Lauren Alaina – Georgia Peaches – New Music Video

Lauren Alaina’s “Georgia Peaches” video debuted on CMT this morning. The song is Lauren’s second single off of her album Wildflower.

In the video, Lauren and a group of her teenaged friends show the boys in a local diner why Georgia peaches are the best. Lauren looks cute in jeans and a peachy shirt tied to show off her newly svelt midriff. Very cute.

Cute video. But will never understand why they would feel the need to have to show her mid driff off. These young girls have so much more to offer

  • Moria Polonius

    It’s so… country.

I still don’t know why they insist on making Lauren appear 10 years older than she really is, though.

  • halo9125

Cute idea- I wasn’t sure exactly what I thought they would do with the video, but this works. I HATE when they have her singing against those solid backgrounds though- that cheapened the entire video for me.

  • Anonymous

I agree I found those backdrops unappealing the dancing was entertaining could have shown more of that. Otherwise enjoyed it.

  • Anonymous

I don’t think showing her stomach is the problem with this video. It’s the thousand dollars they actually spent making it and the silly lyrics of the song is the problem. I can understand why the song is not selling much. It’s just generic crap that people wouldn’t want to spend ninety nine cents to buy.

What a cute video!!! Totally showing off her fun side! Loved it!

  • http://twitter.com/IkeMendes Henrique Mendes

They enter a place, looking sexy and flirt with everybody, but are never late for church or curse. lol
Cute video, and she is talented

  • Blower

Gonna admit that this video is SO chessy and some scene is just ridiculous.. what the heck were they playing with sugar? lol

But Lauren was cute in here and her eyes was so freaking beautiful.. I still didn’t like that she was really tan. She looks completely fine without that and makes her looks younger..

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

I try never to be negative, but this is not the direction I’d have gone…too flirty, bordering on ugh.  Knowing she’s 16, I switched away from watching…  I may come back and delete this since I don’t think I’ve been negative before…hmmm…

  • Kylee

    I liked it!

  • Blower

    She’s 17 :)

  • Blower

    She’s 17 :)

  • Anonymous

She looks so cute.  I love this song, and hope it takes off.

    too flirty

The song is flirty. It’s about boys loving girls from Georgia, and even has lines in it about flirting.

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

You’re right, I knew she was 17…and I know this is tame compared to other channels…thinking of how it will fit on GAC and CMT, compared to Luke Bryan, really tame…okay…still, hmmm…

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

All she did was flirt with some boys though. I mean, she is 17, and it does fit the song. But to each his own!

I thought it was cute and very Lauren.

ETA I just realize this is pretty much how she acted with Steven Tyler during Hollywood Week. LMAO!

I think it would have been better if it had been more edgy–have them wake up in the morning and drag themselves into church.

  • http://twitter.com/doesmonaknow DoesMonaKnow

    So soon and there’s a debate about Lauren’s image/wardrobe again? :)

  • http://twitter.com/LexieONeill Lexie O’Neill

For me, it wasn’t the wardrobe, it was the vibe.  To be fair, my 14 year old said, “she’s got it, flaunt it.”  Okay, off to watch a movie:)

  • http://twitter.com/tinawinabina Tinawina

LMAO! Oh well, no crime in not liking something. :)

  • Anonymous

I didn’t like the diner concept, I thought they could have done something a lot more original, even with a low budget. But Lauren did very well playing with the camera and her dancing was pretty good.

As for showing off her mid driff, I don’t see a problem. I can list so many stars who were 16 or 17, doing the exact same thing.  Britney Spears for example was 17 when she did her “Baby hit me one more time” video .

  • fuzzywuzzy

Lauren, you SLUT!  lol  j/k  I thought that the video was very cute and fit the tone and spirit of the song.  I liked that she was a bit sassy.  Lauren is talented and has a lot of potential, IMO.  Too bad I don’t like country.  lol

  • Chris

Ellie May showed off her midriff back in the ~70s when I was a kid watching the Beverly Hill Billies.  Ok, now i am showing my age.

