Kris Allen is in New York City beginning the big push to promote his new self-titled album, available everywhere tomorrow (Nov. 17)

Kris’s appearance schedule for this week includes: It’s On with Alexa Chung, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, and   VH1 Top 20 Countdown.

Check out the Idol Appearances page HERE for more info.

After the jump, check out a sleepy Kris talking to a few FOX affiliates via satellite this morning.

In the Philly interview, Kris did a good job deflecting the whole “Some people think you didn’t win” meme I’m sure he’s going to be hit with again and again as he’s interviewed in the next couple of weeks…

UPDATE: Added Phoenix interview. PLUS, Water Cooler Convo posted many of the press junket interviews, so that I don’t have to. HERE.

Video after the JUMP…

I think the Detroit interview is great. The news caster sounds like a fan who did his research and has heard the album.
The Philly news people just asked stupid questions. Really stupid!
    Kris looks and sounds exhausted!

  • kt_cle

I’ve seen 3 Fox interview today (Detroit, Philly, and Phoenix)

I think Philly is my favorite of the three… he showed humor, seemed relaxed, and I loved the look on his face when asked about any weird things he does.

Since it’s not posted above, here’s the link to Phoenix:

  • rockvixen

Gosh that 2nd interview was lame. FOX always sucks.

  • SybilTrelawney

He’s cute as a button, but man, he is inarticulate. It’s not just that this was a morning show. I saw a clip of him being asked what “Red Guitar” was about and his answer was “It’s about a guitar.”

He needs more interview training. He’s such a sweet guy, but he needs to learn how to inject some personality into his interview responses.

  • gingerly

I too thought the Detroit interview was insightful. I found the Philly interview just stupid. Great that he laughed and all, but the questions were inane such that laughing was about all he could do.

  • Starr

@SybilTrelawney: Well, after you’re asked the same question zillions of times, sometimes you just wanna answer “duh, it’s about a guitar” (which Red Guitar IS, by the way). I get what you’re saying though. However, Kris has always given off the impression that he’s a man of few words and hasn’t really gotten used to doing interviews (although he has grown light years from when he was on Idol). I actually like the fact that he doesn’t give perfect answers to each question. Like, he’s not one to launch into the “creative process” of his album-making. He’s just gonna say it was fun, and that’s pretty much all there is to it. I know we’re supposed to glean something insightful from interviews, but really, if it’s not Slezak, Cantiello or another American Idol expert asking the real questions, are we really expecting much from FOX? LOL

Kris looks exhausted, and I hope he gets some rest before he has to do major promos for tomorrow. He will be doing GMA and then It’s On With Alexa Chung, and I’m sure a bunch more stuff for the album release tomorrow.

  • anovich

I saw a clip of him being asked what ‘Red Guitar’ was about and his answer was ‘It’s about a guitar.’

General consensus is that with this interview Kris was getting annoyed with the interviewer. She would ask a question, he would start to answer and she would interrupt him and pull the mic away, so he gave a snarky/stupid answer.

  • smartcookie

He really is getting better at interviews. He seems in control instead of skeered. Plus he’s just so darn cute. (And it was adorable that the album cover *did* look like it was staring at him.)

  • kt_cle

I saw a clip of him being asked what ‘Red Guitar’ was about and his answer was ‘It’s about a guitar.’

Was that the ‘HollyScoop’ (or something like that) interiew? I got whiplash just watching it… the microphone being yanked back repeatedly so she could elaborate on her question. Honestly, I think Kris just wanted it to end (or maybe I’m just projecting my thoughts on him).

There’s no doubt that Kris isn’t a ‘smooth talker’. But I think he has improved with practice and experience. He comes across great when talking with good interviewers… relaxed, much more articulate, funny, etc. He’s not yet at a place where he consistently overcomes weak interviewers.

  • smartcookie

The Phoenix interview is totally the best. If you want to see how he answers the red guitar question when it isn’t a completely awful interviewer asking it, look at the Phoenix interview. Lovely, articulate, engaging answers.

  • leome

Well, after you’re asked the same question zillions of times, sometimes you just wanna answer ‘duh, it’s about a guitar’

I kinda of doubt he has been asked this question that many times, neverthless it’s actually a good question. A question about HIS music, which is kinda of the point of this all. I mean, if that bothers him, what kind of question is he expecting to have?

Is he doing any sort of CD sigining tomorow?

