Check out the two-part Kris Allen interview with Lyndsay Parker of Yahoo music. In Part 1, they discuss Kris’s remarkable Idol run and dark horse win, and in Part 2, it’s all about the music.

Kris lets a song spoiler out of the bag–he’ll be performing The Beatles’ “Hey Jude”, with the rest of the Idols joining in on the chorus… He wanted to do it on the show, but couldn’t get it cleared. He wanted to do “Falling Slowly” but…for reasons he doesn’t go into, he couldn’t.

He says his album–it’ll have a pop/rock feel–will be “kinda what I did on the show, but with more of an edge to it.” He wants to make good, heartfelt music. He’s going to have a strong hand in the songwriting–he says he does not want to sing anything he doesn’t feel.

This is a really good interview, with Kris being his usual sweet, adorable self. Lots of talk about him and Adam (“we are Kradam”) and the whole “social issue” stuff that swirled around them. But also lots of talk about his music, which is always nice. Since that really should be the focus of these interviews…

LOVE his face when he talks about how excited he is to be doing “Hey Jude on tour” — and why he didn’t do it during Rock Week.

These extended interviews Lyndsey did with Adam and Kris (and David Cook) are really fun to watch. Supposedly she also did interviews with the rest of the AI8 Top 10?

  • Lexus

LOVE his face when he talks about how excited he is to be doing à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Hey Jude on tourà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬

Kris is a big Beatles fan so Hey Jude doesn’t surprise me at all. It certainly makes up for having to get through No Boundaries night after night.

  • elephant1212

    LOVE HIM

  • Winks8

I also loved his face when Lindsey said something about how it was funny that neither he nor Adam are available for women (Kris Married, and Adam Gay) but they are wildly popular with the gals. Was it just me or did Kris blush a little?
He kind of did that same little look that he did when Adam said he “liked the top.” So cute!

  • taks

“Hey Jude” being the closing number is pretty awesome. At least, I’m pretty sure he said it would be the closing number.

Massively disappointed that there will not be millions of “Falling Slowly” videos from tour though. =( Kris, I’m just as sad as you are about that one. I wonder why he couldn’t do it?

Supposedly she also did interviews with the rest of the AI8 Top 10?

Yeah, either in her Adam article or by twitter, she told us that she had interviewed Sarver through Gokey as well. After Kris’ she said she would put up Sarver’s and then keep posting in order of elimination. So watch out for those if you’re so inclined.

  • Pam

After watching that interview all I can say is, Kris, don’t ever change. Don’t ever feel ashamed at being humble. It’s a nice quality to have. :)

  • AC

“We are Kradam” that was the best part. haha. I’m not embarassed to say I totally geeked out at that!

From the sounds of it, it seems like the tour people did not want him to do Falling Slowly? It could possibly be that they wanted him to do his more well-known hits? Although I loved Falling Slowly!

Hey Jude is a really long song so it might be that he really does close with that song since they can all come in at the end? and this would break into Don’t Stop Believing? Omg, now we just need to know what the rest of his set is! hehe

  • girlygirl

It sounded like whoever runs the tour didn’t want Kris to do “Falling Slowly”…maybe it’s too mellow of a song for them? Who knows. Kris seemed very disppointed that he wouldn’t be performing it.

Hopefully Kris will cover “Falling Slowly” on his debut album and/or perform it when he goes out on his own tour.

  • milly93

    Why is he so adorable?

  • adh1018

He is awesome. That is all

  • Ben

his face was so funny when he was talking about Hey Jude :D

  • alxsavage

Awesome song choice for a live concert, Kris has a great taste!

  • rkt

there is another MTV article about Kris working with Joe King from the Fray. There is some information about the recording sessions they did together in VA. Go check it out

  • ravengirl

OK, not a fan of Kris but appreciate him. But Hey Jude? Good Lord, no. And the thought of the Idols doing that nanananana stuff that seems to go on forever, blech!

  • JosieX

At least Hey Jude is better than Come Together (in my mind anyway). I had thought that was such an awful song choice for him.

But this was a pretty good interview, if he’s sick of everyone talking about Adam so much he hides it very well. He is such a cutie. I bet his album will be really good.

  • Eileen99

Yay Kris :-) and Yay KRADAM!

Does anyone understand why “Come Together” got cleared, and last year Brooke could sing “Let it Be”, and Archie sang “Imagine”, yet Kris couldn’t get “Hey Jude” cleared this year? I’m not getting it.

I hope FS is on the album, please!

  • ravengirl

DEFINITELY better than Come Together, JosieX, I will grant you that.

  • Squirrely

This was great! His reaction to the comment about Hey Jude has me wondering if this may be the closing song …hmmm that would nice, but then so would Don’t Stop Believing.

  • unique28v

At least now we know for sure Kris is doing 5 songs, and we know 2 of them! No Boundaries and Hey Jude.

  • LisaE

I saw Paul McCartney in concert in 2001 or 2002 and he performed “Hey Jude.” It was definitely a lighter/sing-a-long moment – a real highlight. However, the average age of the audience was pretty high! I was definitely one of the youngest there! I wonder if the song will get the same response on tour with a much younger crowd?

  • FanGirlIdol

How is it that there are only 19 comments to AI winner Kris Allen’s interview & 339 comments regarding Adam’s new “single”? Karma, baby!

  • isisdagmar

That fist-in-mouth expression when he talked about Hey Jude was so beyond adorable, as was “we are Kradam.” I actually love Hey Jude, though I can see why it’s a love it or hate it kind of song, so I’m excited about that.

  • haruhi

Kris is only doing 5 songs? Shouldn’t he have more songs in line? Well, he is the winner.

On the other hand, I found the remark regarding Katy as “first lady of American Idol” really witty. It made me smile.

  • cookcricket

Okay, my hope, since he’ll have to do NB, is that it’s second. He needs an awesome opening # (I’m going to predict Ain’t No Sunshine, coming up out of the floor on the piano?), then get NB out of the way, btw-please let it acoustic PTB!!! It seems that he’ll be doing at least one other song that he didn’t cover on the show as well.

  • eliza

    FanGirlIdol:

Probably because the release of Adam’s “single” is a huge controversy???? I don’t think it’s as much a Kris vs. Adam issue, if that’s what you are saying…

I’ve noticed that on fan boards, controversial subjects get more response than anything else. A few days ago, I think the subject on this board with the most posts was David Archuleta’s father being arrested in a prostitution sting. Scandal, controversy — people lap that up.