I think Lauren was just flaunting a bit her new slim figure.  She took SO much heat, even now, go over to the LMMD video and there are always sniper comments about her weight.  There will be no “she looks pregnant” comments about this video.  Sunfare should give her a contract.

If I lost 25 pounds and looked like that you better believe I would enjoy showing it off.  In a nice way.

  • Anonymous

The only thing that I was annoyed by was the constant finger wagging. A little overdone IMO.

  • Anonymous

First off I am not in the least put off by how she looks or acts.  She is growing into a beautiful sexy young women and seems to enjoy that side of herself.  The truly upside is that she appeals to the teens as well as the 20 somethings and on up.  To my mind if she plays only to the teens and old farts her career is going no where she wants to target the 20 something crowd men and women in order to be successful.  That is the crowd that will be at the Aldean,Bryant,Alainer concert.  So far I think she has mangaed to play to that crowd while still being aware of the younger kids who like her who at least where I come from see much more sexual material then this video everyday on TV and in the real world.

  • http://twitter.com/TylerWV TylerWV

To me the concept of the video in the diner was the 50s 60s feeling.  I remember putting on my stepdads white shirt, rolling up the sleeves and tying at the waist.  Very little of my midriff showed.  It was the thing.  If all anyone ever has to criticize her for is showing her midriff, then the girl has it made.  Other pop stars her age or near are showing a heck of a lot more.

  • Anonymous

She did lose some weight. Good for her!

  • Leandro Cardim Da Silva

I can see a lot of country girls buying it. But only them.

  • amaryl

lol that pic is misleading, I thought I’m going to watch a pretty conservative video. ..yeah.
Very good video though. And I have to compare hers and Scotty’s. I think I’m gonna give the edge to her.
That boy in red is cuute, who is he? A friend of Lauren?
However Lauren herself looks pretty orange and not 16/17-ish.

    fun!

I don’t like country at all but I really like the melody of this song. I also love Lauren’s voice in it…it is perfect for the spirit of the song. And, just like Scotty’s video I also think this vid captures the character of the song well.

The lyrics are the only thing dragging the song down for me to enjoy it completely but I could see how this could appeal to the younger crowd.

  • Anonymous

The diner concept is okay, but just can’t get into the song. However Lauren looks great, the camera loves her. Nice that she could bring her friends (sounds familiar).

  • Anonymous

I don’t like country at all but I really like the melody of this song (not so much the lyrics but I could see how younger fans would appreciate them). I also love Lauren’s voice and personality in it…it is perfect for the spirit of the song. And, just like Scotty’s video, I find the simplicity of the storyline of the video appealing and think its this simplicity that captures the character of the song well since the song itself is not meant to be profound.

  • Anonymous

Well, I don’t really follow Lauren but thought I’d have a watch. She looks great, apart from being rather tangoed…have no problem with the stomach, if my stomach looked liked that I’d certainly be showing it off. First time I’ve heard the song, its OK, fairly catchy, not sure I’d put it on my ipod though. The main downside for me though is that it just looks so cheaply done, not very professional.

  • Anonymous

Hmm, seems pretty tame to me. Not really getting what’s so offensive. Teenage girls flirt all the time, and I’ve seen more revealing outfits in school halls than that.  ::shrug:: If anything, the low production value of the video is what offends me, and the finger wagging.  I definitely agree that’s annoying. >.>

  • Tess

I was actually on a road trip…stopped at a diner at some small town south of Fresno CA…and watched with amazement as a wedding party (gown and tuxes) strode in and partied to the juke box…ahh memories.

I thought the video was cute, bouncy, and 17ish.  It’s no multi-million dollar GaGa extravaganza…just a sweet, hometown, look at how 17 year old girls and guys act dressed in exactly what most of the kids her age wear in small town USA.  Heck, I dressed just like that 40 some odd years ago…and acted just like that but my shirt was probably unbuttoned lower, my jeans were probably a little tighter and my shit kickers had higher heels.

Lauren works the camera like a pro.

Vid has a retro feel which is fine.

    Lauren is pretty.

The blue/orange background has a cheap feel which is not fine.

Lauren and team were smart to choose an upbeat/uptempo song.

Scotty and team – take notes.