  • Trina

I guess it’s safe to assume he won’t be doing any CD signings? Not that I think that type of thing is crucial for promo, its just the selfish part of me that likes going to them LOL

eta: Woah leome we must have posted that question the same exact time. Freaky.

  • Eileen99

jambajim @krisallen Hey man, want a Red Bull? Regular or sugarless? MTV’ll hook you up. We’re good like that.

    Jim’s trying to help, LOL.

  • Starr

Yeah, I think that if the interviewer isn’t being an ass, Kris totally gives engaging and insightful answers. He hasn’t come across as standoffish when he’s doing interviews with Cantiello, Slezak, Parker, or any of the regular Idol reporters who he’s grown comfortable with.

That Hollyscoop reporter – I wanted to slap her with that microphone for the countless times she kept interrupting Kris. And also, Kris has a pretty sarcastic sense of humor, if you’ve kept up with his tweets, you know this. And his answer of “it’s about a Red Guitar” was more sarcastic than him being at a loss for words. Now why would he be at a loss for words about the only song he wrote himself on the album – a song that also happens to be his favorite? There’s not reason; other than the fact that (a) the interviewer was being annoying, or (b) he’s really tired and he really just doesn’t want to get into specifics about a song that’s clearly titled “Red Guitar” after a red guitar.

  • kt_cle

If you want to see how he answers the red guitar question when it isn’t a completely awful interviewer asking it, look at the Phoenix interview

What’s interesting to me is that even in that interview he didn’t go into the meaning/metaphor behind the song. It will be interesting to watch over time how Kris handles maintaining a balance between keeping his private life private and the influence that his private life has in his music. People are going to want to know what inspired songs like Red Guitar and I Need to Know, and get the impression that Kris would rather not talk about his private experiences and feelings. I totally get it, since I’m the same way. I, however, don’t have people shoving microphones in my face asking these questions.

ETA: According to Good Morning America’s twitter, Kris will be performing in Times Square tomorrow: http://twitter.com/GMA

  • Starr

Okay, see, for me it’s all well and good to ask what the meaning of “Red Guitar” is, but it’s not rocket science. If you listen to the lyrics, he says “her” a lot, and sure, some people name their guitars and they usually get female names and such, but how does a guitar strum herself beautifully? How does it “play it soft, so only I can hear”? It’s kind of a “duh” question. But I digress.

  • leome

eta: Woah leome we must have posted that question the same exact time. Freaky.

    Ha ha!
Not that I would ever be there, but I like CD signs, for the pictures, the stories and all that. lol

  • kt_cle

Okay, see, for me it’s all well and good to ask what the meaning of ‘Red Guitar’ is, but it’s not rocket science.

I get what you are saying… I’ve just noticed that a few times I’ve seen more personal answers (“It’s a metaphor for how I feel about her”…. something equating the Red Guitar to his/her heart), but more often his response keeps it more literal – “I took it off the wall and wrote a song on it, so I decided to call it ‘Red Guitar’” (or something like that).

ETA: and I think if “I Need To Know” gains more attention, the questions will come as well. Kris has pretty much said that he was going through a hard time when the song was written. I think if he’s pressed for details, he not going to be comfortable expounding on that answer.

  • Mary102

ETA: According to Good Morning America’s twitter, Kris will be performing in Times Square tomorrow: http://twitter.com/GMA

Ok, not sure if anyone knows this, but does anyone have any idea as to whether Kris is singing outside tomorrow, or in the GMA studio?

  • Eileen99

I agree with the comments that Kris will need to learn how to talk about his music while still guarding the privacy he seems to value a great deal. My take on I Need to Know is that it’s a conversation with God (Are you leaving me, or are you leading the way?); I’m anxious to hear him talk about the song to see if I’m right (or if he even reveals the meaning of the song).

  • kt_cle

Mary102 I took the GMA tweet to mean that he would be outside. The tweet says:

#MusicMonday: @KrisAllen performs LIVE in Times Square tmrw AM. Come on down!

  • gingerly

So after seeing the Phoenix interview, I have to think that when interviewers aren’t being asshats, Kris answers very eloquently what Red Guitar is about. Just my take on the issue.

