Cute – and the dress looks gorgeous from what we can see of it.

  • tinawina

I think she’s doing something unholy with that horse.

  • tinawina

And the horse doesn’t seem too happy about it either.

  • http://www.myspace.com/gwendolyndiane GwendolynD

    That’s actually a beautiful picture.

And….um….I really hope she does well. Really, I do.

  • AInoob

    LOL, tinawina!

I’m not particularly a fan of Kristy Lee’s, I don’t feel all that strongly about her either way, but I sorta feel sorry for her. There is so much to make fun of regarding this album that it seems like her label is almost sabotaging her. I don’t think she’s going to have an easy time of it so I wish her well if for no other reason than she’s probably a nice enough person (all the other Idols seem to really like her) and her voice, IMO, is no worse than Taylor Swift’s and look at how well she’s doing.

Totally OT, but I thought that concert advertisement was for one of the Olsen twins :lol_wp:

So I’ll repost this here where it’s relevant.

My first reaction to KLCà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s album cover was to snort out loud. I cannot believe they used her sob horse story for this.
This whole thing is made to be ridiculed: The cover, the title, the first single title, the fact that thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s no promotion to speak ofà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦
Unless theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢re just waiting for the tour to end, but IDK, it doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t feel like a lot of thought or effort is being put into this whole thing.

  • http://myspace.com/susanatfox sumidol

It is a very pretty picture of her, she looks happy.

  • gabam

I’m not a Kristy fan. I’m neutral about her. Don’t love, don’t hate. Although I won’t buy her CD, I wish her well.

I wonder why there are only 10 songs on the CD. I know that she recorded it in four days. They should have taken another day and recorded at least two more songs for the CD.

I actually LOVE the CD cover. I think that it’s beautiful and artistic and calming and scenic and…

  • tinawina

@ Jolene – I don’t remember how they handled Pickler at first. Maybe it’s similar? Did her album cover have Pickles standing next to calamari or something? LOL.

  • proudmom

Not a big KLC fan, but I like the cover. She looks beautiful.

  • toma

“A girl and her horse. How romantic!”

    Priceless, MJ!

Oh my! What the heck Kristy Lee?! No ..no.. no. What’s this reaction i’m feeling regarding the cover? Shock… HORSE… romance novel..emphasis on the “why wait”… (harlequin style)… HORSE… I don’t know?! Are the trees blue?!

…ok… maybe I have to get used to it. Ok.. just took another look.. that’s one GIGANTIC horse compared to Kristy… well.. Kristy looks very pretty and happy.

I think I know what’s bothering me. It looks like her label is trying to sell a HORSE.

I’m afraid for Archuleta! Jive.. you better not mess with David’s cover like this!!

  • sabby_rina

    Pretty!!

  • Jolene

You know what’s worse than having your album cover dominated by a horse? When even the horse doesn’t look like he’s into it.

OK, enough snark from me. KLC is very pretty and the cover is generic but nice. It’s not anything that would grab someone’s attention, but it’s not unappealing either.

I guess I’ll wait to see about her promotion and what kind of effort will go into pushing this album.
It doesn’t make sense that they’d sign her and not give her some backing, so I hope to see some action for her soon.

  • tinawina

I guess Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ll wait to see about her promotion and what kind of effort will go into pushing this album. It doesnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t make sense that theyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢d sign her and not give her some backing,

I hope so. Because as much as I snark on this cover, KLC truly has worked hard and persevered through the kind of career ups and downs that would have driven lesser chicks out of the business. She deserved better treatment. And I don’t even LIKE her.

    Now back to the snark:

that’s one GIGANTIC horse compared to Kristyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦ well.. Kristy looks very (snip) happy.

My head is about to explode here. So.Much.To.Say. Oh lord, give me strength. Must.Not.Go.There.

