They just put IIO up on twitter and boy do we get some Chris T and Andrew action and Kris,and Andrew and a little Cale. So hot,I think. And MJ thanks so much for the new post.

Gee the crowd were really screaming on these vids!! Probably helped to energise Kris & the band!! Although the sound is distorted as its so close to the speakers you can tell the guys were having a great time up there!!
Its great that they did a longer set as well . As MJ said , gearing up for the tour!

Despite the quality of the recording , it still gives a nice glimpse at being there. Kris and the Band have become very solid performers. Was this a product of being too close to the speakers or the recording device/settings?

I’d like to hear from people who were there. How was it live and what was audience reaction?

“The Truth” has never been a favorite of mine… but he sings it beautifully…. but if you wanna talk about his “Can’t Stay Away” performance, coz DAYUM!!!!!!!! Also his tone is perfect for “Before We Come Undone”, beautiful song.

Audio’s not the best, you can barely hear the chorus & bridge.

Yep, from these videos I now definitely believe BWCU should b e the next single. Its super radio friendly, it has a slightly different tempo and feel to it than LLWD without being a “slow song” and it translates well to live performance. I can see this being performed on talkshows too as well as intimate settings.

I love the whole band but my lord Kris, Cale, and Andrew are just so damn hot. And seem like the have been together for every. And I just love Kris with that white t shirt. It’s almost like his wearing no shirt at all. And those three rocking it out my lord just can’t get over it.

Is it Over from this event might be my favorite version of it yet. The energy is amazing!

I’m bad at predicting success on various formats, but CSA feels like more of an HAC and Top 40 song to me (plus, I love the live performance of that song!). For some reason, I don’t think BWCU would do as well on Top 40.

Seeker, I posted last night in the other thread….my 19-y-o daughter heard CSA and AWM last night for the first time. I asked her which one she thought would be closer to what she hears on the radio, and she chose CSA (but did say that AWM was really happy and upbeat). Was the crowd response this crazy on any other songs last night? Kris Allen = rawkstar!

The Truth is one of my “most” favorites along with Red Guitar and Let It Rain. It is a difficult song to sing live and by the sound of it, Kris sounds like the CD. Amazing. Hopefully there is a better audio.

I still feel, that one time, Kris should try singing it just on the keyboard.
And LOVE the plain white T-shirt. :)

Once again I feel like I have to say: BWCU deosn’t strike me as the sort of song that would be a hit. I’m not saying it’s not a good song. I just can’t see it as the sort of song people can’t wait to buy because it’s so great they have to have it on their iPod. I especially don’t see it as being popular with younger listeners.

The song and the voice – all amazing, but the three guys upfront, especially Kris with their tight shirts were a little distracting.

Love The Truth.. Hope we’ll get better audio. Sounds like people were talking while he was singing, which may or may not be true. Fun to watch without the sound though!

I’ve said 1000 times I’ll say it again, (as much as I want him to perform every time more songs from the album) I’ll never get tired of hearing Kris’ version of that song, especially when he does it differently. Here it’s not acoustic, they have rocked it a little! The audience sings along throughout the whole song and Kris LOVES it!!!

I was there last night (2nd row center). I was very excited for Kris and band to do the Truth, but they were really on for all of the songs and appeared to have a lot of fun. Is it over really rocked, too!
The crowd was wild and, at times, ear splittingly so, but the band seemed to really enjoy our singing.
After, my daughter and I got to meet Kris at the bus; he signed my daughter’s poster and gave her the Krismas hug she requested :) and I took their picture. He squeezed my arm and thanked me when I informed him we got the iTunes pre-order AND the Walmart cd – he’s so sweet and that white shirt fit him, ahem, very well :)

mmk28, I’m with you on that. When I saw him do MITM live it was really wonderful. Whether it was his ‘connectedness’, as a singer, or my remembering the first time he sang it on AI, I don’t know — but it moved me.

Could be, but remember, many people had that same feeling about LLWD too, and look how that song took off. I remember peeps saying it was the worst song on the album, terrible pick, yadda yadda…and now it’s a Top 40 hit.

BWCU on the CD is very rhythmic, like what you hear on Top 40, whereas CSA is a little bit rock-ish to me. It’s a great song, and a perfect show-opener.

And also remember, peeps were playing songs for their kids when the CD first came out and BWCU was a resounding hit with them.