  • weareallinnocent

    Nice guy, nice interview.

I’m disappointed about Falling Slowly. I don’t think TPTB get it at all really, sort of like how concertgoers didn’t hear TWIK from Cook last year even though it was a great fan favorite. Wonder if they go by iTunes sales or something… in which case, maybe they do get it. LOL

  • Anastasia72071

Kris’ main fanbase might be younger, but I’m willing to bet that there will be plenty of middle-aged folks in the audience who *will* know that song and will love it (regardless of whether their main reason for being there is Kris or someone else). Myself, for one. :happy_tb:

  • girlygirl

I also think that a lot of younger fans are familiar with the Beatles. After all, the Beatles have been putting out all kinds of compilations and re-issues the last handful of years.

Do you know how many young people I’ve heard say they love the Beatles? Besides there will be all ages at the tour.

LOL, yup. if kris was to punch a koala bear , THEN maybe his thread would get 100 responses.

RE songs on the tour….NB, Hey Jude, Heartless (guess), ANSunshine (guess) ….and ??? a song he couldnt get cleared…

hmmm. im thinking of all the theme nights and what he said of each performance…..top 3, he KNEW he was doing heartless, so there was no second choice. rock night, he said as soon as he found out the theme, he knew it would be a beatles song (hey jude from this wk)…Rat pack week ( i doubt he would be excited about these options)…Disco (he said disco sucks, so no go)….year you were born (same here, he hated all the options)….im thinking the 5th song will come from Top Downloads Week or maybe Motown (he’s a huge stevie fan)

  • FanGirlIdol

Yes, sorry girlygirl, I’m just being a Bitterbert. I should’ve compared this to the number of responses to Adam’s Yahoo interview instead of the “new single” controversy. Kris was humble & adorable in the interview (although he did mumble a lot in the beginning). He was the AI winner – shouldn’t there be more about him? And this coming from a huge Adam fan! Kinda feel bad for the kid although I know I shouldn’t because he even says that he’s totally fine with it.

  • risalea

Very disappointed that “Falling Slowly” won’t be sung by Kris on tour….seriously, that one is my favorite. But hearing about “Hey Jude” is exciting.

I appreciated Kris’s comments on Christianity…just because he’s a Christian and Adam is not, he doesn’t let he and Adam’s differences affect their friendship. As it should be.

My son made the comment this weekend that he hoped the stardom factor didn’t affect Kris’s faith. I told him I didn’t think there was a chance of that, and this interview just reaffirms it. This is one grounded dude, married to an equally mature young lady and both from strong, faithful families. Good job, Allens and O’Connells!

  • babybelle32

I love the passion that Kris shows for music, that passion will come through in his music, just like it did on the show. I also love the way that he is so patient in these interviews, most people would lose their cool, or just be flip, but he is just so cool about everything. That comes in knowing who you are, and knowing that you don’t have to act like an egotistical jerk in order to be strong and confident.

  • TwigLA

I loved this interview. The two funniest moments: When the interviewer made the comment about Kris and Adam both being heart throbs and neither of them are available. The look on his face and the lightbulb moment. It was as if he never thought about that. Guys just don’t think that way.

THe second was when the producer said he could reveal just one song. His whole actions were as if he was afraid she’d take the permission back. He sheepishly revealed ‘Hey Jude’ by The Beatles. Total glee like he just got the winning gumball in a candy machine.

I’m disappointed he won’t get to do “Falling Slowly’. Maybe that will make it to his first album.

On why ‘Hey Jude’ may have not been cleared for the show. It’s owned by Julian Lennon and is one of the very few things he has of his Dad’s and he had to buy it at auction. (such a sad story) I can see why he may have been reluctant to clear it for AI to use it on the show. It’s a very personal song that was written for him. I can also see why he may agree to let Kris do it now. I’d love to hear more to the story.

Michael Jackson last owned the rights to ‘Come Together’ along with most of The Beatles catalogue and as I understand, he needs the cash.

But back to the interview. Glad to see it’s about the music. Also thanks for the link to the MTV article. It’s all sounding like it’s going to be kick a$% umm AWESOME.

And Kris, you may have tween and teen fans, but you have at least as many, if not exponentially more, adult female and male fans who just happen to love your music. We’re just not the gushy type.

  • girlygirl

Me thinks Lyndsey Parker got JUST a few tweets from people not happy about some of her questions. She’s got a lot of tweets up about the response to the Kris interview. Some people thought she focused too much on Adam, some resented the implication Kris’ fans are mostly tween girls, etc.

She also tweets that she will be posting interviews with the other 8 people in the Top 10 in the coming days — but that these will be shorter ( 5 min)

  • ross

Well, the guy who’s singing it just turned 24, and he’s a huge Beatles fan. So are a lot of younger people. It’ll probably be great. Not the same as if Paul McCartney himself were doing it, of course. Anyhow, I don’t think it’s the only old song being done on this tour, right? I think there are going to be a lot of “classics.”

Really disappointed he’s not singing Falling Slowly. It’s probably my favorite from the season and I think it’s a favorite of a lot of his fans. I think we all assumed he’d be doing it. Kris seemed disappointed, too.

I almost feel like writing someone and complaining about it (no idea who).

  • hellothere

OK, Adam’s had 53 responses in a 7-hour span. The number of comments for any thread that isn’t “controversial” are smaller. Sorry.

He was the AI winner – shouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t there be more about him?

Technically, yes, but he was not the hand-picked winner; therefore, his promotion will be of the bare minimum variety.

Kinda feel bad for the kid although I know I shouldnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t because he even says that heà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s totally fine with it.

I’m a fan of Kris and I don’t feel bad for him at all. He now has a lot of opportunities available to him that he didn’t have before. And, if he puts out the kind of album that he is alluding to, he will be just fine even without 19′s help. But in the meantime, I’m sure he is just fine with them focusing their time and energy on their hand picked winner.

  • drea

I’m pretty sure that whoever can sing whatever on the tour; clearance is not an issue because the concerts are not televised. Jason sang “Crazy” last year on tour, though the show never aired it when he sang it during Hollywood week.

That was a good interview. Kris’ music and talent is amazing, but it sure is fun to just look at him too. And he definitely had the adorable dial turned up to eleven, didn’t he?

  • girlygirl

Another thing to love about all of Kris’ taped interviews is that he totally does NOT have a poker face. I wonder if he will develop one as he gets more used to being interviewed?

  • drea

    Please don’t, Kris.

