Actually I think his win disproves that theory. Just as Taylor, and Ruben’s win did. I think America gets it right whether we all like it or not. I say more power to Kris. I didn’t vote for him, won’t by Kara’s horrible song, but I will buy his cd.

I have been an idol fan for 8 years. My picks have won and lost. I’ve been elated and disgusted. Tonight, I am neither. Kris is such a nice, talented guy. I can’t hate on him. Not jumping up and down, cause for me, for you…..but the artistry was there, and I think you’re iconic……lol.

Kris did deserve this win. And no winner will ever be as pathetic as Taylor Hicks. Kris is relevant to today’s music scene and should have an amazing career. IMO, what made Taylor, well, TAYLOR was that he did not have a hope in hell of getting radio play outside AC, which does not now and never really has sold records. That is not the case with Kris. Given that he puts out decent material, Kris will find a home somewhere in the current musical landscape. Will he be a megastar? I have no idea. But he will, barring a massive case of TPTB screwing it up, make a good bit of change over the next year.

Adam will make a living too. 19E lurves him. They will sign him, and they will pimp him.

I applaud Kris and congratulate him in total. Problem is, I’m listening to my single of Adam’s Change is Gonna Come and I know I have to wait, wait, wait for actual change to come. Adam should have won! He proved amazing, and original talent and he could sing his $&@ off! There is no doubt about it. He should have taken it all the way. What a disappointment!!! My brother works in the entertainment industry and he told me that Idol has been fixed since season 1. Remember when insiders were saying that fox wanted Gokey and Alexis in the finals? You didn’t think that was real? Of course it was but some one let the cat out of the bag and the next thing you know, Alexis was gone.

They also have in their mind who they want to win as the season goes on. Then they choose and there’s nothing you or any vote will say about it.

I’d rather pay 99 cents for the excellent cover of “What’s Goin’ On” than Kara’s spare cliches.

There are people still pining for Jesse Langseth — sniff — and Allison Iraheta. There’s only one winner and more than 35 also-rans, which means that most viewers’ first favorite didn’t win. Disappointment happens, but I personally wish we could put all the hate behind.

I’m happy for Kris and Adam. I don’t think Adam needed the victory and, in fact, not having to play the AI game any longer is probably liberating. Tonight Adam was the most like YouTube Adam since Ring of Fire, which I floved, and it’s not a moment too soon for me.

I think Kris needed to win for the creative control. The Kris fans I know all say they can imagine the type of album he will record and can see themselves buying it. Even some of Adam’s fans don’t know where he’ll fit on radio. I hope he uses those platform shoes to kick down the rigid doors of radio and create his own market.

Simon and the other idiots in charge could have at least two solid stars if they can get over not achieving the outcome they wanted tonight. If they treat Adam like Daughtry and Kris like Taylor, then they are as blind and shortsighted as I suspect they are.

I somehow can’t imagine that TPTB had all along planned for the winner to be the guy who prior to Top 36 had given only about 30 seconds of screen time. He was such obvious cannon fodder that he was initially referred to as “Error 404 File Not Found”. Kris won not because of what TPTB did FOR him all season. He won in spite of what they did TO him all season.

When I look at Kris, he looks like Eric from Head of the Class to me, and in this picture even more so.

Kris Allen represented all of those people, in my opinion. The ones that tried their hardest, many of which gave stellar performances (Alex, not so much, I realize, lol), and weren’t enough to break past the producers wall of favorites, which in my opinion was the entire Top 13 save Allison, Kris…and maybe Jorge.

Helps that the boy can sang. I’m proud of him. He deserved the win, and I’m super excited to hear “No Boundaries” recorded.

Charisma and stage presence cannot be manufactured. You either have it or you don’t. Adam has it. Kris is talented yes, but performing is not his stronghold. I don’t see the producers treating Adam like Daughtry and Kris like Taylor. They have to be sick of the losers outdoing their winner……. A lot will depend on what music they put out and what people like better. I would bet that most people who buy Daughtry’s music didn’t even watch AI that year. They like the sound he puts out, plus the band puts on a good show. Taylor’s current CD is MUCH better than the first one. Daughtry probably benefited from losing. He had more time to make a better CD. If the producers make Kris sing a bunch of songs like No Boundaries we have a problem………..

the type of music and performances Adam and Kris put on will determine their success. At this point, its not about the producers, the show, the judges, etc. Its about the music.

