Yes, one of the 13 times he’s performing on national television between his album drop and New Years Eve. And, gee, many of them are live, and none of them has been canceled. It’s nice to have an Idol that you can send anywhere, from a vineyard, to a club, to Disney World, and you can be confident that he’ll put on a show that’s professional and appropriate for the audience.

Maybe it is an Ohio thing… when I just read that people weren’t familiar with it, I was like ‘What? It’s a classic!’. And leave it to Kris to do such a cool funky version of it.

I read speculation a few days ago that Kris’s studio time right before the AMAs might be to record a
Christmas song for this parade… I guess sometimes these types of things are lip synched? Anywas, I figured that was probably it, but was a little bummed about it. Now we know that there was no lip synching going on… which means there’s still the mystery of the secret studio time to be solved. I’m going back to my first hope that it was something for a TV show or movie.

I don’t see irony, I see the contrast you pointed out. While Adam is surrounded by controversy, here’s Kris at Disneyworld surrounded by glittery Christmas presents and warmth and cheer and I hope this lifts people’s spirits up, because it sure did mine. We need to move on from the AMAs scandal and let Adam do his thing, just like Kris is doing his thing.

Kris is benefiting tremendously from these gigs he is doing. The Sacramento Jingle Ball was a smashing success and he showcased a fun side to himself that people keep accusing him of not having. He won some fans over, and he’s getting his music out there; that’s what matters.

Speaking of irony or contrast, this morning Sirius XM 20 on 20 Morning Mashup show brought up AL in their gossip conversation saying his JK show was cancelled along with the NYE gig. They said something like guess he is learning not to push another guys face into his junk. Then they play LLWD as the next song. Adam is gossip fodder. Kris is the musician with a top 40 hit. hmmmm

Well if I’m not mistaken, the actual parade does not have performances. The artists just stand there on the float and wave or whatever, and then they stop in the middle of the street where the crowd is waiting and the stage is set up and they start performing.

There’s piped in music throughout the park as the parade is moving through, and typically it’s the artists who are performing. Or, at least that’s how it seemed – but it’s been a couple of years, so I could be totally making that up in my head LOL.

I’m laughing that people don’t know “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” We learned a dance (like baby rock ‘n’ roll or something) to that song for school when I was about eight. I liked it better than the regular Christmas songs because it was peppy. But, hey, I was eight.

I don’t own a crystal ball, so I will not prognosticate. But at the moment, I, personally, would rather be singing at Disney World than be a punchline in every single late night comic’s monologue, like the whole parade of screwups and scandalmongers who’ve wafted across the zeitgeist, like, you know, Octomom, Monica Lewinsky, Elliott Spitzer, the governor from SC who disappeared to go “hiking” over Naked Hiking Weekend, Britney shaving her head, LiLo waving her cooter at the world, and whatisface, Sarah Palin’s daughter’s babydaddy. It ain’t easy keeping up that fame ho status when the next punchline comes along. Just ask Joanna from DWTS, who keeps trying her damnedest to keep her name in the news, even though Tiger Woods’ domestic troubles just stomped all over the miniscule controvery of her Playboy spread and hideous PETA ad. Today’s salacious headline is tomorrow’s has-been.

Maybe but not sure that’s the best way to get people outside AI to know you. Personally I don’t buy music of someone just because he is in the news a lot. I may know him through the news but If he gives me bad vibe/impression, I would care less to checkout his music as well. But that’s just me. I only buy music that sounds good to my ear and not because I know him through news.

I think there’s room in the music business for both of them. For me, they’ve both put out some of the better music I’ve ever heard on a cd pushed through the post-AI assembly line. I also think they’re both pretty decent people. Clearly, today they both spent the day working hard to get their music out to the people. I hope they’ll each see some success from that.

SpenserJ, I agreed with you esp. on there’s room in the music business for both of them and they’re both pretty decent people and I sure hope to see both of them succeed. However, after AMA and all that non-stop waves of news, I’m not sure how those who didn’t know Adam before will be able to tell that he’s a decent person afterall. So I’m not sure that’s the best way for people to know you esp. for the first impression.

Just because you’re widely known is not always a positive. Paris Hilton is known in many countries but not for anything worthwhile!!!
It really depends what you mean by benefit. Yes Adam may be more widely known in the “Social set” in the US because of his controversies but I am sure Kris would much rather be known for his music rather than any controversy!!