  • TwigLA

I have to agree with the poster who said ‘Karma!’ in relation to the lack of negative or controversial press for Kris and hence no mass spamming of message boards and internet blogs.

    Kris has good Karma.

  • AC

Yeah, i think clearance for the tour is more if the tour managers want it there or not. For some reason, I’m thinking that that his other new song would be something more new since he seems to think that a lot of his fan base skews younger.

And does anyone think it’s only 2 new songs that he’s doing because he had 2 fingers out when he was talking about some new songs? or am i crazy? hehe.

  • Suzanne

Ià ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢m disappointed about Falling Slowly. I donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t think TPTB get it at all really, sort of like how concertgoers didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t hear TWIK from Cook last year even though it was a great fan favorite.

Oh I don’t know, how about because the Adam thread has been up for several hours and this has been up less than 2? But yes maybe in order to generate more controversy Kris needs to go punch someone in the face or announce he swings both ways. I’m sure his people could make up something to generate more press!

  • ross

At first I was a bit bored by all the Adam questions, but this person is a huge Adam fan and she’s curious about their relationship, so it was understandable. And it’s obvious she was charmed by Kris.

I think my favorite moment was when he was talking about the Fray concert. It was in response to the question about his young girl fans. He wanted to talk about the response of the girls at the concert when he arrived (supposedly, he was mobbed) but he didn’t want to appear to be boasting. It’s funny, with Kris you have to read between the lines a little. Like, when he says he can go around unnoticed, he’s basically being modest, at this point.

    How is it that there are only 19 comments to AI winner Kris Allenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interview & 339 comments regarding Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s new à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“singleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ?

Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

  • http://www.last.fm/user/chachithegreat chachi

Kris needs to go punch someone in the face

Can it be this Lindsey bitch? Please? I have loathed this woman since last year and this interview just confirms it. She is one cat away from being featured on Idletard.

However, Kris was adorable, and once again showed how passionate he is for his music. That’s all that matters to me, so I can pretend someone punched her in the face after this interview and go about my life.

  • rkt

I remember Sir Paul performed “hey Jude” as the last number in the Live 8 London concert in 2005. It’s definitely a closer. I can totally see Kris adding some soul to the song like he did with “yesterday”. The only problem is that the song is too well known and it’s really not that exciting to me anymore, but who knows, Kris may surprise us again.

  • girlygirl

I’m looking forward to seeing how Kris changes “Hey Jude” up to make it his own.

I just hope they don’t cheese it up by having a choir come out for the chorus. BAD IDEA

It’s really controversy that generates discussions. at the end of the day, it’s really the music that matters.

Agreed, this comparison stuff really needs to stop. I thinks it’s fine to note how records sales are doing but who cares about which thread gets the most comments. If Kris was having studio issues I’m sure that would be a hot thread too. Also a lot of the comments are repeating the same thoughts answers and questions. I love Adam, and the only comparison worth talking about IMO is his album sales compared to other idol album sales.

  • mawmo

Love this interview! Love the Kradam talk, the Hey Jude part, the fan girls talk, and a shout out to David Cook! Kris and DC are two amazing Idols!

  • risalea

Oh, I meant to comment on the tween fan remark. He’s got lots of tweens….
tween twenty and thirty, thirty and forty, forty and fifty, fifty and sixty…LOL

  • PattyP

Kris has said he would love to sing with Paul McCartney. McCartney wrote “Hey Jude,” not Lennon … He wrote it for Julian Lennon, after John and Cynthia divorced, because he had been very close to Julian and Cynthia and felt badly for Julian. It was originally written as “Hey Jules,” but he thought Jude was easier to sing, so he changed it.

Many of the McCartney/Lennon songs were not true collaborations; they just agreed to publish as cowriters to keep things easier, but in many cases, only one of them was the writer. (And if you’re a big Beatles fan, it’s pretty easy to figure out which ones are Lennon and which ones are McCartney.)

I think it’s an excellent pick for a concert performance. Everyone can sing “Na na na na-na-na-na” and get into it during “the moment.” It’s a well-known rock anthem, and audiences love to sing along to anthems. Kind of makes me wish I was going to see the Idols when they’re in Dallas.

  • http://www.last.fm/user/chachithegreat chachi

The internet is serious business. No fun can be had when there are wars to be fought. Quick, go comment on that post to increase its size! RALLY THE TROOPS, PEOPLE. DO NOT BE AFRAID TO SHED BLOOD.

I still can’t figure out whether it’s considered more degrading to have old lady fans or tween fans, since these people aren’t allowed to like anything popular and hip, because their mere presence negates any hip in a fifty foot radius.

Anyway, I am so going to this tour now simply for the fact that Kris is doing Hey Jude and for the Don’t Stop Believing performance. Hey Jude is my favorite Beatles song (Let it Be being a very close second), so I am THRILLED. THRILLED. (should I yell about it one more time?) THRILLED.

  • AIaddict

Hey Jude will be awesome to hear from Kris! I love me some Kris and I’m not a teenage girl! Ha!

  • smartcookie

“Hey Jude” reminds me of a 7th grade dance, which… Is kind of scary. But I do love that song, and I love that Kris loves the Beatles. I remember when I hit, oh, 30, and I was in a play with a guy who was about 18, and he knew a lot more about the Beatles than I did, and I thought then, WHAT? It’s happened more over the years than I care to recall. The Beatles seem to be about as timeless as it gets.

I don’t think Motown week was one of the ones where Kris didn’t get his pick — he did “How Sweet It Is to Be loved By You” in the same style James Taylor did it, and he’s said that he loves James Taylor, so I think that was probably something he wanted to do. Or maybe I’m just projecting because *I* love James Taylor and How Sweet It Is was the moment I broke through my “I like Kris because he got no pimp time” phase and catapulted headlong into “I love this guy!”

Wasn’t “Ain’t No Sunshine” Top Downloads Week? I seriously doubt he had something else in mind for that. My guess would be Evil Birthday Week, when he got stuck with All She Wants to Do Is Dance. I wanted “Holding Back the Years,” although maybe that has a similar vibe to ANS and other bluesy-edged songs.

I dunno. We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess. I also think it’s funny that everybody else is all tweeting and spilling their songs right and left, and Kris is playing it by the book. I can’t tell — can I? — I can? — okay, then just one…

  • washpd

Kris did a great job of that songà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’I downloaded it, in factà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬’but it didnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t sell very well, compared to the other songs he did on the show. TWIK is a great selling single. Money talks.

