Watch Lady Gaga sing “You And I” the unreleased song Haley Reinhart performed last night from a top a giant show on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The episode is set to air today.

Gaga’s new video for “Judas” will premiere in long form on E! today and in short form on tonight’s Idol results show.

What do you think of Gaga’s version of “You And I”? It’s got an old-school vibe to it. I can imagine Elton John singing it. I like it.

    she looks like stingray.

Now people are gonna love the song beacuse gaga sang it … this song is great and haley did an awesome job doesnt matter if the song was heard before or not as long as the singer can sell it !!!!

  • CindyM

    Aww Gaga’s tweet mentions Haley.

ladygaga I performed on OPRAH today the album Version of Yoü and I: http://youtu.be/Wiatp6m_Sgo. Also performed by Haley on AmericanIdol last night! 29 minutes ago via web

I thought the same thing, re: Elton, when I saw Gaga do the song on tour last year. It’s a good song… haven’t watched the video yet (I’m working), but if she does it at all like she does it on tour, Gaga pours her all into the song, making it a real show-stopper.

I love this song, I loved it in concert. I can’t wait to hear the recorded track with Brian May. It could make me interested in her era again because Judas and BTW stink.

Moving over from the headlines.. I absolutely think Jimmy gave Haley this song to promote this song. Jimmy is a slick one. I don’t think he gave two shits about Haley and how it would effect her in the competition.

I give credit for Haley having the balls to tackle it. And her studio is incredible!

    The shoe piano is awesome.

  • sagi

I really like this song, too! I don’t listen to a lot of GaGa, but this gets me going! (and it’s only the second time I’ve heard it!) ;)

It is! If this were available as a single for Gaga right now, I think she would have sold a few last night :).

I liked the song when Haley did it last night, and I like it here. In general, I think it’s a pretty good song. I far prefer it to Born this Way.

It was very gracious of Gaga to let Haley do the song, and very kind to mention her in that tweet. (I’ve been a little mean to Gaga lately LOL. So, I want to make sure I also point out when I think she’s done a good thing :)).

  • muzikghetto

It’s hard to feel the song because Lady Gaga’s attire and the props are all I can see. Not bad but not that great.

  • Studio57

A few weeks ago Troy Palumalu from the Steelers posted an old video of Gaga when she was first coming out on the scene. Just her and her piano, and he mentioned that this was the Gaga he fell in love with and that she doesn’t need that schtick because she is THAT talented. I totally agree with him. she is trying so hard to be this decade’s Elton/Madonna/ etc that she is too stupid to realize she doesn’t even need to be. She has raw talent in spades.

So this song is going to be on Gaga’s new album? It was confusing when they described it as an unreleased song that she does live– made me think it was a reject that didn’t make previous albums than something on an upcoming record.

Yes, Track 5. She said in concert Brian May plays lead guitar.

If I had to choose one, I liked Haley’s version a little bit more, just because I think Haley’s scratchier vocals match the 70s-soul-funk sound of the song better. But both ladies are great on this song.

Maybe also, as said above, Gaga’s costuming and sets get in the way of my feeling & seeing her emotions.

Yes, this song, as well as Fever, sound very very Elton-esque.

Screw the judges. I love the song, I love Hayley and I am starting to remember why I loved Lady Gaga!

  • wolfsbane813

you&i does sound very heavily inspired by elton john. my sister walked in to listen because she loves gaga and i told her haley was performing an unreleased gaga song and she even pointed out that it sounded like an elton song.

  • Joyed

Really liked both videos. The shoe piano cracked me up – I enjoy the spectacle she brings with her. She felt more human and artsy in that performance than other things have made her seem lately.

I wasn’t sold on Judas as a single, but the video was kind of fun – it reminded me of a cool movie and didn’t look cheap like the Born This Way video did.

Also, apparently Mark from SYTYCD is in the video. Cool gig for him.

I loved both of Haleys songs last night, the judges except for Steven of course were just the usual horse butts they are to her. She was extremely smart to go with this song, opening the lines of communication with Gaga and helping a body out by promoting Gagas song? smart and good people to know if this does get her kicked off but I hope hope hope it is Jacob and not Haley, she is great

I drove myself nuts figuring out where I knew this song from- here it is:

The fact that Gaga let Haley do an unreleased song on Idol is so amazing! The fact that the judges didn’t “get” how amazing this was, is just mind boggling!!

Well Damn.. I was right about single switching, but not to ‘You and I’. Trying to sell the album?

New Lady Gaga (another already?!) comes Monday, called “Edge of Glory”. You know we’ll have it!!! =)

    Rolling Stone on EOG:

“Edge of Glory” – This one sounds crazy in print — it’s a massive power ballad with heavy club beats that features Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band wailing on his saxophone — but somehow it all seems totally natural when you actually hear it. There’s an element of cheesiness to it, but it’s totally captivating and incredibly catchy. If any of these new Gaga tunes demands to be a big fat hit, this is it. The inclusion of Clemons is an inspired touch that amplifies the song’s Eighties stadium rock vibe, but his actual performance is amazing and ranks among the best of his career.

  • LadyBeBop

Not a Gaga fan, but I love this song, and I love it on Haley. In fact, I bought this this morning. The first Haley song this year.

When I heard it for the first time last night, the first song I thought of was Elton John’s “Sweet Painted Ladies.”

  • sagi

I keep hearing “You and I” over and over in my head. And I just watched GaGa’s performance on Oprah. OMG! I think I have just went gaga for GaGa!? 8-O

  • iani

I like Lady Gaga’s version a lot and good vocals too, more then Haley’s version and I like her, but too many growls that killed the simplicity of the song. Beautiful one, too great to fit with the rest of GaGa stuff. Could have been less visual for her supposed single video maybe, so a No No for her album selection, I’ve seen she has performed it many times in concerts. Video is OK, at least she looks pretty, I can see some nice features of her face like eyes and mouth and less witchy ones as she was on Jay Leno after the Grammy. I like her as an artist, the talent is there, the OT is there too but doesn’t rub me in the wrong place. I don’t like her affected talks in interviews and all the @$$ kisses towards her little monsters(fans).
ETA: I would like to see an all acustic Gaga show, the difference from the electronic, rythmic beat to the stripped-down music(her music is pretty simplistic from mpov, but simply pretty good) would be epic for me. Sad that some good songs don’t get the cut to make room for some like Telephone, Judas, Alejandro to fit the overall flow of the album…

Gaga let Haley do an unreleased song on Idol

err, more like Haley was chosen to begin the 4 week pimp parade of Gaga and her material on Idol. Like the Oprah appearance (that was taped days ago) just so happened to coincide with the American Idol performance. The manipulation is getting pretty outrageous.

  • brittneybabyy

I really like You and I. And I have a lot of respect for Haley for tackling it. I’m not a fan of her, but hats off and I actually thought she sounded good on the Lady GaGa number, contrary to the judges.

    she looks like stingray.

Now to comment on GaGa – she really doesn’t need all of the flashy things, huge unnecessary props and ridiculous costumes. Because with that hat/mask thing, she did look like a stingray! She has the talent, she really does. But what in the freaking hell is that Judas crap? I love her, I’ve seen her live and I listen to her music like crazy, but I cannot STAND that song. It sounds like nails on a chalkboard, the melody is virtually nonexistent and the auto-tune is almost as bad as a Ke$ha song.
