Kris Allen played new songs from his forthcoming album, Thank You Camellia, in Napa Valley at the Live at the Vineyard event.

One of the tunes, “Loves Me Not” was preformed with Meiko, who recorded the duet with Kris for his album. A rare treat to be sure, so check it out!

    Just getting a chance to rewatch all of his videos from the concert. I really liked the duet and can’t wait to hear the version on the CD. I think all of his new songs are so good. I am so excited for the CD to come out on 5/22.

    I am mainly a fan of his music and really don’t care what he wears (now if he decides to dress like Urkle, I might have something to say about it). As far as Meiko, she dresses like a lot of college age/young adults I know. I guess she missed the memo telling her she had to dress to a higher standard since she is a girl. lol..

    This whole even is low key & casual so I don’t see any issues with the way anyone is dressed.

    You did say, ”Matching guys in jeans and denim jackets could be pulled off with a bit of style, even if the guys are lacking it.” or I wouldn’t have commented. Anyhow, I’m willing to change the subject at this point. But I still like the dress!! lol

    Back to the music. I thought the song had a sort-of Lady Antebellum quality to it. So if that makes it sound a bit country-crossover, well, that’s no problem for me. I’m talking about the melody – Kris and Meiko just sound like themselves, of course. Anyway, I think it is a special song and I’d like to know the story behind the writing of it.

    The choice of Meiko is kind of cool because when they duet it’s like two distinct personalities having a dialogue. They also blend well when they harmonize. But they both have their own personalities as singers (and people) which seems to include a lot of charm and humor, so it works quite well I think.

    I liked this song & Kris & Meiko blended well when they sang together but here I didn’t like her voice when she sang on her own . I will reserve any more comment until I hear the recorded version as she did seem to have some issues hearing herself.

    I hear absolutely no country elements to the song, by the way. Imo Kris’ best shot to cross over to country would be LYA, depending on how it’s produced (although I would prefer it if the arrangement leaned more towards soul than country).

    Most of the guys – meh, and in the first instance downright awful.

    Mieko on the other hand: that’s what a GOOD low-key look is. She can do it after all.

    It really feels like in addition to having fan favorite songs on his album, he is also targeting the 18-32 crowd. Between the duet with Meiko and the remix contest, I think he is doing a good job of getting his music out in front of people in that age group that he normally wouldn’t. My 19 yo is even interested in TVOL because of the remix’s and he usually doesn’t listen to this type of music.

    Kris has about 220 entries now for the remix contest and it doesn’t close until the 19th. There are some really good remixes, it would be cool if the winner’s remix is on the CD. I have no clue how the fans are going to narrow it down to 10 songs.. that is a lot of songs too listen to.

    I think Meiko looked great and appropriate for the event on both days. The dresses she wore, very similar in style, are current fashion. I recently saw 3 other young female singers wearing that style on TV performances.

    All of the guys at the event, including Kris, were dressed appropriate for the event as well.

    I still love all the songs that they performed.

    Thanks Ross I’ve been trying to think what this song reminded me of; I agree Lady Antebellum.  As to the story of the song, it reminds me of the breakup Kris and Katy told about in the MTV episode of “When I was 17”.  It was a serious time in their relationship, but it was told in a sweet, light hearted manner.

    I think that Kris and Meiko’s voices blended well, it was just that I think when she sang the first solo part, the key was so low and I think she had problem singing it. It was just off, but when it went to the higher part, she was fine. Of course Kris’ voice was heavenly to me since I love that catch/cry in his voice.

    I think if I see Jason Mraz standing in front of the building, I might give him some money. What happens to his hat ? I guess that was years ago.
    Now I’m “concern” of the style convo after Thursday night since it will be nationally televised. I bet Kris will wear a dark jacket. We’ll see.

    I already plan to leave early from work for the occasion. Heh. Too bad that getting a live stream fom Fox is hard nowadays, but I can follow twitter just to see how he’s doing.

    The more I hear LMN the more I like it. Looking forward to hearing Meiko’s part of the duet on the studio recording as I don’t think she was at her best at LITV.  Can’t wait for the TYC album! At this point I have 4 songs that are tied for second as my favorites! TVOL being #1.

     In some of his previous songs, Kris would have that little “cry” in his voice, which to me, sounded country-ish.  I don’t hear that on either of the new songs that I like (which is one reason that I like them  lol ).

    Same for me, I don’t hear what I used to call his ‘wingey’ tone anymore, and I like it a lot more. He has a rich and smooth lower register that he seems to use more, and he moves from there to his falsetto, and less to his higher register that’s sounds better anyway, imo.

    Well I listened to LMN a handful of times over the weekend and I love it.  Echoing some of the comments up thread but I think Meiko’s quirky style really works for the song and Kris sounds wonderful as always… sigh… This album is going to be so great…  Let’s hope that RCA has a big radio promo push planned for after Idol and leading right up to the album release because the fact that he has done nothing except for LITV so far is really driving me crazy.  Seriously RCA, you have an extremely hot, personable guy who has written a bunch of radio-friendly songs for (what I believe) could be a pretty great-selling album if given the chance– so promote him to radio for God’s sake!  <> :)

    They would probably be focusing on the Idol performance (imho). After all, they haven’t been together, so they have to work out how they’re playing it, then they have to rehearse it until it’s perfect. They might be doing other things, sure, but if it was me I would be rehearsing for the TV performance.

    Totally wouldn’t mind if this become the next single or single at some point.
    Love it more and more (and stuck more and more) everytime I watch/hear it.
