Check out Kris Allen’s giant cast, decorated with Out Alive tour dates! He tweeted the photo this morning. “It’s obviously mirrored,” he said, But here’s my cast. I thought you might like it.”

The American Idol season 8 winner broke his wrist in a New Years Day head on collision with a car that strayed into his lane. Luckily, Kris, his pup Zorro and pregnant wife Katie were unharmed.

A total trouper, Kris will still begin his Out Alive tour, on January 8 in Killington, VT, despite being fresh out of surgery on Friday to set the break.

ETA: Kris announced this morning that he’ll sing one fan request each night on tour, “We are going to do something special for the #outalivetour. We are going to have a request song each night. The deal is whoever is coming to the show that night and wants to hear a certain song (mine or a cover) tweet the name of that song that day. I will choose one each day and me and the band will learn that song that day. Don’t worry we will remind you each tour date of the request song. So have your song ready.” Kelly Clarkson did something similar with her fans on her North American tour. The request a cover deal was a huge hit…

And in other news, Kris tweeted, “Just got to hear my baby’s heartbeat for the first time. Pretty awesome!”

Aw.

Ram’s Head, Annapolis, 1/14, is SOLD OUT ($19.50).  That gave me a lift.

In NY, Kris is billed second, opening for Paula Cole.  I never heard of her, but she sold millions.

Paula Cole had a big hit album and 2 big radio hits (one of which was used as a theme song for Dawson’s Creek) in the late 90s.  She won the Best New Artist Grammy.  She was pretty much everywhere.  Then kind of disappeared, or at least never had similar commercial success.

Not a fan of Kris Allen, but when he sang “Heartless” on American Idol, my heart melted…Hopefully one of his fans will request it during the tour.

Eeeek, the size of that cast!!!  It needs it’s own name!!! That would certainly be an inconvenience to daily life such as dressing, bathing, etc.  Factor in the pain level (less than a week since surgery) and I have to give major props to Kris for his commitment to his fans that the show must go on.

Having said that and knowing Kris’s snarky sense of humor, that cast and the difficulties it causes will no doubt be a source of hilarious banter on this tour.  I wonder how much food he has dropped on that monstrosity trying to eat and drink with his left hand.
