I scrolled back through Kris’s tweets. He shot the video for LLWD on Oct. 17-18 (it was an overnight shoot). The video was released on November 6.

So assuming he shoots the MV for TT tomorrow as planned, and there are no delays, going off this scheduled, I would look for the MV to be released sometime around August 2nd.

It seems to me there has been a lot more time from the release of TT to the video shoot. As I recall LLWD came out the first of Oct. then they did the video Oct 17-18 and then released the video Nov 6.

When did TT release? It has been weeks right? Bad planning because Kris’s schedule got so crowded there was no time to do the video. However, I am ever optimistic. LLWD released, then went down, then rose to be the wonderful hit that it is now.

My only problem is that if they film this week we still have several weeks to wait to see the new video. I can’t wait, I can’t wait!

LLWD was actually released in late September — I think on September 22 (but don’t have a calendar in front of me, so don’t hold me to that date. It was on a Monday about 1 week after the AI tour ended)

and have to add, that really threw me… that Kris didn’t do “Heartless/GP” last night.. wut?? Has he ever “not” done it for a show?? I knew the day would come, but was really surprised about that last night.. interesting..

LLWD was released on 9/21 and went forsales on itunes on 9/25. The video was released on 11/6. My thoughts: I think LLWD video was released early because it was the lead single and was aimed at both POP and HAC with lots of hype around the release. TT is very different and is mainly for HAC which is slow.
I think the timing is not that bad since it will need to get to the top 20 for most stations to jump on board especially POP and I think the video will make a better impact then. Just my 2cents.

This is the online site for redbutte. The audience area is a natural amphitheatre with only grass and a few retaining walls. People either bring blankets or fold up deck chairs to sit on. The atmosphere is very “picnicky” with most people bringing wine and cheese and scrumptious “horses de vours”. Everything is pretty laid back..people don’t stand during the concerts…you’d kill your neighbor if you did and would trample their gourmet feast.

It is a very “yuppy” scene with a lot of over acheiving college educated types and white heads and lots of professional peeps.

Kris will be playing to a very different type of crowd…not a lot of kids or screaming teens and tweens.

Red Butte is one beautiful place…I’ve been there for concerts, weddings, funerals, corporate lunches and dinners, plant sales, and hand in hand stroles.

I left work and drove somewhere for lunch today, and heard LLWD on the radio. An hour later on the way back to work, I heard TT.

Kris needs to call his mom. Isn’t this when Kris missed the a tv appearance?

It’s okay Tess, Kris has been playing to some diverse crowds over the past few months. Some of the concerts have been full of screaming teens, others, like the one in Chicago, full of twenty something college students, while others have been full of families and those over thirty. He’ll know how to deal with it, like he always does.

I wonder why is Sony recording Angel’s set, and what do they plan on doing with the recording. It will be interesting if she releases a live cd.

Wow, if I come here and read a lot of tweets that make me pissed off I may have to wait until Kris is no longer opening for BNL to follow him!!

I’m reminded of what Elliegrll said last night (?) about whether opening for BNL is the best thing for Kris. BNL’s music and humor are more snide or wise-ass than Kris’s. And some of their fans may not think much of Kris’s warmer, more sincere style. I don’t know. Then again, I know BNL fans who are also big Kris fans. And as I said before, at the concert I went to there were a majority of BNL fans and they responded very positively to Kris.

Once again, I can’t put a lot of stock in a few tweets when there are over 3000 people at a concert.

Yayayay! Kris, Cale et al. @ Paul McCartney. I feel like these guys are family, and that a bit of my family just had a little “dream come true” kind of experience.

I am so darn happy for Kris and Cale. This made me think of all the other “big name” singers they got to see perform and meet like Garth Brooks and Elton John to name a few. All this in addition to performing their own music to adoring fans. They have to feel like they are livin the dream. They so deserve all this!

Sounds like they were snobby at first, but when they started to listen, some saw how talented he is. Most of the people at these concerts won’t know who Kris is, and those who do mainly just know about his connection to AI, so it’s understandable that the reception that he gets might not be very welcoming. But, Kris knows how to tailor his performances to his audience, and he has the talent to catch people’s attention.

I watched at BB King, Las Vegas where Kris sang acoustic “Yesterday” as the encore. I don’t think it was planned because Cale was just watching him and applauding after Kris finished singing.

I’m so happy for him to be able to see Paul’s concert.