Okay, I’m officially pissed that Permanent isn’t up yet while No Boundaries is. The popularity bar for album track is now more than twice CBTM’s, and while it’s nice whenever a DC song does well, I want the charity single to do well and raise a lot of money for ABC2, and the album track won’t do that! Hopefully, the bulk of Permanent’s DL’s will start tomorrow.

Dude, Kieth Urban’s Kiss a Girl is charting at #95! I would love the live version of that duet. Allison and Cyndi and Adam and KISS too. Actually, all the duets were really good last night except Sarver/ Corkrey and Steve Martin. I liked the song though, and I’m totally buying Steve Martin’s album.

I am JUST going to throw this out there and I could be way off base but I had a thought about this earlier when I was trying to sleep and couldn’t because I’m sick and can’t stop coughing.

I really don’t think TPTB cared who won. If they really wanted Adam to win, they easily could have bussed Kris the past couple of weeks. They could have bussed Danny too but he bussed himself so that was taken care of. Heh. I really did think a bus was coming for Kris last night but the judges were really nice to him. If they absolutely were dead set against him winning, they would not have given him such good comments, nor would they declared him the “winner” of one of the rounds.

Amen! My overall favorite was Allison and, of course, we lost her way too early. Kris was my second favorite.

Then from the earlier rounds, I loved Mishavonna, Jesse, Kristen McNamara (though I didn’t like the arrangement of her semi-finals song…but I gave her some votes anyway because I loved her vocals on it), Ju’Not, and Ricky Braddy. The only two that I really liked that got through to the finals were Allison and Kris.

I don’t know the answer to that question, but there’s something else that’s kind of interesting was mentioned by somebody at DCO. Apparently, Sony tweeted trying to gauge reaction to the performance of Permanent and perhaps the song itself.

Now musically the reworked version would be an absolutely smash single, I believe. However, lyrically it’s just too fucking depressing. I can’t imagine people wanting to hear that on their morning commute to work….

ETA: Rewatching the video and seeing the camera cut to a glistening-eyed Carrie Underwood convinces me that if not for that hockey player, her and DC would SO be an item.

Well the studio version was better than he did live, even last night’s version. But the song is still a bunch of tripe. Kris sounds nice doing it, and probably best that he is singing this, rather than Adam. But the song itself is still totally generic to me and something I would never buy and ignore when it was on the radio, or really change to find something that wasn’t pre-packaged and dull.

There is no real emotion in this song, I don’t feel uplifted or saddend by it. It’s not hummable, there isn’t any hook in it. It’s not some catchy pop song. It’s not something to rock out to. There isn’t any, forgive me, artistry in this song. And that’s not Kris’s fault, but he isn’t making it work for me.

It sounds like the theme song for a Dawson’s Creek type show.

lol. seriously. But man.. I kind of feel for Kris. It’s HIS coronation song. And although it’s a horrible song (although somehow insanely earwormy.. It’s stuck in my head) it’s still supposed to be his moment.

Plus, he’s going to have to sing it during every interview for the rest of time.. while Adam, who now also has the same recording under his belt, can ignore it and sing whatever he wants.

I wonder if this is the first time the Sony guys have heard this reworked version of Permanent? I think it would be great to have a studio version of it but I don’t know about releasing it as a single (only because it is so sad and it might be tough for Cook to promote, make a video, etc). I’m not seeing the charity version yet.

The studio version of No Boundaries sounds much better than the live performance but I think Kris should rearrange it when he goes on tour. I’m guessing Kara will have no say at that point.

What’s going on with itunes? The studio versions of No Boundaries are not clearly visible, charity Permanent is missing and the peformance videos are charting under top albums.

Wow. The studio version of No Boundaries… doesn’t suck half s much. Actually, I don’t think I’ll ever be a fan of the song, but Kris makes it work. He really has a wonderful recording voice. This is like David Cook’s song last year. I didn’t think much of it at the time but it’s better in replay. I like Kris cover too. Such a cutie-pie!

They released it last night on his page. Is it no longer there? I bought it and it’s really good too (you know, for what it is.) Bandzilla and backups are overbearing of course, but it is very good.

Why do i like No boundaries? I blame Kris.He makes the song very current for the radio and very catchy.It reminds me of Miley’s “the climb” with a better singer and more emotion.
