I can’t wait to see the music video. I’m still trying to figure out what they did with the idea of “time” while constructing some sort of big set near a junkyard in the desert?

I didn’t love the style of the jacket so much, but I loved the way he looked in black. Whew! But then he was just as ‘gawgeous’ in the off-white bathroom shirt. In one of the dressing room scenes where he was wearing the off-white shirt and walking out, did he check his look in mirror for a second? Yeah, it’s all good, Kris. No worries.

I wasn’t digging the jacket, too. Didn’t seem like his style. Also, I find it really funny that we don’t know where music videos premiere anymore. I myself was wondering where that would end up. But I am thinking it will be posted on the official site, since Adam’s “Time for Miracles” video was posted on his official site on the same day of release too. There will probably be clips of the video that will leak before the actual premiere. Once again, I’m just basing off of Adam’s video as well, because Entertainment Weekly released a sneak preview of Adam’s video a few days before it was officially released in full.

So yeah, I’m thinking we should just keep checking back on the official site and perhaps on Entertainment Weekly, or maybe Jim Cantiello of MTV News will have our scoop on the premiere. Who watches MTV anymore for music videos, right? haha

Wow, Michelle, thanks for the info! I looked at his pictures and wow he is mega-talented. Love love love his pictures of Gavin DeGraw, Sufjan Stevens, Rufus Wainwright. I think Kris really scored with this photographer. He seems to really know a lot about ambiance and lighting (well, duh! haha) and I was really impressed by that Man-in-the-Mirror shot of Kris in the bathroom of that Governor’s House. So lovely.

Sarah, I think it was around the same time as when he premiered “Live Like We’re Dying” on Z100. So I think it was sometime around the last few weeks of September, maybe? Since he was in NY at the time promoting the single, and the photo shoot was done at Staten Island, it makes sense.

I already commented on the headlines thread that this is hot! I don’t say that often. It made my heart go pitter patter. Hee!

He really is a gorgeous man and I thought he was much better looking in person…really striking! The first time he walked up to me at the barricades it took me off guard and I blurted out ‘omg you’re so darling!’. He just smiled and said thank you. I like his music but would go to his concert just to watch him perform.

I actually prefer the scruffy Kris – makes him look sexier.

Those were definitely not Packers colors! The Packers green is quite different. The San Diego Chargers have a lightning bolt as their emblem. Maybe he was repping them!

I dunnu… I think Kris pulled off that black jacket beautifully. I know it’s something he wouldn’t typically wear but it didn’t seem awkward on him or he, wearing it.

When the Album Cover leaked, there were some ppl who actually suggested that Kris wearing a leather jacket was out of character, that he was coping some other artist….
I mean, he’s been wearing that same jacket on and off ever since TOP 03 on AI!!

Well I’m excited about Kris’s music video being out soon. Yay! And yes, Kris rocks many looks in this clip and rocks most of them very well.

Thanks MJ for this video and thanks Michelle for the link to the photographer. I was wondering who he was since the first photos and an Access Hollywood taping/interview from it. He does beautiful work that definitely has a cinematic look to it.

I love the locations he uses. Very romantic feel to them and very fitting to the vibe I’m getting from Kris’ album.

I smiled all through watching this, over and over. Kris is so photogenic and natural. I loved the quick switches from ‘posing’ to being himself and goofy.

I didn’t mind the black jacket. It looked Civil War era. I did think it would look better if his hair was a bit longer wearing that.

Since Kris again mentions Mat Kearny in that radio interview, it makes me think he will be on a bonus track somewhere.

Just wanted to post to wish Kris all the best with his first album !! Loving the single, very positive, upbeat AND catchy. So glad that he and Adam Lambert have carved their own niches (so they will no longer be compared).

Hmm both reasonable thoughts about this. I would say about the airplay and because of it appearing on the Billboard charts (Billboard charts (#31 Adult Pop, #50 Christian), which I think is GREAT! how much of this is translating into sales though? But I get what you’re saying, it’ too late to have another single before the album drops. So the push will be towards album sales and hoping that MV and increased spins continue to help LLWD, or barrring that, just album sales. Er, something. My brain is too busy between Adam flailing and having to be at work and be expected to you know…work!