Yes, it was that Kris Allen, the “American Idol” winner, who earlier in the evening opened for Barenaked Ladies at Red Butte Garden. Apparently, rather than stick around and see Barenaked Ladies, Allen traveled across the valley to see McCartney. And he seemed transfixed throughout, singing along, clapping his bands, and it was in that moment that it was obvious this was no ordinary concert, and this was no ordinary man we were watching, And it was no ordinary boy we were watching either.”

It is so interesting to see the difference in the thread when Kris opens instead of headlines. It is exciting to see Kris open up his fan base by playing with BNL. I think the audience for Kris when he plays with Keith Urban will be warmer. Partly because of their duet on AI, partly because their “Boys of Summer” duet.

I really don’t hear the kind a snarky comments from the BNL fans about Angel Taylor. It may just be that they don’t care or are indifferent. Angel has some dates with BNL coming up when there is not another opener listed. So she may get her share yet.

Loved the article By David Burger in The Salt Lake Tribune. He is an obvious huge fan of McCartney and wrote a beautiful review of him. But at the same time, he felt no need to pretend he is way to important a person to say something nice about someone from Idol. I am so tired of the snobby reviewers. Taylor’s set, as the first of a trio of acts, was predictably short, and her last notes still seemed to be in the air when a saccharine abomination in the form of Kris Allen and a band of clones took the stage and took the night on a turn for the worse. The winner of season eight of “American Idol” (over the now mildly infamous runner-up, pseudo-miscreant Adam Lambert,) Allen delivered a half-hour of music that felt designed and programmed by an out-of-touch marketing firm. The Idol champion’s bland and predictable musical output was, however, well matched to his feeble banter between songs.

I would just let it go. Unless Kris fans are eager to have a “Look at the BSC Fans!” article written about them. There is no way to win and it just makes Kris look bad.

How wonderful it is that Kris got to see Paul Mc Cartney live following his concert with BNL! He must be on cloud 9. That’s a very good place to be going into shoot his MV for ‘The Truth’. I hope he was able to get backstage and meet him in person.

It’s very cool that the reporter for the Mc Cartney concert noticed Kris and acknowledged him in his review.

It’s a shame we didn’t have more KA fans tweeting last night. Thank you so much Masieta for taking time out of your enjoyment of the concert to keep us up to date! It’s greatly appreciated.

I wouldn’t worry about any snarky or even negative tweets & comments from fans of the acts Kris opens for. It seems a long running tradition to dis the openers, particularly for bands that have a cult following. It’s as if they’ve taken some sort of loyalty oath and any attention given elsewhere diminishes their ‘favorite.’ (Does this sound familiar?) Then there is also the resentment factor – they want to see THEIR BAND and they feel that the openers are somehow taking time away from that or THEIR BAND would get to perform longer without them. No folks, it would just be a shorter concert.

Arthur Raymond is pretty much the reviewer of choice for Red Butte concerts and his prose is ALWAYS flowery and pretty over the top but beneath the “make-up” his reviews are pretty substantial.

As I said in an earlier comment the Red Butte crowd (and obviously it’s reviewer of choice) are pretty hard nuts to crack. These are people who go to almost every concert and are exposed to newbie Artists and veterans of many many years and they have set up an “inhouse” standard that may not be the usual or the norm.

I would hazard a guess that the Glam Nation tour would not be a good fit for Red Butte either and that Adam would probably not be received well….It’s just a matter of perspective from an audience and a reviewer’s point of view.

ETA: I get a big kick out of commenters (fans) who base their opinions of reviewers “Personalities” based on whether they give their fav a good or bad review. Knowing about both the Tribune and Deseret News reviewers everyone would be surprised to know who they really are…….

I’m with Kristin on this. Best response to negative articles or comments is no response at all – unless you were AT the concert and write an article or opinion piece completely leaving out anyone else’s opinion or reports. That reporter seemed most enamored with Angel Taylor and leaned negative on BNL as well. This is David Archuletta country when it comes to American Idols.

This is David Archuletta country when it comes to American Idols.

Oh, you’d be surprised! The verdict on that one is split…he has his fans but there is a very large contingent of people in Utah who don’t think the sun rises and sets in Mr. Archuleta, far from it.

I really don’t hear the kind a snarky comments from the BNL fans about Angel Taylor. It may just be that they don’t care or are indifferent. Angel has some dates with BNL coming up when there is not another opener listed. So she may get her share yet.

I think the difference is Kris is from AI, so the BNL fans are vaguely aware of who he is, and they think that he’s only where he is because of the show.

I love that blurb from the McCartney show. It seems like Kris was in heaven watching his idol.

Arthur Raymond is pretty much the reviewer of choice for Red Butte concerts and his prose is ALWAYS flowery and pretty over the top but beneath the “make-up” his reviews are pretty substantial.

