I like Kris and wish him well, but I find his interviews hard to watch. He seems so unenergetic an uninterested. Even his body language suggests he doesn’t want to be there. I feel like for the interviewer it must be like pulling teeth to get much out of him.

Exactly, Mtlfan. I thought the interview was great. Kris is always Kris, and doesn’t try to be anyone he’s not.

Kris should have someone sell those other 400 BNS CD’s (if he has any left) on eBay for him. Could probably make a killing on them, now.

The promo they’re running on VH1 for his album and video is a completely different clip than this – so they did a separate interview with him for the promo, he even has different clothes on for the news segment.

I’ll be honest and say that at times Kris is hard to listen to on interviews (but compared to some past Idol finalists he is uber verbose). But I think he really is improving….I thought these segments were really well done and he sounded good.

I’ve been pretty slow on the uptake, but I truly think that Kris just isn’t easily excited…I don’t think he even has a type B personality….he is so mellow that a type M would be pushing it (hah). And his humor is completely “dry” and, I would imagine, in real life is pretty “biting” at times.

I thought he did a very good job here….I listened to the whole thing and was pleasantly entertained.

I really like watching Kris. He is so deadpan, no matter what the question is. “During the overnight shoot: I got about 3 seconds of sleep.” lol

I think he did great. Kris is what he is. A regular guy that was given an extraordinary opportunity. That comes through loud and clear on his interviews. I love the contrast of the fact that he only sold 600 copies of BNS and his first week of sales he will sell around 100000. To me this is awesome.

I agree that Kris is really improving on his interviews! I thought he did great here. Slezak gets the best interviews from Kris IMO, and then probably Cantiello.

Kris is much better at giving interviews, now. Didn’t really even notice his sense of humor, early on. I find him quite charming. It’s probably not true, but I heard them say Kris’s family voted for Adam and Adam’s family voted for Kris.

One thing I’ve noticed recently is that Kris never lets interviewers get away with patronizing him. He calls them on it, not aggressively, but gently. He shakes them up and gets them to treat him like a real person.

I love Kris being more at ease with the interview process these days. I always heard his dry sense of humor coming through and am glad others are now picking up on it. It was fun this morning watching the LLWD video on my big screen TV. I had it set up on the dvr just in case I missed it, which of course I did not LOL. Fun!

Danielle Fishel is an actress and played Topanga on “Boy meets World”, Kris’s favorite TV show ever, as he has said several times. Now she hosts “The Dish”. Here she is with Kris. She makes a few alterations to his music video! It’s a little lame but I enjoyed it.

Not an issue IMO. They played Morningwood's new video yesterday – The singer walks in on an orgy: girls on girls kissing, guys on guys kissing, girl on guy, and the singer than joins in as part of a threesome.

I liked this interview and Kris just seems very relaxed and comfortable. I think he does much better in face to face interviews. He seems the type who needs to look into someone’s eyes to have a conversation. He needs to connect.

Loved the ‘I felt the pressure from your family’ comment. He’s quick that way.

Not a problem IMO. I thought I posted about Morningwood’s new video on here a minute ago but I don’t see it, posting again. Saw it yesterday or the day before on VH1. In part of the video the singer walks in a room with everybody making out: girl on girl kissing, guy on guy kissing, the singer then joins in a threesome. There’s also a part where the singer and a guy keep slapping each other until her lip bleeds.

This was a really great interview and I liked that Kris wasn’t the #1 video. Coming in at #16 seems far more fitting for a new artist, not powered to the top by aggressive Idol fan voting. He uses the word “organic” quite a bit and that is exactly how it’s moving. Jamie S. seemed really comfortable with Kris and got his humor. I liked that they talked about IDOL and how both Adam and Kris saw it as a means to further their career, but not necessarily looking to win it. Kris was very articulate, very smart about what Idol could do for them.