  • Starr

@Eileen99 and kt_cle: See, I totally understand where you guys are coming from. However, a vague answer can be a godsend. I personally don’t really need to know what Kris needed to know in “I Need to Know” LOL (that was a mouthful), because I think the beauty of that song is that you can speculate and interpret it however you like. Eileen, you say what you garner from that song is Kris’s conversation with God, and that’s a different take on the song than mine was. I thought it was Kris feeling like he wasn’t getting support from fans or America in general, during a time when he was getting a lot of negative press after he won. It can also be interpreted to be a song about Katy, and being away from her and being unsure of their relationship, etc.

I think Kris is the kind of guy who lets his songs speak for themselves. He has always said he wasn’t the most eloquent guy in interviews and when he wants to express something, he’d rather write a song than tell you exactly what he thinks. Why do you think practically all of the songs on his record are about Kris having difficulty expressing himself?

“Live Like We’re Dying” is about telling people you love them before time runs out.

“Written All Over My Face” is about being frustrated when people keep asking you to communicate more when you feel like you’re giving them what they want in kind rather than in words.

“Is It Over” is about struggling to find the right words to say in order to get a lover to turn around and come back.

“The Truth” – “honesty is honestly the hardest thing for me right now”.

  • SybilTrelawney

Kris has said that he’s very proud of “Red Guitar” because he wrote it pre-Idol, so he ought to be prepared to talk about it. Otherwise, what’s the point of the interview? I mean, you get to look at him, which is always nice, but there ought to be more.

It reminded me of the time Ryan asked him why he was going to sing “She Works Hard for the Money,” and his response was something like “Because it’s about a woman who works hard for the money.”

Please don’t take this as knocking Kris. It’s just an observation from someone who likes him but isn’t at the center of the fandom.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Kris, I just think he needs to hone his interview skills, particularly during a week like this, when promotion is key. His image is the “organic” singer-songwriter as opposed to the “entertainer.” So he needs to be able to share a little bit more into his writing process, and what the songs mean to him, to highlight that image.

  • Mary102

Mary102 I took the GMA tweet to mean that he would be outside. The tweet says:

#MusicMonday: @KrisAllen performs LIVE in Times Square tmrw AM. Come on down!

That’s what I’m thinking too – just my luck ;-)

See, I got studio tix for tomorrow, but I don’t want to miss him performing if he’s going to be outside! Ack! This sucks :-( How come even when I win I lose.

  • Trina

If he’s definitely going to be outside I might try and go..his Facebook posted that he’s performing on there tomorrow but they didn’t specify it would be outdoors or encourage fans to show up. If he is hopefully they’ll clarify or Kris will tweet something.

  • kt_cle

Starr you make some great points. When it comes to songs like ‘I Need to Know’, I kind of like it both ways. I like having a chance to find my own meaning in a song without being biased by too much information up front. But when I have an interest in the performer, I eventually want to know what their motivation and meaning was. Kris’s songs are very personal (see Brand New Shoes), and some are more obvious than others. I think he’ll get the questions – he’ll just have to decide how he wants to go about answering them. It will be interesting to watch.

  • Mtlfan

hahaha there was some pretty stupid stuff from the philly interviewer. I tought he did a good job there, never defensive.. go with the flow. I missed what he said at the end of this interview.

the detroit one is pretty good and the interviewer was way more appreciative

Totally understand, and thanks for clarifying. For crazy fans like us, we sort of see it from a different perspective, because we practically stalk him on the internet and find everything out right away, so when things like “what is the meaning of Red Guitar” get asked, it sometimes gets an eye-roll from us, even though it’s a perfectly reasonable question from someone who isn’t a complete freak about everything related to Kris.

And I thought that “She Works Hard for the Money” example you brought up was perfectly fitting. I cracked up when he said that on the show, but mostly because I thought it was hilarious that he was going to attempt to explain the meaning behind that song and possibly risk offending people who thought it wasn’t about a prostitute LOL I thought that was the only reason he settled for that answer. :D

  • sunchick

He went the self titled route so he wouldn’t name it something dumb? Heee. Meanwhile, Cook had a whole thesis prepared on that topic. So funny, the differences between the two most recent winners in interviews. This is how I imagine Cook and Allen selling ice to an eskimo, for example….Cookie would totally convince the eskimo this ice was no ordinary ice but rather ice that he especially froze and then sculpted into this beautiful expression of his soul just for them, and then recall a charming antedote about the ice sculpting process. By the end of it, the eskimo not only wants to buy the ice sculpture, but also hug it and irrationally hope it lasts forevah… OTOH, Kris would be all…Yeah, so I have this ice. You have a lot of it. Um, buy my ice anyway??? I, um, worked really hard pouring the water into the little trays, you know, so that this ice is perfectly drink-sized, you know. (insert crooked smile here) And the eskimo will buy the ice because Kris was so adorably humble and unassuming about selling it.