Actually, Falling Slowly was Kris’s highest seller up until Top 3 week, so it sold more than Aint No Sunshine, until he reprised Aint No Sunshine aired in the finale. Also, his performance of Falling Slowly sent the original recording into the Top 20 or 30, I believe, on iTunes, and I don’t think that song had seen the Top 100 since, well, I don’t know if it had ever been there (maybe when it won the Oscar). So, I doubt they turned him down for FS because of it’s failure to sell. I think it would be nice if they would just let him alternate between FS and ANS during the tour, but, I guess they don’t do that.

    How is it that there are only 19 comments to AI winner Kris Allenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interview & 339 comments regarding Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s new à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“singleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ? Karma, baby!

I don’t think that word means what you think it means.

Oh, and I absolutely adored Kris in this interview! Every time I think he can’t say anything better or be more adorable, he goes and says something better and is more adorable! How does he keep doing that? His being downright giddy as he talked about doing Hey Jude was wonderful.

I also loved how he talked about how he didn’t view himself standing up for Adam and being friends with him as being a “rebellious Chritian,” but rather, as being how things were supposed to be. Love that guy.

  • girlygirl

I’m a teenaged girl at heart, but I’ve been informed that doesn’t really count (DRAT)

  • Yss

The interviewer did sound a little bit like an Adam fangirl at the beggining (Although I love that he said “We are Kradam”), but I’m glad that later it was all about the music…Kris was being his adorable and humble self as per usual…Love him…
He seemed dissapointed about not singing “Falling slowly” on tour, How dare TPTB to make Kris dissapointed!!! How dare they I say!
But on the other hand, How cute was he when he said that he was singing “Hey Jude” awwww…People please remember us, the international fans, and post Kradison’s tour video performances on the internet…Millions of thanks in advance!

I thought FS sold very well at the week that he performed it. It got more ratings than ANS.

  • AC

I always see that Kris’ journey was a mix of David Cook and Kelly Clarkson- Cook because of the brother thing like they said… but Kelly because they both made it through in group 2 even though they were “cannon fodder” behind the frontrunner, but came up and became the American Idol!

Also for Hey Jude, a lot of kids do listen to The Beatles, and if not, I’m sure the parents that are bringing them will know =). Anyways, i’m thinking that if he does do Heartless, he can start off acapella and then kick into full band at the midway point since he has to do the long version of the song. Also, since he said he’s going to do the long version, does that mean that he’s doing No Boundaries, the full version?! :unsure_tb:

  • smartcookie

I have to admit, I am disappointed by no “Falling Slowly.” I think some moron at the top must’ve decided it was too slow for the tour. Or maybe they made him decide between that and ANS or something.

Major bummer, however it happened. “Hey Jude” is almost enough to get me to the concert, although lack of “Falling Slowly” and the thought of sitting through Sarver, Scott and Megan is enough to keep me home, I think.

  • lizardino

Kris is adorable, sweet and completely down-to-earth in this interview as usual. It’s really great to see how centered he is, and how he really doesn’t mind not really being the center of attention.

I think one reason he and Adam have such a great relationship is that they have a lot in common while being quite different personalities. Adam = extrovert. Kris = introvert. I remember a great description of the difference between extroverts and introverts being that “introverts think to speak, and extroverts speak to think.” When you watch interviews with Kris and Adam, you really see that in action. Kris processes before he speaks and if he doesn’t have much to say, he just doesn’t say anything. It’s nice, but makes for more mellow interviews. Sometimes with Kris, I can hear the interviewer working hard to pull answers out of him because he just isn’t ever going to babble. Even a bad interviewer could probably get good answers out of Adam (and boy, haven’t there been some BAD interviewers!) because he is ready to talk and obviously has lots of experience speaking in public (plus, outgoing people are easy to get answers out of).

One thing I love about both Kris and Adam is how honest and comfortable they are with themselves and their talent. In an industry full of arrogant and insecure people, it’s really refreshing to see this trait in them both!

  • kbr

Yay Kris! I love “Hey Jude” I wonder if he will change it up and play guitar instead of piano on it? I am contemplating going to the tour this summer because my fav actually won, something I never would have done in the past. Should be fun!

I can’t wait to hear Kris’ album, I really think he has a lot of potential to make something fantastic for his debut. I hope he really does have a lot of input because his musical instincts are so great and the real reason I loved his singing was the way he made me really feel the songs that he sang.

  • Suzanne

Kris is so great. I wish I’d gone to college with him.

I think it’s okay that there aren’t 330 comments on this thread. I mean, are all the comments in the Adam’s single thread about Adam’s singing/music? Kris just isn’t very controversial.

So they’re ending with Hey Jude. Hmmm. Better than Please Don’t Stop the Music.

  • druzilla

    Thanks for posting this, MJ.

I wish they hadn’t talked about Adam so much in Kris’s interview. It’s frustrating. There’s so much more we could find out about Kris or ask about his Idol experience and yet these interviews with the winner are *still* Adam-centric.

While I’m glad he’s doing new songs that weren’t on the show *and* not having to do just 90 second blurbs, I can’t say I have ever liked “Hey Jude.” Its broad appeal is simply baffling to me.

  • cookcricket

I’ve seen it said before that Kris doesn’t have the “it” factor. Well here’s how I see IT… get IT?… oh, I did IT again!!!

Kris is all about the music and that is what IT’s all about in the end, to me (and I’d imagine some others). :)

So Kris has a lot of tween/teen fans. They are the music consumers of tomorrow and they might as well learn now that’s it is all about the music. Then when they buy in the future they’ll know what to look/listen for. If the fact that he’s adorable does this, then IT’s all good!!!

***disclaimer*** I don’t for a moment think Kris only has tween/teen fans. Also, he has enough “it” factor to draw in a lot of fans. Vocal fans or otherwise.

Oh and I like how this interviewer’s friend became a Kris fan after he sang, “Falling Slowly”.

  • smartcookie

    I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t say I have ever liked à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Hey Jude.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Its broad appeal is simply baffling to me.

Well, it *does* take a sad song and make it better.

  • Mtlfan

    Thanks for posting!!

Love how his understanding of the whole Adam thing makes him totally cool with it – he’s such not the guy to fight realities! He just go with the flow and concentrates on his music. That’s so winner!!!

  • Kirsten

Yay, “Hey Jude”. That’s a great concert song.