I don’t know how substantial one review is. I’d say the “review” of those who took the time out to buy Kris’ cd at the merchandise stand last night after the concert means more than this one review. I’m sure Adam isn’t too worried about being labeled as pseudo miscreant or mildly infamous.

I know some fans of AI alums make it a habit to comment on every bad review, but I don’t get the point if they actually didn’t attend the concert.

I also agree with Kirsten. This review differs so substantially from the only other previous negative review of Kris. That unprofessional reviewer so obviously had an agenda, as evidenced by his prior articles about how Kris shouldn’t have won, his statement that he already knew how he was going to feel about Kris’ concert & another musician’s concert PRIOR to even attending, and his disparaging remarks about Kris not meeting fans when it was so obvious that Kris was very sick. That guy was embittered & had an obvious ax to grind. This guy just had an opinion (one I happen to disagree with, but that’s okay). If he has a bias, it’s probably against AI contestants, as someone said. Kris’ reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, and I guess I expect a few not so great ones every once in a while.

On a more fun note, I’m sooooo glad Kris got to see Sir Paul, and the SL Tribune article was very sweet. Good luck with the video today, Kris!

I’m ignoring the negative review too, just happy that Kris got to see Paul’s concert considering how busy Kris schedule is. All is good.

Has any info about the video been leaked? Kris said Pat M was going to be in it in some capacity but wondering if there will be a female (and who? Katy maybe?)and if KAB will be in it? I would really like KAB to be featured in some way. They are all so talented I would like to see them get the widespread recognition the video would give them. Also wonder if Kris and Pat will be filming together or if Pat will be filmed separately at another time (like they did with the single)? Does anyone have any clues???

My local station (107.9 Salt Lake) always introduces TT as “the latest from Kris Allen and Pat Monahan”. If the label put out the song this way I would think the video would include Pat singing his part.

I’m pretty sure that they are shooting separate videos. Train put out a feeler a few days ago, calling for male fans to come out for the shoot. If Pat is going to be involved in The Truth, his section will be shot separately.

For some, success is defined only by fame and fortune. I think Kris teaches us that when we put others first, we have already achieved success. I will continue to watch his singles on the charts, hope for increased album sales, and celebrate when he has a great tour. I will try not to get upset when reviewers criticize or he is compared to others because I realize Kris already has what so many only dream of. Not only is he loved by family, friends, and fans, but he is recognized as a man of character. How wonderful that he also happens to have exceptional musical talents. I am proud to be his fan. Can’t wait to see what the next quarter-century brings in his life.

So happy for Kris to see his idol! I think my face would melt, too, if I got to see Sir Paul. I’ve been a fan since I got my first Beatles album for Christmas in 1963!! Dreams really do come true.

And yes, TwigLA, the euphoria from the concert should translate well into the energy for the video shoot today. Hope we get some tweets, especially one that confirms that the band will be in the video. Really hoping for that.

Taylor’s set, as the first of a trio of acts, was predictably short, and her last notes still seemed to be in the air when a saccharine abomination in the form of Kris Allen and a band of clones took the stage and took the night on a turn for the worse. The winner of season eight of “American Idol” (over the now mildly infamous runner-up, pseudo-miscreant Adam Lambert,) Allen delivered a half-hour of music that felt designed and programmed by an out-of-touch marketing firm. The Idol champion’s bland and predictable musical output was, however, well matched to his feeble banter between songs.

LOL. No one should bother commenting on that. (Unless they just simply said something like, “I disagree. I had a great time and thought everyone was wonderful.”) It’s fairly obvious what the reviewer thinks about AI. He hated everything about Kris-even the band, then he managed to include a dig towards Adam. (I’m surprised he didn’t insult Gokey and Allison while he was at it) Snobby critics are snobs.

Glad to read that Train is shooting video today also. My concern was that if they were shooting separately and Train was not able to shoot for awhile it would delay the release of the video.

That wasn’t “not so great”, it was a total pan. People don’t get called an abomination too often. You can’t get much worse than that. lol

I think it’s strange that the guy felt Kris’s music was inauthentic, when he wrote most of it himself, with collaborators who the reviewer would be familiar with. I wonder if he would also call the music for those other bands, like The Fray and Train, “designed and programmed by an out-of-touch marketing firm.” Maybe he would.

Funny thing is, I think marketing was the last thing on Kris’s mind when he wrote his music. And it’s probably the last thing on his mind, generally. It’s a put down that includes a misconception about Idol winners and the music they put out.