  • Mary102

Yeah, I even tweeted Kris about it – but I’m not exactly expecting a response (maybe I should ask Jim Cantiello to ask him…hmmm)

  • Starr

    LOL @sunchick

OK, I think we can all agree that Kris is not only a dork, but a dork who doesn’t really know how to creatively say “I named my album ‘Kris Allen’ because I didn’t want to name it something dumb” LOL :D Sorry, but I find that sort of stuff endearing. I know some people love eloquence and long-winded answers and whatnot, but I just love that Kris is not both those things. But A+++ example LOL :p

  • evanjane

I’ve seen several of these interviews today and Kris is very articulate. The interviewers seem to love Kris — one actually tallking about how Kris took the time to do all the inteviews when he was in there city during the IDOL tour even though he didn’t have to do it. All were very upbeat and positive. Kirs is articulate although his delivery is very laid back. He was asked about Adam’s album cover art and handled it like a pro, giving props to Adam.

“After the jump, check out a sleepy Kris talking to a few FOX affiliates via satellite this morning.

Thanks for accentuating the positive there, MJ. lol I didn’t see the Philly interview, but the ones I did see – Salt Lake, Providence, Detroit, et al were great interviews and Kris handled himself quite well. Perhaps, Philly mentioned it, but Kris hasn’t been hit with it “again and again” — unless I’m missing something. Try to hold down the Kris’ love. ::wink:: :: wink::

  • kt_cle

evanjane do you have any links to some of the other interviews you mentioned?

  • sidewalkstory

Ok, not sure if anyone knows this, but does anyone have any idea as to whether Kris is singing outside tomorrow, or in the GMA studio?

If he’s performing in Times Sq. there is almost a 100% chance that he will be in the studio. Times Sq events are major! Lots of planning – permits, police, port-a-potties, street closures, etc. Even Carrie Underwood did not perform in Times Sq.

If the concert was going to be outside, your confirmation would have said the the concert would be outside, weather permitting. Keep in mind that if you are inside, you probably will still be standing. It’s a small studio, not their regular broadcast studio.

I just happened to be speaking to a Twitter friend this morning. It seems like everyone who asked for Kris tickets, got them, and there have been last minute calls to fill the audience. I’m guessing after Carrie’s poor turnout, they are not going to bother setting up outdoors.

On the other hand, something is in the works for Adam. The studio says that 19 has it all planned out but they are not at liberty to disclose. So my friends thought is that Adam’s concert will be outdoors, rain or shine. I disagree. She says that they could put Adam in some sort of tent and the rest of us could bring umbrellas. I still disagree. But there you have it.

THANK YOU! Kris is quite charming the way he is.

  • evanjane

Wow! I just saw the Philly interview. That guy was an ass. I laughed when Kris asked, ‘what kind of question is that?” At least the guy had the good sense to say, “a silly one.” Kris isn’t working for 15 minutes of fame, he’s working for a long-term career. I laughed when Kris called David Cook, the american idol in some random interview. I find that very sweet and appealling. We all gravitate toward a musician/artist/actor for a particular reason. Different strokes. Kris fits the bill for me.

  • kt_cle

Thanks evanjane! I’m supposed to be ‘working from home’ today… but why start working now? I’ve got videos to watch :D

  • girlygirl

I think Kris handles himself just fine in interviews. And it’s not like he can expound on questions all that much when he’s doing a 2 or 3 minute interview via satellite. These aren’t meant to be in-depth interviews — they are just meant to promote his album coming out tomorrow. The only time he could really get into talking about his music and what the lyrics are about would be if he is doing a lengthy in-depth interview with someone.

Kris doesn’t take himself or any of this media stuff too seriously — which is a good thing, considering how many times they rehash the same tired questions or ask him lame things that have nothing to do with his music. And he comes off as himself, not as someone who has been trained by his publicist to come up with the most “perfect” soundbite knon to mankind.

His face when the Philly reporter asked him about what weird things he does was priceless. maybe he should have told them about tweeting people stuff he sees in the skymall magazine when he’s bored on flights (like he did yesterday).