As a former waitress I’d be really pissed about the sugar all over the table.

Did I mention that Lauren’s tummy is pretty too?

  • SaSa8

I think Lauren looks fine in the video.  Just the whole idea of the video I did not find very entertaining or something I would watch again.  I especially did not like when she sang in front of the blue screen (it made it look really low budget to me), the guy dancing on the floor, and using her friends (where did that idea come from?). Just my opinion.

  • Anonymous

im glad they had those slightly cheesy backgrounds to balance out a very entertaining and appealing video. otherwise every Lauren hater out there would go crazy with their “too sexed up” comments.. overall it was a good job from Lauren and she is definitely a very talented and refreshing young artist in country music today. i personally loved that fun spirit of hers.

  • http://twitter.com/CanadianLady2 CanadianLady

Sorry, not impressed. Feels cheaply made, seems to be set in the 60s, she’s wearing a lot of make-up that doesn’t do anything for her, they don’t order anything, it seemed cliched, it reminds me of several other videos including Laura Bell Bundy’s, there really is no storyline at all…. I just think it could have been a whole LOT better.

  • Indigobunting

Aw, I thought it was really cute!

Nice true teenage vibe and flirty without being crass, trashy (I notice there is no cleavage which would make me ahem- I see nothing wrong with her midriff exposed; she looked very country and cute).

Beautiful eyes; never noticed them before.  And a fun toe tapping song.

    The video fits the song.

  • http://twitter.com/4everkrjeannie Laura Walton

I found the video to be uncomfortable.  But she expresses herself like she did during the AI tour.  If folks like that they’ll continue to support her.  If they don’t they won’t.  Scotty doesn’t even come in to this discussion. He’s a different artist than her.

  • Anonymous

Well, I liked the dog at the end. :)  Although I don’t exactly understand where he came from.  I could care less what body part Lauren shows off. [Although the camera was so focussed on her face I sense that she doesn’t move very well.] What I’d like is for her to stop wiggling her nose like a refugee from an episode of Bewitched. She could stop the finger wagging too. Maybe it’s me but while I WANT to like her, she comes off so smug and self-satisfied, IMO.  Eh.

  • Anonymous

Loved the retro look!  Also liked the waittress and busboy! Concept is a little like Lady A’s WE OWN THE NIGHT–a young crowd out with friends, looking for a good time, even if the kids in GP vid have to find their music on a jukebox.  But GP vid is younger and fresher. Can’t believe there are comments about Lauren’s clothes or demeanor.  Vid is youthful, loaded with energy, and innocent.  Think it will work well to promote Lauren and her album, WILDFLOWER.  Fun and cute!

  • Anonymous

Thats true us folks who like an upbeat energized performer with a great voice will continue to enjoy her as we did on the tour and IMO some who have never found that appealing will continue to find a way to make her sound cheap.

  • ptebwwong

I like the song. However, the video was ok to me. I like the dancing & seeing more of Lauren’s personality. I just wish the video had more of a storyline than just a song being played on a jukebox & people listening to it. I have seen some country videos with no storylines. I’m just saying I expected more for the video.

I don’t have a problem with Lauren showing a midriff. The downsides to showing her midriff I could see is there will be critics saying why does she have to show some skin & couldn’t the video focus more on her singing. Also, I could see criticism that country artists who started as teens like Taylor Swift or Leann Rimes never showed their midriffs.

I don’t think it’s a big deal, but I could see people criticizing her or making this more than it should. She’s 17, but she should be able to look & act the way she wants especially now that she lost some weight. As long as she’s happy that’s all that matters.

  • Anonymous

I didn’t like the diner concept, I thought they could have done something a lot more original, even with a low budget.

Guess they didn’t have enough money to rent the desert ;)

lol and really there is nothing scandalous about this video.  Its typical teenage behavior….well actually is what Disney says is typical teenage behavior.  My only issue it its boring.  The song is kinda meh or me and with a boring video there is nothing to grab you.

And I wish she would stop dying those black streaks into her hair…really Lauren Priscilla Presley is NOT someone you want to emulate

  • Anonymous

That video was adorable.  I really like the song too!  And Lauren is a cutie.  :)

  • Anonymous

ita.  And lol at the sugar all over the table!!!!