And, because I love this video: Hey Jude – Beatles and a bunch of random people (love the old dude with the flowers – Rock on, dude! Chick at Paul’s elbow probably needs a restraining order though)

I just hope they donà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t cheese it up by having a choir come out for the chorus. BAD IDEA

Don’t worry, Idol is too cheap to pay for a choir to go on tour.

She is one cat away from being featured on Idletard.

I shouldn’t laugh, but I did. That’s an interesting new metaphor.

    How is it that there are only 19 comments to AI winner Kris Allenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interview & 339 comments regarding Adamà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s new à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“singleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ? Karma, baby!

Yes, because Karma doesn’t have her hands full already delivering smack downs on people like Kim Il Jung, Robert Mugabe and the leaders of Iran. She’s got to take care of a reality show winner who had the audacity to beat the other contestants.

  • ross

    I canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t say I have ever liked à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Hey Jude.à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ Its broad appeal is simply baffling to me.

    Me too.

Here’s a little clip of Kris and Katy after dinner last night

I’m a fan, and I’m a guy and not a tween or teen. I know some people who are in their twenties, who are huge Kris fans. But if Kris is liked by tween and teen girls, it’s one of the best things that could happen to him. They’re the ones who buy a lot of the music, and they really support the bands and singers they like. The popularity of a lof of young bands and artists is often due to girl fans embracing their music and style.

I wish they hadnà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t talked about Adam so much in Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s interview. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s frustrating. Thereà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s so much more we could find out about Kris or ask about his Idol experience and yet these interviews with the winner are *still* Adam-centric.

Yeah, nobody ever asks Adam about Kris for five minutes. It’s partly this interviewer being a huge Adam fan, and partly that Kris is more than willing to talk a lot about Adam. Adam really doesn’t talk a lot about Kris when he’s asked. He gives nice but short answers that don’t seem to invite the interviewer to persue the subject.

  • CindyM

Loved this interview, love Kris. Great, great guy. Right now as an Adam fan, I’d love a non-controversial article with few posts. Can’t wait for the tour, and I think Hey Jude would be a great tour song.

The competition is over, time to stop with all the comparison over posts, coverage and the like. Two great guys trying to make great music who are great friends. I’ll support them both.

  • http://www.last.fm/user/RemusL/ RemusL

At least Hey Jude is better than Come Together (in my mind anyway). I had thought that was such an awful song choice for him.

Kris did an amazing acoustic version of “Come Together” at the Arkansas FOX tv station when he went back for his home visit. Did you get a chance to see that?

  • ross

I loved the version of Come Together he did on the show. The iTunes version is great, too.

  • cookcricket

And, because I love this video: Hey Jude – Beatles and a bunch of random people (love the old dude with the flowers – Rock on, dude!)

And That’s what it’s all about!!! :) OMG that was awesome! I was lovin’ the kid in horned-rimmed glasses and suit too. Was it me or did Ringo look almost as if he popped out of Sgt. Pepper’s?…

I’ve always been very intrigued by John Lennon, but Kris is definitely making me appreciate Paul a great deal! I’ve always loved “Hey Jude” anyway.

  • http://randomizeme.wordpress.com arca

Another thing to love about all of Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ taped interviews is that he totally does NOT have a poker face.

yeah, i remember kris making this really funny face in one of the Adam/Kris finale interviews – it’s the one where Adam gets asked about his blond hair, and you can totally see kris reacting with a WTF look and staring real hard at Adam’s hair.

I still canà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢t figure out whether ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s considered more degrading to have old lady fans or tween fans

Oh, judging by the difference between Claymates and JoBro’s fans, it’s definitely more degrading to have old lady fans ;-) No offense to old ladies (I mean I will be part of that population some day too).

  • jonoave

Best interview so far is still the Idolatry interview with Slezak. You can tell he was comfortable there, and they spend a lot of time discussing bout his performances throughout the season, the finalists, his plans etc.

THIS interview had – an attempting-to-be-professional Adam fan trying to rile up Kris, how he SUPPOSEDLY won Idol, questioning (repeatedly) his humility, talking bout Adam/Kradam (a lot) and being a Christian etc. All 7 minutes plus into the first interview and she has not asked a SINGLE question about music or mention any of his performances which you know, could be among the reasons why he won idol. You would think that as an avid AI follower, she could have come up with more interesting and relevant questions rather than rehash stale questions asked a gazillion times by none-the-wiser news journalists/columnists.

No wonder she left a disclaimer that the second video clip will be more about the music. The only thing worth watching if you’re a Kris fan who’s mostly seen every interview out there is midway through the second clip when Kris revealed his song choice. Very adorable….

  • moody

Some people thought she focused too much on Adam, some resented the implication Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ fans are mostly tween girls, etc.

I can understand why people were unhappy with her for both of those reasons. I’ve never heard of her before but she’s pretty annoying and definitely let her bias show. Luckily Kris handled it in his usual gracious way. I love that he’s low-key, humble and passionate about his music. He’s my definition of a package artist.

  • sunny2

Kris is so sweet when he talks about his wife calling her the “first lady of American Idol”. I love it!!! I can’t wait to see the concert.

  • taran33

I’m happy Kris is singing “Hey Jude” and I’m not that much of a Beetle fan. I have to say though that Kris’ “Come Together” is one of my favorite iTune purchases! Yes the interviewer was partial and if it would have seemed to bother Kris I admit it probably would have pissed me off. But, obviously it didn’t so it doesn’t me either…ha!

  • SarahP

aarrrggghhhhh!!!! why was the word “humble” being repeated by the interviewer like a billion times??? and “congratulations on winning and staying so humble”!!!!! i know i know, she makes it sound as if its a good thing but i just cant stand the whole cheesiness of the word. and saying to someone he or she is humble is just soooo unappealing and hypocritical. :wallbash_tb:

and i think its hard on kris fans that a lot of these interviews are “adam centric” but since kris doesnt mind flying below the radar, i think we kris fans should just wait for his album and in the meantime, revel in Falling Slowly, ANS and Heartless (sigh)

anyway, most of the questions in this interview is pretty old, from the whole humility thing, to how did you try out, to even the kradam questions. the only thing i liked it how kris revealed he’s doing hey jude :clap_tb:

and thanks for the shout out to DC :thumbup_tb:

  • Truthiness

No “Falling Slowly,” from Kris and no “Ring of Fire,” from Adam? Epic fail! Well at least it makes me slightly more reconciled to missing the tour.

But cool about “Hey Jude,” for him. Great matchup with Kris and if it’s the sing-out song of the night, as he seems to intimate, that is a really good choice. Everyone can sing along, sway, all the other contestants come out at the end, coolness.