    :blink_tb: :down_tb: :flush_tb: :wallbash_tb:

KLC Team must have been going… “ok.. let’s throw her on a horse and barely put her face on the cover.. oh and don’t forget to bore the horse to death before taking the shot.” ..nationwide distribution.. yes.. yes.. check … first hit single “15 minutes of shame” .. yes yes.. check

KLC Team.. synchronize your watches for the album distribution… yes ..yes ..check.. wait for the big hand to come to the top of the hour… ANNNNNNNNNND…

    BEGIN!!! ….15 minutes of shame

..*claps hand to mouth* ….i’m sorry KLC fans… i’m just in shock. Maybe this is how they do it on country albums. How many covers have horses?? I’m sure this isn’t the first album with a horse.

I was really hoping for something along the lines of a Faith Hill album cover.. all breezy and white linen type of feel. KLC would have been gorgeous in a FH ensemble.

But nooooo… KLC Team said.. “we want a big boring horse and blue trees.”

*sigh* …Well.. I don’t think the cover will keep her from having Country success. Hey, if Pickler can do it.. anyone can! Go Kristy!

  • jenniewdc

Now, what picture do you suppose is on the rear, ahem, I mean on the back of the album cover?

Ah, well — At least there’s a photo of KLC on the cover, even though she’s upstaged by her horse. Pretty horse, pretty girl.

  • cookcricket

I really like the cover! I think it completely captures who KLC is. She’s an outdoors type girl who loves horses. However the beautiful dress captures her true undeniable beauty.

To me the horse looks fine. Growing up with horses I’ve seen many in life as well as in pictures. It kind of has a serene look in it’s eyes.

I was never a fan on the show, don’t like the single, but am interested in hearing the other songs, if possible as singles.

  • Jolene

Can we have garden gnomes for DC’s album cover, Or would that be considered further oppression? They must be freed after all.

I wonder – if they wanted to rush release KLC’s single, why wait around with the promotion? Obviously it isn’t really selling much on AI fans alone… they could’ve worked on it some more and got it out there with a strategy to get some impact.

I give up on trying to understand record labels and their logic.

  • kathrynTX

First thought…this looks like an album cover I would see in the COUNTRY section at Half-Price Books for $3.97. Next thoughts…I was almost 100% a country listener for the last oh about 20 years. However, I bought very little country music or ANY music really during that time. Because of Idol this year, I am now back to being a ROCK and new music fan! David Cook totally sucked me into new rock. KLC did NOTHING for me as a country singer while she was on AI. I only drifted further and further from mainstream country as AI went on. Now I’m in Cooklandia and having a GREAT time with new music!

  • IGetCranked

I don’t wish her ill but I just can NOT get into her. I think I’m colored a little because I think that she flew by on her backstory and looks instead of talent. Plus, during the semi finals it kept being brought up about how sick she was. Well the others were too. I since found out that Archie was really sick during Another Day in Paradise and he got called out for hitting a bad note. Eh, all that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, I just feel sorry for the girls who never had a chance. :/ She looks really pretty in her photo.. good luck Kristy.

  • MagazineFreak

She does look pretty, and the dress looks pretty too (from the 1/2 inch of fabric I can see), but the cover itself is made of dumb, along with the title. I feel like putting a giant horse on the cover is basically making it scream “I’m country, y’all!” (tm Britney). We get it, it’s a country album.

I wasn’t a fan at all during AI, and having just attended the DC concert, I am not too impressed with her. She was technically good, but I found her very robotic. Good singer? Yes. Personable? Not so much.

  • BootStar

There must be something wrong with me because my first thought was, “Is that the horse she sold to get on AI or is this the one she replaced it with?”

  • maturin

    Uh?

    1. 15 Minutes Of Shame
    2. Why Wait
    3. Like My Mother Does
    4. Hoping To Find
    5. Baby Believe
    6. Not Tonight
    7. Plant The Seed
    8. I Think Too Much
    9. Homesick
    10. God Bless The USA

This list sounds like the story of a really bad, short marriage.

Sorry Kristy, girl! Good luck and all.