I’d be interested to know if the young people still feel this way based on the tracks off the CD?

I’m a sucker for ‘Is It Over’ and especially the guitar (Andrew is awesome) riffs. They all really came alive on this one.

I avoid AI concerts like the plague, but I WOULD go see a Kris Allen + Band (The Kris Allen Band?) concert.

I love The Truth on the album but it’s one of the songs that strains Kris’ voice a lot so I was worried for this live performance. I think he does a really good job, the song is so emotional and Kris expresses that perfectly. People are singing along, which impressive since that’s neither a cover nor LLWD which is played on the radio. Some big fans where in the house.
I like IIO on the album but I like even more live. At the end of the song the trio with the guitars rocks!! Great job, guys, great energy all 5 of you (C.R.A.C.K. FTW).
They performed 10 songs yesterday (he did both the Christmas Song and HAMLC, I think during the first one Cale and Chris T. had their arms around it’s other, cute), Kris gave everything on stage and therefore he was tired after the show but totally sweet and gracious with the fans as always. ETA1: my only source for these is twitter so Marianne who was actually there can confirm or not. Welcome and could you tell us how did The Truth sound live, was Kris’ voice overpowered by the bass and the drums as it seems from the videos or not?

ETA2: I’m happy that many of you enjoy MITM as much as I do. Even a DJ who attented the show was won over by that performance despite finding his cool (as he said) cover of Heartless/ Gangsta’s Paradise (which was performed before MITM) just an attempt for street credibility or whatever. He became a fan or that’s how I interpreted his tweets so yeah!

Did you see that LLWD was #72 on z100′s top 100 songs for 2009? I think that’s pretty good for a song that came out at the end of the year. I’m so proud of Kris!

… I’m working in Africa at the moment and will have to wait six more hours (10 p.m. our time) before the internet is strong enough to view the videos of the Charlotte concert. Reading what y’all have written is increasing the anticipation. It’s going to be a long night as it takes a while to view them… but it’s worth it!! At least on YouTube once they’ve finally downloaded, I can push “replay” as many times as I want before going on to the next. Kris Allen is AWESOME! Have already bought 10 of his albums for me, friends, & family.

- Oh, and I vote for CSA as the next single… I think it really appeals to women because (for most of us) it describes perfectly how we want our men to feel about us… my husband follows me around like that (has for 37 years) and I LOVE it! (I was 2 when I got married. :)

Hi mmk28, Kris definitely seemed tired after the show, but people were nice and respectful, although apparently someone’s mother kissed him twice, which shocked both Kris and the daughter (it wasn’t me!).
Regarding the Truth – I was so happy to hear it, but I think his voice was a little overpowered at times, at least this is how I remember it.

About The Truth, I guess it’s OK, it was the first time they performed it, so they will figure it out in the future (if it was their fault and not a result of the mix in the venue). Yes, we read about the kisses but maybe they weren’t so “shocking” as we first thought Y/N? They were on the cheek right? I mean, it’s definitely weird to say the least when a stranger kisses you twice but at first we thought we had a second tongue kissing incident for Kris. Well, I hope that doesn’t stop him from giving hugs, because I’ve heard they are awesome :-) !

mmk28, I didn’t see the kissing incident; I also heard they were on the cheek. Hey, Kris brings out affection in most of us, but I guess you have to keep yourself in check a wee bit, especially when he already is very generous with hugs, etc.

Watching the Charlotte videos, can’t help to think that Kris is such a natural performer. I think he’s not even trying, it’s just that he’s living his music in a passionate way so it comes out wonderfully

Re Kris being so natural – totally agree: he lives the music! My daughter commented that it’s hard to take a good “live” picture of him, because his face is always acting with the music, which often provides some really funny stills.

Are you sure about that? I’m not an expert in checking charts or sales or anything but I thought I’ve figured out how the iTunes top 100 works and I see LLWD is #28. I hope I’m wrong and you’re right because then we have a new peak!! but can someone confirm this?

I don’t think it had hit #21 so far. The peak was #22 and currently it’s sitting at #28 and has stayed at #27-#29 these past 2 days.