I think IDOL is finally being embraced for what it is and what it can do for real talent that might not get that break. I think it’s being taken more seriously and has become a credible means for discovering and producing legitimate talent. In my opinion, it’s the bizarre fan behavior that gives IDOL a bad name and can make it into a joke.

Kris came across as a legitimate, talented musician/artist. I like this guy a lot.

Thanks for this too!! That was so lame it was adorkable! I laughed at his laugh when the baby said, “How are you.” Of course babies always make me smile–almost as much as Kris!!

I think Kris is getting better at interviews…but that mumbling makes me very happy I listen to him with my headphones and that I can rewind.

I agree with the person that says that Kris has a dry sense of humor that is probably really great in ‘real life.’ I think it’s even on display in these interviews (“you were for Adam…you bastard!), so it must be even better without the cameras.

Oh and most importanly, 16 on the countdown, yay! Not a huge fan of the video, but I’m a fan of Kris doing well.

I’m sure he did. Kris wouldn’t swear like that. Probably was too many years of South Park that made me remember it as bastard. Of course I can’t be bothered to listen to it again and the actual point was that Kris isn’t without a sense of humor that has at least some bite.

Clearly, the under-the-breath “jerk” was a joke and they both knew it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they even rehearsed it that way. That’s the kind of cheeky atmosphere they were going for.

Kris is adorable, and I’m sorry for continuing to use the same word, but it’s just THE word when it comes to Kris. And Katy. And the two of them together. I think my husband and I were on the same kind of wavelength when we were newlyweds and people kept telling us we were too sweet and going to rot their teeth just from looking at us. Oh well. Maybe that’s why I empathize with the two of them.

But, anyway, the more I get to know Kris (as he relaxes and shows more of the real him) the more of a sweetheart I think he is. Look! A new word that isn’t adorable! Okay, so if you look up “sweetheart” in the dictionary, does it have Kris Allen’s face next to the listing?

I don’t know how anyone can be cuter than cute, but Kris is. Always a delight in interviews and yes, his is very quick witted, has a great sense of humor.

I think that’s one reason that he doesn’t really stress out / care about all the “negative stuff” concerning idol, press, buzz, first week sale, …whatever. He can just come home to his family and be happy.

I love all these videos! I just got to watch the VH1, Christmas traditions, and the Dish vids. I agree that Kris and Katy are the most adorable couple, it’s great getting to see them together. She brings out a certain spark in him I think.
We were at a college football game today and my daughter, out of the blue, said, “I wish Kris Allen’s band played at all the halftime shows, then I would want to come to ALL the games!” Ha ha, I guess Kris can count on 2 generations of fans in our family, at least!

Just curious, I was surprised when Kris said he wouldn’t get any money from his CD. I vaguely remember Kris saying that a song of his on iTunes that was downloaded would get him 9 cents? Anyone know what percentage of sales he gets as the actual recording artist?

He didn’t say he wouldn’t make any money from his new CD. He just said that, with his first, self-published CD, he got to keep ALL the money from any sales.

@MusicAlltheTime: Right, I know he’s going to make money off this CD, but I was just curious as to how the money from sales is broken down. Like, I am sure a percentage goes to songwriters and producers, another percentage to Jive, etc. Just kinda wondering how these artists get their fair share of the money.

I have been listening to Kris Allen album ever since I got back and I’m so happy with the entire album! Thanks goodness my husband seems to like it too as he didn’t have any problem with me listening to the album over and over again.. Really really really love so many of the songs esp. Bring it Back, Red guitar, BWCU, Alright With Me and I Need to Know. Actually, Lifetime is the only one that I haven’t gotten into it as much but everything else (even Heartless) I love!

I hope this album will sell well as it deserves a good listening. It had been a while since I like an album this much. Most albums I only like a few songs (if I’m lucky) but this one I can’t even pick a favorite since I love almost all of them! Thank you Kris!