  • shelter

At least, Kristy’s not in a mini-dress straddling a chair.

  • idolbeat

    Good luck Kristy!
I like 15 Minutes of Shame! I hope the album gets promoted better too.

  • abbysee

But this is a KLC section, I won’t snark. I will say that I think it was a no brainer to use the horse, her on top of it like that is just all kindsa wrong, though. Something tells me the content is equally so.

  • smartcookie

I have to say that I don’t think it looks like a romance novel. They usually have a half-naked guy, not a horse. This looks to me like a children’s book aimed at horse-crazy pre-teen girls. Like Black Beauty and Misty of wherever-that-was and My Friend Flicka. Maybe pre-teen girls don’t go for that horsey stuff anymore. No clue.

So maybe it looks more like September in the horse-lovers’ calendar or something.

Whatever it resembles, it’s nothing that would make me pick up a CD ever in a hundred years. Even from the bargain bin.

I’m not going to say a word about the song titles. I mean… Oh, dear.

  • sarcasticgirl

(Long time lurker first time poster here!)

That horse looks seriously not amused.

snipped off-topic stuff…I’ve moved the archie post to the Headlines thread. thank you!

  • bluegreen

Hey, is that her had-to-give-away horsie or some other random horsie? Either way, there is something really funny about this album cover. It’s cool, though. I’ll remember it.

BTW: Listening to XM radio today in the car and someone brought up an old Grammy catagory: best album cover. Made me long for the days of vinyl. But wait! I read an article about a month ago that said the record industry is hoping to give itself a boost by introducing the Next Big Thing, going to a new version of vinyl, which supposedly will have both the warmth of old vinyl and the clarity of digital. If this happens, I’m in. It would be great to have some nice album covers again to buy.

  • Kirsten

Hey, they are trying to rip of Annie Leibovitz’s picture of Daniele Radcliffe for the Vanity Fair Equus article. Ahem. LOL.

Ten songs? What a rip-off! I thought CDs always had at least 12 songs on them. Still, it’s Kristy Lee, so maybe they thought 10 was enough. Ahem.

Here is my interpretation of what Kristy means by each song title:

    1. “15 Minutes Of Shame” = the amount of time I [Kristy] felt bad for brutalizing “8 Days a Week”
    2. “Why Wait” to find decent songs. Just release whatever Carrie and Kellie didn’t want on their album
    3. “Like My Mother Does”, I hope this gives me enough money so I can FINALLY move out of the house
    4. “Hoping To Find” a career…any career….please let this work, please! I’ll sing Amazing Grace again if that will help.
    5. “Baby Believe” that I really can sing despite what I did to “8 Days a Week”
    6. “Not Tonight” – what Paul MacCartney said when I asked him if I could perform at his concert.
    7. “Plant The Seed”. When in trouble, sing something patriotic
    8. “I Think Too Much” – really? Okay, then.
    9. “Homesick” – What I made people at home when I sang “8 Days a Week”. Sick.
    10. “God Bless The USA” = “baby believe”, that this is the song that showed “I think to much” by “planting the seed” that I’ll do anything, “like my Mother does”, “hoping to find” a career. “Why wait” to become a good singer because there will be no “15 minutes of shame” by pretending to be “homesick” and patriotic at the same time.

  • Zeppelin

Not a fan of Kristy’s music but that’s a pretty cover. Cute vlog too.

  • J.S.G.

The horse is Mr Ed and he sings with Kristy Lee on ‘Not Tonight.’

  • Zeppelin

    ^ ROFLLLL.

  • Suzanne

    That’s a lot of horse.

  • Kirsten

BTW: Listening to XM radio today in the car and someone brought up an old Grammy catagory: best album cover.

They still have that category, but it is now called “Best Recording Package”. It’s given to the Art director. Last years winner was Adam Jones for the “10,000 days” (Tool). “Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package ” was awarded to the art directors for “Stadium Arcadium” (Red Hot Chili Peppers).