I am loving all the videos! What I am seeing right now is truly the revelation of a true musician/artist. Kris is really coming into his own right now. I believe he is finally getting comfortable with being the AI winner becuase he is getting to do what he loves to do. Just from the few videos I’ve seen of last night show me that he was totally in his element. He was living and breathing that experience on stage through every song he performed. I’m sorry, but whoever said he had no charisma, was boring and cannot whip a crowd into a frenzy is smoking something. That crowd was loving him last night. And BTW, Kris can play a bigger venue as evidenced by the crowd reaction at MSG the other night.

With every performance the band is getting tighter really gelling as a group. I think they are totally enjoying the ride with Kris right now and taking it all in! They really are looking like a band!

Kris is really impressing me with his evolution as an artist. He is so passionate about what he does that you can see it oozing out of every pore when he sings. Kara was right in one thing…if you can’t feel a Kris Allen performance, something is wrong with you. When I listen to music or watch a performance I want to be moved. I want to feel the song and Kris does that for me when I hear/see him perform. He is only now really showing this becuase he is breaking free of the box AI shoved him in..the quiet hometown boy…now we are gettng to see the real Kris..the performer, musician and artist.

Also, he is improving so much with audience interaction! He is talking more, engaging them, brining them in to the performance and taking them on a ride! His quick wit is coming out more and people are seeing that he isn’t boring.

I was scared for Kris in the beginning to be honest. However, the more I see, the better I feel about this. His song is doing well and climbing the charts and more and more people are seeing he really is talented. It isn’t about all the bells and whistles with him…it is about putting out good music that he can be proud of.

Okay…end of rant! Back to work….

Sometimes in concerts, there is a glass / plastic (? ) partition around the drums. Is that to mute the sound of the drums a little bit ?

I like it better too when Kris’ voice is more pronounced. Hopefully somebody in the band will check YT / stuff to see how they sound.
Maybe lower the sound of some instruments.

The loudness could also be due to where the person was that was taking the video. If too close to the speakers, it would muffle the vocals I think due to the bass coming through loudly on the speakers. I actually think in one of the videos, Kris actually motioned to someone off stage with his thumb signaling “up” as in turn the volume up..maybe on his microphone? I don’t know. This was the first time the Truth was done in a live setting and maybe the sound was a bit different during soundcheck. I am sure they will work out the kinks.

I actually do have some more memories: I forget during which song (I think one of the Christmas songs), but Andrew and Cale decided they were going to sit on the edge of the stage with their feet towards Kris – what was amusing was that Cale was not as smooth going down as he might have wanted, but they sat there grinning and just having a great time.

During the first Christmas song, the guys were standing as if they were plotting something while Kris was innocently singing. It was cute!

Kris at one point was chastising some portion of the crowd for videotaping the whole time (the lady in front of me, who I think shot some of the stuff we have on Youtube just kept taping as if she didn’t hear a thing lol).

Kris also observed that the people in the front were much better fans than the ones further back – duh!

Also, I know it’s been said, but there was some major guitar playing going on!

My daughter heard Kris make an Anoop reference – I only heard him say “starts with the letter A” and I was thinking about someone else…. :)

I just love watching Kris perform live. I love his energy, and he sings all of his songs with such conviction. And I love hearing the banter but it’s hard for me to understand most of what he says. The band is definitely gelling. Can’t wait to see the other videos.

From some of the tweets last night, Kris is getting more comfortable with his fans which is great. The fans will make or break an artist, so I’m glad he’s embracing them (yep, pun intended). :lol:

Diane, glad you’re enjoying my little recaps :) As to your question, Kris definitely said he’d be back in Charlotte when the tour starts in January. Don’t know when in January or where it will start, but it sounds like he’ll take very little time off!

Kris has consistently said in intrviews that his tour will start in February. He’s also said that they haven’t even really started planning it or what kind of tour he’s doing (solo tour in smaller venues, playing larger venues as opening act for more established artist, etc) — so February may be too optimistic.

As far as I know, January is going to be mainly rehearsing with the band for whatever tour he does go on, whenever it starts. There are no scheduled performances for any of the Kradison trio for January so far — which means there is likely to be a sad lack of news next month. That’s going to be weird, considering how much stuff we’ve gotten since tour ended.

Tonight is the last of the JingleBalls. I read The Fray is doign an 80-minute (!!!) set as the headliner. Wonder how long a set Kris is doing?