  • Mary102

Sidewalkstory - thank you so much for the info! You’re my NYC go to expert :-) (God, I wish I could live in NYC, but alas…)

LOL, I’m me (at least as long as I don’t irritate Gadget any more…) I get quite tired of all the “advice” Kris gets from some of his so-called fans.

  • Eileen99

I agree with those that say these short TV spots aren’t that deep. Kris does come off as his sincere, adorkable self (which I love)…

I am looking forward to some of the meatier interviews this week, however, where I hope he is asked about his songwriting. I’m very intrigued about a few of the songs. And of course want to know what happened to the Mat Kearney & other collabs we heard about.

I am expecting and hoping for his full band for the GMA concert tomorrow! I wonder if the songs he’ll perform will give us a clue as to which songs are in the running for the next single.

  • Truthiness

Good news…new plaid! Bad news, I don’t like it. I think that shade of brown just kind of blends in with his skin tones and hair and eye colour. Boring and not the most flattering on him.

I haven’t listened to ALL of Kris’s interviews today, my goodness! he’s done a lot of them. I know it’s part of the package, but whoa. It reminds me when I watched the Kradison interviews after they got through Group 2. They were so cute despite the boredom they must have felt answering the same questions over and over and over again, and it being so early when it started.

I think Kris is FINE in interviews. He’s comes across as a nice, laid-back guy, who displays a dry sense of humor once and a while. Now I happen to really enjoy those times that Kris lets his dry sense of humor show, but then I find him really funny when he does it and I like to laugh. :) The only things I will say that bugs me about Kris’s interviews on a fairly consistent basis is his mumbling. And I think he’s getting better, but yeah, it’s still there a little bit too much for me.

And these are throw-away interviews meant just to remind people of who he is, because outside the AI bubble, most casual fans of anyone on the show (this goes for Adam too) have to be reminded of the song. And remind people why they liked the guy and oh yeah, he’s putting out a CD. Maybe as well introduce some none-AIers to him, of course, and I think he comes off, again, as a nice, laid-back guy. Now would that make me want to check out his music any more than I would have normally if I didn’t know or like Kris? Eh, but they play part of the song and I like it, and I like the vibe of the music he’s talking about, it might increase my chances of doing so.

Well I don’t know if I will get through ALL those interviews of Kris today, that is a big list and most of them are dull. So to the Kris stans who might have gone through all of them, which ones do you recommend the most?

  • girlygirl

The Raleigh interview might be the best one because the reporter/anchor actually asks him questions about how the songs were chosen and about whether Kris was able to actually play on the songs instead of rehashing tired questions.

  • girlygirl

The Salt lake City one was sort of funny — Kris is like, “what — I went bowling?” when they were bringing up the whole thing about how the paparazzi will find you if they want to.

  • girlygirl

I wouldn’t make a good celebrity — being asked the same questions over and over again would seriously tick me off, and I doubt I would be able to hide that.

  • Mtlfan

thanks evanjane for the link to all the interviews that Kris did so far today. Wow there’s a lot

He went the self titled route so he wouldn’t name it something dumb?

This guy has no facade, he says as he feels it is. Me likey, don’t change Kris.
liked when he replied to the guy “what kind of question is that?” when asked if he had any weird behavior… too funny that he said that he’s weird but hide it

  • kt_cle

I know a lot of attention was paid here over the weekend about the impact of the Conan appearance on the LLWD ranking on iTunes. I just checked both from the iTunes store interface and found LLWD at 51 (about where it was at yesterday, right?) and the album at 47. Does anybody remember where the album was in the last couple days?

  • Truthiness

Wait a second, Kris didn’t do every interview in every town he was in. He did do all of his press days, but one, but he didn’t do every press day. Sorry, despite what I said, I am going to watch all of these interviews. Couldn’t resist :)

  • Eileen99

Re: the interview last week about Red Guitar, in which he answered it was “about a guitar”. I meant to comment at the time, but didn’t, but I see that’s been brought up in this thread.

It’s totally possible (and likely) Kris was smirking when he said it. Many times, a dry sense of humor doesn’t translate well to print. My assumption always was he was being funny and the interviewer/editor didn’t “get it”. Oh well. It’s no matter.

  • jts323

Umm, but it wasn’t about a prostitute. It was about a bathroom attendant at Chasen’s Restaurant who Donna walked in on napping. They had a conversation where the woman told her she had to work two jobs to feed her kids.Donna went home and wrote the song about her. She also featured a picture of the woman on the back of the record.