  • http://twitter.com/4everkrjeannie Laura Walton

No one is sayng Lauren is cheap.  She is acting like Lauren – like she did on the AI tour.  You either like Lauren or you don’t.  Not a big deal.

  • Anonymous

On to the video is was cute and it showed off Lauren personality, you could tell she was working with a low budget, but she made it work. I don’t why its so much talk of how she acts, she acted the same way on idol, just more confident now. Being a female in this industry you have to be. If she continued to act shy/good girl and not sure of herself she would get nowhere. She is appealing to the right crowd. The people who always liked Lauren will continue to like her.IMO

  • happyhexer

The video is fine.  I admit that I’m not sure that I would have paid attention to the solid-colored backgrounds if others hadn’t commented about it.  A little cheap?  Maybe.  But I also think they wanted to emphasize Lauren, without distractions, in those sections of the video, and that was one way to do so.  Could the video have been better?  Absolutely!  But it isn’t bad.  And I’ve seen videos by other country artists — bigger, more established country artists — that weren’t much better.

  • Anonymous

You are correct it is not a big deal we all have our opinions and we all have different taste in music and performers that’s cool.  IMO it goes beyond those things with Lauren’s critique at times.

  • happyhexer

Oh, and I didn’t notice the finger-wagging.  (Though I’ve seen Lauren do that before and it sometimes can be distracting.)  But I’m not loving Lauren’s makeup.  Too overdone.  Probably my only real complaint with Lauren.

As for her weight-loss, good for Lauren!  I thought she looked fine before, but her newly svelte look is very healthy-looking, not scary-thin like some of her peers.  This proves you can look good without being a toothpick.  And as I said, she looked fine before.  But since it gets harder to lose weight the older we get, it’s probably just as well that she slimmed down now.

Great Job on the video! Glad that you included your friends with you on this one. I’m just laughing at the other not so great comments cause it is making a lot more people curious about GP and it is now moving up on itunes! Woot!!! Woot!!! So thanks to you all! ;-)

Fun video of Lauren. Ain’t nothing sweeter than us Georgia Peaches… table sugar. Thanks MJ.

  • Anonymous

The constant close ups are actually kind of hilarious.  It’s like someone told the camera man to tighten the shot so that Lauren can let out her stomach because she’s obviously sucking it in.  LOL.

  • Anonymous

    probably didn’t make sense. :)

I wanna be a Georgia Peach!!!

  • Anonymous

I read through all the comments before deciding if I had anything different to add. Actually I’ve never liked the song but as far as the video goes, I think Lauren did a good job with what she was given. And I do think the video is going to appeal to the teen and pre-teen audience.

  • http://twitter.com/HaleysShindig HaleysShindig

I’m surprised the video is so low budget, and the cheesy blue backgrounds have to go. I like the song okay but it screams “we threw her in a cafe with some friends and a camera man we gave a 6 pack of beer to”. Guess they did the best they could with what they had to work with.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_2K6LL4WPUTAY6TKG2VG3SYFA5M Erlinda

I wanna be a Georgia Peach!!!

Yes, me too iluvai. Lauren sounds amazing and a cutie.  She certainly has a beautiful eyes and she can dance.

  • Anonymous

Wow, I never noticed how gorgeous Lauren Alaina is…eyes, smile, personality, and now she has a nice body too. Good for her for losing all the weight. I never really paid attention to her on idol, I was too obsessed with Haley. Thinking back, I do remember questioning her attire and poor posture. Now, I find myself YouTubing some of her latest performances (wow…the white house performances!).

  • shamrock

    …too flirty, bordering on ugh.

I don’t see a problem with her being flirty. When are you supposed to be flirty if not at 17? ;) If she were being slutty (which she isn’t at all) that would be a another story.

And I agree with Blower that Lauren has drop-dead gorgeous eyes, the shape, the colour, the lashes – everything! And also agree that she should use less (fake) tan.