Oh and shallow note, Kris was looking pretty hot in this. I approve of the black colour and tighter fit.

  • cookcricket

and thanks for the shout out to DC :thumbup_tb:

I know right? And remember she also said DC was annoyingly (is that the word?) humble. So it’s all good. I love both of them!

You’re right though, she could have done some research before this interview to find out what Kris’s fans already knew about him.

  • girlygirl

When does Kris ever NOT look hot. I mean, seriously…

Anyway…a miracle…yes, let me repeat, a freakin’ MIRACLE has happened ladies and gentlemen…someone has FINALLY updated Kris’ official website!

    Took them freakin’ long enough!

It still doesn’t have all the media and other info on there (no mention of him being nominated for Teen Choice Awards, for instance)…but it’s a start!

  • AC

I’ve been somewhat complaining about this but they finally updated Kris’s website! (with the yahoo interview) but it still basically sucks since they totally ignored his birthday!

Yeah, after Slezak mentioned that Kris has no poker face, I keep looking at his reactions because you know everything is genuine.

  • Ben

  • ShariG

She is kind of an ass isn’t she? To me it is perfect for a guy like Kris that Adam is taking some of the spotlight. Kris just wants to make music. He isn’t after the attention and the glory. He has said repeatedly it is about the music and having the opportunity to make a living doing what he loves to do. Adam said he entered AI for the attention. Kris said he entered it for the chance to make music. Both statements are consistent with their personalities. Adam is showy and needs to be for his kind of Glamrock style. He has to be a bit in your face and over the top. Kris can just be laid back and go about his business.

I do agree that Kris brought the “heart back into American Idol”. He is the smaller town guy, not professional, with a lot of talent, that is undiscovered talent. I actually love that about him.

Freudian slip by this woman, two winners??? I think it is hard for interviewers to get Kris to say something wrong because he is just being honest. He doesn’t try to put on any act. Smart guy. I do have to agree with her that it was a very diverse season in terms of style of the top 5. That was cool. Beyond the top 5 though there were some real losers in the top 10.

  • ShariG

Teen girls and moms are the ones who watch the show. I started watching with my teen girl 8 seasons ago. She doesn’t watch so much any more and I am still hooked.

Kind of funny her observation that both Kris and Adam were heart throbs and both are off limits.

I hope that his album comes out before Thanksgiving. That would be great and I agree that Cookie changed the game so that the Idol winners are involved in the writing process. For Kris it would be really important.

Is it just me or did she seem to get friendlier towards Kris as the interview went on?

  • cookcricket

Hi Shari, talk tomorrow? check all emails. :)

I think Kris won over the interviewer!

    eta: edited for grammar.

I like Kris’s unofficial website a lot better than his official one. I don’t look at the the official one very much. Sometimes I think they should just get the fans who make the really great fan sites to work on the official sites. It would be a lot better.

  • isisdagmar

Shari, to be fair, I think that both Kris and Adam just want to make music. Adam’s “attention” comment wasn’t about “I just want everyone to stare at me and fawn over me” or something like that–he has repeatedly said that Idol was a platform for him to get noticed in the industry so that he could pursue music successfully, since he had been in the music business for almost ten years. Clearly, Kris wanted that too, and has said that himself many times. He wouldn’t have gone on Idol if he wasn’t looking for the same thing.

No one goes on Idol unless they are looking for that attention, for that avenue through which they can hopefully get the exposure they need for a successful music career. Kris and Adam both wanted that attention. Adam is more comfortable in the spotlight and possibly enjoys it more than Kris does, but they are both dedicated to their music and to being able to do what they love and make a living at it–which, again, they have both said many times. Adam and Kris are different as artists, and it’s awesome that they can be so different as artists while both being so compelling, but they are both devoted to music.

Also: I know this has been said ad nauseam, but Kris’s facial expressions are seriously priceless. And Hey Jude is so perfect for him, though I get why some don’t like it.

  • Ben

    Anywayà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦a miracleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦yes, let me repeat, a freakinà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ MIRACLE has happened ladies and gentlemenà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦someone has FINALLY updated Krisà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ official website!

    how ironic it is!

  • girlygirl

Sometimes I feel that some of the people who end up on Idol are simply after the fame and attention. That being a singer or a musician is really secondary.

I don’t get that at all from either Kris or Adam. They are in it simply for the chance to have a career in the music business. Adam has said that no one gets “discovered” anymore, and in a way he’s right. Musicians have had to come up with different ways to promote themselves in recent years — whether it’s constantly touring to try and build up a fan base or setting up personal webpages and putting up links to their music or facebook or myspace. American Idol is another way of putting yourself out there and hoping something comes of it.

Adam seems to like the media attention more than Kris, and he has the bigger personality (at least outwardly — who knows what they are like when they are simply around friends and family). But he still is focused squarely on the goal of being a musician. Same as Kris. Different outward personalities, different styles — same goal.

  • isisdagmar

Girlygirl: you said it a lot better than I did. :)

You really do get the sense of a deep love of music from these two guys, and it’s very infectious.

  • SarahP

When does Kris ever NOT look hot. I mean, seriouslyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ ¦

hehe….and has anyone noticed how small and cute and elvish his ears look?

Is it just me or did she seem to get friendlier towards Kris as the interview went on?

yeah i think she did get friendlier and sensibly focussed more on his music! but i think for someone who was that biased against kris, she was pretty ok (apart from the whole humble thing).

  • AC

I think Kris won over the interviewer!

He did! Hehe.. I can’t remember exactly who it was now but there was another interviewer who said that exact thing too. I think people in the media are human too so they end up having favorites and get caught up in the AI experience, but afterwards, they start to think (a little) more clearly.

Also, I do believe Kris when he says he doesn’t mind the attention that Adam gets. I think he’s glad stuff for him is more concentrated on the music and he doesn’t seem to be doing this for the celebrity aspect. I do get a feeling from other contestants that this could be a stepping stone for something other than a music career but not for Kris (but that’s also because I don’t think he’ll be able to act/ hide his emotions. hehe)

  • http://www.last.fm/user/RemusL/ RemusL

“We are Kradam…” and resistance is futile. :laugh_tb:

What a great interview. Kris is the ultimate zen-master… (chill-meister?)