Watch the video of it and tell my why anyone would think the woman was a prostitute. It was an everywoman anthem.

I don’t know why they didn’t just show his LLWD MV instead. They should take Kris’ own word, let his music speak for itself. Obviously, Kris sucks at interviews. LOL

  • Mtlfan

don’t remember which interview it was but he said he recorded between 20 and 30 songs for the album so when he says that it was a lot of work during the tour, he really means it. Hearing that made me realized more how crazy that was

  • Truthiness

Thank you TwigLA, it’s a peeve of mine when people think SWHFTM is about prostitutes, when it’s really about what it says, and what the video was about, and what the cover showed…women who have to work hard at jobs like waitresses, cleaners, whatever, to support their family. Of course it also continues to annoy me that Kris did that song on disco night when it wasn’t disco and no one called it out for that. I mean it’s one of my faves of Kris, and one of my faves of the season, but it’s not disco.

Back to the interviews, why do so many of those newcasters have to scream so much? Is it too much caffine? Trying to wake people up in the morning.

And yeah, the Raliegh interview was good because it discussed his music. And something that comes through a lot was how much that Kris liked that the album reflected him and staying true to himself. And yes, he was proud of his music and selling it, so there you go. Kris does too sell his music and makes it interesting and relateable. Or I think so.

  • Mtlfan

I don’t know why they didn’t just show his LLWD MV instead. They should take Kris’ own word, let his music speak for itself. Obviously, Kris sucks at interviews. LOL

He’s doing just fine for me. He stays who he is and answers well the question. Don’t know where you’re saying this

  • kt_cle

Sounds like we might be in for another good interview from Jim C.:

Attention Kris Allen fans: we successfully had a serious discussion about MUSIC. No blue jokes. 4Real! @allen_kimberly will be so proud!

I admit that the ‘awesomely honest’ part has piqued my curiousity.

  • TwigLA

I was looking at the time on some of those videos. They were around 5 or 6 AM PT. Kris must have had major jet lag and very little sleep. Then the same questions over and over. It must be like Groundhog Day.

    Thanks for posting them.

I just noticed Jim Cantiello tweeted about his interview with Kris. I can’t wait. It’s going to be good.

Its funny the different perceptions people have from Kris’s interviews!! Obviously some people are like some interviewers- they don’t “get” Kris’s humour!! I suppose being an “Aussie” I totally get Kris’s dry humour as that’s what we are like!! Michael Johns has the same problem with some interviewers that they don’t understand his humour!!!
I also don’t get the mumbling comments as I don’t hear that at all – I understand every word he says!!
I love the way Kris is so laid back in interviews- what you see is what you get- there’s no “fakeness” about Kris [ Once again being an Aussie I can spot a "fake" from a mile off!!]
The reason Slezac & Jim ‘s interviews are so good is because they are on the same wavelength as Kris !!

Thanks so much evanjane for the link to all these interviews!!
Whew- it would have been easier to do one longer one & then show it everywhere but I am happy to see that Jim has now done one – so we should see the contrast with this one!! Look forward to it!!

And I thought that ‘She Works Hard for the Money’ example you brought up was perfectly fitting. I cracked up when he said that on the show, but mostly because I thought it was hilarious that he was going to attempt to explain the meaning behind that song and possibly risk offending people who thought it wasn’t about a prostitute LOL I thought that was the only reason he settled for that answer.

LOL sorry TwigLA and Truthiness. I don’t think I parsed my words correctly. What I meant was that the “joke” of that song is that it’s about a prostitute, and when you try and explain the meaning of the song behind that to someone who doesn’t know, it can be a pain in the neck. I have seen the video and my mom is a big Donna Summer fan. :D

As usual I’m late to the party!!

“Good news’ ¦new plaid! Bad news, I don’t like it.” (LOL Truthiness)
But I really like it – I look AT it as “serious, no nonsense somewhat semi-formal” plaid shirt.

Also, how much indepth analysis or explanation can u get into in 2 to 4 minutes TV Spots, where you know the Interviewer is going to ask u atleast 4 to 5 questions and u also HAVE to mention “My album drops in Nov 17!”

“What is Red Guitar about?” – “A Red Guitar.” OMG this one cracks me up everytime I see it anywhere and belive me this ‘quote’ has been brought up many places. I love Kris’ dry sense of humour. I tots gets! I find it annoying that some ppl don’t and they then go ahead and call him ‘inarticulate, boring, or dumb’.

