After the skies opened last night at Fenway Park in Boston at the Picnic in the Park fundraiser, Kris Allen and his band didn’t allow a little rain (well…A LOT of rain) spoil the party. After a short delay, he moved the concert to a stairwell near a consession stand!

Proceeds of the event benefited the Red Sox Foundation’s Red Sox Scholars and RBI Programs.

Check out Kris and his band mates covering The Beach Boys’ “God Only Knows.”  Check out more videos from the concert HERE.

Kris is a trooper to have continued and done all he could for his fans.
It is too bad it rained but that is how things roll in New England.  The weather is very unpredicatable.

I just wonder why no one from the label or 19 were there?

Someone from the label was there.
https://twitter.com/rcapnelson  Nelson works in th promotions department for RCA.   He was with Kris a few weeks ago, when this event was announced, and they went to a Red Sox game together, he was with him yesterday at the park, and he was with him this morning at the radio station.  Read down his timeline for pictures and tweets. He’s accompanied Kris to a few appearances.

I think that there’s some confusion, this was not an event for all the fans who came to the game, and wasn’t just attended by people who are fans for Kris.  To gain admittance to the event fans had to donate more than $300 each to charity.

there was someone from RCA there — Paul Nelson, who is the RCA promo person for the region. You can see him in some of the photos — he’s wearing a baseball cap and a backpack. He also went with Kris to his radio station interview this morning.

They sounded good – wish TYC could have done better – I like quite a few songs off it. Side note – I really wish Cale and Torres weren’t chomping on gum throughout the session.  (and Torres is hot – second to Kris).

One more thing, I don’t know if Kris is still with 19, but he did have his tour manager with him.  Even if Kris were still with 19, it’s unlikely that anyone from that company would have been at the event, since anything that they could do would be covered by Sean Porter, and having Kris at the event itself was setup by RCA, not 19.

The MC of the event was Mike O’Malley and he and Kris had a great banter going throughout and even O’Malley commented that Kris was shredding his vocal chords trying to sing without a mic.

Greatest. TV Dad. Ever. Carry on.

It’s stuff like this that cements and validates why I love Kris Allen so much. He always goes above and beyond. It seems it was definitely noticed by the bigwigs based on tweets I saw.

Super thanks to aimeeliu15 for all her tweets last night and getting all the videos. I appreciate you so much.

The radio interview this morning was fun. The Red Sox certainly set Kris and company up pretty well.

This is what it is all about.

Just wanted to share this. 1st paragraph from an email to the picnic attendees. They loved Kris!

We would like to extend a special thanks to American Idol winner and RCA Recording Artist Kris Allen who donated his talents to the Red Sox Foundation’s Picnic. What an amazing performer! As the rain came down, Kris generously took his performance inside the Gate B concourse and played an acoustic set under the bleachers! For the more than 200 fans who stayed, it was a marvelous treat! (For those who missed more of his performance, you can find his second release album entitled THANK YOU CAMELLIA )

I think that the Red Sox charity organizers would agree.

@RedSox_Fund: AMAZING would be considered a vast understatement! Great musician but better person. Down to earth defines @KrisAllen

I don’t think that they would think that the situation was sad either.  It seems like they were impressed by Kris, and what he did to give their donors that evening that they were promised.

I need to reiterate everything that Miz said because it can’t be said enough.  Kris is a class act and shows it every time he performs.  He sounds amazing singing a capella and the harmonies on “God Only Knows” send shivers up my spine.  And Torres…I mean…Torres.  (SIGH).  LOL

I would love to see an entire video of God Bless America and even that snippet he sang of  “Hello”.

Highlight of the mid-inning: American Idol winner Kris Allen performing a beautiful rendition of “God Bless America.” That’s why he’s an American Idol, folks.”

    Amen!

The only thing sad about this performance is that I live so freaking far away and couldn’t be there. lol  Kris just doesn’t miss a beat when there is a change in plans, and he always seems to find a way to avoid disappointing the fans.

This song is fast becoming one of my very favorite covers of his with absolutely killer harmonies.  Actually, I think I just adore the 3 of them when they perform together, but this performance seemed especially lovely.  He makes it so easy to be a fan. :)

The only thing I feel is sad, is that the organizers did not think of a “plan B” just in case there is rain… (reading from the posting of MV007) it is also sad to read that the organizers had to look for speakers and microphones for such a long time while Kris Allen was singing his heart out without microphones etc… goodness..
Thumbs up for Kris Allen though.

@MJ … my “Glee”-heart made a happy jump when I read this name : “Mike O’Malley” as MC… his performance as a TV Dad is so great !

this is great! Kudos to Kris and his partners to make something of this event despite that bad weather. LOL at Torres mid-song..
    Kris sounds soo good :)
The GBA is so good!! I wish the whole thing has been recorded not only those 38 sec.

Kris is so adaptable . I’ve always loved God Only Knows & the guys do a great job here -wonderful harmonies[ hard to squeeze around one microphone as well!]

On GBA -Kris’s voice is so pure -lovely rendition.

Kris has not done himself any harm at all by doing this impromptu extended concert due to the rain.It seems no matter where he performs -the people behind the scenes are always commenting & tweeting about what a great person Kris is & how much he gives out to others. Maybe on his gravestone there’ll be  ”Kris Allen-Nicest & most generous man alive!!”

Thank you so much for posting this.
I know full well of Kris generosity towards his fans having him arranged the midnight show at the Viper Room 2 days prior to replace the cancelled show of The LA Fair.