They give out a lot of Grammy’s. There is even one for “Best Album Notes” (Ken Barnes over at USA Today’s Idol Chatter used to write album notes and that’s why he is an official Grammy voter).

  • abbysee

    ^^^
How do you get that gig? Are there auditions? :)

  • gabam

I wonder if Kristy already has an opening gig for some big name artist. In an interview she said that she will only have a few days off between the end of the tour until she’s back on the road. She probably meant a radio/TV promotional tour for her CD now that I think about it. She opened for Glenn (sp?) Campbell years ago.

  • elle

This thread is too funny. Poor KFC – I mean, KLC.

    Chicken anyone?

  • Natasha

I like Kristy but the horse does look bored and slightly pissed off.

  • judy

I still can’t believe that KLC, one of the worst, most boring performers, was the only other idol except the two Davids to get a contract from AI. Sorry, I’m still in shock over that one.

  • http://myspace.com/saltwatercures pj

She looks gorgeous. Bless her heart.

ETA: Judy, it just proves once again that she was one of the ringers. Sad but true. :-( They’re even using the same horse back story crap. I don’t think it will work out in her case, but I’m not good at predictions. LOL. I’m not mad at her. She’s just trying to have a career. I’m more mad TPTB.

  • judy

She is a gorgeous girl, no doubt about it. And that is one beautiful horse.

  • cookcricket

    Really? Could this really happen?

    They give out a lot of Grammyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s. There is even one for à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Best Album Notesà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

For a vinyl, this would be totally worth a Grammy!

KLC, I wish you the best.

  • GEEK4VOCAB

I’m sorry but that is ridiculous. It looks like a joke.

I thought the title “15 Minutes of Shame” was humiliating.

She’s very beautiful and her performance on the tour was entertaining, but someone in her camp is making very bad judgement calls.

  • jpfan

It’s cheesy but in the lousy cover art it doesn’t come near the champs in that field: Kat (open crotch) and Blake (wtf?). Those albums actually cost sales IMO. This one “might” move a few units. It’s obvious they’re taking the easy route with her promo but she seems like a tough cookie.

  • MaryS-NJ

Well, yeah, some girls are still horse crazy (says Mom, still cleaning horse sh*t and muck out of my boots and hay out of the trunk of my car from the 4-H fair horse stalls). But my daughter is all about the JoBros and also quite taken with David Archuleta and would never listen to Kristie Lee Cook (although she’d probably like a poster of the model horse to go on her wall shrine and coilection of Breyer horse).

Oh, hi everybody! It’s spoiler season – yay! Happy Idoling.

  • JoopShoop2

From rumors I have heard; that is her very personal horse, she had more then one, that one she sold on the show was her favorite barrel horse. I guess In her spare time she rides horses everyday, so I guess being on top of a horse for an album cover makes sense! She lives in the country so a lazy afternoon on a horse? I think it inviting, kind of like a great lifestyle to have.
GEEK: 15 MOS song is only humiliating if you make it so. Seems you just look for the worst in life, am I right?
JOLENE: David Archuleta’s CD has the same amount of time put into it, on tour only. Does that mean he does not care. He released the same time. I guess his label did the same thing as Kristy Cooks?

DOUBLE STANDARD PEOPLE: Just like the Jews in Germany, people need someone to rag on or destroy, cause it makes them feel better about themselves, when really they hate themselves, or they are bored and need excitement.

If Kristy was your sister or family would you jump on the band wagon and try to hurt her too, or would you defend her. Think before you are so petty and mean. I guess most of those who find a scapegoat for all THEIR own troubles are immature for sure.

  • grrrr

Just like the Jews in Germany

    Godwin’s Law

*snicker* Just wanted to get that in before the previous post disappears.

  • ptslittlecomment

JoopShoop2: Archie and KLC each released a single on the same day, not a CD. Archie is still working on his CD. (As is David Cook) Kristy did hers in four days.