Well, every Idol blogger/writer has certain biases. For Slezak, it’s Allison, for Rushfield, it’s Carly. I’m sure Kris was perfectly aware that Lyndsey Parker is a huge Adam fan, yet I get the feeling she came out of this interview smitten with Kris as well. Yeah, she questioned his humility (in a humorous way, I thought) but came to the firm conclusion that he was the real deal.

For the Kris-only fans who insist on keeping count, his interview was significantly longer than Adam’s, plus most of the first half of Adam’s interview could be consider rehashed stale questions as well. Let’s face it, for dedicated fans, if one can glean a nugget or two of completely new information from an interview, that should be considered a good thing. For more casual fans and the rest of the public, much of the material covered here will not be that familiar to them. And I just love to hear Kris talk in relaxed, lengthy segments without concern for time constraints. His warm personality and good humour come shining through.

  • jonoave

Lol, I’m probably not a big fan of Adam, but I don’t certainly keep count. I didn’t watch Adam’s interview, so I have no idea how short/long the interview was. Just that basing it on this interview alone, I found it extremely boring, and the only parts worth watching was the 2nd clip.

Maybe it’s because I have a bias against her. If it was any other interview, Regis/Kelly etc, I would’t probably have mind as those are like less than 10 minutes, it’s just directly after the finale, and those ppl probably don’t follow AI enough and just ask scripted questions. But for this interview, she has almost 20 minutes of interview time, is supposed to be an avid AI follower, and it’s almost a month after the finale! I don’t expect Slezak-level interview, but at least something substantially better than the casual TV interview. Yet she spend 7 minutes or 1/3rd of the time going through things which has been rehashed countless times over the month (Adam, confidence, winning AI, Christian etc.)

In fact, other than the Slezak interview, I’ve really liked the Jay Leno one and to an extent Jimmy Fallon as they asked out-of-the-box and chatted casually on off-topic things with Kris.

Though I know at this stage now that the media circuit is over, it’ll be pretty hard to see Kris stuff as often and it was nice to see Kris talking for about 20 minutes.

RemusL, I don’t think so, I wouldn’t have clicked on that one. My criticism of it is not about Kris at all, I just have a very strong aversion to the song. The first time I heard it I was just a kid, and the lyrics and ominous tone just seriously creeped me out. I still have that reaction to it. Wouldn’t matter who sang it, I hate that song. Especially for Kris, because I think of him as being so positive and all about good things, and to hear that awful song coming out of his mouth was not good. I like his other songs though, and I think he is so adorable.

Interesting. I’ve never felt this song was negative or ominous at all. There have been many discussions and analyses of the meanings of Beatles’ songs, including this one. Apparently, “Come Together” was written by John Lennon to for Timothy Leary to use on his prospective political campaign for governor (which never happened because Leary was subsequently jailed for marijuana possession). Others have interpreted the song to be about each member of the Beatles.

Rolling Stone also ranks the song #202 on their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. I have a feeling that Kris, being an avid fan of Paul McCartney and the Beatles, would have a pretty good grasp of the meanings behind their songs. I doubt he’d sing something if he were uncomfortable with its subject matter.

  • Kirsten

On why à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‹Hey Judeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢ may have not been cleared for the show. Ità ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s owned by Julian Lennon and is one of the very few things he has of his Dadà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s and he had to buy it at auction. (such a sad story) I can see why he may have been reluctant to clear it for AI to use it on the show.

Julian doesn’t own the copyright for “Hey Jude”. It’s owned by Sony/ATV like the rest of the Northern Songs catalog (Lennon and McCartney ended up losing control Northern Songs and that’s why they don’t own most of their catalog). Just do a ACE Title Search on “Come Together” and “Hey Jude” and you’ll see that they are both administered by SONY/ATV TUNES LLC/BEATLES.

What Julian purchased at auction was the recording notes for the song. The song was written by Paul McCartney for Julian to console him after his Dad left his Mom. It’s not one of the few things that Julian has of his Dad. It is true that at the same auction, Julian did buy some other items that did belong to his Dad because his Dad did leave him very few things.

It is a little odd that Sony/ATV would clear one and not the other. I thought Nigel said they cleared their entire catalog. Oh well, Kris won anyway without “Hey Jude” and now he gets to sing it on tour without having to repeat a show song, so it’s all good.

  • 77amy77

she is the one who wrote the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ American got it wrongà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ article on Yahoo after the finale result ( and it got like 37k comments). So no wonder she was that bias.

I watched the first part on the Yahoo website (before going to an embedded version elsewhere for Pt2), and the link to that post was right next to the video. I tried to ignore it but it definitely did make it a little harder to be objective about the interviewer.

What bothers me about the woman is not that she wished Adam had won. But that she’s been so patronising about Kris in subsequent articles, saying how she feels sorry for him because the world (including Kris) knows Adam should have won. That really upsets me.

That said, I was expecting it to be worse. She asked some repetitive questions, but eventually we got to the music. And it was worth it just for Kris’s reaction to revealing his tour song, and to the ‘off limits’ comments about him and Adam.

I don’t really care whether she’s biased or not. Every interviewer has biases. But I don’t think she’s any good with either the people she likes or dislikes. I think she’s just a bad interviewer. I said it before somewhere else — she makes it all about herself, instead of trying to highlight or illuminate the person she’s talking to.

Slezak may be biased, too (of course he is) but he still manages very credible interviews with both the people he’s fanboyish about (e.g. Alison) and the ones he’s not (e.g. Matt). I have a clearer idea of who the person is after the interview than before. That is absolutely not true with this chick’s interviews. I do have a fair idea of who SHE is, though.

My conclusions, based on Adam’s and Kris’s interviews: She thinks she’s too cool for AI, likes rock and sneers at pop, thinks of herself as some high-falutin’ arbiter of taste and artistry, and in general, wants us all to know she considers herself superior to the hoi polloi who watch American Idol. She seems to want her picture on the internet next to these guys more than she wants to know who they really are.

That’s her opinion. Kris was Lindsey’s 3rd favorite.

Yup. All blogs, interviewer, etc are biased. Some just show their biases more than others. She’s paid to show hers, just like Michael Slesak is.

Very, very, very true. Slezak is a GREAT interviewer, and he doesn’t rehash the same questions.

I have no problem with her having her own opinion at all, of course not. But she projects her opinion as fact implying we all, Kris included, know Adam should have won. She’s allowed to be biased, and the interview wasn’t as bad in that respect as I was expecting. She clearly likes Kris well enough. But her finale and post-finale blogs were far worse than just biased.

