Damn. Kris Allen updates his fans in a blog post on his official site. Despite the surgery he underwent after his serious car accident in January, the American Idol season 8 winner’s badly broken wrist did not heal properly.
Further surgery will only correct his issues to a point. Movement in his wrist will never be back 100%. The accident was NOT his fault. It’s a real lesson in how little control we have in the universe. At least he’s alive and mostly intact. Like he says in his post, he has so much to look forward to, including impending fatherhood.
A Message To The Most Incredible Fans
You may remember I got in a serious accident on January 1st that left me with a broken wrist. A badly broken wrist. I had surgery a couple days later to help my wrist heal over the next months and the surgery went well. But there was always a good chance that it wouldn’t heal properly because of how bad the break was. Well…that chance has come. My wrist has not healed like it should and I am going to need another surgery. My surgery will leave me with limited movement for the rest of my life but will take away the pain and give me most of my strength back. For those of you who are getting worried right about now…don’t. I will be fine. After everything is healed I will be able to play guitar. I will be able to play piano. I will be able to throw a baseball with my kid. I will be able to do the things that I love to do. Just not a proper push-up.
In every thing that happens in life I know there is a lesson somewhere to be learned and I’ve been trying to search for this one. The only thing that keeps coming to mind (and may seem trivial to some) is DO NOT GET ON YOUR PHONE AND DRIVE! This is an issue I’ve had to get better at myself. You may not hurt yourself but you could end up hurting someone else. My family is safe and I will end up in great shape but this could’ve been a lot worse.
I am excited about my future. I’m excited about new music. I’m excited to get back out there and enjoy a great night with my fans on the road. This will affect things a little in the timing category but don’t worry, the things I just mentioned will come. Nothing will stop me from doing what I love and making music for you guys. So on Monday I go under the knife and I’ll make sure to keep you guys updated as much as possible. I may be under the influence of some drugs so I apologize for my tweets and posts in advance.
