Leanne Mitchell of Team Tom Jones, was crowned the Voice UK winner after a performance of a song that has become a singing competition reality show staple–”It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”. The Voice US runner-up, Juliet Simms and American Idol 3rd place finisher, Joshua Ledet also performed the classic this year. All gave showstopping performances of the tune, but Leanne is the only finalist of the 3 to finish at the top.

Just like the Voice US, The Voice UK ratings dropped after the gimmicky audition rounds.  The UK version lost 7 million viewers and there is already chatter in the press about whether this year’s coaches–Tom Jones, Will.I.Am, Jesse J and Danny O’Donoghue will be returning for Season 2. Read a recap of the finale HERE.

Leanne Mitchell – It’s A Man’s Man’s Man’s World

Leanne’s Winning Moment

The voting went on in real time as the show progressed.  That plan works just fine in the UK, with viewers pretty much all in the same time zone. The winner was announced at the end of the show.

Here are performances from the finale 4:

Tyler James – Time Will – Higher Love

Well, this is much better than his atrocious semi-final performance, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, but is still think he performs like a drunk person. His arrangement of “Higher Love” is unique, though.

Bo Bruce – Team Danny – Nothing Compares to U

A good fit for her voice, but a bit karaoke, no?

Vince Kidd – Team Jesse J – Many Rivers to Cross

He could have laid off some of the runs.  Vince was the 1st contestant eliminated, earlier in the show.

Way too many runs in her performance. I prefer both Joshua’s and Juliet’s performances to this one.

And did they deliberately style her to try and look like Adele?

WOW, They were right about the winner!! Leanne got some massive pipes going on there, but I’m beginning to tired listening that song. Its over-played on reality shows in the SAME year. Its obvious that anyone who sings this song will do a very good job with it so I’m not surprised that she won anyway.

This song: Juliet >> Joshua >> Leanna Mitchell >> Christina (JUST MY OPINION)

I think Xtina’s version is VERY overrated. This song is being performed so much that we can even do a ranking about it…lol

I’m at least happy a girl won a singing show, lol.

Having said that… when you do run after run after run, it really just becomes annoying. If she can tone that down, I’d have absolutely loved her performances. Those runs are just a bit much at the moment.

I still think Tyler James is bloody awful. His falsetto isn’t anything good as he must think it’s. It doesn’t have any resonance or vibrato. It’s like any male trying to imitate the voice of a kid.

Oh, I didn’t get why they eliminated Vince Kidd before announcing the winner. It was kind of rude, if you ask me. At least eliminate someone into third place or no one at all, lol.

Let’s announce one person who the public thinks sucks before we crown the winner! Uhm, just a bit awkward! :P

Leanne is just mediocre for me. Bo should have won. Her voice is captivating.

Was definitely rooting for Bo after Becky Hill and Jaz Ellington both got eliminated. Leanne is a good singer though, not mad that she won.

I’m not sure the exact format, but it seems like voting was going on either during the performances or after the first two performances.  After Vince’s elimination the top 3 reprised their favorite performances from earlier in the season (Bo did Coldplay’s “Charlie Brown”, Leanne did Whitney Houston’s “Run to You”, and Tyler did Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love”).  Then there was a second round of voting to decide the winner from those three.

Sort of like they compressed two week’s worth of voting into one night.

Voting started as soon as all three acts did their first song, then voting started. A few recaps then Ed Sheeran peformed, and the voting was frozen.

After Vince was eliminated, the three who were left did their favourite performance of the series and voting reopened to decide the winner

I would have liked to have heard DeAndre sing Higher Ground. IMO he has a much prettier falsetto and tone than Tyler.

Of the way to numerous Man’s World’s only Juilette’s moved me.

Of this final 4 only Bo held my attention for the majority of the performance.  Yep a bit copy cat but I found her voice interesting.  The others not so much.

Leanne does have pipes but nothing unique and I do not see star quality.

    Wishing them all success though.

I kinda agree with your ranking, Xtina screamed the hell out of that song compare to Leanne, if she lose the runs a bit I think she would do better.

    i don’t like her version
take a look guys in this duet and tell me what you think

I’m just glad Leanne surpassed that dreadful Ruth Brown chick. I like Leanne, but I don’t really see her being a star. But I’m also glad she beat out Bo. Sorry, Bo is a snooze for me. I just had enough of these quirky, quiet voice chicks. I want them to sing more like Rachel Zevita, and less Janet Devlin. I just like when a singer has more range.

I was shocked that Vince came fourth, I loved his riffing self, LOL. I’m more likely going to be looking out for music him, Becky Hill and Max Milner to be honest, than any of the top 3.

As a pure outsider to the UK version of The Voice my only comment is that it seems the UK was impassioned by a very poor redux of Adele…can the girl embody the Adele look any more closely…and the other girl (Bo)..take me back to the 60s and Twiggy…talk about retro with a look.

Leanne has major pipes, but I didn’t believe a word of the songstory.

Just based on the above performances, quite a few of this years Idols were much better, imo.  Still like Joshs IAMW better then the two gals.  Leanne seemed to make it more popish.  Certainly a different take on it.

I don’t see any similarity to Adele other than the fact that both ladies are a little on the plump side.  Leanne is a very different type of singer than Adele, although I love them both.  Adele’s voice is lower and smoky and she doesn’t do runs.  Leanne’s voice is higher and pure like a bell.  She has an amazing instrument.  Even her runs don’t bother me because they sound natural to the song and natural to her voice.  It doesn’t feel forced.  She can do anything she wants with that voice.  Whether she has star quality or not?  Hmmm, can’t say that I think she does, but I still think she will have a successful singing career of some sort.

I think the same, in parts. The similarities are that both are blonde blue-eyed beautiful girls that are obese. Leanna has more range, but her singing is quite boring, she doesn’t connect too much with the songs she’s singing.

This is my equation of the It’s A Man’s Man’s World Performance of The Voice contestants from all over the world:

    Juliet(US)>[Charly(Netherlands)=Karise(Australia)]>>>Leanne(UK)

Juliet is my favorite in terms of raw emotion

Charly and Karise both have very distinct voices and style and i actually love both performances

Leanne was competent but her voice is too ordinary

in the end my favorites this season in UK are Max Milner and Bo Bruce.  overall Max Milner is my winner as i was introduced to his original material on youtube and i LOVE most of them.  quite an accomplishment as i tend not to easily like the WGWGs that they’be been churning out lately on Idol, The Voice, etc. i love his voice. his blind audition and Free Fallin performance is one of my favorites from all of the singing competitions this season.

my appreciation for Becky Hill’s voice also grew. she’s still very raw and she needs a good collaborator in order to tap her potential

Part of Leanne’s appeal, it seems (for me included) was that she was pretty much written off a weeks ago, in favour of the much more pimped Ruth Brown, who was also on team Tom. She had been the bookmakers least favourite to win for the last few weeks, and when everyone thought she hadn’t got a snowballs chance to make it to the finale, she sung “Run to You” last week and blew everyone away. It managed to knock out Ruth, and she continued her momentum this week, giving 2 more great performances, and managed to snatch the title of “The Voice”!

    Well people love UNDERDOGS!! ;).
