At least Arista Nashville got a banner ad on the top of the Country page on iTunes, and a spot in the “What’s New” section in Country for this album. She’s on the second scroll of New Releases on the main page and the Music page. Thank goodness, because they didn’t do any of that for her single.

I wonder if she’s going to do a video for 15 Minutes?

I think I’m going to buy the album out of support. I was a little iffy on some of the songs, but maybe they’ll grow on me. Kristy Lee does that–she grows on people over time. lol.

She sounds better than I expected, and I think her album is not bad, but I don’t know much about country music. I am buying her cd. I want her to do well. Go Kristy!

  • Lu

NIce album cover. I didn’t know she was into horses! :wink_wp:

  • psnax

I think I’ll buy some of the songs but not the whole album. I know nothing about country music but tend to like the more pop country so there are a few things on the album I’ll be adding to my iPod. Incidentally, Kristy got some promotion on my local radio station at 6.30am this morning. The DJ talked about the album drop and played 30 seconds of the single. Interestingly she also said that Kristy stole the show at the AI concert she went to.

‘Kristy stole the show at the AI concert she went to.’

    really?

I do like her but she was the least fave at the concert I saw.

Why Wait? All I can think of is premarital sex . :lol_ee:

    Crap, I’m old.

I wish her well. The cute and blonde country singer list grows longer and longer.

  • idolbeat

I just bought mine. I hope she gets some more promotion.

  • ianamy

Wow good luck Kristy. You put out a quite good album. Hope the label promote you more!

  • idolbeat

I think I like Why Wait better than 15 Minutes of Shame. It is kind of a female’s version of an Alan Jackson song. I think it could be a big hit.

  • gingerly

I still don’t know why 15 Minutes became her first single. There are much better songs IMO on the album. I was going to buy it but then I lost my job yesterday…

Kristy stole the show at the AI concert she went to.

I don’t mean to discount the fact that Kristy must have her fans, but I have to chalk this up to the typical radio DJ kiss-assery that takes place in interviews.

I think she does a good job with the singing, but I’ll have to pass on this because I’m pretty meh on country and VERY meh on these songs. As much as I loathe Taylor Swift’s voice with a passion and think that KLC is a way better singer and performer, TS’s songs seem catchier and less forgettable to me. But who knows what will happen to KLC. I’m glad she’s getting some promo, and I wish her well. And of course, if one of her songs grow on me down the road, I might change my mind and buy it.

I’ve been listening to this for a few days and it is pretty mediocre.

It is about what you would expect it to be, an album repeatedly hitting all the country cliches (mother, God & patriotism).

Kristy Lee sounds like, well, like Kristy Lee with the liberal application of studio corrections expected in a brace of songs recorded over a total of four days, likely, just the demo girl did.

I think the “Jason” in the middle of 15 Minutes of Shame really seems like an afterthought and one that really doesn’t enhance one of the few decent songs on the album. I actually like the acoustic version that she has done better than the album rendition. It is up on Youtube here:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eai8uxOrFyY

The title track, Why Wait, is slow and dreary, hopefully, only included for the alliterative aspects of its name and without any intention of singling it.

Like My Mother Does is a serviceable ballad with a decent set of lyrics and message. Definitely, not a single.

I Think Too Much is a cute, upbeat song. Could be real fun with the right video.

The one Carrie co-wrote, Not Tonight, is better than I expected. A bit of sass/edge and pretty catchy too. I could see it being a single, just because it also raises Carrie’s star too…

If they want a spiritual type (think: Jesus Take the Wheel) of “life affirming” single then it has to be Plant the Seed.

The rest of it pretty much reeks of Idol quickie album. Recycling God Bless the USA on a 10 track album is just plain cost cutting or pandering, depending on how you look at it.

I like Kristy Lee so I’d already decided to purchase this long ago to support her. When I saw how quickly this all came together, I approached listening to the whole cd with much trepidation figuring this can’t be very good but I have to say I’m very pleasantly surprised! I think Kristy sounds very nice on this and yes sometimes things venture towards “overproduced” territory but it doesn’t seem like there’s very much music put out these days that is supposed to have mass appeal that isn’t at least a bit overproduced. I always thought Kristy had an excellent tone to her voice and I can still hear that on this cd. I have to say as someone who has purchased my share of idol cd’s over the years, I think this cd as a whole stacks up quite nicely when compared to other idol debuts. In my opinion and I’m sure many will disagree but there are no songs on here that jump out as being embarrassingly bad or that stick out as being pure filler, etc. There’s no “Open Toes” here (sorry to any Kat fans for singling that song out) I find the whole thing very listenable and I’m actually quite curious to see what the future singles will be as I can see valid cases being made for several of the songs on here to be potential singles (“Not Tonight” and “I Think Too Much” would get my vote as the two that need to be released. Sure this is standard country pop and the cd doesn’t blaze any new ground or anything but what idol debut release ever really does? I think this cd holds up nicely for what it is. I hope Arista will step up the promotion and support this cd because I think it’s a solid enough debut and I’d like to see what Kristy can do in the future when she is allowed more time to work on a project. I hope this does well enough for her that she’ll get that chance. She certainly seems like a hard worker so I wish her nothing but the best and I hope she gets a nice career out of this.

I actually prefer the tone of KLCs voice to Carrie Underwood’s……

CU’s voice on her last single…”Last Name” chills me like fingernails on a chalkboard.

  • soundscene

Go Kristy! The album is #5 in Country and #36 in all of iTunes!

  • idolbeat

Go Kristy! After listening to the album, Not Tonight, I Think Too Much, Like My Mother Does ( I like this one, maybe not a number one hit but still good) and Cowgirls are my overall favorites. Baby Believe is pretty good too.

She needs to do a video and sell herself. I Think Too Much would be a great video!

  • BruceW

This album is actually very good. Like my mother does, and Baby Believe are great, Why Not very good, Not tonight is good, and Homesick is catchy, and of course being a veteran “God Bless the USA is fantastic.

  • cruzceleste

Actually her album is at 8and the single is at 66 in country singles in iTunes… I guess those just go down