Correct me if I’m wrong, Isn’t the Mat Kearney collab called ‘Tug of War’?

“@Seeker: I thought it was called ‘Top of the World’ ? At least that was what I heard from seeing that Youtube video from the Vineyard gig when he met with those girls from ontd_ai.”

Whether he is engaging, articulate or whatever does not change the fact that Kris Allen looked delicious in all those interviews. Okay, being shallow here. Hahaha.

  • tripp_ncwy

Kris Allen Official has had a complete makeover today. It looks nice.

@carmine: One cannot deny the pretty. I’ve tried, and failed miserably. :D

Oh, to anyone who is interested #krisallen will be trending on Twitter, starting midnight EST to commemorate the occasion. I’m so proud of Kris! *sob*

It looks like Kris’ album has made a nice jump on the iTunes chart. Yesterday or the day before, in the headlines thread we were debating whether Kris had any chance of outselling John Mayer this week (consensus – no) and I posted a thing that showed where their respective album were at that time on the iTunes overall chart.

Of course now I can’t find my post, but if I remember correctly, Mayer was something like #13 overall, while Kris was something like #72 overall and #19 pop.

Well I just looked now, and Kris is sitting at #47 overall and #10 pop. So something has given him a boost. Music video? Ads? Radio play? All those early morning interviews? Probably combination of all. But still, nice to see.

  • ai_fan

Happy Album Eve all! I can’t believe it’s finally here. How wonderful for Kris.

KA official’s makeover, very professional…and the banner is very, very nice. This picture OMG and I am not the fangirl type.

I think Kris is Kris in interviews and that’s what I love about him. He doesn’t try to be someone he’s not, he doesn’t fill your head with rhetoric, he’s just real. Give me a Kris interview after a long day of meetings and I have to smile. Why can’t everyone just be real?

  • Mtlfan

I wonder how those Cali boys (Andrew, Ryland & Chris T.) are going to handle the cold of NYC during their GMA concert if they perform outdoors. Kris & Cale would be more used to it being from AR. I hope they brought a jacket.

Leather. Leather would be fine. Leather jackets. Just sayin’.

ai_08: “This picture OMG and I am not the fangirl type.” LOL!
I love the way the light is falling on his face, how it brings out his beautiful eyes.

OK i just wanna say this before Kris’ album’s officially available…
I know that most of my comments make me sound like a shallow fan girl!! and a part of me is (I mean who can ignore his beauty!C’on!)
But that’s not what made me his fan. It’s about his music, his vocals, his emotional connection to music & “I know what I’m best at.” – his self awareness of his musical abilities – I admire that so much.

On AI up until Top 07 Movie songs – I’d like Kris. I’d enjoyed ANS, TMYFML. I thought they were pretty but his appearance is what made me go – “Meh.. so he’s pretty… but forgetable.” Then he chose to sing “Falling Slowly” and it made my heart ache! then he followed it up with “SWHFTM” blew my mind!!

I’ve enjoyed AI over the years but never have I ever followed any one out of the AI Bubble. Never have I ever been so invested in a new artist’s music… I just can’t wait to hear or know what else he’ll come up with!

Kris Allen, I’m just so proud of you.

  • anovich

Kris Allen, I’m just so proud of you.

This is a sentiment I think most Kris fans share. It’s kind of funny in a way – he’s only about 6 years yougner than I am but it’s just so easy to feel this way about him.

  • Seeker

@julieitis: You made me think of Kris in Leather – HAWT!! Goddamit!!!! I was trying my hand at not being shallow for one freaking second!!!You had to bring up leather. DANG IT!

@anovich: He’s only about 1 year & few months younger than I am but I feel like a proud mama today!
(Tho I have no ‘motherly’ feeling towards him. Excuse me, gross.)

He’s cute as a button, but man, he is inarticulate. It’s not just that this was a morning show. I saw a clip of him being asked what ‘Red Guitar’ was about and his answer was ‘It’s about a guitar.’

LOL, I’m pretty sure you’re referring to the interview where the interviewer kept ripping the mic away from him before Kris could complete any answers. (After People’s Choice announcements.) It seems interviewers would want to make interesting interviews.

  • ai_fan

    Seeker,

I know how you feel. I thought he was a cute kid and loved his reaction to making Top 13, but that’s it. When he sang “How Sweet It Is” I started to take more notice and by the following week he did ANS and that was it – he had my attention from that point forward.