One problem though…he doesn’t say WHERE we can watch it…

I love that photo shoot video, I almost like it so much that I wouldn’t mind it being the official video for LLWD. Almost. The pictures are awesome, and he looks great, but I also love seeing his humor and personality on display. Jive really needs to highlight this video on his twitter page, myspace, facebook, official page, etc., so that people can see it.

I can’t wait to see the video next week. I’m also glad that Kris gave people the heads up to be on the look out for it, since he still hasn’t mastered being open with the information. I wish that he and his label would get on the ball and let people know when he will do a radio or tv interview. Right now, his exposure is isolated to certain areas, so he needs to be more forthcoming about these things. And yes, he should have said where we can see the video, but maybe he doesn’t have that information yet.

Just realized that next weekend will be another big promotional push for Kris prior to the album dropping. His video will premier Friday November 6th and then he has the Live In the Vineyard performance November 7 – 9th. I think his performance date is Sunday the 8th for the main concert. He will probably continue his radio interviews.

What does RHY stand for on the spins chart?

Rhythmic. That’s dance songs. It’s as big a format as Pop, but we think those are from a station in Kansas that went Pop on October 8th and hasn’t been re-classified yet. It was Rhythmic before (and that station added Kris’s song). It’s possible he’s getting some real Rhythmic spins, but a remix would probably be required for it to get any traction in that format.

I want to see this video. He worked with Marco Puig? Could be lush, and unexpected.

Great video! I hope some of those smilin’ shots make the album artwork. Why always so serious? As for the military jacket, the first thing I thought of was it’s another Michael Jackson reference. Just like the man in the mirror shot. Anybody else think that?

Next weekend well be a big Kris Allen good old time. And soon after that the album well be out. I went and look over at the walmart website by the mp three part they have the little thing on there for listening. But when you push it,it says not avilable yet. Got my hope up then dash.

Georgeous sweet Kris. Great video, he looks tired and no wonder, everyminute accounted for right now getting CD ready and all the interviews and stuff. Since Kris it seems Kris will have a big weekend next week, I sure hope he’s able to get some down time with Katy this week. I think it’s great too that he keeps their relationship low key in the interviews.

I know, it’s a nice surprise. I don’t know why, but I had seriously low expectations for Jive as a record label. I mean, everytime I think of Jive I just see Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and The Backstreet Boys. And all three of those artists have huge fanbases so it’s not like they need a great deal of marketing. I thought that Kris would get shafted, but so far I am really impressed with the choice they have made. I just found out today about the photographer for Kris’s album artwork and I was pleasantly surprised that he has really solid work taking ambient pictures of under-the-radar musicians like Sufjan Stevens and Rufus Wainwright. And when I found out he was working with Marco Puig, I was even more surprised and delighted.

Apparently the concept is set in the desert and deals with time and clocks. And they had to build a huge set close to a junkyard or something in the middle of the desert. Sounds really interesting I hope there are a lot of performance scenes – I get a kick out of watching Kris perform and play on a song. Wonder if the band will be in the video though? I’m not sure if the band was assembled already at the time Kris shot the video.

I know Daniel has tweeted that he’s going to Napa for the Live in the Vineyard event and I would bet his parents are going to go, too. Maybe Katy will go — Napa is beautiful, and since it’s a 3-day event, Kris should have at least a little free time to spend with his wife.

As for the music video, Kris isn’t much of an actor, so hopefully he didn’t have to try and do too much of that. But the director and the DP have some really interesting stuff on their resums, so I have my fingers crossed that this MV will be something really conceptually interesting and pulled off nicely.

Yup, Kris has said he’s not much into acting, so I’m expecting nice performance scenes from the video. He may not be into acting too much but the camera loves him. If there’s a face that was made for TV, it’s this guy’s.

Napa is beautiful, and since it’s a 3-day event, Kris should have at least a little free time to spend with his wife.

Sounds like a great place for a romantic weekend!

Watching this photo shoot vid makes me think that Kris is really great at taking direction from a good director, so I really have great hopes for the video!

I couldn’t wait to get home to my little snippets. But I wonder…if the SNIPPETS have this effect on me…what’s the album gonna do?!! Egads!

