to her performing fresh pop material rather then “Colors of the Wind” she could nave done even better

We were just talking about Lee the other day and here he is. LOL
He kinda reminds me of someone currently on the show now..LOL

I take back what I said abou Lee being like Philip as Lee has more range in his voice than Phil.

You have good ears, maymirabella, good ears, LOL!!!

IDK, it sounds like the people in the crowd were excited to hear the song, even if it has been covered several times before.

I still listen to this performance of Lee’s over and over again…

PS Harry Connick Jr.’s wife has very good taste, not once, but twice.

Hey they probably didn’t rehearse this much so it sounded pretty good to me! Miss Blake and his BBing~ Thia sounded pretty nice in this! I love how Elliott didn’t even try to look like he knows the song xD

This just didn’t work for me – sounds too busy – didn’t meld well.

The first time I actually heard it was when Phillip and Elise sang it on Idol, LOL

Well, that’s why some songs get overcovered! …. I definitely get the appeal of this song (and the others I mentioned). But I’m burned out on them at this point …. and I kind of hate to get burned out on songs I like!

Wouldn’t it be fun to see former Idols as a group perform on the Idol stage once again.  Just a thought.

It took me till 0:19 to realize playing the video was a bad idea. Mother of all train wrecks. Amen.

My first intro to this song was Pentatonix of The Sing Off and then I saw Gotye’s performance. As those two set the bar so very high, I really cannot listen to poor attemots to cover a great song. This is certainly one of those times I had to stop listening very quickly!

It seems like the last days have been the “Idols United” days/performances, first that Glam Rock To Erase MS Gala with lots of idols being there and even performing, now this quartet doing some gigs together…I’m happy that Lee has not been exiled to Chicago though and still in touch with idols and singing together. I’m sick of that song too, but they did well and showcasing a little bit of their styles/personalities too: Lee’s- like the song that fit perfectly his style, Thia’s-her great pop-vocals, Blake’s- beat-boxing style still there, Elliott’s- more of “oh, well, not my thing” lol, but being there back up-ing… Life is good for many idols doing pretty well in many ways musically even without the business’ “star” stamp.

This must have been very impromptu like someone making a request or something….Lee did an awesome job on this song during rehearsal and at his Viper Alley show in March. I think if it had just been Lee and Thia after a few rehearsals it would have gone great.  Lee has more raw power and rock angst in his voice than Gotye and Thia has a very lovely voice like Kimbra. It does sound like this group is having a blast in Branson :)

Who says the business star stamp is a good life anymore. Look at how stressful it can be. Especially for younger artists. Need to enjoy their youth. Now that I think back to it…. a the time of season 9, Crystal and Lee were the clear frontrunners and nothing changed throughout the season. It wasn’t till Lee actually won people started to undermine him. Glad to see Thia again. She’s been touring in Asia. Saw a couple of clips on youtube. She still has one of the weirdest most intriguing tones I’ve heard from any Idol contestant. Which is why I want an album from her. I don’t think it really was waiting a couple of years… she was lacking in stage presence just like Hollie and Pia… but she had even more experience than Hollie… and look at what sort of a comeback Hollie managed in just 3 weeks. The places when the live rounds start is sometimes just badluck or not meant to be. If it had not been a double elimination that week, who knows…. she could have had one good week and then found her mojo from there just like Haley did.. because the raw voice/talent is all there. same way with if a shocker had come sooner this season…. Jessica wouldn’t be in the finals…. as the judges woulda saved someone else. A save changes the natural order of things.

Also… Lee sang this much better than Phillip i’ll have to admit.

Lee’s voice is always a welcome sound to me.  He covers this song better than others out there.
