Kris Allen rounded out his visit to Boson with a performance of “The Vision of Love” and “Live Like We’re Dying” with Berklee students from the Marty Walsh ensemble.  Kris participated in the Berklee City Music Scholarship Concert at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, MA last night. (8/7).  Kris was there in conjunction with Berklee City Music and Music Empowers Foundation.

I saw this concert on the live stream and it was a lot of fun. There are some very talented kids who won full scholarships to Berklee.

The 2 songs they did with Kris were cool — but it was funny, because they were like these speeded up versions of TVOL and LLWD. Kris sounded good, as usual.

He was obviously having fun performing with this kids. It’s very cool that he is such a big supporter of music education.

I like these arrangements.  Kris has to be on TV all the time, he is so darn good-looking.

I also watched the live stream. The entire program was wonderful and it was moving to watch the kids learn they won scholarships. Very talented people.

Kris looked like he was having a great time.

This video doesn’t quite capture the full effect of the ensemble with Kris on these songs. ‘The Vision of Love’ especially was full and amazingly powerful with all the instruments. They really should record that and sell it as a fund raiser.

when they were handing out the scholarships, they were rattling off the names of some of the people these kids have already performed with. Have to see, pretty impressive for a bunch of 18-year-olds :)

Nice!  I can’t imagine that there will ever be a time that Kris will not be heavily involved in this sort of thing.  This may sound cheesy, but he is a real American Idol, and someone aspiring young musicians ad singers can look up to.

I hate to comment on something that is so personal, but it will be all sorts of fun when he and Katy get pregnant.  He’s just a natural with kids.

Thanks for posting, MJ.  I was out and not able to catch the live stream.

I watched the second half, maybe more…a lot of presentations of scolarships.  Kris closed the show with TVOL and LLWD with the ensemble.  All the youthful energy and talent made these songs more exciting than ever.

Damn, Kris needs a hit song so-o-o bad.  It would make all the difference in his status and prospects.

Kris and the kids sound great with the faster version of TVOL and LLWD.

Yeah, I’m praying for a miracle that he will get a second single and by some, again, miracle, there will be radio support. TYC is full of great songs, kind of sad that not many people know about it.

I really wish TVOL would’ve caught on, it’s easily one of my top Idol related songs released in the last year.  I know, I know… politics, blah.

I enjoy seeing the involvement with these types of events.  Thanks for posting this, mj.

Kris is such an inspiration to so many people including myself.  I love how he supports the kids in their love of music education.   I am so proud to be his die-hard fan who will support him in what he chooses to pursue.  When I watched the livestream of TVOL and LLWD, I was so impressed with the band and also how fast they were singing these 2 songs.  I love watching his expressions as the kids were performing.

I was very fortunate to be able to attend this performance.  Kris was sitting with his road manager, Sean Porter in the same row as me, just a few seats away!  They watched the first half of the show and slipped out just before Kris appeared on stage for the scholarship presentations.  The video can’t capture
how the whole theater rocked with joy, excitement, and celebration of the
student performers. The arrangement of TVOL and LLWD were just perfect for the moment.  Maybe I was swept up in the emotion but TVOL has never sounded better. During LLWD Kris was just beaming encouragement to the student performers.  It was all about celebrating the kids.  On a lighter note, yes I did say “Hi” to Kris.  In person he seemed so thin I just thought “Kris, please eat a sandwich”.  He was unfailingly patient with all the students and fans who wanted to talk or get a picture.

I was listening in on the stream and was blown away by how talented these kids were.   I have to say that The Vision of Love sounded so awesome with the band.   This song definitely needs a drummer because it was one of the best versions I’ve heard live (as opposed to recording).   It was wonderful to see Kris with these kids and these kids with Kris.   He is a natural with them.    I have to agree with Shoriagirl that Kris should be on TV often.   He’s good looking and super talented.

    Thanks MJ for posting this.

Someone has uploaded 4 videos to youtube including both of Kris’ songs. This is what we saw and heard on the live feed. I suggest using good headphones for best effect.