I like the video in its cheesy fun way and it fits to the upbeat tempo and topic of song, but overall I am not too enthused about “Georgia Peaches” itself (what is it with Idols and their single choices?? Arrgghhh…)

    ETA:
I prefer the sassy self-confident Lauren (why is it only ever a problem if girls/women are showing self-confidence but seen as the most natural thing for guys/men?) to the “Bambi in headlight” impression she sometimes gave on Idol.

    ETA 2:
I don’t want to give the impression that I think Lauren playacted on Idol, I just thinks she was often kind of overwhelmed and/or confused, which is probably normal for a then 16-year-old in the spotlight of a 20 mill. audience.

  • Anonymous

About the video: If I didn’t know she was 17, I would have mistaken her for a very sexy 20 something year old and therefore NOT think twice about her flirting in a dinner 2 am in the morning…so I can see why some may have a problem with her “new” image. But really, her flirty personality has been there since day 1 so I guess AI fans will have to get over yet another idol “failing” to live up to the role model tag we give them, lol.

Question: Is it normal for some female Country artist to flaunt their fun sexy sides in music videos? I assumed country artist are more conservative than in some other genres of music. Excuse my ignorance…not a country fan.

  • Anonymous

“she acted the same way on idol…If she continued to act shy/good girl and not sure of herself she would get nowhere.”

In other words, she didn’t act the same way on Idol.

  • fuzzywuzzy

“The blue/orange background has a cheap feel which is not fine.”

I agree. That was one aspect of the video that I didn’t like.

“As a former waitress I’d be really pissed about the sugar all over the table.”

lol  Yeah, what’s with that?  Is that something that young girls do a lot in diners/restaurants?  If so, it’s news to me.  Maybe, just Lauren and her friends?  lol

  • Chrissie H

“I found the video to be uncomfortable. / Scotty doesn’t even come in to this discussion. He’s a different artist than her.”

I personally don´t find GP vid uncomfortable, but I clicked “like” because Ita to no reason to drag Scotty into this discussion. I somehow don´t get the point of keeping on comparing them. AI 10 is long gone. Lauren and Scotty are two different artists and very different personalities. And imo this is nicely mirrored in their music and their videos

  • fuzzywuzzy

“What I’d like is for her to stop wiggling her nose like a refugee from

I don’t like the nose twitching or finger wagging either, but I don’t get a “smug” or “self-satisfied” vibe either.

  • fuzzywuzzy

I’m not a country fan so I haven’t watched a lot of those music videos, but I think that Shania Twain often flaunted her “fun, sexy side” in her videos.

  • Anonymous

Lol, you got love Lauren and Pia threads, cause that’s when all the fashion and makeup experts come out of the woodworks.

Anyway, I’m really glad Lauren is making some people uncomfortable. At least that way she sheds the “good/shy little girl” image many had of her on idol, and she can move on with her career. This whole role model BS is what makes me uncomfortable.

  • Anonymous

I loved it, its beautiful and age appropriate, i think she depicts a regular girl kind of life which is very good,I like!!

  • http://twitter.com/KariannHart Kariann Hart

I also feel the video fit the song and the concept was cute.   Lauren is a very pretty girl – healthy looking, too.  I didn’t like the shirt, but showing the midriff was fine.  I can see teens buying this song.  It has a good beat, and I would give it an 85.   :o)

  • BonnieDee

Regarding the comment “It’s so..country”:  Well, ummmm, yeah, it’s a country song, country station, about Georgia girls. Should they film it in the city?    Nobody’s making Lauren appear older than she is.  Some kids mature at faster rates than others.  She has blossomed over the last year and a half from a 15 year old kid into a drop dead gorgeous 17 year old young woman. THe director did nothing but give her a pair of jeans and a plaid shirt.  Not sure how that makes her look older than she is.  I would predict in five years she is doing a lot of commercials like Carrie because she is so beautiful.

Oh, and the “midriff” comments elsewhere on this thread are giving me the giggles.  I feel like I’m in 1865 or something.  Good thing her ankles were covered up.  LOL.

  • Moria Polonius

I was trying to say something positive about it.

And Lauren looks 25 instead of 17 (okay, so she looks 8 years older than she really is) because of ageing makeup, not because she matured faster.