To the Cookie fans, when I previewed David’s snippets last year I loved soooo many of them, and then I loved almost every song on his album. I love almost every snippet of Kris’s, so I’m thinking “It’s a SIGN!” A good sign!

Thanks so much for giving us a link to the Peoria interview. I missed it — it’s not close enough to me to get all the time, but if I drive about twenty miles, I can pick up that station. I would’ve driven the twenty miles if I’d known what time they were interviewing him.

Hmm I’m only going off of Adam’s video release for “Time for Miracles” – when they premiered that video it was put on Adam’s official site, so I think the same will be done with Kris’s. Also, Entertainment Weekly and MTV previewed clips from Adam’s video a few days before the video was revealed in full, so I would say keep a lookout for those two sources in particular, and if you have a Twitter, Michael Slezak and Jim Cantiello will probably fill us in via their tweets.

I just have to say that I remain amazed that everyday I seem to have a new favorite song. Yesterday it was “Red Guitar” and today it is “Before We Come Undone”. I like both so much right now I am hoping that either get released as a second single, but I think BWCU might have a better shot at second single status than “Red Guitar”.

However, promotion will be key to his sale success as well and I truly hope Jive will do some decent amount of promotions for him (at least some big banners please) when the album drops and not just let him do all the jobs by himself with the radio stations. I feel that they really work him like a dog..

Exactly! But I was kinda saying the album appears to be a winner in and of itself…whether it’s a chart-topping album or not. I’m just happy for Kris that he was able to put out some great songs (snippets?!) in such a short amount of time.

I know, it’s kinda trippy that this whole album was accomplished in the span of 2 months WHILE on tour. Kris needs a break! It’s crazy because he just got back from tour, he’s now doing mostly album promo stuff which will last until probably the end of the year. He’ll probably do some stuff for American Idol’s new season for January (dunno if they are going to ask him to come on the show and sing or if they are going to ask him to do Idol Gives Back, etc), and then he mentioned going on tour around February. So in a sense, Kris won’t get a vacation anytime soon! Crazy…

So our landmark dates. Nov. 6th for the MV and Nov. 17 for the album!!! I’m thinking we may get a listen of the entire album before the 17th. At least I hope so because this would be great PR!!!

“Alright With Me” is such a fun song, and I rewatched the Lyndsey Parker interview again and Kris just lights up when he describes the song. I’m happy knowing he really enjoyed himself when making this album and that he genuinely believes in each of the songs that are in it, even though there are others he felt were better contenders (*coughMATKEARNEYSONGcough*).

I don’t think Kris would debut another new song at any of these shows that are pre-album release. I think he will stick to the four songs that he showcased at the Miami Tailgate. I don’t think the label would be too happy with him giving away all his songs hahaha Besides, the 4 songs they have right now are very strong, IMO. “Can’t Stay Away” is a crowd pleaser and “Live Like We’re Dying” will be familiar to the audience. Does anyone know if Live at the Vineyard will be televised?

As for who Kris would go on tour with, I don’t know how these American Idol winner concerts go – do the winners usually headline for somebody else? Did David Cook have to go on tour and open for someone else? I vaguely remember Jordin Sparks touring with Britney (not sure if this is right). But if Kris isn’t headlining (which would be weird, considering the songs on the album seem strong enough to garner a mass following outside the AI bubble), he would probably most likely tour with someone like OneRepublic – they just released a new record, so that could definitely happen. Not a fan of OneRepublic, and I still think Ryan Tedder is a tool, but they are huge, so. It would be awesome if Kris got to tour with John Mayer (he’s got a new record out too), but I doubt John Mayer’s management would let an American Idol alum open for their guy (stigma of being on the show, I guess).

Right. Lets start with possibilty of a second single, LLWD has a lot of life left in it, and as Girlygirl pointed out Radiospins have REALLY picked up, plus! with MV coming out on the 6th – people can finally associate this catchy song with Kris Allen’s beautiful face, I think, the sales will definately pick up….

