Lauren Alaina on her Next Single, Co-Writes and Carrie Underwood

The Taste of Country blog had an opportunity to speak with Lauren Alaina the day before she sang at a Red Sox game in Boston. Lauren talked about her co-write, “The Funny Thing About Love” (sounds like it made the album!), her next single and confirms that a Carrie Underwood co-write made the album. Oh. And Taylor Swift wants to take Lauren sightseeing around Nashville!

Read all about it, and more HERE.

The story behind her co-write, “‘The Funny Thing About Love”, “Basically what we did, is we got together and we just talked for a while because it was the first time we had met, ” says Lauren, “I got to know the two writers, Brett James and Luke Laird, and it was really nice and they’re super awesome people. We were talking about stuff to write about, and we actually wrote another song before that one that I didn’t put on the album, and then we wrote that one our second time.”

“We were just talkin’ about how … it’s not about anything in particular, it’s about how when you’re growing up you never are on the right timing with the other person. You like someone who doesn’t like you, and then when you don’t like them anymore they like you. Or it’s the opposite. That’s basically what it says.”

On Carrie Underwood, Lauren says, “Well, she wrote one of the songs that’s on my album, ” says Lauren, “It’s a really sweet song about two young teenagers that fell in love and, you know, have thoughts like teenagers and do things that teenagers do, like they runaway and stuff. It’s really pretty.”

We may have to wait a little while longer for Lauren’s second single, “We haven’t even discussed the second single ‘cause my first one’s still doing pretty good. So I don’t really know, but I’m excited to get another one out there for the fans to hear.”

Lauren hasn’t met Taylor Swift yet, but she really wants to, “She actually gave me flowers while I was on the show and told me that she wanted to show me around Nashville, so maybe when I finish this tour we can do that.”

About heading back to school for her senior year, “I wish I could go back to school! I’m gonna go back — I just won’t be able to go every day. I’ll just go, I’m gonna try to cheer at some football games.”
