Lea Michele, graces the cover of the December issue of Elle. The Glee star speaks frankly about the days after she lost her boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith. As press swarmed her home, she took refuge with actress Kate Hudson, who guest starred on Glee last season as Rachel’s nemesis, Cassandra July.

Kate not only opened her home to Lea, but to her family members as well, many who flew in from New York City where the actress hails from, to comfort her.

“I called her and said, I don’t know where I’m going to go because my house is swarmed [with reporters] She was like, ‘Oh, you’re going to stay at my house.’ Like it was nothing. She let my family stay there, and any of my friends. She made sure that in the refrigerator were my favorite juices,” Michele says. “I’ll never really be able to thank her, truly, for what she did for me.

Cory died from a toxic mix of alcohol and heroin on July 13. It’s a loss Lea continues to deal with every day.

“It’s very hard and you have to be very strong to come out of this alive, but I think by doing the best for myself, by showing that you don’t have to lose yourself, maybe someone else will feel some sort of strength or comfort.I know that Cory would want nothing more than for me to take this situation and use it to help people. I don’t know if I will. I don’t know how”

A little bit of scoop from the article: Lea and Cory dated briefly when Glee first hit the airwaves in 2009. Neither was a star at the time, so “no one really caught on.”