Kris is such a sweetheart. I can’t wait to see him (Adam & Allison) in concert. He will be wonderful, I know. From the sound of this interview, he hasn’t changed a bit. And that’s a good thing …

  • Mary102

At least now we know for sure Kris is doing 5 songs, and we know 2 of them! No Boundaries and Hey Jude.

Yeah, I was waiting to hear about Kris’s songs! I bet he’ll do Heartless too (roughly the equivalent of Adam’s Mad World, which he’s doing), and then maybe the other songs will be new.

I love Hey, Jude, and think that’s a great choice! I think the Idol’s usually do a few “group” numbers toward the end. So maybe Hey, Jude will be the encore, and will start with Kris, then have everyone else come out, and segue into the group number finale.

I can see some of the Top 10 having some great riffing moments on the “na-na-na” part of Hey, Jude (riff-master Matt, for one :wink_wp:)

I’m guessing he’s probably only doing one other new song. I would think we’re getting NB (though I wish he could do FS instead), Heartless, Ain’t No Sunshine, Hey Jude and one more. We know the other new one was something he couldn’t get cleared on the show either, so I’m really interested to see what it is – and which week he would have sung it.

Hmmmm…all the Adam questions don’t really bother me. (yes, I’m a Kris fan) I don’t think she treated Kris badly at all. As a fan, it DOES get annoying hearing basically the same stuff again and again. But honestly, there are questions he’s not allowed to answer…and I doubt he’s the type to reveal a lot about his personal life. People just don’t know that much about him to base good questions on, I think that’s why they ask about Adam. I don’t think Kris minds the questions…he doesn’t seem to. Now, after the album comes out if they are still talking about Adam, that might be a different story.

I know people are curious about him and Katy…but I think he’s purposefully standoffish concerning their relationship. I don’t get the idea there are skeletons in the closet either….and those are the things that people seem to want to know about, sadly enough. They could ask questions about his work after the tsunami, the time he almost died in Morocco, or the tumor, etc…but those things don’t involve drugs, alcohol, brushes with the law, or sex …so I guess they aren’t deemed interesting enough. GOOD news is no news!

So… we will be stuck with him getting questions about Adam (not that I’m not interested in Adam/Kradam, b/c I am!) unless of course, one of the others (Allison , Matt, Danny) steps up to the plate and does something “newsworthy”… then Kris will be asked about them too, LOL!!!

I never heard of her before, but if I’d read that stuff it would upset me too. Here, the thing that actually bothered me most was: she was surprised he was really modest and that it wasn’t some kind of act.

That seems to have been her assumption before meeting him. I thoouight that was kind of weird.

  • ross

    I meant “thought.” Ha.

As I watched this again there were a few things that stood out to me.

One is that he dismissed (kind of) her combined name for Kris and Adam – ‘Adris’, as sounding like a robot.

Next, is that his “First Lady” is there to help him make sure he’s making all the right decisions. I love this!!! Go Katy!!!

Finally, Kris is Kris and doesn’t try to be anyone but himself and even as a fan, this continually amazes me. He knows who he is, that’s for sure.

I hope he is able to make the well respected album he so desires to make. I can’t wait!!!!

as a big kris fan, i dont really want to know about his personal life or about his relationship with katy. i want to know more about the MUSIC, and what influences his music and maybe a little more about the missionary work he did, and also some of kris’s likes and dislikes, which noone asks about.

anyhow, i really cant blame lindsey cos she’s the reason why i discovered mj’s blog (i started reading the yahoo music blog when it appears in the yahoo home page, got bored of it after awhile and looked for alternative blogs) so have to thank lindsey for directing my path here :happy_tb:

  • girlygirl

I’d like to hear more about Kris’ musical influences, what he thinks of BNS now (and whether he may revisit any of those songs on his album or in concert) and how all his missionary work affected him as a person. Unfortunately, I don’t know if Lyndsey Parker did her research on Kris’ background pre-Idol. Although it got a little annoying to hear her keep bringing up Adam and constantly referring to Kris’ humility, I don’t think she was trying to disrespect Kris. Having read some of her other interviews, it seems to me she is more of a fan than an experienced journalist.

Maybe once he goes off on his own away from the whole AI thing we’ll get to learn more about the music. Hopefully, if Kris becomes a successful solo artist, reporters won’t still be asking him mainly about AI and Kradam a few years down the road. I know all the former AI people like Kelly, Carrie and David still get asked about AI a little, but it’s no longer the focus of the reporters.

I was just happy to see any kind of extended interview with Kris. He’s become pretty good at dealing with the reporters — certainly much better than he was when he first made it into the Top 13.

Technically, “we” tried to since a lot of these questions came up in his comcast interview. hehe..

Yeah, it was funny how he brushed off Adris. He knows that it’s all about Kradam- even though Adris would make more sense since Adam likes being on top. haha

she is the one who wrote the à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ American got it wrongà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬ article on Yahoo after the finale result ( and it got like 37k comments). So no wonder she was that bias.

That would explain why I didn’t remember her. I tried to avoid the “OMG Adam wuz robbed!!” articles after the finale.

No matter whose fan she was, I found her overall interview style annoying and somewhat patronizing. I liked hearing more about the music and tour in the second part though. Kris managed to make it a worthwhile interview.

  • auntieaimee

She’s no Slezak, that’s for sure.

SarahP- I can’t find the original Comcast link but here’s the one to one of Kris’s fan site which has the interview there too

Does this chick not see other interviews? Why does she have to rehash all the same crap? Let’s ask some new questions, please.

Maybe “Falling Slowly” will be on his album and that’s why he’s not doing it on tour. (?)

thank youuu!!! now some of the questions i had in mind are answered :)

  • Mtlfan

He knows that all the Adam stuff he’s asked about will fade out with time.
I liked his answer to the Adriss comment! Agree with him that it certainly doesn’t sound as good as Kradam and i think it’s just made up by people wanting Adam on top :p
One of the thing I’ve not seen so far in interview was questions about the album he made in 2007, ‘Brand New Shoes’. That would be interesting to have details on this

  • jill16

I always get the feeling that every interview Kris does, the interviewer wants to pin Kris down in admitting that Adam is the better singer. Yes, I am a die-hard Adam fan, but I love Kris too, not his music so much, but his personality. And I love the both of them together.

On the second half of the interview, at around 3:07, does anyone know what Kris says? I’ve listened to it three times and still can’t make it out.

I remember reading somewhere that the idols are going to join Kris on the chorus of Hey Jude.