  • halo9125

I was probably one of the first ones to comment- since then I’ve watched this at least 4 more times and read the rest of the comments.

If anybody thinks THIS is inappropriate for a 17 year old girl- well, all I can say is, you haven’t been around many tweens and teens lately. Compared to what these kids are watching and listening to, and worse still DOING- this video is a pure as the driven snow. I am not a Lauren fan by any stretch of the imagination, but what’s fair is fair- it’s a cute video by a cute normal 17 year old girl. Given the choice between my child watching this or Lady Gaga- this video wins hands down.

  • Chris

Lauren has had the comment that she looks older from the very first day.  Ryan was standing there with her parents and when they said she was 15, he replied “she looks older.”

And watching it this morning on CMT, I think the blue background was an attempt to “match” with her eyes?  When they did a close up, it kind of reminded me of that portrait studio thing where they pull out sheets of options behind you and say “oh, this will look good with your outfit, or this will bring out the blue in your eyes.”  Later they flip to a yellowish color that kind of matches her hair.

A little old school, Fox Portrait Studio for your yearbook-ish, but she looks good.

  • BonnieDee

I never thought of the blue being used because it matches her eyes.  That finally explains it to me.  A lot of people have said they noticed her beautiful eyes for the first time.

  • Anonymous

How about a little bit of both and a lot of wow cares.LOL

I really like Lauren’s new video. It is fun, she looks great, can dance a bit.
The behind the scene stuff was really funny. The fact that she can not wink and sing at the same time, that she has to learn her sexy walk, etc.
After watching this, for sure, Lauren has to try for an acting gig, she’ll be great.

  • steph6449

Oh, boo. I guess I was too late to watch this, the video link is no longer working. Don’t see it at cmt.com either.

Will try to check it out another time though when it becomes available to see.

I think she did.  Remember her audition?

1 she tans at fort lake tanning where jody tinker johnson is her family. so its not a fake tan.
2 if you think she cant dance go to youtube and look up lauren does the cupid shuffle and then watch it on ladyme092964 video as i took it myself. shes got moves.
3 you cant please everyone all of the time.
4 i dream of jeannie …. belly interesting thought :)
5 never noticed any cheesy background or finger wagging or nose wiggling as i reckon im a lauren fan not a critique of backgrounds
6 hair streaks…lauren is probably “told” how to look, act, walk, talk, sleep, eat, move, go….until you are in her shoes, living her life, doing what shes doing and told to do, you should just try to appreciate the video, support her career or leave her alone :) shes doing something right since she is doing so well.
p.s. im a lauren fan and love her and have met her and spent time with her and she is amazingly down to earth, genuinely sweet, funky and funny and the video totally fits her personality. i loved it.

  • Anonymous

She wiggles her nose every half minute and IMO it’s super annoying,  so I’m surprised you missed it. ;)  But more importantly – has someone told her how dangerous tanning beds are?  Because if a 17 year old girl is doing that much tanning, she is going to have skin like leather by the time she’s 20.  Shame.

  • GS61

The tanning bed issue is really up setting me!
My best friend was diagnosed with skin cancer (melanoma, the worst kind) from direct use of tanning beds.
She now has scars on her leg from horrible skin grafts she needed to cover sections removed because of the cancer.
Lauren, you’re only 17, please stop!!

i think her aunt if the one who owns the tanning place. its her choice i guess. i dont like the cancer chance either. im gonna have to rewatch the video when i find it again cause i sure dont recall nose twitching. i know the finger wagging is something she does. i think its cute but again we all have our own opinions.
lauren makes her choices and we each make ours. i think the best thing to say is she cant please everyone.

Everyone in that video looks the same to my eyes in terms of tan nothing out of the ordinary for Lauren.  In LMMD it was makeup not a tan and IMO not a great job.See the finger wiggle think its cute do not see the nose wiggle really watched closely ;).  I know you really want to like Lauren because you have said so in many of your post so it is sweet of you to be worried about her using a tanning booth they are not good for you in the same way smoking is not good for you but people make these kinds of choices all the time.  I wish she wouldn’t do it either but I guess it is her decision.