Also – I read through the other thread & there are a lot of repeat responses from the same people trying to make the same point over & over . I’d rather have “quality” as against “quantity” which is what I usually find in threads purely about Kris!

People know his name, but not his music. Who benefits more, Kris who has a song that’s being played over 3,000 times a week, or Adam, who so far has found it hard to get spins, despite having his name in the news all summer? There’s a reason that Adam did five radio interviews yesterday, and why at the last minute RCA is booking him for these Jingle Balls.

I loved this performance, the drum beat and the whole arrangement was just way too cool. How fun! Too short as usual. And yeah, really now, how does Kris make a Xmas song so dayum sexy. I guess it is the little things like phrasing, little pauses, kicky foot, etc. Wow. OK – now I am in the Christmas spirit.

You guys know this is all a double edged sword. If no one knows who you are how can they respect or enjoy your music. If you are only only known for fame, then no one know your music. Neither option is ideal.

Mtlfan, yes this is a major breakthrough! Los Angeles hasn’t played it at all yet, so hopefully if KBIG has started, the rest of the HAC holdouts on the west coast might jump onboard. Now on to KIIS (Ryan’s station) in LA, although who knows if the HAC station playing it would have any bearing whatsoever. But at least now Kris can hear his song on the radio in Los Angeles (not that he’s going to be home much in December)!

I already jumped ship to XM Pink and XM The Pulse because XM 20 on 20 seems to be ignoring LLWD. Finally, Sirius XM 20 on 20 added LLWD. It’s about damn time. Great news for LLWD as it will reach more audience.

I don’t know why KIIS wouldn’t play it…I actually hear Taylor Swift on there all the time. But, great news about KBIG…big station out here and LLWD fits in perfectly with their playlist! I hope they get Kris on their morning show as well. Good to hear that it finally made its way unto a big LA station!

Clear Channel waited until LLWD was in the top 20 for a few weeks before it started playing it on its bigger HAC stations, and the same will be true for it’s top 40 stations. LLWD will have to do like Taylor Swift’s songs did, and show that it has staying power on the top of the charts before it will even give it a spin.

I’m not sure where to put this, so I am putting it here, the first blog entry about Kris Allen this morning. Tonight Kris is performing along with the Fray and Cobie Collait at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago right on the corner of Michigan Avenue and the Congress Expressway. It is the Miracle Near State Street sponsored by the MIX. I bought two tickets for tonight’s 7:30 performance for my daughter and me. Unfortunately, my daughter cannot go. So I have an extra ticket I would love for another Kris Allen fan to have. If anyone is interested can you please let me know? We could make arrangements to meet up before the show.

I so agree with this Spence, even though Adams is heard more and sold more than Kris right at this moment, Kris is going to be the slow and steady wins the race and I think he will get more plays especially after his performance on dance next week

Are you talking about their songs? Because if you added the total spins of TFM, FYE and WWFM they wouldn’t come anywhere near the number of spins that LLWD has gotten.

I’m kind of careful about making proclamations about either artist, as they’re only at the beginning of their careers.

I know how I feel about the seemingly overabundance of news about Adam. I’ve pretty much always been frustrated by the overshadowing of Kris, but I do know Kris has put a solid album post idol and truly believe he will gain fans as people hear it/him more and more.

In addition, for myself personally, I’ve had no desire to listen to Adam’s entire album (esp. post AMA) so I can’t say what my opinion is of the entire album. IDK if there are ‘outside the idol’ bubble people who feel this way or not, but I’m sure there are, as well as, I’m sure there are people who really want to hear more from him.

Kris and Adam will each gain new fans in their own ways and long post- short, I agree with SpenserJ who says there is room in the industry for both of them.

Wow, the crowd was definitely loving him!!! My initial thoughts when I saw this and heard the crowd? Kris Allen is a rockstar! Hope that doesn’t sound fangirly. It is what it is.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Gah I want Kris to come out with a Christmas album. His voice just makes you feel warm and safe. I can’t tell you how many times I listen to “The Way You Look Tonight” and I love it more than any other version of that song, which says a lot! I think it’s one of Kris’s best studio recordings, after “Come Together” and “Falling Slowly”.

Disney World if fantastic during Christmas season. That’s totally the right vibe for the Disney Christmas parade; Kris’ sweet vocals, fun, hip and dare I say it… jolly!