If Jive decides to release another single, It’ll be from the 3 Kris performed at Miami, which was pretty much a test run for a possible second single. CSA or BWCU. I don’t think it’ll be WAOMF (same ppl behind LLWD). I’m leaning towards CSA because of it’s mass appeal. BWCU has a very HAC/AC vibe.
(Though I gotta tell ya, I can’t get enough of this song. Pretty much memorized the whole song and keep screaming/singing out my lungs whenever I get the chance!!)

Ok, now the beloved Kris Allen snippets – That goddamn Lifetime is stuck in my head – (bringing something over I’d written in our earlier thread, where Cookcricket, u did manage to get the final word, Sorry Sarah!)

Also, when playing all the snippets on a loop, I noticed that I start smiling everytime WAOMF comes up, which surprises me coz it was my least fav of the 3 he’d performed live — and I find myself closing my eyes and swooning whenever “I need to know” plays. I actually sway to it!
I can’t tell you how much I’m loving ‘Is It over’, I just can’t! … And Red Guitar. I used to think the title was too cheesey or whatever, but the song … so beautiful…

I love that some ppl have actually picked Red Guitar or Let it Rain as the next possible single. I love how this album appeals to ppl in such varied ways!

I think the next couple of weeks/months will be a lot of fun for us Kris fans. I can’t wait for the video, album, and show appearances to come out. From what I have heard from the snippets, I will be listening to his album over and over.

This video is alot of fun to watch. I love how he seems to always be on the verge of cracking up. This must be pretty awkward, new, and exciting for Kris all at the same time. Can’t wait to see where his career will take him. (hoping that he continues to make music for a VERY long way)

I can’t imagine Katy NOT going to the Vineyard event. It is a very classy, exclusive, and relaxed affair. It’s also just a puddle-jumper or relaxing limo ride away from LA. I hope Kris whole family is going.

On the music video, what I recall from at least one interview or report is they built a junkyard in the desert for it. It’s a concept I can’t really wrap my head around. But given what I’ve seen from Puig’s work, I’m sure it will all make sense.

In all these radio interviews, couldn’t ONE DJ ask about his band or at least some intelligent questions. While I realize it was a fan question, ‘What hair gel do you use?’ was beyond lame. That’s what they picked to ask?

As to will Kris solo tour, tour with opening acts, or open for a better known band/artist, I think that has varied. I think that varies with the artist and is something they work out with their management and label.

Didn’t Cook push for the college circuit and small venues for his first tour? I was thrilled with that decision because I remember how it introduced me to so many great artists when I was in college who I still love to this day.

Anyway, I was thinking about the Mat Kearney song and how Kris said in the interview that the final decisions weren’t up to him…blah, blah, and I’m now very curious as to which song he would have put this in place of on the album. I was thinking maybe The Truth since he doesn’t have a co-write on this. It doesn’t matter now, just curious.

Also, my guess on the whole touring thing is that he’ll either open for someone or go to fairly small venues to start out. Regardless, I’m really looking forward to seeing him live and would prefer a full length concert.

I woke up with The Truth in my head this morning. Hmmm. This was not one of my faves. I’m so excited to hear all of these songs in their entirety! My head always starts bopping on Can’t Stay Away and Alright With Me!

I, on the other hand, shall be jumping straight to ‘I Need to Know’, followed by ‘Red Guitar’, then ‘Is It Over’ and perhap “Let it Rain’ then I’ll go back to the start and listen in the correct order.

I picked these coz I feel there are most personal to Kris and his influence in the lyrics & music will probably be most prevalent in these song.

I am DYING to hear all of “Let It Rain.” That’s top of the list for me.

I am still sticking with my favorite as WAOMF. But of the songs that I haven’t heard in their entirety, I think it is “Bring it Back” and “Let it Rain” are at the top of my list. God, I can’t wait!!

Yeay, HWeen. I’m blasting the snippets while receiving many kids trick-or-treating tonight Some of them were dancing to the songs … of course they got more candies than others, hence!!

I’m still loving all the snippets, and still can’t decide which the most. It must be difficult for Jive to choose the next single – even the fans are not cohesive on any particular song, everyone of the snippets has single potential (maybe not INTK) and many are POP potential.

Tonight I’m digging the presumed ballads more – The Truth and Bring It Back.