AI has a new interview up on the front page for our watching pleasure – he explains the bracelets he wears.

  • kt_cle

ONTD_AI got Jim to make a post and he gave some clues about what he meant by ‘awesomely honest’ in his tweet to Kris today.

I’m not really sure how to handle sharing the detail – but for now, the post is open – if it stays that way, this link should give you all the detail: http://community.livejournal.com/ontd_ai/3004301.html?thread=1041393805#t1041393805

If they end up locking it later and you can’t see it – let me just say that I can’t wait for this interview tomorrow.

  • sallysimmons

I would totally buy Kris’s ice!

ETA: OK, that makes NO sense now, but I was actually replying to the comment about Kris selling ice to eskimos. I CANNOT figure out the timeline of these comments!

    Never mind!

The ontd_ai thread is locked. But suffice it to say, it sounds like it’s gonna be an epic interview with a VERY honest…and not always happy…Kris, Cannot wait!

  • girlygirl

I believe tomorrow’s concert is indoors, inside the GMA studio. That’s where the fall concerts usually take place. So the California bred band members shoul be fine…

  • Eileen99

OMG. The interview is going to be truly epic. OMG that’s all I can think of to even say. I’m not going to sleep tonight.

    The ontd_ai thread is locked

I figured it would be soon enough – that’s why I linked instead of copy/pasted (out of respect for their right to keep it private).

Earlier today, I was all good with possibly having to wait a couple days for this interview, since there was so much out there to digest in the meantime. But now I am anxiously waiting for the morning. In an earlier tweet, Jim promised a ‘crumb’ in the morning and a ‘feast’ in the afternoon.

  • Mtlfan

Jim promised a ‘crumb’ in the morning and a ‘feast’ in the afternoon

He’s such a big tease. Kris must like him plenty to open up like that with him

Going to bed. Big day tomorrow :)

Fans of acoustic!Kris are also going to want to watch for the interview.

Maybe they will release the acoustic versions of the songs to be recorded during the AOL sessions in Itunes????

  • erinnthered

I can never tell what’s locked or not because I’m a member. I don’t even remember joining, but I’m sure it must have been a while back. *shrug*

Jim deleted his post and account. He did seem a bit creeped out, but no one on the com seemed worried about it. It’s nice to see AI fans react rationally. I don’t doubt someone capped it.

The tidbits looked good. Kris really is one of those guys genuine enough that he can be brutally honest and still come across like a nice guy.

    Does it come out tomorrow?

  • happygolucky

Just got an email that my preorder of Kris Allen’s album is ready for download. YAY! Can’t wait to hear From the Ashes :) Now off to Itunes.

  • SarahP

awww i love a sleepy kris.

i liked the detroit interview. the interviewer came accross as a rational kris allen fan but hey, maybe i’m seeing it through a kris-biased view point. hehe and i cant seem to access the phil interview but judging from the comments, maybe thats a good thing.

i seem to have missed out what happened at the ontd_ai thread. anything dramatic happened?

  • SarahP

Kris’s appearance schedule for this week includes: It’s On with Alexa Chung, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kelly, and VH1 Top 20 Countdown.

any idea when these are happening? good morning america is tomorrow right? and the others?

  • kt_cle

i seem to have missed out what happened at the ontd_ai thread. anything dramatic happened?

Jim C. created an LJ account and made a post. In appreciation for ONTD_AI’s appreciation of him, he gave a preview of his interview with Kris which I think will be available tomorrow. He made it quite clear what he meant in his tweet today about Kris being “awesomely honest”. I think it should be a very interesting interview.

  • Seeker

I’m sure u guys already covered Kris Q&A from his official site. But OMG how adorable is he!!!!

    “I don’t really have a best friend…
(Kris looks sideways as someone prompts something off camera. Then)
“My wife and I are pretty good friends”
    (leans forward)
    “Best Friends.”
LOL!!! OMG How PRESH IS HE!!! He’s JUST NOT REAL!!
It’s Kris Allen Day! Enjoy MFs!!!!! (Oooh i’m just bursting with JOY RN!)

  • druzilla

    Pretty good interviews.

The only real misstep was Kris not picking up on the helpfully leading question from the guy in Detroit, he was inviting Kris to talk about *writing* songs on the album.

I don’t watch too many of these things, I’m in awe at the satellite delay.