First I love all of Kris’s interviews and this is no exception. I got to see the VH1 news clip (“Forced Makeout’), the video (twice) and this interview this morning all in a period of about 2 hours. Great exposure on a Saturday morning.

Second, what the heck are they recording??? I’m so curious. Nothing like one of those Arkansas boys leaving us to wonder….

I never get that impression from him. If anything, I get the sense he’s really paying close attention to whatever the interviewer is saying. And because he is respectful of the other person, he will never just take over the conversation; he always waits for the interviewer to ask the questions. He’s also a very laid back guy with a dry sense of humour so perhaps that attitude comes across for some as not being engaged in the interviews.

Didn’t really even notice his sense of humor, early on.

LLWD was #40 on the HAC version of AT40 (I read this on another site). AT40 is always a couple of weeks behind, but I have no idea why.

No, I have the Mediabase charts – I’m talking Ryan’s radio show, AT40. Last week, LLWD was on his show as the “breakout” song, and Ryan mentioned LLWD was soon to be on AT40. Thought it might have been this week, but maybe next week. As someone mentioned, they’re a little behind.

I heard the Billy Bush countdown on the radio this morning and LLWD was #21 on that.

If not, then maybe we’ll see an add on Tuesday. I’m just excited that there are two XM stations playing LLWD. I hope XM 20 on 20 will add LLWD soon.

4. a tribute to MJ, only if Cale’s tweet isn’t just random things put together

6. another version of “Heartless” (JK, I think I’m done with that song, although when I forget the existence of Kris’ acoustic version I start liking the new one. Now, if he records the mashup with “gangster’s paradise” I’m all for it).

yes that makes sense too. I remember in the latest series of interview with Jim, he talks about recording something. When i heard that (and it should be it i guess) I didn’t know it was going to be that soon!

I’m sure this has been posted but was just reading the weekend chart report at HDD and they are still predicting Kris to sell approx 85-90 thousand albums, which according to their prediction puts him at 8th right behind Carrie. Those numbers are pretty good for a new artist, unfortunately we hold Idols to higher standard for some reason I don’t quite get, which is a shame. Fortunately for Kris the holiday shopping season is just starting so his sales numbers will hopefully stay steady. Good for Kris.

Kris was in the studio recording:
1. an acoustic version of one song or the whole album (the presence of Cale doesn’t exclude the possibility of that, but if the whole band was there, we won’t have anything acoustic)

Why can’t the whole band play acoustic? Bands often do.

2. the Mat Kearney song, ( maybe I should start calling it ‘Top of the World’ )

Possible. That would be good.

3. a song from BNS

I kind of hope not. BNS is nice, but time to move ahead, not backward.

4. a tribute to MJ, only if Cale’s tweet isn’t just random things put together

5. ‘Let it Rain’  as the boot song for season 9

Not only have people decided this is the boot song for season 9, but now he needs to record a special version of the boot song? No.

6. another version of ‘Heartless’  (JK, I think I’m done with that song, although when I forget the existence of Kris’ acoustic version I start liking the new one. Now, if he records the mashup with ‘gangster’s paradise’  I’m all for it).

Yeah! I’m all for that mashup! And anything else cool he comes up with.
Including another version of Heartless (I’m not sick of it at all, yet.)

Anyhow…I have no idea what they’re in the studio for, but I’d like to think it’s the EP Kris was talking about.

Oh, that’s exciting, Kris back in the studio. Maybe they are having him record a song to be the season 9 boot song this year? Didn’t they have Carrie do that last year? That would be cool.

Here’s a review that has some good things to say about the album…I’ll take the good and ignore the not-so-good:

On Kris Allen’s self-titled debut album, the ‘American Idol’  presents a collection of pop-rock tunes that are cool and simple ‘” a reflection of what we saw from the married 24-year-old on the eighth season of ‘Idol.’ 

Allen, known for his boy-next-door charm, co-wrote nine of the 13 tracks and collaborated with Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Carrie Underwood), Toby Gad (Milli Vanilli, Jordin Sparks) and Irish rockers The Script, among others.