I really do think the next single will be either of the songs he performed at the tailgate. Seeker has a point: it was a warm-up to see which songs got the best crowd reaction. Kris already knows critics love “Can’t Stay Away” (Lyndsey Parker suggested it as the next single, and Michael Slezak and Jim Cantiello seem to concur), and so far among fans it remains the one with the best reaction. So there is a very good chance “Can’t Stay Away” will be the next single. If they do choose that as the next single and it skyrockets through the charts as I expect it to, it would be great if Kris performed it when he comes back to the AI stage next season.

I’m so proud of this album. I admit I did not have faith in Jive and Kris’s management and truly believed he was getting shafted after seeing how poorly run the official site is and how poorly promoted “Live Like We’re Dying” was, but I feel like when it comes to the album, Jive really came through for him. They let his voice shine on all of the songs, and I love that he was involved in the writing of 9 songs. I bet if Kris had his way he would write all of the songs, but I think he’s also really savvy – he knows that collaborating with people who know their way around the music business will help him more so than harm him. I see little compromise on this album (but I may have to wait until I hear the entire album to form a definite conclusion), so that bodes well for Kris’s future albums.

My favorite song today: “Written All Over My Face”. Wasn’t a big fan when it was performed at the tailgate, but this studio recording sounds amazing. And it’s so upbeat and sway-worthy.

X Factor just finished, and boy, do I miss Kris Allen. When Joe sang ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, I really miss Kris coz he impressed me when he sang the first few lines during their group performance, then Olly ended the show with none other than ‘Come Together’. For the uninitiated, Olly is the protege of Simon. So Simon chose Come Together for Olly. I couldn’t believe it coz Olly ( I like Olly the best amongst this yr’s contestants) is IMO, a weaker singer than Kris. Olly’s performance was not by any means bad, but definitely no way better than Kris’. I had it when Simon was all over fawning the performance. Yet when Kris did it in AI, he slammed it it hard. I’m still bitter, argh, really wanna strangle his neck, Simon that is.

Which brings me now to ‘Let It Rain’ repeat….

Wow. Its amazing how every time I listen to the snippets, I have a new “favorite song”. Kind of like what happened when I listen to my Kings of Leon album. And that album was pretty awesome.

Kris looks great in this video. I really like that black jacket he wears outside on the stairs. I think they will have some great shots to use as promotion. Nice. The song sounds great too.

I know what you’re talking about. I don’t really follow X-factor, but I watched a couple of episodes from the previous season. Simon has a shallow musical pool, and a big ego. He copies ideas from Idol, ask his protege to do it, and then fawn all over it to show his choice is right.

I was aghast at Billy Jean last year by Austin Drage. No means it was bad, but it’s gonna pale in comparison to DC. And he was fawning all over it, as if that was the most amazing thing over it and Louie called him on it. And I thought someone mentioned of this really down-to-earth contestant, where Simon mentioned humility as part of his appeal yet berated Kris endlessly as lack of self confidence. This year it was Danyl with Feeling Good, and now Olly.

Simon thinks he can “recreate” new stars based on what worked in AI, and that will never work because it’s not from within the singer’s natural persona.

Me too, and after watching this video too many times I’ve kind of developed a crush on the photographer too.

Kris mentions in the Wal-Mart soundcheck video that it was important to him that the sound of his album was organic. He specifically says he wanted live drums, guitar and piano to be the base of the song and to throw in “a little bit of production” into it. Yay! The more organic the better. Good for Kris for knowing what he wanted the album to incorporate.

I watched that too Starr and really liked what Kris said! I can’t wait (once again) to hear the entire song for each track! I hope the production turned out just how he wanted it to-or at least close.

When I first heard the snippets, I actually thought that that it sounded “too enhanced” but repeating them over and over made me dispel this notion. I hope I will not be disappointed in that regards come Nov. 17th.

But when I listened a couple times around I heard it towards the end of the snippet. Same with “Bring It Back”. I had a bad taste in my mouth after the first listen, but heard the pretty instrumentation in the background of the chorus.

Lifetime was my least favorite when I first listened to the snippets. Now, I cant get it out of my head. Especially the line “to find my place in the world symphony”. Very haunting.