Just was in my car bopping away to AWM, and it occurred to me that KA was released a month ago (well, yesterday actually). One month anniversary–yeah! Anybody tired of it yet? I know that I am most definitely not; I’m constantly discovering new things in the album and I have listened to it daily. I think that’s the sign of a great album. Wish more of America would discover what we already know—come on people, get with the program! :-)

Drums are so loud and deep, that their sound can really bleed into the other microphones. They put the drums into those plastic acquariums (IDK what they are really called) to isolate their noise better. Then, they can control the mix of all the instruments/voices on the sound board. If the drums are bleeding onto the other feeds, that makes it harder to get a good mix. Most of the sound we hear at a concert comes through the speakers, not from the instruments directly. So they aren’t really muting the drums so much as isolating them.

Summersnow I so agree with you. Its the only chance we get to see Kris through others videos so I for one really appreciate those that do video !!

Its a balance really of watching some songs & videoing others so that you do feel part of the audience , so I understand what Kris is saying . [ A bit like going on a holiday & seeing everything through the eyes of a lens]!!

I am also adding to the multitudes about MITM- I just never get sick of Kris doing it as he does it so well!! If the Jackson family ever have a tribute album of MJ songs by other artists I hope Kris is able to do this as its the best version I’ve heard.

I’ve been lurking here since July, I think. I just want to thank all of you for keeping these Kris threads warm and inviting and interesting.

It’s so good to be a fan of Kris as we have got so many awesome performances in the last couple of months. And, if Kris meant what he was saying in latest Krim show (MTV Outtakes), his tour will last about eight months – oh that is something to wait!

Oh my gosh, 30 hours without internet. I was having withdrawal. – Sad. Anyway, wow this set was amazing. Tighty white shirt. WOW is all I can say. So nice to hear “The Truth”.
Last night I almost pissed my pants when I saw the Christmas sweaters. I had no idea that was coming. He is frickin’ craaazy!!! I loved everything Dave said. He obviously likes Kris a lot. Yeah!! I know this is not the topic for this thread, but I’m out of town and just catching up now. (was it just me or was the electric guitar too overpowering last night?)
MITM – is my favorite as well, as many of you have commented. Definately such an emotional connection to the song. Love the guitar intro for that song – it has evolved so beautifully since the show.
And by the way, His hair is way cooolll in that interview. Mixed with the hoodie. SMOKIN’!!!

I gotta admit… I’m a little sad to see that Kris played guitar for CSA. I liked that it was the one song that we could see him work the stage. It was a good balance with the others.

Its great to hear that wherever Kris & the band perform they are being so well received by the audience. It is so good that he has put those naysayers in their place , [saying that he was boring & couldn't stir up a crowd.] Well both in his interviews & performances he is now anything but boring”!! He is very comfortable in who he is as a person & performer!

I so agree with you Judes. I never thought he was boring at all. We just never got to really see the well Kris until after Idol. And Allison did say in the radio conference that her and Kris did,that Kris does have secrets that people didn’t know about, and people are getting to see it now.Just because his different then Adam or some other artist doesn’t mean his boring. I hope when we get to see knew vid’s that The Truth sounds better then it did last night. Someone on tweeter showed a picture tonight and Kris is sitting down by the audience and my lord is it hot, that guys legs are really spread out. Still enjoying the videos from last night! I know I’ve said it before, but I’m right there with everyone else on MiTM! How awesome that the crowd was singing along!!!

“The Truth” sounds great live. At first I was concerned because I felt like the drums were overwhelming Kris’s voice in these videos but this newer one with the better quality shows Kris’s voice rising above the drums, which is great. I love the changes they made with the drums at the end, although I do wish Cale played keyboard on this one. The piano adds a nice dimension to the song.

I’m with you, kt_cle. Kris working the stage on that tune in Charlotte was awesome (and elsewhere, previously). I wonder why they changed it tonight?

I really don’t want him to stand at a mic-stand with his guitar on every song. I liked that he changed it up, it gave things more variety — and he can move, so he really should.

In fact, the way he rocked out on CSA was something I never really saw him do before, either on AI or on tour. I hope the guitar on that song wasn’t a permanent decision.

Kris is AMAZING in person. I was at the concert tonight and he and the band were SO good.

I think it was Junior who asked my daughter’s opinion of BWCU for the next single? I played it for her yesterday, and she said “Yeah, I can see that as a single.” So there you have it. Her top 2 songs for the single were CSA and BWCU but she thought AWM sounded like a fun song too.