I don’t get why the guy thinks Kris is ‘saccharine”. Because he’s not hardcore? That means “sickeningly sweet.” He’s not that at all.

Or why he’s an “abomination.” Even if you dislike him, that’s absurdly harsh and false. It’s how you’d describe a boy-band singer who gets onstage and can’t play or sing. I’m sorry. Kris is a good singer, a good musician, and his band are good musicians. There’s nothing there that deserves that kind of insulting description.

Hey hoosiermama! Surely the band will be in this one. I remember David Cook’s band was in Light On and since Kris didn’t get to use the KAB w/ LLWD, surely!! Hope so anyway.

That’s what I was saying…he covers ALL the Red Butte concerts. He also covers a whole lot of “yuppy” stuff throughout the valley, he’s a reporter, too.

My point being that the reviewer, the basic audience etc. from Red Butte was/is probably not conducive to being on the Kris (Idol) bandwagon. These peeps are a “culture” unto themselves. Acts that perform at Red Butte aren’t the same acts that would perform at the Maverick Center (formally the E Center) or at Wendover or even at the famous Capital Theater. If Kris was booking his own tour I am sure he wouldn’t have been booked at Red Butte…just not his audience (at this point in his career).

Passing through SLC on vacay and got to see one of my favorite Canadian groups in concert. I’ve been enjoying them for the last 20+years. Great as usual.
I will have to disagree with you on your thoughts on the opening act. I was not familiar with Kris Allens music except for a couple of songs, but the kid is really very good. He’s young and only been on the scene for what? A year? He sounded great to me, I loved his original music, and his band is really tight. I’m going to get to see him again when he opens for Maroon5. To each their own I suppose, but I bought Kris’s CD when I left last night.

I don’t understand how anyone would call Kris saccharine. I would never use that adjective to describe Kris’s music. It’s a shame that the critic put that in print but what matters more is if Kris went over well with the crowd.

I’m really hoping Keith Urban records a single with Kris. Urban has already said he would be interested in doing that.

Kris has the support of legitimate musicians like Urban, Maroon 5, Barenaked Ladies, The Script and when he was on the show, singers like Reba McIntire and Carrie Underwood said they liked him.

This really bums me out. KAB has worked really hard in promoting Kris and they are like a family. He just looks so happy and comfortable performing with them! And they are so tight together! But I guess JIVE is selling him as a single artist, not a band. I noticed Adam had some shots of his band in IIHY video (can’t remember FYE or WWFM vids), but did Cook have his band in his videos (other Idols–besides Daughtry?)? *grumpy*

I’m still waiting for Kris to perform someplace closer to New York City/New England. I still haven’t been able to see him perform live except at the Idol tour concert last year which wasn’t an ideal way for me to see him. The sound was terrible at the concert I attended.

My sister who isn’t even a Kris fan got to see him sing in Golden Gate Park and called me to tell me how much she liked him in person. I had sent her an e-mail knowing she would be near the park when he was performing.

cookcricket–I’m getting excited about that concert, too! But first I’m taking my daughter to see Gaga tomorrow in Indy (I’ll be in the cool, quiet hotel reading a book–not at the concert with them!). But hey, could you ask your friend what “classics” she thinks Keith will do so I can youtube them before the concert? You know, songs he *always* performs so I can familiarize myself with his music. That would be helpful. Thanks in advance (and we will have to figure out how we’ll meet up at the fair!).

He’s going to be at Mixfest in Boston on August 2nd. Also Hershey, PA, with Daughtry on August 6th, and The Borgata in Atlantic City NJ on August 7th (as the headliner). He also has dates with Keith Urban in PA and VT in September.

It’s interesting that Kris, or someone who has access to his twitter account, tweeted about the Mixfest concert earlier tonight. I wonder if there’s a reason behind that, like he’s going to do a duet with someone, or something like that. He usually doesn’t tweet about concerts, especially not one that is more than two weeks from now.

Sad to read KAB will probably not be in the video. I want the emphasis of the video to be on Kris (and wishfully KAB) and not turn into a Pat M/Train featuring Kris video. Guess I’m just nervous because of the way the TT single went down. This is going to be a long 2-3 weeks.

Kris is in mj’s today’s headlines with article regarding his mv shoot. I had gotten so spoiled with all of his recent concerts and daily Kris threads that I was sad to see he was on the bottom of the recent posts list and would drop off today but I think there will be quite a bit of interest and news about this shoot. The tidbits we’ve gotten so far are certainly mysterious and make me warily optimistic.

Well I guess I need to read the headlines thread. I usually skip it, or just scan it because … well, you know.