While the CD is a somewhat enjoyable one, it is also average ‘” much like Allen himself. Songs like the heartfelt ‘Bring It Back’  and the soaring ‘The Truth’  could make Allen sound extraordinary ‘” too bad he doesn’t have enough of them.

I’m not very excited about him recording a boot song. (I have to be the only person who never, ever hears the boot song, on the show. Maybe I’m preoccupied with what I’m looking at, or something.)

We are not sure, we are just speculating. The lyrics of LIR kind of fit the situation. It’s probably lame speculating without any facts but that’s what we do most of the times. It’s fun , I guess, maybe not, I don’t know.

So, usually an EP comes before the actual album as an introduction, but that’s not the case with Kris so what are we supposed to expect? Ahhhh, Kris. An EP could iclude new songs or different versions of already released songs or both, right?
From the few info we have, I think it’s a last minute thing so I don’t expect more than one song. I will keep my expectations low in order not to be dissapointed if it’s not sth so big or in order to get really excited in case Kris has a big surprise for us.

We might get new info about that if not today maybe tomorrow. He will be on the red carpet, I guess, so I hope someone who follows him on twitter will ask him about that. I vote for ‘no glasses’. As much as I love him with them on I expect him to wear contact-lenses tonight. We have already seen him wearing a gray suit during rat pack week and he looked good in it.

I think that’s the main reason they put them together as presenters, to avoid big height differences

Kris once commented in an interview that he couldn’t see too well when he was on stage – made me wonder if he doesn’t really wear contacts, especially since there are quite a few glasses pictures floating out there. We’ll see – either way he’ll look good. I’m just trying to find something to speculate about that we’ll actually get settled soon enough.

That makes perfect sense! I’ve been wondering what Christmas songs Kris would do. I can’t wait for that because Christmas is my favorite time of the year. And those who were downing it because of the stress, my family decided to forego Christmas gifts this year and just have a huge celebration with lots of food and fun. Of course, my KIDS won’t let me by with that, but things will be simpler without having to buy so much.

So, what songs would you like to hear Kris sing? Since he has done “O Holy Night” in the past, I’m thinking he might sing that one. I would love to hear him do “Little Drummer Boy” – JUST KIDDING!!! haha

I think it’s too late to be recording a Christmas song. Christmas music is already out. IDK, I might be wrong, but they wouldn’t have much time to get it out to the public or advertise it.

SarahP, he’ll be doing Christmas performances soon, so there will be Christmas songs.

Rat Pack week was nice…real nice!

Well, my Krispeeps, it’s been fun. I missed church this morning because I got a tetanus shot and ended up with flu-like symptoms, so I’ve been enjoying waaaayyy too much time at MJ’s lately. Going to eat lunch…hope to “see” some of you tonight!

One thing I’ve noticed recently is that Kris never lets interviewers get away with patronizing him. He calls them on it, not aggressively, but gently. He shakes them up and gets them to treat him like a real person.

Yeah, Kris has a dry sense of humor knows how to make an artistic use of snark.

It’s never mean-spirited but lets them know he’s aware of how the media behave. I agree that he gets their attention and I think their respect.

I love that Kris is going to be on AMA or any other live TV and all that, but I’ve never been this invested in an idol before and seriously he is giving me a heartburn, heart attack and anxiety all rolled into one.

I just don’t want to see him trip / forget a line or whatever that make him a target for negative press the next day.
Luckyly I’m in the West Coast, so I’ll be on my computer just to “read” how he is doing first before seeing it.

I really have no idea what he’s recording. I don’t think it’s another version of “Let It Rain” as the boot song for SYTYCD or the next season of AI (why would he need to re-record it?).

It’s definitely not a bonus track for any of the albums, since the album has been released already.

It could be for another project he just got, or he was just at the studio impromptu and decided to record something?
